  • Call of duty 1.5 patch on intel working for anyone?

If anyone has seen my past posts you would know i have been having some problems with my 24" intel iMac and call f duty and call of duty United Offensive. Well to save you all the past posts..i have finally gotten the disks installed on my computer and running. the problem is if i try to install the 1.5 patch for COD. the installation doesn't happen. it stops installing at the start and looks like it will continue but never does. I called Aspyr and they said that the patch is not intel compatible and that it won't install. bummer. however they also told me that COD in general would not run on an intel or with my graphics card and it runs 100% better than COD 2 does....which runs like atari. has anyone installed the 1.5 patch successfully? if so how? thanks

ok guys...here is the NEW news. you may like this but lets not get our hopes up. don't bother trying to install the patch from your friends computer,i have talked to aspyr a few times over the phone about this the past couple of days and they said it can only be updated from the installer. no other way. I tried doing that too with no success. but i will now copy the email that i sent them and their responses. tell me how i did:)
    *First email to them:*
+i have been having problems installing COD and UO on my 24" intel mac. If you check past tickets you can see what i mean. I finally got both CD's to install. the first CD installed without a problem the second CD i had to transfer the files by hand and not use the installer. now the next problem is the patch...or patches...(not sure if they made one patch to replace the two patches? but seeing as I have tried to install the patch before and it wont install i was wondering if there was a way i could install file by file instead of using the installer. could i get it done this way...if so where can i get the files or how can i extract them on my computer, thanks+
    *their reply:*
+Thank you for choosing Call of Duty Deluxe for the Mac. Unfortunately, there is no way to install the patches besides running the installer.+
+What happens when you try to use the installer for the United Offensive patch?+
+Sorry we could not resolve this issue.+
    +Have a great day.+

    *My Reply to them:*
+when i try to install the installer it doesn't get past the first+
+second of installation. it just stays in the one spot forever and+
    +never moves.+
+do i have to install 2 patches or is the one i have that says it is a+
    +combined patch for cod and cod:uo enough?+
    *their reply:*
+Ideally, you would need Call of Duty: Version 1.5 patch as well as the Call of Duty: United Offensive: Version 1.5.1 patch.+
+The issue you are having is related to the fact that these patch installers are old and do not run properly on Intel Macs. The first Call of Duty games are not Universal Applications and run under Rosetta emulation when using an Intel Processor. The patches also react adversely when trying to operate in the Intel processor environment.+
+Since this patch issue is also occurring with some games that are actually supported for play on Intel Macs we are trying to isolate and fix the problem for these patch installers first. Unfortunately, since Call of Duty and United offensive are not supported on Intel Macs, I cannot guaranty that we will rebuild these patch installers for this title.+

    *Me again:*
+thanks for the info, i guess i waill just play under 1.4.... but honestly as a+
+customer that plays mac games and just bought an intel mac, you should seriously+
+try to fix that 1.5 patch. I bought COD2 and my friends and i still play COD:UO+
+because ...well frankly COD 2 *****. not sure if you have gone on to see how+
+many servers there are... but I see 10 times more servers running COD: UO than+
+COD 2. we buy new computers to play these games under better settings and then+
+find out that you guys don't want to fix them because they are "old" . if the new+
+game wasn't a horrible sequel with no vehicles to drive and many more issues,+
+people would be willing to switch but we are not. thanks, hope you guys listen. in+
+forums all over people talk about these things. COD:UO is still the Bar..+
+everything else falls short. and COD 4 is not a WWII FPS... thats a different+
+catagory so i can't say anything. i will be waiting for that too. thanks,+

    *Their last reply:*
    Hello,
+We will fix it if possible.+
+I'm going to sit on this e-mail for a couple of days while we discuss some options.+
+I will contact you again in a couple of days.+
    +Thanks for your patience.+
    +Have a nice day.+
SO..WHAT DO YOU THINK? I Think i made a big enough stink that they actually might try to make a patch that works for us.

  • Call of Duty 1

Trying to see if it's possible to run call of duty one on the intel imac running 10.4

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
    according to these game specs:
Mac OS X 10.2.8 or newer
PowerPC G3/G4/G5 with at least 700 MHz
    256 MB RAM
    1.4 GB free Disk-Space
3D-Graphics Card with 32 MB VRAM (ATI Radeon 7500 or
    GeForce 2 or better)
DVD-Drive needed for Installation and Playing
you should have no problems running it on your iMac.
Keep in mind, that CoD is not an Universal Binary, but a PPC application.
Also there seems to be a patch to version 1.5 for it.
Or you could try out the Demo version of it first, before buying.
    regards
    Stefan

  • Audigy 2 ZS Call of Duty and United Offensive Logitech 55

All sounds are working fine with various games, music, DVD etc......in either Digital or Analog......impressed with Audigy 2ZS and Awesome Logitech 5500d's......
One issue in Call of Duty and also in the Expansion pack........
With any EAX version enabled......the Voices and Music no longer play.....but all the other Game noises play and sounds amazing in 24bit resolution using latest EAX3......
If I revert to Miles 2D then all music and voices also return to the game.
I have .5 on CoD and .5 on CoDUO......Used Creative Update to patch all Drivers to latest......Direct 9C installed........XP SP2.......everything patched....
Any ideas? Anyone else have this same problem? Is the Audigy defecti've? Wouldn't think so, because it sounds amazing in Half Life 2.........oh well........back to the complaining board ;-)
    /NEP007

YEah it runs fine in "Miles Fast 2D positional"... there is a problem with EAX and CoD that Creative doesn't seem to have a fix for unless there is something i missed.

HI JUST COPYED CALL OF DUTY FROM ONE OF MY MACS TO OTHER IT WILL NOT WORK ON THE OTHER ONE?

Are you saying that you bought the game from the App store and made another copy onto a dvd so you can play it on another computer too?  If so, you can not do that, you have to buy it again for the other computer.

  • Call of DUty on Intel is killing me

I have a brand spankin' new 24"iMac with 3.06ghz and a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS graphics card. I'm already brocken up over the fact that i can no longer play Call od Duty : united offensive or pretty much any other game that I had for my other non-intel based mac. but now i figure i should get Call of Duty 2. unfortunately Aspyr's website says my Graphics card is not supported. they told me that it possibly could run fine, but there are no promises. has anyone with my graphics card played this with good results? any opinions? my new mac is bringing me down

    HI Soto,
Sorry you're bummed! You can go here and start a thread and ask questions:
http://support.aspyr.com/ if you haven't already done so.
Also, this is the System Requirements:
    Mac OS X v10.3.9; OS X v10.4.5 recommended
1.8GHz G5 or Intel Core Duo processor; 2.0GHz G5 or Intel Core Duo recommended
    512MB RAM; 1GB RAM recommended
    4GB free hard-disk space
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 or ATI Radeon 9600 or higher
    64MB VRAM; 128MB VRAM recommended
    DVD-ROM drive
Multiplayer: Internet (TCP/IP) and LAN (TCP/IP) play supported. Internet play requires broadband connection. From: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore?productLearnMore=TH3 63LL/A#overview
Your NVIDA GeForce card is compatible... but I noticed in System Requirements... it mentions Tiger
10.4.5 ... you're running Leopard. I'm wondering if it's the difference in operating systems that's causing the problem, not the graphics card.
Don't despair... surely more gamers will see your post and offer suggestions...

  • Call of Duty 4 SP quits at Startup, please help!

I installed CoD4 on my machine, uploaded the 1.7 patch, and tried to play the game. The Multiplayer works fine, prompts me for the serial number, and takes me to the main menu. However, when i try to boot up the Single Player it bounces up and down in the dock for a couple seconds and then goes straight to an error message. It is not the disk or any of the the third party software, because it works on other MBPs with the same configuration (I did a test install on another to make sure). The problem has to be on my machine.
Below is an extract of the error report for the Single Player error. Can anyone help me find what the cause may be?

    Hi Guys,
I got same COD4 SP crash on my MacPro early 2008.
But one strange thing is that I got this working prior I upgrade to a bigger internal HD...
When I installed first COD4 on by original boot disk (WD 320Gb), everything worked fine.
Few weeks ago I bough Samsung Sinpoint F1 1To disk, and used SuperDuper to get all files from my old disk to the new one.
Everything were fine exept the COD4 SP that were crashing.
I tried a complete de-install/re-install (without forgetting preferences, and other plist files from aspyr/cod4). But this doesn't help.
I opened a ticket on aspyr support web, and I provided all data possible (crash dump, specs and so one). BUt still no answer yet
Anyway, I have a way to play to COD4 SP... it is to boot on my old HD... weird.
I really would like to have COD4 working from my new HD, as I would like to used my old one for other stuff so...
    I will keep you informed.
    Best regards

  • Call of Duty 4

just bought the new macbook pro 13 inch and call of duty 4. when i go to play multiplayer, no servers come up for the game. anyone know what to do?

    @Thorv
You should have a PBSetup.run file in your downloads folder (or where ever you download stuff too)
launch it, Then when its open, go File > Add game...
Open that up and it should ask you to choose a game (choose Call of duty 4)
Use the path mentioned above "/Applications/Call of Duty 4.app/Contents/Call of Duty 4 Data"
And then it should do its thing
Now that still didn't work for me, but its worth a try
Lets hope a patch comes soon... as I dont care for campaigns

  • Call of Duty

Will my MacBook Pro be able to play the original Call of Duty? I am not looking to play Call of Duty 2.

I've been running Call of Duty with the 1.5c patch on my MacBook Pro for the last couple months. There's a couple graphics bugs in it (especially in the russian campaigns) but other than that I haven't seen any slowdowns. Oh, and I have everything in the performance settings turned up. Good luck.

  • IMac play Call of Duty 4?

Which will run Call of Duty at the best performance or will there be any difference at all?
Refurbished iMac 24-inch 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M with 256MB memory
Refurbished iMac 24-inch 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB memory

Ok, with this version you are going to need the following:
    System Requirements
Mac OS X 10.5.4 or later
Digital download version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor (2.4GHz or higher recommended)
    1GB of RAM (2GB recommended)
128MB video RAM (256MB recommended); ATI Radeon X1600, NVidia Geforce 7300, or higher (Intel integrated video chipsets are not supported)
8GB hard disk space (+ 1GB Swap File); DVD-ROM drive; Internet play requires broadband connection
If I were you, I'd check with the software manufacture here http://www.aspyr.com/
    then click Contact Us. http://www.aspyr.com/about/contact_us
Ask them about the different video cards. They can tell you exactly what you need. They wrote the software so they would know best.

  • Playing Call of Duty II on my new MacBook Pro... Not Good!

    Hey
Just bought a brand new MacBook Pro with ALL the trimmings - and Call of Duty II makes my mac run like I was playing on a Commodor 64.
Does anybody had the same experience - and have you found patches or updates that fixes this problem?
    Thanks!
    Mikkel

Well, I can offer some things that helped me out *a lot*.
First, I also suffered interminably from my MacBook Pro's malaise while doing 3D gaming-- wondering why I was running games so poorly on a piece of iron that was relatively recent. So, here are the solutions I tried in order.
    1) Increased my 2GB of RAM to 3GB of RAM via a Crucial.com RAM purchase. Cost me $100 bucks. I think it was worth it for my gaming and other needs. I have to say that this change alone I did before I ran the Call of Duty 2 demo. I own Crysis and found that the expanded RAM only improved my gaming slightly (~30%). With Crysis and 3GB of RAM, I still had chunky gameplay and I found that 1024x768 was largely unplayable when there was a lot of action on the screen.
    2) I made sure that both Bootcamp and Windows XP had all of the latest software updates. Run "Automatic Update" from XP (I'm assuming you're running XP) and then use Apple's "Software Update" mechanism (search for it, if you can't find it) that Apple has built into Windows in order to update Apple's software on the Bootcamp side of the house, too.
    3) I downloaded the "Mobility Modder" application (you can get it at driverheaven.net for free) that runs under XP and Vista. Someone else on the forums suggested it, and I also recommend it. It let me tweak the settings of my ATI Radeon card (check to see if your brand and model of card is supported) and then download the latest drivers for my MacBook Pro. (Personally, I have an ATI Radeon X1600 card in my MBP.) The app is free. Also, when you download the new ATI drivers you get this "free" application called EarthSim. It's very cool and when I plugged my MacBook into my HDTV using a DVI-->HDMI cable, it was beautiful seeing the earth on the screen. Absolutely gorgeous!
    4) Finally, ensure you download an app like WinClone and backup your Windows partition before you start tweaking stuff (or after, if you're feeling adventurous). I find that it took me eons to get all my software working correctly in XP and it prevents a major re-installation of stuff should you change a setting on something that suddenly hoses something.
    5) Lastly, there are those pesky graphics settings in Call of Duty 2. Do not let the app make the "recommended graphics suggestions" for you! It'll give you horrible eye-candy. I haven't copied down my settings (to share with you), but I can tell you that I changed it to 1024x768. Turned on 2x anti-aliasing. SyncEveryFrame was set to OFF. I also turned OFF the other setting underneath SyncEveryFrame. Most other stuff I turned on or set to at least NORMAL. Naturally, YMMV.
I manually changed almost all of the settings to try to take advantage of the "new" horsepower my MacBook Pro was packing with the Mobility Modder app having put me in fighting shape.
    Good luck!

  • Why can't I play call of duty 4 on my matchbook pro early 2011?

I have recently purchase the call of duty 4 from the mac app store it took my mac from 10 pm till 5am the next day to download the game on a fast wify home connection ,when it finaly dowload I start playing the game first thing I nottice was the sreen was frezzing up, well I continue to play with the screen doing that play the game first mission like that ,but wen I got to the second mission my mac just froze up ???????
then I when and unninstall the app ,reinstall it ,play it againg nothing change still doing the same thing it was doing before ,so I whent to the game  support website , I found a patch to dowload for my mac ,download it try to istall it ,massege came up telling me that the call of duty 4 ap was not install corectly ,so I when back unninstall the app for the second time reinstall it one more time nothing change the game still doing the same thing is frezzing up is really frustrating this hole thing it just suck ............can anybody help me understand this please ,and yes my macbook pro is an early 2011 2 ghz intel core i7 ,500gb ,4GB 1333 MHz DDR3  ................

What model is your Mac? It's under the About this Mac > More info (Apple menu)
Go to energy saver and disable graphics swtiching, if you don't see it, then you don't have a "3D gamers" laptop or a video card strong enough to run the game.
Only a 15" MacBook Pro 2.2 Ghz or better can run the game as it has a stong video card.
Intel HD 3000 graphics only Mac's need not apply.

  • Call Of Duty performance with rosetta

Has anybody tried Call Of Duty or any other games under Rosetta on the MBP.. im wondering if i should buy call of duty now or wait for the universal versions of these games to come out.

I dont have a MBP, but I do have a Intel iMac- see stats in my info.
I have Call of Duty and it plays fine under Rosetta. It runs a little bit slower than the G5 2.1GHZ in some points, but in others it matchs the G5.
Now is a good time to buy Call of Duty, for they will not release another game, just a patch to add onto the game to mac it run natively on Intel, without Rosetta.
    Hope this helps..

  • Call of DUty and COD:UO not even downloading on intel

Ok, so call of duty has been a problem since i just got my new computer. at first I heard to not even install it because it just wouldn't work. then i read that someone had installed it. so i tried. I put in the call of Duty CD. I install....okay.. now I go to install the COD patch 1.5. it stops installing immediately... i try again...same. SO i then decide to start over but skip the patch till later and go straight to installing the COD:UO disk. same thing, the CD stops spinning and the download stops immediately. what is going on here. I am about to toss my computer out the window. and before anyone tells me to clean the Disk...I actually burned New Disk so there is no blemishes at all. I knew the Intel switch felt wrong.. mac owner since Apple IIc......HELP!!
