No email sound notification

Hi all,
on my new iPhone 3G I have several email accounts set to check every 15 min. When the iPhone is in standby mode it does receive those new mails, which I can see on the Mail icon when I switch on, but I never hear a sound notification, although switched on.
Is this supposed to work like that?
Thanks

I have been having the same problem and even got Apple to replace the phone.
Same problem on the second phone.
But, everyone I know who has an iPhone, including my husband, has the email sound working fine.
Has anyone found the answer?
Also, a question: What type of email account is giving you the problem and what is the domain?

  • Text and email sound notifications...........no options?

Incredible2 is my first smart phone so maybe I'm missing something here. Can't  I customize the text and email alerts with my own sound or am I stuck with the options that are on the phone? Even with the volume turned up all the way I can't hear any alert unless the phone is out of my pocket and sitting right next to me. Any suggestions?

You can set a custom ringtone for text messages, email, gtalk, gmail, etc. by going into each app, press the menu button and select settings.  There will be an option to change the ringtone.
For your own custom ringtones, place the mp3 or audio files in the following on the sd card.  The "SD carddrive" is the root of the sd card or drive letter when it is plugged into the computer.
    SD carddrive:\media\audio\ringtones
    SD carddrive:\media\audio\notifications
    SD carddrive:\media\audio\alarms
Once the files are in those folders, the phone will automatically found the files and list them in the ringtone selection list.  You might have to reboot the phone to force a rescan of the sd card.

  • Email sound notification is not working

As the title says, My email notification is not working (in a non-quiet mode) the vibration works in both modes. I have changed the sounds just to see if it makes a difference, but no. Everything else works, txt msgs, FB, etc ... Any ideas?
I have turned sounds off and on and anything else I can think of.
    Thanks

You may still be within 90 days of purchase, where you have access to Apple telephone support. If so, you might want to contact them.

  • Email sound notification not working?

    Hey everybody,
I know since the 2.1 update has came out alot of people have been having a problem with there push/fetch email not working as well as me. The only way for me to get any notification that email has arrived is to check it manually. I have learned to live with that till 2.1.x comes out but now I am noticing that even when I do check it manually, and I get the little number telling me how much email I have next to the specified account, I am noticing I don't hear the sound telling me there is new email? I used to be able to hear that sound? I have check the sound settings and email notification is turned on. Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem and if it's just a thing that 2.1 has done.
Any help or comments would be much appreciated
    Thanks

    Jim,
A .me (MobileMe) is an IMAP type account, and this behavior is well known for it, if in Mail Preferences/Accounts/Advanced it is select to use the IDLE command (which is to enable Push email that people like to use when accessing via cellphones. Is this the case?

  • Email Sound Notification

If your Notification setting is set to Normal Profile. Go into Notifications, select Normal then select Customise App Notifications. There you will see phone, email, BBM, text etc etc. In this list if the is a Star at the end of each app, then the sound as been switched off for that app. Select email turn Sound On and select any tone you wish.  Change your notifications or ring tones - User Guide - BlackBerry Passport Smartphone - 10.3‎http://docs.blackberry.com/en/smartphone_users/deliverables/65818/alc1334329583188.jsp

Hi, if you go to SETTINGS - NOTIFICATIONS then click on whatever PROFILE you want to make changes to for example NORMAL this takes you to a new page & then press CUSTOMISE APP NOTIFICATIONS this  will then take you to a fresh page then scroll down to EMAIL MESSAGES.......then click on whichever email account (if you have a few) and this will take you to the screen where you can then select different tones. Hope this helps

Are you using the Verizon SMTP server settings in your account? This may be an issue with the way Verizon relays the email and you may need to speak with them regarding the issue.

  • Why can't I get sound notification for my email anymore?

I am no longer able to get sound notification for send or receive email nor can I get sound notification for incoming phone calls.  What happened and is there a correction?

Before doing anything else, is your ringer switch in silent mode?  I'd try toggling the switch a few times to make sure it's working.  The phone should vibrate when you move the switch from on to silent.  If it doesn't then the switch may be broken.
Next make sure the volume for notifications is not off.  Check the Sound settings for this.  Changing the volume there should also cause your (phone) ringtone to play.  If it doesn't then there is something very wrong.
The only other thing I can suggest if the above doesn't help is doing a hard reset of the phone.  Hold power and home buttons down until screen goes dark and Apple icon appears, then let go.
If that doesn't work, then the only other thing you can try is doing a Backup and then a Restore in iTunes.  If that doesn't work, then there's a hardware problem.

  • Galaxy s6 email priority senders - sound notification

I setup my priority email senders in my new Galaxy s6 (email settings/notifications/priority senders on & notifications on).  But I think it works differently from my old s3.  On the s3 I would get a notification sound whenever I received an email from a priority sender.
In the s6, I get a sound notification, but it seems to be whenever my priority sender is on the email string at all.  I only want to receive it if they sent a message (or replied).
(Also, I would like to just get priority sender notifications only, but you have to turn on ALL notifications to get the priority sender.)
Anyone else tried this on the s6?

I realize it's important to have your notifications set up correctly, scarr2009. Have you seen this behavior ever since establishing the priority senders? Are you using the preinstalled email application?

  • Is powernap supposed to play sound notifications?

My macbook is always connected to the power adapter and I use it in closed lid clamshell mode with an external display and input devices. I believe my macbook does sleep in the night but often times I hear new mail notification sounds from my speakers in the night and in the morning! I believe it might be fetching emails using power nap but my question is, is it supposed to play sound notifications during power nap?
Please let me know so that I can ensure if my macbook is entering proper sleep or not. Any log I can see to find out if it has slept at given times?

    Hello there, AceNeerav.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some great information about Power Nap and the question you ask:
    OS X: About Power Nap

    Silence
During Power Nap the lights go out on your computer. System sounds also run silent with no fans (Flash storage Macs only, not including Fusion Drive). When your Mac wakes up, it’s ready to go.
Note: If you use the Play Sound or Send Message feature of Find My Mac, Power Nap does not make a sound.
Additionally this article may enlighten on why your Mac may not be entering sleep mode:

  • E-mail and Text Mesage Sounds (Notifications)

E-mail and Text Mesage Sounds (Notifications) are too low and since they all sound the same I never know if I have a new E-mail or a New Text Message. How can I set up different sounds for E-mails and Text Messages?

if you go to pimpmypre.com, you can change the ringtone for your text/email.  unfortunately, you cannot change them individually for text and email, but it expands your options from the pre default ringtone.
it's a small step, but not the solution.

  • E71 more than 2 email account notification

    Hi,
I've setup a few additional email accounts on my E71 phone due to work accounts etc etc.
I'm using them with the Vodafone mail push service, they work great, so no problems there.
The problem is email notification, on the home screen I can only have notification of two email accounts, and a "sound" notification only happens if these two mails get an email.
this causes a problem as I can't see without checking every $X minutes in the other two accounts.
Is there a way to have either more than 2 mail accounts alerting on the home screen so I can see if any of the 4 email accounts have a mail (and also get the "mail beep" sound so I get an audio notification)
or not as good but acceptable, get the phone to alert me to "a mail message" in any email account, then I can look to see where it is ?
    Thanks

Well I've been thinking about this but I'm stuck at some point.
so let me tell you about it.
you know you have 2 home screen modes you can switch at anytime. Default names were personal and business I think.
OK now you can set 2 email notifications per home screen so that means you can set 4 email notifications in total.
now the tricky part is setting those 2 home screens to switch automatically at given time intervals let's say every 15 mins. this is where i got stuck
i don't know if it will ever work but it's just an idea
    cheers
    cheers

  • Sound notifications on iPhone 4S with iOS 6 go silent occasionally

Since upgrading my 4S to iOS 6 there have been two occasions where the sound notifications (email alerts, alarms, etc) go silent (the vibrations still work).  I am able to get sound out for other items (music, games, etc).  The only way I have found to get the sound back for the notifications is a hard reset of the phone.
Has anyone else had this isse?

The strange thing is that my wife have iPhone 4 and I updated her phone to iOS 6 and it works. The autobrightness doesn`t go upp all the way. It works as it did in iOS 5.1.1
Isn't it weird??? It shuold work in the 4s too.

  • Gmail Iphone sound notification

I have been trying to figure out a way to get my Iphone to give me a sound notification automatically when I recieve an email. Pretty sure It did this when I first got it
Currently it only makes a sound when I manually press the "mail" app after it connects with my inbox, but I want to be able to only check my mail when I hear a sound. I feel some obsessive behaviors building up here !! LOL
Is this possible, with gmail? It seemd like it did this when I first got it but after a few emails I had to check the mail each time.

It is, and has been on. Very strange it won't notify me until I actually access the inbox. It makes the sound then,...but I want to be notified without having to sign in and connect.
    thanks
