No entries in trace file - ST01

Hello gurus,
I'm trying to analyze an authorization problem so I created a test scenario to understand how authorization trace works.
For this test scenario, I'm trying to enter SE38 with a user that has no authorizations and getting "no authorization" error.
I activated the system trace from ST01 with authorization check setting, got the error and then deactivated the trace. But when I try to analyze, there are no records about the authorization error I'm getting.
Is my test scenario correct? If yes, why can't I see the missing authorization from the trace?
Thank you for your input.
Kind regards,
Gökhan

Hai,
Check the parameters controlling the Traces:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/5a/ace282ca0211d194b500a0c94260a5/frameset.htm
You might have configured less space for writing trace files at file system level/hard disc.

  • Trace File -ST01

    In QAS and PRD I am gettign an excellent trace file on ST01, But on thePRD system I am not getting any..THe file itself is not created.. I am on 46c
    Thanks

    Specified will overide default.
    What this means is that rstr/max_diskspace has a deault value of 16 384 000, if the current value of parameter rstr/max_diskspace is 0 then thats the value that the system will take...
    You can either delete the parameter from your profile (which will return this to the default) or increase the value to more than 0 to give the trace some space to grow.

    Juan

  • EJB Exceptions generate entry in trace file

    Every exception I throw an exception from an EJB generates a stack trace in the oracle trace file. These are business rule errors like "Withdrawal Denied: Insuffient Funds". Can I turn this off? The J2EE spec says that the container should notify when an EJBException is throw to the container. How do I get the container to ignore my custom exception? My exception class is just derived from RemoteException like in the below Oracle example.
    package employee;
    public class EmpException extends RemoteException
    public EmpException(String msg)
    super(msg);
    null

    Hi;
    Please check who enable trace. Please see:
    How to audit users who enabled traces?
    check concurrent programs first
    *from the screen
    *F11, then select the trace, then Ctrl+F11
    Concurrent > program > define
    open the form, press F11 (query mode), select the trace, then (ctrl + f11) this should return all concurrent programs which have trace enabled

  • Return code in trace file from ST01

    Hello All,
    Does anybody know what are the values for the return code (0,4,8,12,16) in an trace file from ST01 ?
    Thanks you All !

    seems that you are very bored during the day ....
    The ST01 displays the raw data for the ST05, that is something which you will never in normal life. Return codes are also displayed in ST05, but even there you don't really need them.
    If you ask this question here in the performance forum then I would definitely advise you to switch to the condensed form of the ST05
    (SQL statement summary) see here:
    SQL trace:
    /people/siegfried.boes/blog/2007/09/05/the-sql-trace-st05-150-quick-and-easy
    This condensed forum shows you all the information whioch you need for about 90% of your work.

  • ST05 doesn't work : can't open trace file

    Hi,
    I am used to work with ST05 for years, but today, the trace DOESN'T WORK !! The trace activation and deactivation seem okay, but display triggers the following 2 errors : "File end of performance trace file detected -> See long text" (message 0S161), and "Could not open performance trace file" (message 0S113). I deleted all trace files in ST01, and tried again, but still the same errors.
    I couldn't find anything in sap forums, notes, etc. Sometimes, it may work again, but only for a few seconds. Strange. Maybe disk full? Or memory? (buffers are undersized, total memory is 1GB)
    But remember: it was working with the roughly same config since the beginning.
    Any ideas?
    Thx a lot.

    @Rob, how do you know? :-D (sorry but I must cleanup my history of watches (of my own threads too) because it's impossible to display the watch page (so that to turn forums watch off, allow being watched config , etc.) when there are too many thread watches)
    @Gana, maybe: ask the server to be restarted... and ask the admins to see if there are disk or network issues...

    The error I want to highlight is "FAIL TO PING STANDBY UMERCADO3, ERROR 3113"
    I did this testings on the primary server:
    - Unix ping to standby node , ok
    - tnsping to standby database (tnsping umercado3), ok
    Therefore I do not find the reason for this error. By this time I have defeered the transfer from the primary to standby.
    Any advice is welcome.
    Thanks!

    Suggestion: would attempt to make a sqlplus connection from the primary to the standby using the tns entry that you have configured for the log_archive_dest parameter. you need to connect to the standby as sys.
    What happened:
    I did a sqlplus connection ON THE PRIMARY DATABASE using the tns entry that is exactly the same used in log_archive_dest_2 parameter. Here is it:
    SQL> conn sys/*********@UMERCADO3 as sysdba
    Connected.
    Therefore I do not think it is a problem in the standby password file.
    Any suggestions?

    Ingo,
    I am getting below error message in BO Test environment when I refresh WebI document.
    MDDataSetBW.GetCellData. See RFC trace file or SAP system log for more details
    It was working when we migrated the objects initially. Subsequently when we try to refresh WebI document we are getting the above error message. It still works in BO Dev environment and the no of records are the same in Dev and Test.
    I am able run the underlying BEx query in SAP BW Test environment and it does return data.
    I checked ST22 and SM21 log, but no details there.
    Is it related to Authorization on the Universe or Bex Query?
    We are in the middle of UAT and not able to move forward. I would greatly appreciate your input.

    Is it normal, why the in alert file it is saying that Error in.
    And it did not create any backupset in folder of flash recovery but in Enterprise manager it is showing last backup on 09-may-2008, why ?
    Regards,

    See logical corruption is normally termed as the internal inconsistancy within the block which is not caused by Oracle but by the user.So if you find internal inconsistancy than the best option is to look at the user and ask him to get the values sorted out.If the internal inconsistancy is some thig like index fragmentation sort of things or index entry pointing to a null rowid than they are termed as the logical corruption and they should not impact your normal as he data is already there and there is no issue in reading the block as such.
    The term "corrupted blocks" I would call both in the tables and backup for those data blocks which are unreadable by Oracle which actualy is Physical corruption.
    If i am doing the checking at 2:00 am, does it take more than two hours.I didnt understand this.
    what can we do for Physical corruptionThis will need the block to be recovered with the Block Recover command of RMAN and a good backup.Read about it here,

    As far as I know log files contain lot of information about user activities like transactions executed, messages exchanged between systems etc......I already tried to monitor the log files at XI level, but it contain very less information about the executions.
    Solution manager and remote systems configurations are already done.
    I have the following questions.....
    1) Will Solution manager be the right choice to monitor such information ? If yes, then where and how ?
    2)  Is there any combined log file in solution manager which contain all log information about the connected systems ?
    3)  Where I can find the log files of solution manager ? (Is there a single file which contains all information?)
    4)  How communication (message exchanges) between composite applications is monitored in SAP ?
    How to switch on tracing for Log file (which trace level and what settings), offcourse it will generate lot of data

    Hi,
    Please download that attachment "scripts_1139623.sar" provided in SAP Note 1139623 - Using transaction RZ20 to monitor remote Oracle databases.
    Upon extraction of scripts_1139623.sar the following files you will get.
    rz20_nonabap.sql
    dbcheckora10_oltp.sql
    dbcheckora.sql
    Then Perform the below mentioned Steps to resolve your issue.
    Step 1: Create tables DBCHECKORA and DBMSGORA:
      sqlplus SAPSR3DB/<pwd>
      SQL> @rz20_nonabap.sql
    Step 2: Fill the table DBCHECKORA:
      sqlplus SAPSR3DB/<pwd>
      SQL> @dbcheckora10_oltp
    Step 3: Create the synonyms (as user ora<sid>):
    brconnect -u / -c -f crsyn -o SAPSR3DB
    sqlplus "/as sysdba"
    CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM SAP_DBSTATC FOR SAPSR3DB.DBSTATC;
    CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM SAP_DBCHECKORA FOR SAPSR3DB.DBCHECKORA;
    CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM SAP_DBMSGORA FOR SAPSR3DB.DBMSGORA;
    Step 4: Grant Privileges for OPS$<SID>ADM User for the above created Tables
    sqlplus "/as sysdba"
    grant all on SAPSR3DB.DBSTATC to OPS$<SID>ADM;
    grant all on SAPSR3DB.DBCHECKORA to OPS$<SID>ADM;
    grant all on SAPSR3DB.DBMSGORA to OPS$<SID>ADM;
    grant all on SAPSR3DB.DBSTAIHORA to OPS$<SID>ADM;
    grant all on SAPSR3DB.DBSTATHORA to OPS$<SID>ADM;
    grant all on SAPSR3DB.DBSTATIORA to OPS$<SID>ADM;
    grant all on SAPSR3DB.DBSTATTORA to OPS$<SID>ADM;
    commit;
    Step 5:
    Now after successful execution of above mentioned Steps , in DBACOCKPIT (system configuration), try to save the Remote DB entry with "Collect Alert Data".  It will be saved without any error.
    If you find any errors, post the error contents as a reply of this thread message.

  • Trace files vs. AWR

    Can I gather additional information using trace session or it's same information as using AWR reports?
    Is there any situation that trace files are better than AWR - of course instead fact that tkprof is for free.

    tutus wrote:
    OK, understand.
    But if so, when I should use ASH and in which situation I should use tkprof? Is there any best case studies for each tool?Roughly speaking the standard 10046 trace file gives you all the details for a single session; the ASH content is like sampling 1% of the same details across every single session. By capturing ASH you have a historic sample of every 10046 even when you're not expecting a problem.
    If you are anticipating a problem from an individual, or program, you would enable tracing for that specific activity so that you could analyse exactly where it spent its time.
    After a problem has occurred, you can go back in time with ASH because it is likely to have captured some of the details of the problem events and will therefore give you a clue (possibly even a very strong clue) about what code and what sessions caused or suffered from a problem.

  • Sql net trace file

    Hi All,
    Our prod db is 2 nodes RAC 10g in MS window 2003 servers. It is located in a remote place. Recently one of our local app servers lost connection to this db although we can tnsping it but got ORA3113 error when we tried to logon using sql plus. Most of our local PCs did not have problem logon at all. We enabled the sql net trace on this app server and network administrators spent a lot of time on this and finally shutdown one of the app servers in the same remote location which seemed cause a lot of network traffic with a local app server. So the problem went away and the app server can logon to the db now. I (I know nothing about network) tried to read the sql net trace file generated during the trouble time using the help outlined in the “Examining Oracle Net Trace Files” written by Kevin Reardon. The error happened after client sending server character set and conversion graph it supports and before receiving character set and conversion graph from the server. It took a minute in this step and finally gave up. Following is a section of the trace file where error happens. My question is: even we know when the error happens and at what step how can we use this info to further identify the root cause: Is this because we have too much network traffic which caused timeout or other reason(s)? By the way our db servers have “INBOUND_CONNECT_TIMEOUT=180" (3 minutes) in the sqlnet.ora file and whole trace file starts at [06-NOV-2009 14:50:23:352] and ends at [06-NOV-2009 14:51:24:758] which is a little over 1 minute. Greatly appreciate your insights and thoughts.
    Shirley

  • TRACE file question

    I traced a user session against our TEST database to try and find out why an error is occuring. That trace file was quite large, with several queries showing up as going against SYSTEM tables:
    select /*+ index(idl_sb4$ i_idl_sb41) +*/ piece#,length,piece
    from
    idl_sb4$ where obj#=:1 and part=:2 and version=:3 order by piece#When I traced a session against the PRODUCTION database there were far fewer entries. In fact, here were the differences:
    TEST
           1  session in tracefile.
          13  user  SQL statements in trace file.
         109  internal SQL statements in trace file.
         122  SQL statements in trace file.
          51  unique SQL statements in trace file.
        3964  lines in trace file.
           0  elapsed seconds in trace file.PROD
           1  session in tracefile.
          15  user  SQL statements in trace file.
           3  internal SQL statements in trace file.
          18  SQL statements in trace file.
          17  unique SQL statements in trace file.
         650  lines in trace file.
           0  elapsed seconds in trace file.Why is there a difference between the two. The section of the Form throwing the error in TEST has not been changed from what's in PROD. But, I'm missing 2 user statements, one of which is the one I'm most interested in.
    Thanks
    -Chuck

    Thank you very much, Mr. Forstmann, for your quick response.
    It is really helpful. But I have one further question. Since our server space is limited and we can't keep those trace files forever. So I still need to delete inactive trace files to save some space. Could you please tell how to found out if files are open or closed in a SunOS 5.10 server?
    Thanks a lot,
    Shirley
