No eligible version of LOGIC found in applications folder to

Have 7.0.1 insalled; trying to update to 7.1.1. Installer can't find an eligible version to update in apps. folder. Un-checking language in info section nets negitive results. Also put Logic folder on Desktop, then tried to update; no good. OS 10.3.9 should handle it, Any thoughts?

7.1.1. installs on 10.3.9., but not on 10.4.0..
Get error message as above.
I use a generic version of both OS's.
As a matter of interest, I rebooted Logic 6.3.1 in OS 9 recently,
and tested its basic abilities. Found that it is far more responsive
and quicker in the essential operations. The original code has been changed for OSX and I think performance suffers on older machines. Dual boot machines are really useful as they provide a back door to OSX.
I submit that the differing "Builds" found with OSX could cause the incompatibilities I, and others, have.
RE: Limiters. I try not to use much limiting, but rather process each track separately. I also don't get the obsession with making the mix "louder" thru squashing the signal. My notion is for people to get more powerful hifi systems and just turn the volume up more. I find listening to brick walled audio really unrewarding. I also laugh at the "quality" of mp3's - anything that drops data out can be no good for audio/music. I have friends with G5's and am sticking with my G4 until Apple releases something truly useful to the pro composer/musician. Nuff Sed!!

  • No eligible version of Logic found in Applications Folder ?

The Logic Pro 7.1.1 update installs fine on the G4 and G5 macs (running 10.3.9 with RME PCI audio hardware) but on the Powerbooks (667 DVI, running 10.4.1, no ext audio hardware) it refuses to install.
The installer does open and for a splitsecond some sort of readme stuff is visible, but an alert pops up stating the updater wouldn't find 'an eligible version of Logic in the Applications folder'. Which actually isn't true as there is Logic 7.1.
I thought it might have sth to do with keyboard layout, system language or Logic's application language, but this doesn't seem to be the case as I have changed them to and fro to no avail.
Is it just portable macs that experience this ? Any ideas ?

Thanks for the tip, David, I know renaming can cause trouble, but Logic was untouched (at least its naming;-)
What actually did just now solve the problem was an OS (combo) update from 10.4.1 to 10.4.2.
Not that I would understand this, really, but I'm glad it helped.
Edit : I had mixed-up menu languages in Logic 7.1.1 when I first opened it. Closed the app and un-checked all other languages under 'information'. Now I'm back to standard english and Logics size also has changed from some 250 MB to 95 MB. Probably because all the .lproj language files went into an 'unused' folder.
In case you have trouble updating to 7.1.1 you may want to check if system and logic language match. My theory is that an OS update possibly sorts out the languages anew and this calms the 7.1.1 updater.

    Hi,
    Try This…
    First Update from Logic 9 0 0 to Logic 9 0 2
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL945
    Then Update from 9 0 2 to Logic 9 1 3

Be sure to do a Permissions Repair and a Restart… After Each Update.
If it works you will end up with Two Logic and Two MainStage Folders in your Applications Folder… This is Normal
    Hope this Helps,

  • When I try to move the new firefox icon into my OSX applications folder I get a message telling me I don't have permission. How can I get the new version of Firefox into my applications folder?

I downloaded the new version of firefox for Mac OSX.
I dragged the firefox icon over my applications folder.
A message window asked if I wanted to replace an older version of the application. I clicked "yes".
Another message window popped up and said I did not have permission.
    What now?

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded

  • Pages 09 v 4.3 still on desktop while version 5 is in my applications folder.

I loaded the update to "Pages 5.0" in October. I can see the new icon for 5.0 in my Applications folder but the icon on my desktop is the old icon and when I click on that icon the "about Pages" information tells me that I'm in "Pages '09 4.3".   If I open pages from the Applications folder I am in "Pages version 5". Why didn't the update change the icon on my desktop and how can I fix this? I've already tried to shut down my laptop and restart it but still have two versions available to me to work in.

Obviously the icon on your desktop is an alias pointing to Pages '09 which is in your Applications/iWork folder.
If you want an alias pointing to Pages 5, make one, although I can't see the point because it is on your Dock anyway.

  • Applescript folder not found in Applications folder

    Bizarre ...
I find an AppleScript Utility.app file in /System/Library/CoreServices folder, alongside an Applescript Runner.app file. If I were to go for an individual installation of this app - I run now 10.6.5 - Pacifist would like to install it at the same path System/Library/CoreServices.
Please, what did I missed some day ?

I don't really understand the question, but note that there hasn't been an AppleScript folder in the Application folder since 10.5. You will now find the former Script Editor app in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder, and it's now called AppleScript Editor. As to the rest of what was in there, see:

  • Downloaded Firefox 4.0, followed all directions. When checking the version the icon in the Applications folder to see that the new one is in, it still says that I have the 3.5.18. What am I doing wrong?

    I have a Macbook 2008, Mac OS X, version 10.5.8, processor 2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, Memory 2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3.
I downloaded Firefox 4.0 as prompted two times on different days and the same thing occurred.

Firefox 3.6.16 has a newer build and release date than Firefox 4.0 does.

  • 9.1.5 update installer says no version of logic is installed

I  bought 9.0.1 when I bought My mac Book Pro a little over a year ago. When I updated to lion Express wouldn't open. So I downloaded the 9.1.5 update, when I tried to install the update the installer says that I have no version of Logic in the applications folder when I am clearly looking at it?
    HELP ME Please!

You need to update to iTunes 10.x.  However, to do that you need to ugrade your computer's OS to at least 10,5,8. That is a paid upgrade.

  • After downloading ff4 into applications folder, then dragged (logo copied) to bar at bottom, when I tried to open it, prompt comes up that Mac OS-X version doesn't support using it?

received email notification, ff4 now available, click here , clicked on button as directed, file downloaded, dbl clicked on icon, dragged new icon to applications folder, looked up "info" and saw "ff4" to which I then dragged a copy to my bottom bar.
tried to open ff4 logo at bottom bar and was informed that Mac OS X 10.4 version did not support ff4?
    Luckily I saved older ff 3.6.16 @1998-2011
I have new version ff4 parked in my 'applications folder' but can't use it?

Ok, one of the rules in troubleshooting is to remove all peripherals and see if anything changes.
I had two 500 GB "My Book" drives (different releases) connected via FireWire, and one Seagate 1TB drive connected via USB 2.0. (I thought they might be taking a lot of power away from the main unit.)
So after shutting down the iMac, removing the external hard drives, and attempting a reboot from the DVD I was able to succeed! The verify and permission check went as expected - nothing unusual.
I then dug out my original 10.4 Tiger installation/boot/utility disks that came with my G5 iMac, and was able to boot them as well. With the Tiger install disk I was able to run the "Apple Hardware Test iMac Version 2.5.1", and it didn't test the DVD drive but did find something wrong with the Video memory! (It was apparent that something might be wrong here since the display wasn't clean but had a bunch of short verticle lines about 1/8" going up and down all over my display - it was bad enough that I could barely read the hardware test results.)
So, while I may still have a Power Supply issue (I should be able to boot from the DVD with my external HD's connected) I now also know I may need to have the video ram looked at.

  • When I try to put the downloaded firefox into the application folder, it says a newrer version already exists, do you want to replace it. What should I do.

I have several older versions of Firefox in my application folder. I downloaded 5.0 and when I went to put it into my application folder a pop up window said a NEWER version already is in the folder - do I want to replace it.
It doesn't make sense. It won't just accept the new version as it previously did with other versions. I just want to know if I should go ahead and replace version.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 6.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html

  • Applications folder missing from Dock and Finder

I was a little confused to find my applications folder missing from the Dock on my Macbook Pro today - I can't think of anything which I may have done to actively cause it to go missing. I opened up the finder and dragged the applications icon from the LHS of the finder onto the RHS of the dock, but rather than reappearing in the doc it just disappeared.
When I went back to the finder to try again I discovered that it had vanished from there as well. I ran a search in the finder for "applications" and found the applications folder in the results, but when I try to open it I get the following error message "The alias “Applications” can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found."
Does anyone have any ideas on what might have caused this or on how I get my Applications folder back on the Dock? Any help would be really appreciated!

The Applications folder on the dock is a shortcut, or more specifically, an alias.
It sounds like what you did was to drag the Applications item from the Finder sidebar...which is also an alias. By dragging it from the sidebar, it's as if you'd dragged an icon off the dock. It poofs and disappears.
To get them back, open a Finder window and navigate to Macintosh HD (or whatever you've named your hard drive). At the root level of the drive lives your Applications folder (the actual folder, not an alias). Drag that one to the sidebar to replace that shortcut, and drag it again to the Dock to replace that shortcut as well.
If you click on Macintosh HD and all you see are System, Library, and Users and have no Applications folder, then something terrible has happened.

  • When I try to put Firefox in my applications folder a message says I don't have sufficient "privileges" to do certain things.

I have a MacBook operation system 10.5.8. I have been using Safari and wanted to upgrade to the Firefox 6 version. I do have an older version of Firefox in my applications folder which I agreed to "replace" when queried. But when I tried to put the version 6 to replace the older version, that's when I get the message about not having sufficient privileges to do that. Please help. Thanks.

It is better to download a new copy of the Firefox program from:
    http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean reinstall.
Install the new version that you have downloaded.

  • After latest update - Numbers shows in the Application Folder

I recently updated Numbers and Pages and shows that the applications are installed under purchase section of software.  But the applications don't show in the application foler on my computer.  I can't remove the applications to try reinstall>
Any idea how I resolve this issue?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
he applications don't show in the application foler on my computer.  I can't remove the applications to try reinstall>
If, after following Wayne's suggestion of restarting your computer, for some reason you still can't see the latest version of Numbers in the Applications folder, you could try going to Launchpad and looking there for the Numbers icon with four columns. You can use Launchpad to uninstall an app. Hold down the option key until all the icons jiggle, then click the x by the icon of the app you want to uninstall. Then go to the Mac App Store and try downloading again.

  • An eligible Logic Pro version was not found in the Applications folder. This update requires Logic Pro version 9.0 or higher.

Get this error when trying to install Logic patch 9.1.4 to my machine.
An eligible Logic Pro version was not found in the Applications folder. This update requires Logic Pro version 9.0 or higher.

Thx, but i had already read that and tried it: did not work.
Got it fixed now by reinstalling Logic Studio 9 from DVD.
That indeed creates the Logic Pro folder in Applications - something I had tried earlier by simply moving my existing Logic folder. This means the Logic 9.1.5 update does not simply check a folder name: there must be another entry/registry entry it checks. Reinstalling Logic Studio from scratch solved it for me.
After reinstalling thought Lion forgot my Focusrite Saffire 40, so no DAW. Solved that by reading a forum entry on beta drivers.
So I am happy, music creation wise.
Left for me is to solve the X Mail application saying it does not run under Lion!

I even pulled the dmg file into the Logic Studio folder in my applications directory and it still does not recognize it.  What do I do now?

    Niel:  Thanks.
For others benefit, here is what happened.
I had installed Logic Studio 9.1 some time ago.......not knowing what all the programs were nor what they did, I created a "Logic Studio" subfolder in my applications folder and put all Logic Studio programs into it so I'd know where they were and could review each at my leisure over time.
My assumption now is that when the updater looks for the Logic Pro program, it looks only in the applications folder.  It seems lame that it would not also look in the subfolders of the applications folder, but that apparently IS the way it works.  Because my Logic Pro program was located in the "Logic Studio" subfolder, the updater just didn't see it..hence the error message I received when I tried to update.
Solution:  I moved all the Logic Studio programs out of the subfolder and now they reside in the applications folder. Ran the 9.1.5 updater and it worked like a charm.
