No exes copied on installation

When I install j2sdkee-1_3_1-win.exe on XP, the exes (java.exe and javac.exe) are not installed. How do I install java 1.3.1 and the compiler?

Photosmart d110 copy/scan & installation problems on Windows 8.1

I have a few issues with my d110... First, I have successfully gotten it to print from Windows 8.1 but it does nothing else. I tried using the installation disc and the setup screen literally only shows Exit as an option... no install option whatsoever. I even removed the device and everything and tried it again to no avail.
Next, I tried to make a scan or copy and it shows a Scanner Failure error message saying "Unable to Copy or Scan".
I've read through several of the forums and nobody seems to encounter the same problem I am.
I have had this printer for a few years and have had nothing but problems with it from the beginning. Most of them are solved through hours of troubleshooting, but this printer is the biggest hassle. I'm not sure if at this point I should just replace it or what.... So frustrating.

The first issue happens due to incompatibility, the original CD is not intended for Windows 8.1 and therefore you did not see any Install option... any supported OS is listed on the CD label, Windows 8 is not listed among the options...
As you describe a scanner failure, we will need to troubleshoot such n hardware issue first, scanning would not be possible if the hardware is faulty...
Turn the printer off and unplug any cable but the power to avoid any affect.
Turn it on and try copying.
If the same error appear, the scanner hardware misfunction.. follow these steps to troubleshoot a such.. if those does not resolve the Scanner Failure issue it will require you to service the printer:

Error while running setup.exe for oracle installation on windows 2003

I am trying to install oracle 9.2.0.1 on my windows 2003 machine and when i click on setup.exe nothing happens. when i tried to run it thru command prompt again nothing happens when i check in computer management => event views it throws following error.
The application, C:\DOCUME~1\barb\Local Settings\Temp\1\OraInstall2006-08-11_05-19-46AM\jre\bin\javaw.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on 08/11/2006 @ 05:19:56.356 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 6D4CF9A0 (jvm!JVM_TraceMethodCalls)
can anybody suggest me what could be the problem or i will have to install jvm first and then try installing oracle?

Bootable Copy of Installation Disk

I have made a backup copy of my Leopard Installation Disk by the following method in order to make it bootable:
1. Open Disk Utility
2. Highlight "Mac OS X Install DVD" in left pane.
3. From the'File' menu choose "New -> Disk Image from disk 3s3 (Mac OS X Install DVD)
4. In the 'Convert Image' window give the image the same name as the Install DVD
5. For 'Image Format' select "read/write" For Encryption select "none"
6. Save the Image
7. Select image and 'Get Info' and make sure image is locked under 'General'
8. Highlight the image in Disk Utility and then Burn using a dual layer DVD
Having done this I tested to check that the disk was bootable by trying it in my 20" iMac 2.16 Core 2 Duo running 10.5.6 - Success !!
However....
I then tested it in my 15" MBP Late 2008 unibody also running 10.5.6 and it would not boot from the disk.The MacBook Pro attempted to boot from the disk but just got into an endless cycle of attempting to reboot.
If I go to Startup Disk in System Preferences the disk shows up as a viable system to boot from - but again will not start from it.
The MacBook Pro will start up from the original Installation Disk.
My question I suppose is does anybody know why this is happening ? Is there something in the new MacBook pros that stop this deliberately?
Is there a better way to make a bootable disk? - expensive for me to keep trying different methods.
If somebody has managed to make a bootable disk for a similar machine I would be interested to know exactly how they did it.

When you burn the new DVD, let the verify run completely. I usually stop it, but in your case, you really want to know if the copy if bit-for-bit identical.
I would also not that I do not use Finder and the built-in disk copy app, but I use Toast. I had some problems with using Finder as a copying tool early on and when I got Toast for other reasons, I just never look back at the Finder disk copy.

Server Control panel -> Region and Language -> Formats tab. If your format isn't English (United States) this could be the reason. For me, it's like that from the PS1 version all the way to latest PS5. After finishing with System Properties, just return your (language) format.

PSE7 Missing exe.file after installation

Hi,
I purchased PSE7 from Adobe store this afternoonn. After download of PSE7_WIN_DE.exe and extracting into the desktop installation folder - installation of PSE started and finished. But - there is no exe file to start PSE, not even in the program folder and the new created shortcuts by the installer are empty (by showing the windows root exe symbol, not the PSE). I have removed and installed it for serveral times now, always with the same effect - no exe. file. Can someone help me out?

If you have not done so already, turn off your security software and try installing again. Else, you can call Adobe for assistance. They will not charge for the support since you have an installation problem with the current version of PSE.

[Solved] Copying my installation to another partition.

Hello. I have 5 partitions in my laptop: one with Linux Mint, one with Arch, another one with my files, and I use the other two for testing other distros. I don't have a bootloader in Arch, I use Mint's GRUB for detecting and booting any distro. I want to do some experiments in Arch, but I don't want to mess up my main installation, and I don't want to reinstall it again in another partition. So, I was thinking, is it possible to just copy all the files of the Arch partition in another one, and then edit fstabs so it mounts the correct root partition? Or this won't work?

I have used this a number of times, and it works quite well. You might also want to add '-H' (to make it -aAHXv) so that hard links are preserved. This will make the rsync process more resource intensive though.
