No Events anymore?

So I used to organize all my imported photos into events. It kept things clean & easy to find. I could search based on the name of the event, etc. Events are now gone in the new Photos app.
I want events back! I really dislike this new organization of photos.

There's a way to simulate events in Photos.
When the library was first migrated there was a folder created titled iPhoto Evens and all migrated iPhoto Events are represented by an album in the folder.
When new batches of photos are imported into the Photos library go to the Last Import smart album, select all the photos and use the File ➙ New Album menu option or use the key combination Command+N. Name it as desired. It will appear just above the iPhoto Events folder where you can drag it into the folder
When you click on the iPhoto Events folder you'll get a simulated iPhoto Events window.

Cannot place photos in events anymore

I don't have that many photos or events (7,000, ok, a lot) but I now have discovered that I cannot place photos into events anymore, and I cannot create new events. Previously I had photos organized into both events (by country) and into photo albums (by occasion). Now I can no longer add/combine photos into events (after the upgrade to Photos). So my Japan photos can't be placed into my old Japan (event), only into my photo albums (for occasion). This really is irritating. I hope there is a way to fix it. Of course Herblock's Law seems to be Apple's new motto: If it's good, they'll stop making it.

I agree. Kind of ***** that Apple would remove that. I am still using iPhoto for now, since the upgrade did not remove it. I will be forced to look for alternatives as well. I'll add whatever I find to my current list for Apple fixes:
TotalFinder to fix annoying wide tabs in Finder windows.
TotalSpaces to bring back the old Expose.
Ejector to allow me to actually eject drives without being annoyed by pop-up windows. It's like Regis lives in my Mac. ARE YOU SURE???
Dropbox because iCloud is being blocked by my proxy at work.
Tuxera NTFS because NTFS is not supported on the Mac.
Hosts because it is easier to perform brain surgery on a cockroach than navigate the Terminal to make hosts file entries.
calibre because iBooks only provides one type of view. calibre provides a nice list view, easier to navigate than squinting, trying to read book covers when you have 300+ epubs.
cdock so I can get my 3D dock back.
1Password because there is no easy way to edit/change entries for passwords in Keychain Access. Oh, and 1Password also stores software licenses. Oh, and 1Password also works with Dropbox (see above).
Parallels Desktop and VMware Fusion because they still support Windows OSs that Boot Camp won't.
OpenOffice because Pages, Numbers, and Keynote are....well, they are what they are.
And I miss Glims. Used to get rid of those annoying wide tabs in Safari, not anymore. Oh wait...now I use Firefox.
I also wish someone would develop a plugin for Safari that would bring the Snow Leopard RSS reader back, not the eye-squint that exists now.

Ical doesn't show line breaks in events anymore?

Just if you haven't yet realized there at apple; iCal in 10.7 doesn't show linebreaks in event text box anymore.
No matter how many breaks you punch in, it shows up in edit mode but once you're done and the evnt is shown in cal, it wraps the text to gether and handles the breaks as spaces.
This is super annoying since I always write my to do list on the days and now it's just a big mess. Also the leather shin has to be one of the ugliest things apple has done in a good while. Just because of this feature I'd like to cancel the update and take my money back.
I rue the day i updated to this alfa level os x.

The size of the displayed iCal window dictates the size of the displayed text. Altering the Display Resolution is the only other choice to influence the size of the displayed text.

Can't see my events anymore after having up graded iPhoto to iphoto11

I up graded iphoto app to iphoto11 and i cannot see my pictures anymore, i just see the events as black boxes. If i open them I see just black squares but not pictures. It is probably a problem with The library, what should I do? Thanks

It appears a yellow big exclamation point.
I think that the iphoto library indexation system got some problems during the up grading, and now also if I see the events with the right names, the events do not point to the right folder anymore.
I could probably solve the problem importing all my pictures in iphoto again, but I’m not able to reach the folders containing the originals photo files.
If I go to iphoto library file and I try to open it, iphoto get open.
One time only I was able to open it ( I do not how, I’m not able to do it again) and I could see a folder with all pictures I modified (originals) and another folder with the modified pictures ( modified), but I could not find a folder with all my pictures.
I need to understand: 1) how can I open Iphoto library again without opening Iphoto 2) where should I look for all my pictures If I do not find the right folder in there.

ICal 5.0 double click in date box (month view) doesn't create 1 hour long event anymore

Double-clicking in a date box in the "month" view used to create a new one hour long event.
Now, in 5.0 it creates an all-day event by default, and removing "all-day" results in a 6 hour long event. Anyone know how to get it back to the "old" way? really annoying to have to change it each and every time! Thanks.

Here are some of the iCal event creation rules which may help you:
Enter a name, date, and time duration for the event, and then press Return.
For example, you can enter “Super Bowl Party Feb 6,” “Movie with Rebecca on Friday at 7pm,” “Soccer Game on Saturday from 11am-1pm,” or “Breakfast with Jon,” and then press Return.
If you don’t enter a time duration for the event, iCal sets the event’s duration to 1 hour.
If you don’t enter any time information for the event, iCal makes the event an all-day event.
If you enter “breakfast” or “morning,” iCal sets the event to start at 9 a.m.
If you enter “lunch “ or “noon,” iCal sets the event to start at 12 p.m.
If you enter “dinner” or “night,” iCal sets the event to start at 8 p.m.

My key photos are not showing up in Events anymore.

Can't think of any changes I've made since yesterday. The photos are still there when I click on the thumbnail. But the thumbnail itself is blank. By blank I mean a greyed out palm tree. The titles and dates show along the bottom of each thumbnail but not the number of photos in each event. The number is given as 0. Does anyone have any suggestions?

IOS 4.2.1 - can't sort events anymore in Photos app?

I have an iPhone 4 running iOS 4.2.1, and I'm using iTunes 10.1 and iPhoto '11 (9.1) on OS X 10.6.5.
In iPhoto on my computer, I have Events sorted newest to oldest, and it showed up that way on my iPhone before the iOS 4.2.1 update. Since updating, Events will only stay sorted oldest to newest, and no matter what I try (changing sort order and back in iPhoto, syncing in between changing sort order, restarting iPhone, etc...) I can't seem to get my iPhone to reflect the sort order that shows in iPhoto.
Is anyone else experience this problem? And more importantly, has anyone found a fix for this? I don't understand why iOS 4.2.1 would break photo sorting if there were no changes made to the Photos app.

The same thing happened to me. I was on a mission yesterday to fix it, but didn't get it to work. I have 1 more thing i want to try... but haven't had a chance.
Has anyone fixed this?
My plan is to unsync photos to remove them from my phone, delete all the photo cache information from the iPhoto Library package, empty the trash, reboot my computer AND iPhone, open iPhoto to make sure they're sorted correctly, and then sync my phone. If that doesn't fix it... i dont know, i might call Apple.

ITunes 11.0.4 doesn't sync iphoto events anymore

Since I've updated iTunes to 11.0.4, event's field on Photos tab is no longer available. Any reason ?

You may need to disable Photo syncing to the device and sync, removing existing sync content and settings. If that doesn't do the trick, the next step would be to remove the iPod Photo Cache from your iPhoto Library's contents. Both of these steps are detailed in the following article.

After I updated iPad ... Yearly Calendar doesn't highlight all my events anymore

I updated my iPad last week. Now when I go to the year view it doesn't highlight any events. It just shows the months with nothing highlighted. This used to be extremely helpful for looking at a glance what days I had available. Is there a fix to this problem? Using the monthly calendars is not a solution for me.

i forgot to tell: wehn i plug in the dvi to hdmi adapter, the screen turns blue for perhaps one second (which is a good sign i think), but after that it doesn't recognize my tv (which is a bad sign i think).

Movies imported are non in the "Events" anymore

Hi All,
yesterday I captured from my DV camcorder a user group event directly to iMovie.
Everything was fine, and I imported everything directly to an external USB2 disk, and that was cool.
But now I've to cut and edit the recording and I'm facing a strange problem: the .dv files are in the folder on the disk, together with all the post-processing done by iMovie "iMovie Cache" and "iMovie Thumbnails", but the events don't contain the movies.
To make the thing seems even stranger, if I select any "Open File" dialog, go to Movies, and I open the "iMovie events" item, I can see all the events and their content.
Any idea of how I can solve this problem? Otherwise I'll not be able to use the movie to make the final cuts and produce the output.

The events are seen by iMovie, but not the contents.
Looking on the forum I found a workaround:
I renamed the folder with the event, and then iMovie recreated all the thumbnails for the movie, it took a bit of time, but now I've my movie showing in the event library.
Seems like it can be a problem with the cache of iMovie.

Why does iOs 7.0.3 (11B511) not allow invitees on new calendar events anymore? This was a key function I used for my business, I really don't like most of the "upgrades" Apple keeps making

I can't add invitees to my calendar events on my iPhone 4s, so frustrating to take that away when it's such a useful tool, why does Apple keep making these so-called "upgrades" that only make things less efficient or productive.
I wish Steve was still around!

So, it can be done, only after you set your calendar event then go back in to edit it. Seems like a brilliant idea to create an extra step now, was obviously too difficult to leave well enough alone & create more work to achieve the same task as that was far to easy before.
Great work Apple, I thought upgrades & updates were supposed to be better & benefit the user, guess not so much anymore

Unable to change the name of events in iPoto 08

Hi.
I have iPhoto 08, and at first it was fine. But when I transferred my photos from my nikon d40 to my iPod, and then to my iMac from the iPod, i weren´t able too change the name of the events anymore.
This is very anoying. Hope someone can help me with this.

[SOLVED] Lid doesn't suspend anymore with xfce power manager

The options "When laptop lid is closed" are set to suspend (and used to work), but still, when I close my lid, nothing happens. Using the logout dialog or the suspend button my keyboard works. Is it a problem with xfce-power-manager, or ACPI not registering the lid event anymore? Any idea how to fix that?

I solved that problem by removing ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-power-manager.xml, killing the power manager and reloging in my session to flush the settings. Then I reconfigured the lid closed action to suspend (and everything else to my liking).

Sorry to bother you again, but for some reason it doesn't work anymore...
Somehow it can't lock the GNOME session, because when I enter the above line from /etc/acpi/handler.sh manually as root in TTY1, I get this error:

If I enter this command inside GNOME, everything works just fine, it locks the screen and suspends.
EDIT:

Determining when a JTable's model event is changed

Hello,
I have a JTable and I want a class I programmed to register to TableModelEvent events of the table model. The problem is that if the table model is changed, my class will not be registered to the events anymore. Is there a way to get notified whenever the table model is changed so I can register my class to the new model?
