No email via iPhone or iPad but fine via web.

I cannot acces my email on my iPhone or iPad but email is available via web. Error says username or password is incorrect, which is not true. Started around noon. Any ideas?

Connecting to an incoming mail server with an email client is different from connecting to an account via webmail access using a browser. There can be a problem with the incoming mail server in this regard that has no effect on being able to connect with the account via webmail access using a browser.
Who is the email account provided and have you contacted their customer/technical support?

Since 8.1.3 (might be coincidence) I can no longer get emails on my ipad. My iphone remains on an earlier IOS version and it is getting the emails.

You'll need to forward your AOL mail to the gmail account. You do not half to do this. Gmail wiil check the AOL account intermitently but its faster to receive mail if you forward the AOL account to gmail. You may need to create another gmail account for this one. Creating another email account on the iPhone and iPad is easy. Choose Add Account under your list of accounts in Settings, begin gmail setup as usual, name the account something to identify it under Description. Gmail will send emails from the AOL account but "on behalf of xx gmail account". This is all set up on line in the gmail account under IMAP Settings. Follow the directions to link the AOL account to the Gmail IMAP account, it's just the AOL address. When people reply, it is to AOL and then it's forwarded to gmail. The neat thing about this setup of the IMAP account in GMAIL is that all of your various products/clients including Outlook remain up to date as to marked read items, sent from whichever product, inboxes, etc., just like an Exchange account. Away you go.

The inkjet spam email is the same one that is causing my iPad's issue! I'm having the exact same problem as you're having --touching the email or having the email at the top of the screen freezes/shuts down ipad. I've been to two Apple stores and no one seems to know what's going on, plus, they claim they haven't heard of this problem i suggested they go to the Apple Commnity to get a feel for what's going on.

It's a COX POP email and I keep more on my laptop and in folders than I want on my phone or iPad.

POP mail is not synced. POP mail is picked up individually by each email client. If you want to pick up less on one device than the other, set the one device you want to master the account with to delete mail from the server after you pick it up. That way, it would not be available to the other mail clients. Otherwise, you would need to delete whatever mail you do not want on the individual devices. You can also keep in on whatever devices you want and it will not affect the other devices.

Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

This must be due to some kind of degredation of the Ipod. . It is not fixed by IOS resets as others have noted.

I am getting an email with an attachment that comes to my mac, my iphone, & my iPad; but I can only see that it has an attachment on my mac. Others receive the same email on their ipad and they can see the attachment icon. Help.

Try resetting the iPad. No data is lost. (Oh, and check your security settings. Maybe some kind of function is enabled, that blocks attachments etc.)
Another reason might be your internet provider (cellular provider), if you have just been trying to download the attchments over 3G/4G, although I don't know that. Ckeck with them, if that is the case, and try to download the attchments over WiFi (you better check out multiple WiFi sources, just in case the problem is router-spesific (many routers, mostly public, but also private have certain restrictions on them concerning the amount of data each user can download). I'm really no expert, but that's what I would do...Otherwise, I'm afraid, I don't know. Really sorry about this!

Any error messages?

Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Recently, I have become unable to send emails from my comcast email account. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the account, but get an error (Cannot send. Mail through Comcast exhange perfect on iPhone and iPad but intermittent problems on MacBook Pro?

I run on an exchange server through Comcast. My exchange mail works perfectly on my iPhone and iPad but doesn't work properly most of the time on my MacBook Pro. My MacBook is not that old. This happened with Snow Leopard. I just updated to Lion and it's happening with Lion too. It's happening with iCal, Contacts and Outlook too. Any ideas why it's working fine on iPhone and iPad but problems on the MacBook Pro? This is very frustrating. I'm having to respond to emails on my iPad when I'm right next to my laptop. Gmail emails work fine with laptop. Seems to be a problem with my MacBook and exchange server. Thank you.

The Apple IDs from @mac.com and @me.com (Older MobileMe and more recent iCloud Names) are also Valid AIM Screen names.
Any other sort of Apple ID is not a Valid AIM Name.
A Google ID that is associated with Google Mail Account (And has "Talk" enable on your Google Settings) can be used in iChat as Jabber Name/ID. (Google Run Jabber server).
Jabber and AIM are different IM Services and it is not easy or straight forward to add Buddies from one Service to the Buddy List of another. (As A Starting point consider it "impossible")
iChat 4 and 5 have links to the registration page of @Mac.com here with a "Get an iChat Account" button in the add (Account) screen (You select @mac.com or MobileMe and then press the Button - Choosing AIM and then pressing the button used to lead to the AIM registration page but AIM moved their page).
Apple IDs can be any valid email (or an @mac.com or iCloud registration)
Therefore you could make a Google ID into an Apple ID.
However this will not be a valid AIM Screen Name the way @mac.com or MobileMe/iCloud ones are.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Delete your mail account from Mail preferences and set it up again using the Mail Server Information.
Some users have apparently encountered issues using this information in pre-Lion set ups (I haven't), Roger Wilmut has kindly provided instructions for those who find themselves with this problem.
