No electric guitar with standard Audigy

Hi - i have just bought a pre-amp so that i can use my elecric guitar with my recodrding software but am not getting any sound. Is this beacuse the Audigy 2 is not comapible as i had to use an adaper to fit my quater inch lead into the Audigy 2 line-in socket?

    yes this will work
you can also get a splitter cable that goes in to your in/out port so you can have 2 (or more) separate ports

    Mr. Rodriquez,
Thank you very much for your response.  Another concern of mine is overwelming the APs.  We have 70 of the
"AIR-LAP1131-AG-A-K9" APs and from what I've seen the 386 clients the 4404 knows of includes the 162 clients the 4402 knows of.
I don't how of a way to easily determine how many clients we have per AP, so I am assuming the clients are distributed somewhat evenly.  Considering the number of APs and clients we currently have do you see any problem with increases our DHCP leases to 200 or 250?
    Thank You,
    Andres

I think you'll find the best effects for quitar from KVR (unfortunately (for you) those are VST/DX effects and not settings for EAX like you're asking).

  • How to connect an acoustic electric guitar to macbook pro

whats to best way to use an acoustic electric guitar with garage band without a buying additional gear, macbook pro. thanks

"whats to best way to use an acoustic electric guitar with garage band without a buying additional gear"
I record acoustic/electric guitars & vocals to my MacBook Pro (Logic Pro 9) with exteremly good results........ BUT  my advice would be, don't spoil a good job for a little expense!
I use a USB audio interface (see link below) that provides facilities for connecting any sort of audio signal and monitor facilities for overdubbing multitracks etc.
There are many such units available, but I would thoroughly recommend the one below.
    Good luck...........happy recording!!

  • Is it possible to use a cable with two headphone jacks on either end and an electric guitar adapter to record in Garageband?

    Hey everyone,
I got my Macbook Air (Mid 2013 model) last month and I want to record my acoustic-electric guitar on Garageband (which came with the Air).
I don't want to buy a guitar that has a USB. I have a cable with a 3.5 mm headphone jack on both ends like the one pictured here on this website http://www.bestdealaz.com/item.php?id=628 (i didn't buy it from this site though).
I connected a 6.3 mm guitar adapter (http://www.ebay.com/bhp/headphone-guitar-adapter) to this cable. Then I connected one end of the cable to my guitar and the other end to the Headphone/Microphone jack on the left side of the MBA.
I saw how other people were saying to go to System Preferences / Sound and then change audio output to audio input.
    I can't do that. I tried.
    Please help!
    Thank you.

    Hello Massimo Pascucci,
The issue that you are facing when creating an endpoint with internal loadbalancer is the limitation of not allowing same ports to be listening under a single cloud service. This reason for this is that there is a limitation of only one private IP (Also
known as the Internal load balanced IP) per cloud service.
There is also a limitation on the Internal load balancer more than one port to be published per load balancer:

  • Background noise with electric guitar

Hi, I'm playing my les paul into a cheap (like $100) m-audio fast track interface, and picking up the signal with the usb on my macbook pro. I am using the audio port to send the signal to my line 6 amp.
I am quite sure i have set all the necessary settings correctly in the sound part of system preferences but i still seem to be getting background noise when i play. If i turn on the noise gate it takes away the background noise on dead time but if i play anything clean and turn it up i'm getting a buzz or something in the background.
How do i get rid of this, do i need a better interface,or a studio to actually record in or what. should i use an expensive mic instead and put it next to my amp? im just lost. i want the best sound and dont know how to get it....please help

There is confusion here the interface says m-audio fast track on it. I got it from a friend that is all I have used besides garageband and my guitar. My cable is a monster and should be fine in my opinion.
I started garageband and opend an electric guitar track. with the clean combo.
My input was set to mono input 2 , input one gives me no sound and more background noise.
After that I still got background noise, its like a fuzz, i read alot of ppl talking about a ticking sound but its definetly not that. its just staticy
ill try the headphones though...any other tips?

  • Turn an electric guitar into a bass guitar with garage band?

I'm a teenage DAW (is that the right term? A non-commercial person who uses software instead of hardware to record and mix?) and I am currently in the process of making my own cover for a song and writing my own songs. My questions are about an electric guitar (Ibanez Artcore AF75TDG) and amp (Roland Cube 30x). I am using a 17 inch MacBook pro. I also am using a USB M-audio MobilePre audio interface for my recording. I plug my acoustic guitar directly into the audio interface (I'm a bad boy... I need a DI box) and I have an OK mic for the amp I'm using (I would use one of the really BOSS condenser mics my dad bought, but I dont have mic cables in the house). I also have an M-audio "Key Studio" MIDI controller at my disposal. My questions are about the use of GarageBand:
    1) How (hypothetically) do I plug my electric guitar into my MacBook Pro to take advantage of all the built-in amps in the software? Do I just create the track as an "Electric Guitar" track and plug into the audio interface normally?
    2) I can do a bass line with my MIDI controller, but I want to try making my electric guitar sound like a bass guitar. Is there some way to do that? Like run the guitar through a software bass amp in GarageBand?
Please answer any way you like. If there is anything you think I need, please tell me. I can borrow equipment from my church (such as mic cables or SM57 mics, our DI boxes are pretty much shot now, but are still useable) if need be.
    Thanks all.

Most online reviews give just about any apogee product a good name. Especially the jam and duet lines. Before you buy product make sure you evaluate exactly what you will need out of it. Will you always be recording just guitar tracks, or eventually want to record more than 2 tracks simultaneously? If you stick to purely 2-track most people say apogee sound is one of the best.
I personally own a different interface (FTU by Maudio) but mostly because I wanted up to 4 tracks at same time for live and studio recordings. It's an ok product but probably falls short of the apogee quality. Think about exactly what you want from your setup and price range. It's all a delicate balance of compromise from there...

  • What products are available to connect a electric guitar to a IPAD 4 for use with garage band???

what products are availabe to connect an ipad 4 with electric guitar for use with garage band???

I know this will sound a bit snarky but the best source for information is an Internet search. Typing in "connect guitar to iPad" produced pages of products. This one looked interesting to me...

I don't recall if the iPad 4 has the new lightning connector or not. If it does you'll probably need a  30pin-to-lightening adapter.

  • Electric Guitar Feedback

Ok... i dont know what is going on...
I have a Stratocaster Standard going into an Apogee Duet...
I normally try to keep the input levels mid level with an acoustic but for some reason when I try to record an electric guitar into Logic's Guitar Simulation Plug-Ins I get feedback on high distortion settings... How the heck am I getting computer simulated feedback with no real amp to point my guitar at?
I've done a little tweaking to some of the high distortion tone settings and whenever I lower the amps master volume feedback goes away or if i lower the microphone simulation on the amp the feedback goes away. But since these are logic's presets... aren't they pre-made settings to use with an electric guitar?? Yet I'm getting horrible feedback with these "presets"
    Any ideas?

    hey.
im using the exact same setup as you also but running the output to a fender blues deluxe 410.
i have the same issues when using the higher gain amps. i think the thing is that feedback may be unavoidable, but i am going to look into it a bit more.
also, eventhough we are using a virtual amp, if the output is to a speaker with high power, the emf from the speaker will find its way back into your pickups so it is really the same as a real guitar setup.

  • Recording electric guitar into reason

I do a lot of hobbyist home recording and i want to be sure im getting the best possible signals. I've got a standard issue electric fender stratocaster being played into a Presonus Firebox, thats interfacing with logic. is this the best way to take your electric guitar signal into logic? does anyone recommend putting anything between the guitar and the firewire interface? maybe to give the signal a little more drive or warmth or anything to really get the best possible signal?
    thanks for the help!

  • Electric Guitar pl

So it would seem that we are able to just plug in an electric guitar jack directly into the soundblaster xfi or audigy 2 zs cards? And are we able to use our PC speakers as like a digital amp?
Do both cards sound generally the same quality for guitar play, or is one significantly better? The audigy is soo much cheaper.
What sound is best for this application and what programs do you guys recommend to make this happen?
    Thanks in advance.

It's best to use a pre-amplifier (mixer, direct box, POD, etc.) before soundcard since the levels may be low when you plug your guitar directly into line-in (or mic-in).
I think Audigy and X-Fi are ~equal for recording guitar (quite narrow frequency area). X-Fi allows you to record with ASIO without resampling which gives better result (ASIO drivers are best when record --> lowest latency).
If you select for example the E-MU 0404 (99$) instead of Audigy/X-Fi, you would get all needed recording software bundled with it.
Also, there are lots of software based guitar effect processors and cabinet modellers plugins you can use with recording software (see kvr site for example, there are freebies too).

  • Hooking An Electric Guitar up to Garage Band 3 on Intel iMac

This question probably seems a little basic, but this is my first mac since the Mac 128's and I'm not sure where I'm going wrong here.
So basically, I want to hook my Floyd Rose electric guitar up to my intel duo core iMac for the first time. This is something I've done in the windows based world forever - and I figured it would be just as easy if not easier on the mac. No luck so far.
    So here's what I've tried:
First: Installed my M-audio JamLab and tried plugging the guitar through it. Everything installed ok, but then the control panel icon for the jamlab tells me it can't open with my current version of MacOs, and selecting the jamlab as an audio input in garageband preferences doesn't give me anything. After a bit of research, I'm guessing this is just the fact that m-audio hasn't updated their jamlab driver for the intel macs yet.
    Ok ... next:
Tried running through my PodXT Live into the mac. Same problem - no updated intel driver yet and the current one doesn't seem to work.
Ok, lets try the low-tech solution:
I plug the guitar into a 1/4" to 1/8" stereo to stereo adapted ( even though the guitar is mono - its all I had ) - I then plugged it into the line in jack. Again nothing.
So the question is - what can I do to plug my guitar into my intel Imac at the moment? I noticed that maudio has some devices with beta drivers - do those work?
As for plugging the guitar straight into the computer - I also noticed that standard 1/8" jacks seem to be too long to fit into the mac's line in and line out jacks ( or maybe they would fit if I pushed them in really hard - but I didn't want to risk it ). Would I need an audio preamp to do this? Would the guitar cable on apple's store work any better?
I'd prefer to go with the USB solution if possible - but so far 2/2 mainstream devices didn't have working drivers.
    Any advice?
    I thank you!

If you want to go the USB or FireWire route, you need to check with manufacturers to make sure they have updated drivers.
To effectively use the Line-In you need a preamp of some kind. Some folks have used effects boxes/pedals.
BTW, the 1/8" plug should fit in the jack, there's nothnig special about the jack that I know of.
    Finally to use the Line-In:
