No EDGE means no iPhone functions?

So, 24 hours into my iPhone ownership and my E disappears. No internet, no visual voicemail, no e-mail and no text messaging. No text messaging? Yep. At least with e-mail, voicemail and safari, the iphone told me it couldn't connect. I've been sending texts for the past five hours which have not gotten to the recipients.
So, does this happen often? I called AT&T and they said that once I hook it back up to iTunes, it should be fixed, but I am at work and can't do this for a few hours. They said there currently were no outages. Any tips, or do I just have to live with the fact that if EDGE goes out, my incredible breakthrough device is just a normal cell phone with below-average service?

OK, so here is the thing you need to do for all of you that did have EDGE access and all of a sudden do not. Call AT&T's activation support number and have them review your account settings. I have 3 iPhones on my account and all three suddenly lost the EDGE and visual voicemail features as if the EDGE network was not up at all. In face that's what I assumed. But no, for some unknown reason the account settings for my iPhones had lost their iPhone attributes and the network did not know I had an iPhone. They reviewed my accounts and re-enabled the iPhone specific features and now it has EDGE and visual voice mail. The activation number is 877-419-4500.
Again, my iPhone was working just fine as a normal phone but the iPhone specific features (the data plan and the visual voicemail) had just disappeared.
Don't ask me how this happens. I'm guessing someone goofed while accessing our records or they had a data loss and reinitialized their systems and these attributes of the account dropped away.
Hope this helps.

I just got an iphone 4s. Now the search iphone function is not working. When I swipe the start screen, the search box shows up. But when I type what I want to search, there is no action. Please help.

    Try this...
You will Not Lose Any Data...
Turn the Phone Off... ( if it isn’t already )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... (But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the Phone On...

  • HT201365 Find My iPhone no longer works for me to know where my wife and children's phones are. In earlier IOS versions, I added my iCloud account to their devices and only had Find My iPhone function active.  Can't do that now; what do I do?

Before IOS 7, I created an account on my wife and childrens iPhones, iPads and iPod devices with my iCloud account, only having the Find My iPhone function turned on.  It worked great.  Now, with IOS 7, it is not working and I don't have the option to have the Find My iPhone function on my iCloud account on their devices.  Does anyone know how to make this work?  My family loses their devices frequently and I am concerned I won'e be able to help them find them.  Thanks!!

They only need their main iCloud account to have Find My iPhone on. If your account is not their main account it won't work. Only one account can enable that function on a device. They don't need to have the app on their devices unless you want them to find you.
If you can see the devices when you log into their accounts on your Find My iPhone app they are being recognized by the app. But as Winston said if they're not turned on, if they are not on a network, cell or wifi, then they will read as offline. This often happens when I look for my wife's phone when she is at work, her wifi system there does not keep the connection active when the device goes to sleep and in some areas of the building there is poor to no cell connection. And sometimes the service just doesn't pick them up for no obvious reason.
iOS 7 has several annoying glitches right now that hopefully will be resolved soon and this could be one for you. I would try this again by having all the devices in one location , restart all of them, make certain the function is enabled on all of them and that wifi is connected ( if you have a wifi network available ) or that they are connected to a cell network with a strong signal. Then launch the app on your phone and log in with their accounts, their locations should show up.

  • HT3226 My iphone 4s fell down on the floor and a very very small bit on the edge of my iphone were broken. Can I insert a new iphone body panel with replace the old one

My iphone 4s fell down on the floor and a very very small bit on the edge of my iphone were broken. Can I insert a new iphone body panel with replace the old one.. ???

I think I had it on the iCloud, I just changed computers and had part of my old computer backed up, where are the default iTunes info saved like the pictures and I know my contacts were backed up cuz I kept getting updated stuff that I wasn't sure about, but it was contacts where some belonged to my wife's contacts....but anyway, if the cloud backed up contacts, it should have grabbed pictures too? Like I asked before, if they were backed up to the computer, is there a default iTunes folder they are saved to? I had a crap load of pictures on there that I usually could really access if I was connected to wi-fi. I turned off my data stuff as I only have 4GB and between me and my 2 kids, we seemed to use up a lot of it. My son would play music from Pandora during work, and use up all our data til I limited him to only 3GB, my daughter and I barely used 1GB. Anyway, thanks to everybody that is answering. I thought I might have done good finding the dang sim card, but pointless I guess.
Ralph - F.Y.I. I would be happy to back up the iPhone if I could turn it on LOL......I am pretty positive I did, but what about Text messages? ANY of those saved too or not? Sorry guys, I don't know a **** of a lot about cell phones, but I do know about memory cards, but not sim cards that act like memory cards or look like them anyway. What is the purpose of a sim card if I may ask a stupid question since they don't hold any data from my phone stuff. I just hope my stuff comes back on the new replacement phone once I get it up and running. Again, thanks to everybody for the edumucation.

Well, since you've had the same problem, with three different phones, that all use different size sim cards, it seems pretty obvious the problem is with your carrier/coverage & nothing to do with your phone or sim card.

  • Location of devices in another places using Find my iPhone function

When I use ¨Find my iPhone¨ function or just when I try ¨iCLOUD¨ find my iPhone function, using my iPad or my MacBook Pro, my devices appear as located in  another state different of where they actually located. I don´t know what to do. I guess someone stole or could have stolen my identity. Can anybody advice me what to do.
P.S. This have been happening many times, although some times they appear in the right location.

What ever device you still have on had.  Go to settings - general - about - name - then the name.
I have 4 devices 2 iphone and ipad - which I've name differently so I don't get confused when using find my iphone.

  • What is other mean in iPhone summary

What is other mean in iPhone summary

    thanks
Must be the OS as kb1951 says. I did the safari clear thing earlier and didn't do much, i rarely use the browser anyway so that is not surprising.
Another question, it also says I have 2 GB in apps (110 apps), I added up each of them and it adds up to about 20 MB/app, 1 GB, any ideas on that one?

  • I lost my iphone and I use the locate iphone function to wipe to protect my information, but I cannot get the location to restore my iphone, can I request a permanent lock to prevent the thief from using it?

I lost my iphone and I use the locate iphone function to wipe to protect my information, but I cannot get the location to restore my iphone, can I request a permanent lock to prevent the thief from using it?, I call your call centre, your staff said they can do nothing, I am great disappointed as your advertisment said that we can protect our phone from lost, however, I think my phone has now been resale and reuse by others, but Apple cannot do anything with your so call "Find my iphone" function, I have brought 4 iphone and iPad for my family use, I will never use your product again and recommend to my company or friends anymore!
    Philip Sin

You are not addressing Apple here at all.
    Apple can do nothing.  Sorry.
Like any other make of any other phone, they cannot permanently disable it.
The thief is responsible.  Not Apple.  You seem to be directing your anger at the wrong people.
No phone manufacturer will do this.
"I am great disappointed as your advertisment said that we can protect our phone from lost, "
It mentions "loss"  NOT theft.  you cannot find a mention of theft protection.  Find my iphone is NOT theft protection and has never been advertised as such.

  • Ive changed my hard drive on my pc tower does that mean my iphone 5 is not synced anymore so if i want to add a new pictures folder will it erase my other pictures?

Each time you sync photos from a computer to an iPhone using iTunes, the non-Camera Roll photos on the phone are set to match the current settings/selections on the photos page of iTunes. If you moved your previously synced photos to the new computer and if you select them to be synced to the phone along with any new photos you want synced then they will all go to the phone. If you don't include them in the selection to be synced, they will be deleted from the phone. Note that you can rearrange the old photos into different photos on the computer if desired, sync just some of them if desired, etc. Each time you sync, the phone is set to match the current settings for photos.

I do not believe there's an app for that on PC. I do recommend getting the iCloud dashboard for PC and to try it there. I would myself if my PC was working.
    PC ***** get a Mac.
You can always go to iCloud.com to find your phone.

You can test some of the Edge samples here - http://www.adobe.com/devnet/edge-animate/articles/showcase-sample-files.html on iOS devices to see how they fair.
While its difficult to pinpoint what exactly you interested in seeing, if you google search edge samples you may zero in on some samples.

  • Localhost issue with Adobe Edge Inspect on iPhone

I'm synching up multiple devices to use Adobe Edge Inspect.
    I downloaded and installed:
    Chrome extension.
Adobe Edge Inspect on Android (on a Samsung Galaxy Tablet)
Adobe Edge Inspect on iPhone 4
    I am using a Windows 64bit OS.
When I inspect online websites, both the tablet and iPhone synch.
I have a local instance of Tomcat.
I have a very simple index.html (Hello World in it).
When I use in my chrome browser localhost:8080 my Android tablet is synched
The iPhone does not synch, and I get a request timeout.
I also attempted using the IP Address instead of localhost with the same result.
The iPhone is synching with sites that I access that are hosted on the web.
How can I get it to synch using Tomcat so that I can use my localhost instance?
    Thanks

This is pretty strange. I think you should try making sure Windows Firewall and any other firewall or virus protection software is off and try again to see if you get a different result with your local apache server.
Let us know if that helps. If not we'll see if we can come up with any other ideas.

  • Is iTunes critical to iPhone function? iTunes install is blocked by lack of CoreMedia.dll.

Is iTunes critical to iPhone function? iTunes install is blocked by lack of CoreMedia.dll.

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now??
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)
