No editable properties for pdf

Hi All,
Found a pdf file on the web.  Wanted to save some different view properties.  It is a fully editable file (ie no security).  However, there are no properties from the pull-down menus.  The menus are blank.
How can I reformat the pdf file to have the traditional editable view properties?
Thanks,
Starsky

Hi GKaiseril,
The PDF was saved to my local hard drive.
I do not know how the PDF was created.
How can I check your if it is a true PDF or XMLfile?

  • How to set default Header and Footer properties for PDF

    Hi,
Currently we are manually setting the 'PDF and Print Control' properties for each and every dashboard. We understand that print pdf properties are controlled by pdfstyle.fst file under $SAROOTDIR\web\app\res\s_oracle10\b_mozilla_4 but don't have the exact property names to include in header and footer section.
By default, we want to include company logo, the saved name of the report/dashboard tab and created time in the header. And page# in the footer.
Where can we set these and what properties names should be used in order for these to be set for every new request/dashboard that is created.
    Thanks and Regards

    Hi,
I created one request with logo in the header an page in the footer etc. and called StyleSheet. After you can import this formats by each request.
You can do this in compound layout.

  • Error editing task sequence: Failed to load dynamic properties for class "SMS_TaskSequence_ApplyWindowsSettingsAction" From XML into WMI

I've started getting an intermittent error editing my Windows 7 OSD task sequence.  Sometimes I can open the TS to edit, but when I try to apply changes I get the error.  Other times I get the error when trying to open the TS.  If I try again
right away, I still get the error, but if I wait a few minutes and try again sometimes it will open the TS.
    The error reads:

I exported the task sequence and checked in "object.xml" for the "ApplyWindowsSettingsAction", to see if there was something odd in the xml, but I don't find anything that jumps out as being wrong.  Here's the section of XML for

Is there any other log I should check for a clue on this issue?  What could be causing this error?

Thanks for sharing that!  I tend to save contacting MS support until after I've exhausted other options.  I'm always afraid that I'll spend the $500 to open a case and then it turns out to be something simple that I would have found if I had just
kept working on it myself a little longer.
It looks like that link is for an update released in February as KB3023562.  I downloaded and installed it. I'll try opening/editing/saving the task sequence a few times today to see if the issue is resolved.
After I had already installed it, I thought to look up that update in configmgr.  The update is listed as superseded by 2 other updates.  The newest of those is KB3046049, which just installed last night with the other March patches, so it's possible
that I didn't need to install KB3023562 after all.

  • Designing a Field Editable Header for Merging with Exsisting PDF doc

I'm trying to accomplish designing a Field Editable Header so I may merge (import) into an exsisting PDF file to create 1 file.
I have already designed my header in Live Cyle with editable fields. The only issue is when I save it as a PDF file I can't merge this with an existing PDF file to make just 1 PDF document.
I also tried importing the header as a stamp but the issue here is the fields no longer stay editable in my header.
    My Business:
What im trying to accomplish is sending out Submittal Sheets (Information Documents) with a professional looking header. I want to make this a simple process were I can open up a PDF document and place in the header (has to be with editable fields) for several PDF documents.
Attached is the header I designed and would like to merge with PDF documents to creat 1 file. Please Note; the header has to still stay editable.
    Thanks,
Anyone that can help would be greatley appreciated, James Alto

And That would require a PC, because LiveCycle Designer does not exist on a Mac and most likely never, ever will.
Or would require The cost of Parallels about $80, Windows 7 upwards of $300 depending upon the version, and what ever Live Cycle designer Cost around $100.00
Or buy a decent PC (not one of the 2-300 dollar jobs that all is good for is using IE) with windows 7 on it. Then get a Copy of Acrobat and Live cycle Designer.

  • Want to customize Menu Bar - Where can I find explanations of the almost 200 editable items in the Properties for "ul.MenuBarHorizontal" ?

I want to design/customize a horizontal Menu Bar. However I'm flying blind on what the meanings (parameters) of each of the almost 200 editable items are in the Properties for "ul.MenuBarHorizontal" ?
Where can I find each item explained? Have looked on line and in the library.
    Thanks.

Here's a link to the help pages for the Spry Menu Bar: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Dreamweaver/10.0_Using/WS90E6DF98-60A3-41a4-B427-CD057D57BB7A. html#WS37318579-3916-46db-80D1-A8C5E6777BE5a
Understanding the CSS for a Spry Menu Bar is an exercise in understanding descendant styles. David Powers has just published a good tutorial on the Spry Menu Bar. His explanations are very good.

  • "PDF for Digital Editions" is not PDF; I asked a refund

I bought my first two books from ebooks.com (format : "PDF for Digital Editions"), costing more than $150. At the time of purchase, I knew nothing about ADE but I knew about .pdf files, I knew they could be read on my iPad and I assumed that PDF meant PDF. However, after the purchase, after installing ADE and downloading one of the book, I realized I could only read it on my desktop (what good is that?). Worse, the book file extension is .pdf and even my computer thinks it should be readable by Acrobat Reader but it does not open. I therefore cannot read it on my iPad; these books are useless to me. Bottom line, "PDF FOR DIGITAL EDITIONS" IS NOT PDF. This is not clearly stated by ebooks.com prior to purchasing the book.
I honestly feel this is misrepresentation by both Adobe and ebooks.com of the name "PDF". I asked ebooks.com for a full refund and I also want other ADE users to know about this. Adobe should either make ADE available to all platforms (like the Acrobat Reader) or stop using the name "PDF" and the extension ".pdf" for ADE files.

This is also compounded by the use of the ePub file format from other e-book resellers.  I can't help but wonder if this was done intentionally to hurt Apple's iPad since it advertises that the iBook reader supports the ePub standard.  The problem is that Adobe's Digital Edition ePub is anything BUT standards based.
For all e-book customers - research the .pdf/epub format your reseller uses to determine if it is indeed an Adobe crippled product before purchasing  - especially if your intent is to read it on an iPhone or iPad.

  • Edit properties missing columns for some documents

    SP 2010
I created a new document library and added several choice columns.  I copied about 150 files from an old document library using folders to the new document library.  23 files of the 150 will not let me see anything other than the file name when
    I select Edit Properties.
I downloaded one of the files, renamed it, and uploaded it as a new document.  It also will not show anything other than the file name.  These are MS Word .docx file types.  When I use the Document Information Panel it does not show the columns
from the document library (where I opened it from).
What might be causing these few select files to not allow metadata to be set?
Greg W Appelt SharePoint Designer Project Server Noob

After some more trial I understand, it is not "Some" of the documents.
This issue is with ID having "_" (underscore) in their names.
Can it be handled in some way by AI ?

  • While editing a scanned pdf, Acrobat will not recognize the current font & change to very different font. How can I choose the font I want to match the current document?

While editing a scanned pdf, Acrobat will not recognize the current font & change to very different font. How can I choose the font I want to match the current document?

Thanks for answering. The version is XI.0.10. I just did the update yesterday hoping that I could now properly edit a scanned pdf document. Yes, it's happening on most all scanned documents. I followed your steps & found the list of fonts used in the document & then attempted to edit. The same occurs. When I type in a correction, I get an error alert... "the original font (in this case Fd 5805) is not available or can't be used in editing. Acrobat is using the font Minion Pro in its place."
When I select the text & right click as you suggested, my only choices are cut, copy, delete or select all, no "edit text".
I have no other options to choose another font. Thanks for any help you can direct my way.

  • Checking for pdf/x Compatibility

    Hello there
I am using PDF Generator (from LiveCycle ES3) to convert WORD documents and images to pdfs.
In the PDF Generator settings, I am setting the "Compliance Standard" to "PDF/X-3" and the "output intent profile name" to "U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2".
Am I able to check (and more importantly verify to my client) that these settings have been applied to the resultant pdf?
When I open the resultant pdf in Acrobat Pro, in "Document Properties", the PDF version is stated as 1.3 (Acrobat 4.x).  However, there is no mention of "x".
In the preflight dialog, I can check the compliance of the document against the various PDF/X standards, however there is no statement of what the current version is.  Moreover, the button to analyze the pdf against the various "output intents" (SWOP, Japan Color Coated and Coated FOGRA39) is greyed out (I am able to "analyze and fix" against each of these options, but again there is no indication of what the current output intent is).
There are no custom properties in the Custom settings tab of the Document Properties dialog (if I save the pdf using "analyze and fix", a value of "PDF/X-3:2002" is created for the custom property "GTS_PDFXVersion" in the new pdf).
    Many thanks
    Geoff Olding

    Hi,
Knowing a PDF file's version premits deduction of what version "compatibility" is present.
Version 1.7 (Acrobat 8.x) lacks compatibility for Acrobat 9.x specific features.
Version 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x) lacks compatibility for Acrobat 8.x specific features.
    And so forth.
Certainly, not an elegantly simple approach; but, nevertheless it is functional.
    Using Acrobat Professional/Extended 9.x -
    Open the Preflight dialog.
    Advanced > Preflight
From the Options drop-down menu, Select "New Preflight Profile".
The Prefight: Edit Profile dialog opens.
A default profile name is provided (New Profile <number>).
Initially, Click the Save button to save the profile. You can rename it later.
Note that "New Profile" is placed in "Custom
Now, locate your "New Profile" in the column at the left of the dialog and select
    "Custom checks".
The available custom checks list loads in the pane to the right.
Above and to the right is a "Find" field.
    Enter the string "version".
    A filtered list appears.
A custom check is available for "versions newer than":
    1.2 | 1.3 | 1.4 | 1.5 | 1.6 | 1.7
and there is a custom check for "version older than 1.3".
Add the desired custom check to the profile. Save.
Configure the check for Error | Warning | Info
Info is "Notification" in the report that can be provided.
Once you have configured "New Profile" it can be used by a Batch Sequence to check multiple files.
When a Preflight is selected for use by a Batch Sequence you can configure for a "on success" and/or "on error" report.
    Be well...

  • Publisher name in Item info for PDF is not displayed

    Hi All,
Publisher name in Item info for PDF is not displayed (shows; unkown publisher) in Adobe Digital Editions. The Adobe Acrobat Professional does not have "Publisher" field to add Publisher name; it facilitates user to provide "Title", "Author", "Subject" and "Keywords" into the Document Properties (Ctrl+D)
Some one please guide, to get Publisher name in "item info" for PDF in Adobe Digital Editions.
    Cheers
    Vikas

For PDF the Publisher name comes only from the encryption information that is included when a PDF file is packaged for use by Adobe Content Server.  If this information was not included at packaging time there is no end user method for adding it in after the fact.

  • How to set Custom Properties in PDF

    Hi,
We are using BIP embedded in EBS R12.
For post-processing of PDF files, we need to embed information in PDF files which can be read by a script.
There is Customer Properties section in every PDF file (File > Properties > Custom (tab)) where information may be stored in Name-Value pair where in Name will be a predefined information while value should coming from XML data file.
I could not find any help/guide which demonstrates how to insert custome properties in PDF file generated from RTF template in EBS. Is this capability available in BIP?
Please share your thoughts on this.
    br.

You may be able to make changes to the web.xml for Infoview to handle that.
    For infoview questions you will need to create a forum post in the [Enterprise Admin forum|BI Platform;

  • Load, edit or delete PDF presets in CS6 InDesign not possible.

Load, edit or delete PDF presets in CS6 InDesign not possible, it says: The folder may be write protected.
How do I solve this problem? I also work with Adobe Acrobat Professional X.

    OK.
Lets back up a bit and take things step by step so we all know exactly what's going on, and what you've tried and haven't tried.
First, what version of Windows are you using? The use simple file sharing is the very last option on my system (XP Pro) if you open Explorer and then use Tools > Folder Options > and select the View tab. This is also the tab where you will need to make hidden and system files visible, and I strongly recommend showing extensions for known file types as well. As far as I know this option (not to use simple file sharing) is available in XP home, too.
Second, once you've taken care of the first part, please do a search using the search in Windows Explorer, for *.joboptions under all files and be sure to select more options to search hidden and system files. You may find these files in more than one location, but the bulk of them will be in \Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Adobe PDF\Settings (note that this is the same directory as the one in the tree called "shared documents" -- I have no idea why the name is displayed differently in the folder tree than in the path in the address bar). Right click on one of those and select "Open Containing Folder" option.
The folder should open in a new window. Click the go up one level button in the toolbar (looks like a folder with an upward arrow on it), then right-click the settings folder icon and select either Properties or Sharing and Security (both open the properties dialog) and click on the security tab.
At this point, in all probability, the allow options are all grayed out because they should be inherited from the parent object. On my system the only user listed is "everyone" and they have full control. If yours is different, please let us know, and we'll go from there. If it's the same we'll try something different.
