No DVI signal, only analog and TV-out

Hi, I bought a new computer a couple of months ago and have been having some problems with my graphic card (MSI FX5900XT-VTD128). Most of these problems disapeard when I re-installed WindowsXP.
However, about one week before I re-installed WindowsXP my screen just went black when I tried re-installing my video drivers. First I thought that somehow in the pocess of installing the new drivers my video card got overheated or something and broke (highly unlikely, but I have seen strange things in my days).
Furthur investigation revealed that it was "only" the DVI signal that stopped transmitting. I have since then tried to enable the DVI signal with no luck. I haven't found any options in both the NVIDIA drivers nor the MSI drivers in which to choose analog or digital output.
My monitor shows that there is a DVI conneciton, but the screen is still black. In most of my tests I would have DVI and TV-out plugged in so that I can make changes in the settings through my TV.
I'm running out of things to try and I am very open to suggestion, if anyone would be so kind.
ASUS K8VSE-DX
A64 3200+ ClawHammer
Kingsmax SDRAM 512MB PC3200
MSI GeForce FX 5900XT (BIOS Version 4.35.20.38.14, 128MB RAM)
WindowsXP SP2
NVIDIA 66.93 drivers (have tried with MSIs drivers)

Thanks for your suggestions.
I already tried the driver solution, and it didn't work... However, I can try even older driver and see if they will enable the cards DVI signal. The problem with the driver solution is that there is no setting for choosing CRT or LCD monitor. In both dual view and clone mode I can only choose between a monitor and TV output... One thing I found strange though, normally at boot time (before the OS loads) I would get both analog and digital signals, but now there is only the analog signal.
The monitor solution I will try in a couple of days, when I will carry my computer over to a friends place and try it on his monitor. The only problem is that my computer is so damn heavy! :-)
I will keep trying and let you guys know how it worked out.
In the meantime, if anyone else has a suggestion, I'm all ears.

  • MBP video out to TV using DVI - both analog and digital?

I have a Macbook Pro 10.6.4 2008 Model with details are below on graphics card and display options. I am trying two hookups to televisions which may or may not be possible. Can anyone tell me if my DVI output on the macbook pro is capable of delivering an analog signal to my old sony tube tv with component inputs? Second part of my question is do I have the right dvi cable. I purchased a cable with 24 + 5 pin. This cable does not produce a picture on my analog or digital television. Just snow on the analog and no input on the digital. The cable that came with my macbook pro is a DVI to VGA converter and seems to be an 18 + 5 pin plug....with a few pins missing in the middle. Should I buy another cable with the 18 + 5 pin DVI to component or buy a cable to connect the supplied DVI to VGA converter - VGA to component. Please help I'm confused on many fronts.
    Thanks

I made an account and am replying to this because i have the exact same computer as you and i was also at best buy at around 3pm wondering the exact same things you were! The DVI port on our MacBooks are different than the standard DVI ports. Freaking weiiiiiiiiiiiiiird! Get out of my head!!!!
I ended up buying a VGA cable and using the converter that came with my MBP because the DVI to VGA cables at Best Buy had a different VGA than what the MBP has.
Our goals were slightly different though, I wanted a cable so i can connect the MBP to my Toshiba 42inch HDTV. VGA works but doesnt support 1080p, only 1024x768, which is not a fullscreen resolution. So i will be returning the VGA cable tomorrow and looking for a VGA to HDMI cable, if that exist.
So, to answer your question, YES, buy a cable that has the same ports as our adapter, or just use the adapter that came with the Macbook.

  • I am trying to hook my macbook pro to a sony bravia TV via DVI to HDMI cable and the TV will not recognize the signal. The same set up has worked with three other, though different televisions. Any thoughts?

I am trying to hook my MacBook Pro to a Sony Bravia TV via DVI to HDMI cable and the TV will not recognize the signal. I have used the same setup with three other TV's, each a different brand with no problem. Any ideas?

Is the TV set to take input from the HDMI connection?
On your computer, if you open the Displays preferences and do not see an Arrangement tab (or there is an Arrangement tab that shows only a single monitor) then there is something physically wrong with your connection.  Try clicking Detect Displays just to see if the computer can now sense the presence of the connection.  Check your connections.
If you do have an Arrangement tab, and it shows two screens, then click Gather Windows to bring the TV's Displays preferences on to your main screen if the TV is not yet showing an image.  Set the proper resolution (probably 720p, 1080i, or 1080p).  Set the refresh rate (probably 60Hz) if that preference is shown.  You should see a picture at this point.  I  recommend turning off mirrored displays if it is enabled.

  • AppleTV audio out to old amp with only analog audio

I'm thinking about getting the Apple TV for both video and for playing my music on my home stereo system. I currently have an old amp with only analog audio capabilities, but the new ATV looks like it only supports digital optical out, and the digital to analog converters I've looked for seem pretty expensive. How can I get the audio from my music collection (iTunes) to play wirelessly through ATV through my amp?
I currently also have an Airport Express which I use for audio, but I was thinking of selling that and just using the ATV since the ATV can essentially do the same thing as the AX with added video benefit. I've seen some threads on streaming audio from the ATV to the AX, but do I really need both? Seems like there should be another way.
I was thinking of connecting the ATV to my TV via HDMI cable for audio, and then using an analog audio out from the TV to my amp. But, if I'm correct, that would only provide me with sound coming from the TV. It wouldn't give sound out from iTunes, for example. Is that right?
    Are there any other options?

Followings are my observations in audio streaming with Apple TV 3 and Airport Express through AirPlay protocol:
-- Apple TV 3 come with only digital audio outputs through HDMI and optical SPDIF outputs. If you connect optical link from the optical output to optical input of any DAC and HDMI cable from the HDMI output to HDMI input on TV set, audio output will be transmitted through both digital outputs. Thus is is not necessary to turn on TV set unless visual feedback is required. There is no audio analog line output for Apple TV 3.
-- AirportExpress come with single combo mini jack (digital + analog) for audio output regardless of old/new models. You can connect either digital optical link (with Mini/Toslink adaptor) to digital input of DAC or analog line cable (inferior) to analog line input of amplifier. When analog line is used, digital-to-analog conversion is done by DAC built into AirportExpress for which do not expect quality is as good as most external DAC models. What do you expect from a single-chip DAC implementation vs standalone DAC models cost few thousand dollars ? Moreover analog line is susceptible to interference more than digital line.
So the decision to use Apple TV or AirportExpress, analog or digital transmission for audio streaming depends on whether you need WiFi base station features of AirportExpress to establish wireless network and quality of your audio system to justify all-digital audio transmission. Followings are what I use in audio streaming from iMac/iPad mini /iPhone 5 to audio system in living room. Quality of audio output is comparable with Sonos Zone Player as audio source.

  • Enabling Simultanious Analog and Digital Audio Signals

My apple TV runs through a Yamaha receiver. It is hooked up with component video and digital audio cables. I also need to hook analog audio to my receiver so it can play outdoor speakers through zone 2 (which only recognizes analog signals). Zone 2 does not work when I hook both digital and analog cables. Called Yamaha and they said to look for a setting on Apple TV that enables simultanious analog and digital audio signals. Does anyone know if/how this can be done? Or any other way to make the analog zone work without losing digital on the main zone?

AFAIK, the analog audio on the ATV outputs all the time. The audio output setting in the ATV just determines whether the digital output is Dolby or PCM. Try turning off Dolby in the ATV audio settings and see if that makes a difference. If not, the problem is probably elsewhere.

  • MiniDisplay Port (Thunderbolt MacbookPro) to DisplayPort Dell U2410m don't work! The signal only comes as YPbPr, no RGB and bad quality. Is there any solution?

I want to connect my new MacBook Pro via DisplayPort to a Dell U2410m monitor.
But the signal only comes as YPbPr, no RGB and bad quality. Is there any solution?
It works with the mini display port to DVI adapter from Apple but I want to use the DisplayPort.

    J~
cmelbourne91 was suggesting HDMI because many of the MDP/Thunderbolt to DVI adapters come with an additional DVI to HDMI (not Apple's) and you likely won't find any MDP to HDMI becuase of something weird with one of the Apple or HDMI related patents and the type of cable/jack/plug required for it.
As for my computer (15" MBP mid 2010), it almost seems as if I have your problem but intermittently. When connected to an external monitor or projector, the thing will project just fine, but then after some time (and no movement of the computer, cables, or screen) the connection quits. Sometimes it comes back on, sometimes it does not, but it basically registers as if there is no external display.
    Any additional info on this?

  • Analog and Encoder being collected only on encoder pulses.

I currently have the setup below and the XValue timestamps from the Write to Measurement File are not exactly at the rate I specified in the DAQ Assistant.  The DAQ Assistant just has analog channels with Samples to Read set as 10 (or 1, which does not affect this example) and the Sample Rate (Hz) set to 10 Hz.  The main problem that I am having is that the analog channels seem to follow the Frequency Counter in the sense that it alters the XValue timestamps in the Write to Measurement File and will only log the analogs and frequency channel when the encoder (frequency counter) encounters the edge of a pulse.  How do I get the analog channels in the DAQ Assistant to log as well as getting the Frequency Counter to log simultaneously with the correct XValue timestamps from the Write to Measurement File with or without the encoder moving?
Also, is the 100 ms Wait Until Next ms Multiple needed for the Frequency Counter?
Thanks in advance for the help.

The *.vi works correctly except for the fact that when the encoder is not reading any pulses, not moving, it delays all data acquisition for all channels (analog and counter) until the encoder rotates again or the counter channel for the encoder times out according to the timeout specified.  I would like for all of the channels to be able to continue logging at the specified rate in the DAQ Assistant for the analog channels and the specified rate for the counter channel (encoder) if the encoder is not reading any pulses.  Also, when the counter channel is reading pulses, the timestamp XValue of the Write to Measurement File is not at the exact rate I specify in the DAQ Assistant.  An example of some data is shown below.
    X_Value
                  Analog
           Encoder
    0
    2.231008
    0
    9.237507
    0.942442
    0
    20.366281
    3.523876
    5.227699
    20.725778
    -4.150966
    1.09365
    22.304438
    6.117589
    70.197237
When the encoder is not receiving counts, it halts all data to be written to the Write to Measurement File and the X_Value timestamps are not exactly at 10Hz as I requested in the DAQ Assistant.
    Thanks again for any help.

  • How to get signal from analog input and send it to analog output (real-time)

    Hi everyone,
I am doing simple task in Visual C++ and I am using PCI-6221(37 pin).
Basically, I want to send same signal from 'analog input' to 'analog output'
at the same time (almost), to make it real-time application.
Can someone please provide me sample program.
I would appreciate if you could provide me with the good tutorial which explains
step by step everything about programing NI-DAQmx for C/C++.
    Best Regards,

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This is my code in C++, you can optimize it if it looks too messy. This code reads signal from analog input and outputs it through analog output.
To make this code work additional  include directories and library directories must be added from NI.
    I hope it helps someone.

    Hi glivezey,
Try typing ''about:home'' into the address bar. Is that the page you are looking for? If so, go to ''Tools > Options > General'' and save it as your homepage. If that home page doesn't show up the next time you start Firefox, you should look at [[Preferences are not saved]].
    Hopefully this helps!

    Hi Myreiac,
Here's what the Apple Support site says you can do if you do not have access to a computer when your device has been disabled:
If you are using Find My iPhone, you can use Remote Wipe to restore your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode.
You can access Find My iPhone via the Find My iPhone app on your iPad.
    Good luck!

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

That e-mail just sounds like a phishing attempt, and trying to open and view the attached zip file is a major error!  It probably contains malware.  Fortunately for you, it's almost certainly Windows malware, as I've never yet heard of a case of Mac malware being sent via e-mail in this way.  But it could happen, so you should never, ever open attachments from people you don't know, especially in such suspicious circumstances!
Finally, I, like etresoft, have never heard of Avira.  There's a lot of bad AV software out there, so without knowing more about it, I would agree that it should be removed, using whatever uninstaller is provided by Avira.  If you want to use AV software, use either Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition or ClamXav.  Both are free and excellent.
