No DVD Sound For Some

I recorded some voice in Garageband and exported it to iTunes. Then in imovie, I pulled the audio recorded and exported from iTunes into iMovie, then created a DVD. These recorded audios do not play on the TV through the DVD player, but play fine in both iMovie and iTunes. Why do they not play in iDVD on the TV? It plays in the DVD on the Mac, though.

I have a similar problem. I used iDVD to create a DVD from a Canon digital camcorder. The beginning of the movie was recorded using 12 bit audio setting and the sound was fine on the DVD played on my TV. Then I changed the camera audio setting to 16 bit and at that point the DVD has no sound when played on my TV, although the movie when played on my Canon screen has sound.

No sound for some online music content

I have just purchased an iMac 2GHz, Intel-based and switched from PC to Mac. I updated all software prior to going online for the fun of it.
I can watch and listen to some online content (CNN, N-TV, Pandora, etc.) but there is a Polish webiste called miastomuzyki.pl (an online radio station), where I will not get any sound. I get a Quicktime alert, that the URL is not valid. It is an .asx file that is trying to open.
I have already downloaded Flip4Mac (which claims to be able to handle .asx and .asf files in Quicktime) and also tried to download Windows Media Player (which didn't even install for some reason).
After Flip4Mac was installed all other website content seems to work, except this one. Since it is my wife's only source for her Polish music, I cannot simply use a different website.
Help, please?

1. My Polish is not very good. Actually, I can't even order beer in Polish and that is bad/sad.
2. I could not get music to play to while in my Mac OSX environment.
3. When I used IE 7 under Windows XP, the music played right away.
4. A solution:
a. Install VMWare's Fusion to create a virtual machine.
b. Install Windows XP Home in that machine.
c. Use IE7 to listen to the music
5. Another solution: trade in the wife for a new one.

(SOLVED) No system sounds, and no sound for some applications

For some reason, system sounds stopped working (like when one takes a screenshot). aplay plays sounds (I mean, no errors whatsoever), but I can hear nothing. Listening from mplayer or vlc still works as normal.
When I 'aplay sound.wav', I see the leds going up and down on pavucontrol, but I hear nothing.
I run openbox and I don't start gnome-settings-daemon with it. It is "pure" openbox.
I checked pavucontrol settings, and also alsamixer but couldn't find anything that could solve the problem. I use pulse-audio, and have pulseaudio-alsa and alsa-utils installed.

Yeah, I can guarantee that I didn't touch alsamixer myself. I didn't even know the F6 option (although, today I realized it is there very well visible). Anyway, I guess an update might have changed something... I saw other people with similar problems in #archlinux this morning.

Have you got notifications muted ? That will mute notifications (including games), so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, will still get sound.
If its an iPad Air 2 then notification mute and rotation lock are controlled via Control Centre : Turn on Mute and Orientation Lock on iPad Air 2 - Apple Support
If it's the first gen iPad Air then depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via Control Centre : swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and it's the right-most of the 5 icons in the middle of it (if the icon is white then it's 'on', tap it to turn it grey and 'off'). Mail sound for only certain accounts

Hi. I would like to only hear the new mail sound for some accounts and not others. Is there a way I can set this up in the latest version of Mail??

I'm not aware of any available sound setting that is account specific but you might take a look at creating a rule by account. I have a rule to play a different sound with recieving a message from a particular email address.

Recommended DVD format for distribution?

Hello all!
I am just finishing my training/lessons video, created
in Elements 3.
Now, I am deciding how to make copies of my project
for the sake of distribution.
I anticipate a "small" quantity (less than 100) so Id like
to burn the DVD's with my home computer.
My project actually came in at 1 hour 25 minutes, so if I
write to a "standard" DVD, Premiere will do some compression
which may be good enough for a training video.
At any rate, does anyone have an idea of what format DVD will
be the most compatible with the most peoples DVD players?
Im considering DVD-R, DVD+R, and DL (Dual Layer).
(PS: Ive checked with DiskMakers and their "short-runs" are
made with a replicator, so my query would still stand if I
farmed-out the project to them.)

Taiyo Yuden are considered by many to be the best recordable DVDs you can buy. If you're interested, research via Google...
The only thing you really need to watch out for is whether you're getting genuine Taiyo Yuden media (watch out for fakes).
Well, another thing is that TY seemingly makes about a gazillion different variations, so for the first-time buyer it can be a bit hard to figure out exactly what you need.
For instance, your post said you were looking at "silver thermal"... I believe that's shorthand for DVDs that can be printed on via high-end thermal printers. You probably don't need that, although it doesn't hurt, either.
Here's what I always remember to look for with Taiyo Yuden:
* Value line vs. Premium line. They have two product lines, "value" and "premium". I have no idea what the difference is, although I always get the premium because it's usually only a few cents per DVD more, and I *assume* that "Value Line" would mean it's something less than the premium??? Although, I've never seen/heard complains about the Value line, so it could just be cosmetic. In any event, I mention this just so you're aware that if you're comparison shopping, you could be comparing prices of one site's Value media with another site's Premium media... in some cases "Value Line" is specifically mentioned in the description, but in other cases it's like pulling teeth to figure it out.
* DVD-R. For some reason, seems to be easier to find this format than DVD+R, so that's what I get. Avoid DVD+RW, DVD-RW, or dual layer since you'll run into compatibility problems with off-the-shelf DVD players.
* Cake box is desirable (this is the spindle and cover you normally see in the stores). TY also sells "wrapped in tape"... same media, but you get 100 DVDs wrapped only in cellophane - after you open it, you've a stack of 100 loose DVDs waiting to be knocked over! I've taken to just keeping my old cake boxes :)
* A DVDs can be non-printable, printable via inkjet, or printable on a thermal printer. If printable, you can either print only up to the hub (usually labeled just "Printable"), or up to the hole in the middle ("Hub Printable"). Printable DVDs are hard to find in the store. Online, it's hard to find ones that aren't. Go figure. In any event, my printer (a cheapy HP 5160) will print directly on CD/DVD (which is VERY COOL!), so I get the "hub printable" inkjet DVDs. As far as I know, they're all equivalent except for what type of printing is possible.
Putting that all together, here's what I ordered last time:
"Taiyo Yuden Premium White Inkjet Hub Printable 8X DVD-R Media (Premium Line) in Tape Wrap (Free Ground Shipping)", mfgr. part. no. DVD-R47WPP600SK.
BTW, I go one step lower than Hunt and actually use a 2.4x burn rate, even though my drive and media support 8x. Slower is better, from what I've heard, and I'm in no hurry, so...
Within Premiere, I "burn" my DVD to a folder (manually selecting the max quality that will fit on a DVD). I then use Nero and Taiyo Yuden 8x media to burn the DVD at 2.4x.
Using this approach, I've had 0 defects, 0 problems.

If it gets far enough to reject your serial number, it won't help to download it. It must have installed ok.
What is the message you get (DON'T tell us the serial number!!)?
Does it mention a "qualifying product" by any chance?

You can't get there with GUID/GPT.
There are tips on making a USB flash device that is bootable.
You can set aside a small 6GB partition somewhere and put Windows 7 installer there and run it WHILE IN Windows.
Windows Vista can be upgraded in place to 7 RC.
You'll need NTFS (30-50GB).
Windows doesn't support FW for booting.
You can create a drive that has Master Boot Record.

I just went through this and it appears that my Focusrite Saffire was the culprit. I connected all the outputs on the focusrite according to the way the jacsk on the back were labeled and then set up the multichannel speaker setup to match. Then I went into STP, created a pink noise clip and panned it around, the LFE, center and rears were not in the right place.
I reconnected the hardware to match the 5.1 pan pot in STP then changed the multichannel speaker setup to match. Everything appears to be correct now but I would have loved to have been able to just assigned the output busses to correct outputs in the saffire.
Next step is to pan that pink noise around with my SPL meter to calibrate the room.

Hi, I am not getting any sound from my Imac for some reason. I cant figure out why.

Hi,
As you have match, I suggest that you create a new library by holding ctrl whist launching iTunes. Select create new library. Sign into iTunes Store and activate match. You will now have access to your music and will be able to stream your music.
Options : get a new external drive formatted for mac and either download music from match or copy music from old drive to new one. Alternatively you could reformat old drive and download music from match - I would not be comfortable using this option as it means erasing drive before being able to use with mac.

1. Install Adobe Flash Player.
