No export command in Nexus 1010

Hi all,
We want to do a backup of a virtual-service-blade in a Nexus 1010. The document we are following is:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus1000/sw/4_2_1_s_p_1_3/software/configuration/guide/n1010_vsvcs_cfg_7backup.html
What we are supposed to do fron this document is to create a file named export-import, to shutdown the primary o secondary virtual service blades, and after it, to execute the command "export primary" o "export secondary", depending on which vsb we want to export.
========= DETAILED STEP IN THE DOCUMENT ================

The problem is that this "export" command is not available in our nexus 1010.

We don't know which can be the problem, wheter it can be a bug in the software, or we are doing something wrong.
Thank you

The export command was a new feature added in the 4.2(1)SP1(3) version of code. Your 1010 is one rev lower.
You'll need to upgrade the code on the 1010 to the latest code to get the export command.
The upgrade is pretty straight forward. Just download the code and follow the upgrade guide.

  • Nexus 1010 can not erase export-import folder

    Hi Expert,
After we import the backup vsb. We try to erase the export-import folder. But system show "Device or resource busy". So we can not execute more export or import command. Please reference the below image and help us to fix this issue.
Ps. The Nexus 1010 version is "4.2.1.SP1.4"

    Hello Meng,
I was able to recreate this problem in the lab.  It appears it only occurs when importing a secondary VSB.  A 'system switchover' of the N1010s frees the NFS locks.  Not an ideal workaround, but a workaround.
CSCtz44247 has been opened for this problem.

  • Nexus 1010 - Issue copying s/w onto device using SCP.

    Hi
I'm trying to copy the new version of s/w ( nexus-1000v.4.2.1.SV1.4.iso) onto a Nexus 1010 switch using the command:
    copy scp: bootflash:repository
The software starts to copy but unfortunately only gets to around 10% complete before failing. It's almost like it's getting stuck for some reason?
The file is quite large (163Mb), however, there is plenty of space on the disk (see below) so I cannot understand while this is happening.
    switch# dir bootflash:repository

  • Nexus 1010 Virtual Services Appliance and VN-Link Hardware

    All,
We are deploying the Nexus 1010 Virtual Services Appliance for the purpose of using the Network Analysis Module (NAM).  The 1010 hosts the VSM's necessary to deploy the 1000v switch in ESX.  We would also like to use VN-Link in hardware whereby we "bypass" the virtual switch and use the 6120's for the switching.  What I need to know is can the 1010 still analyze the network traffic using VN-Link hardware?  VN-Link hardware doesn't appear to need a VSM so I am thinking the 1010 cannot monitor the traffic since there will be no 1000v to "attach" to.  Can anyone shed some light on this?
    Regards,
    Ken

    Ken
The NAM module present in the 1010 is not exclusive for Nexus1000v traffic.
Its there as part of an appliance which happens to be the VSM (1000v) and is configured on its own.
If you look at the Nexus1000v, the VSM (which is the 1010 and holds the NAM in this case) is *not* part of the VM data path.
It is looked up for initial virtual port (veth) instantiation but after that traffic doesn't go through it.
So to send VM data traffic to the NAM module for analysis, some other mechanism (like ERSPAN) is used to route data traffic from VM's to it.
    The Nexus 1000v support ERSPAN.
Same logic applies that you have a NAM module somewhere else - the 1000v can send traffic to it via ERSPAN.
Looking at VN-link in hardware - It does have a VSM which is the FI itself.
The veth in this case is on the FI.
If the FI did support ERSPAN (which it doesn't currently) you could use the same NAM module or any other NAM module to send traffic to it.
So its not a limitation of VN-link in hw switching methodology vs 1000v switching, but the fact that the FI doesn't support an "export" mechanism yet.
    Hope it help
    Thanks

  • Nexus 1010 - No MGMT0 Access?

Hi all, I hope someone here can help!
I am setting up a Cisco Nexus 1010 appliance, but cannot access it through the MGMT0 interface!
What I am trying to do is copy over the 1000V .iso file to install a vsm, but I can not even ping the mgmt0 interface.
I have booted from the 4.2(1)SP1(3) iso, ran through the initial setup where I set the uplink type, domain id, vlan id and mgmt0 ip details.
Current config and sh tech attached
Let me know what other information I should post!
    Kind regards, Ash.

    Hi everyone,
I have a problem, similar to Ashley's in regards to reachability of N1010 in my lab...
I'm using network-uplink type 1 as it would be more than enough for my lab deployment. I have configured the CIMC and can reach/configure the device from there pretty easily. But, no matter how I try, I can't seem to get management access.
The N1010 is connected via it's Lom0 port to a Catalyst (at Fa0/10), which is configured as a trunk port. I'm using Vlan10 for all purposes...
The uplink switch has a configuration like this:
    interface VLAN10
    ip address 10.2.1.66 255.255.255.128
    no ip directed-broadcast
    no ip route-cache
    interface FastEthernet0/10
    description NEXUS_1010_TEST-LOM0
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 10
    switchport mode trunk
And the show running-config output from the Nexus1010 shows this:

  • VSM as VM in vSphere or inside Nexus 1010

    Hello all,
I have a question regarding the difference from VSM built inside a Virtual Machine in VMware versus the one inside Nexus 1010 in terms of communication with vCenter.
    According to this:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus1000/sw/4_0/troubleshooting/configuration/guide/trouble_17system.html
;Each VSM uses a unique extension key to communicate with vCenter Server and perform operations on a DVS.
    Extension Key
The VSM uses the extension key when communicating with the vCenter Server. Each VSM has its own unique extension key, such as Cisco_Nexus_1000V_32943215
Use the show vmware vc extension-key command to find the extension key of the VSM. It is also listed in the .xml file.
The extension key registered on the vCenter Server can be found through the MOB.
The same extension key cannot be used to create more than one DVS on the vCenter Server.
Is this true also for a VSM hosted inside Nexus 1010?
    Thank you!

    Thanks for quick answer.
In this case I have some additional question. In case of a VSM in VM and the vCenter in the same switched area it was easy to maintain L2 connection.
In case of Nexus 1010 VSM I might have to deploy it in a different area, so the connection from the vCenter to Nexus 1010 VSM will be a L3 connection.
My point is, do I need to have mandatory L2 communication between VSM and vCenter or L3 will be also OK as long I have reachability. I read a dozen papers and I got a little bit confused. I remember that L3 would be just fine, but I want to confirm before starting to design.
    Thanks!

  • Nexus 1010, out of band

We are installing Nexus 1010 using the topology 3 connection and we will configure VSB DCNM.
    1st Question
Topology 3, use the interfaces 1 and 2 for traffic management vlan and I want to know if I can connect these interfaces to my segment from out of band or needs to go connected on the segment from server.
    2nd Question
we are going to configure DCNM on Nexus 1010 which must have comunication with the management interfaces from the other nexus switch through of the network out of band. Management interfaces of VSMS should be on the same network OOB? or must be on another network?
    Thanks  in advance

    Hi,
Yes, it is possible.  When you login as admin and you want to get to another vdc, you just use this command:
    switchto vdc
This will take to the that vdc.  If you want to switch back to the admin vdc, you just type "switchback"

  • Could not complete the export command because of an application error

Every once in awhile I get the error, "Could not complete the export command because of an application error" when using the Save for Web option. It's really confusing because the error is not consistent. I don't get it all the time. In fact, 99% of the time I can save with no problems. When I quit Photoshop and reopen my files they seem to save just fine. Does anyone know why this happens, and how to prevent it from happening in the future?
    Here are my specs:
    Macintosh: iMac
    OS: 10.6.8
    Photoshop: CS3 (v10.0.1)
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

No idea about the specific issue, but I like to pass on some general advice I have received myself here over time:
    Boilerplate-text:
Are Photoshop and OS fully updated?
As with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems you might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed) by pressing command-alt-shift on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, cleaning caches, etc.) might also be beneficial, Onyx has been recommended for such tasks.
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/onyx.html
Weeding out bad fonts never seems to be a bad idea, either. (Validate your fonts in Font Book and remove the bad ones.)
If 3rd party plug-ins are installed try disabling them to verify if one of those may be responsible for the problem.

  • Could not complete the export command because the file could not be found

When I try to save for web, Photoshop pops up a dialog box that says "could not complete the export command because the file could not be found".
What is the solution for this?

Please provide more information (Photoshop version, OS, target volume, …).
Does the file’s or one of the folders’ name contain problematic letters (slash etc.)?
    Boilerplate-text:
Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by keeping command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift pressed while starting Photoshop after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, cleaning caches, font validation, etc.)?

  • Export to PDF - Can a single report (rpt file) create multiple PDF files using the export command?

    Post Author: markeyjd2
    CA Forum: Exporting
    Greetings forum members,
My question is, in its entirety: Can a single report (rpt file) create multiple PDF files using the export command, ideally one PDF file per DB record?
In my case; I have a Crystal Report that reads data from a DB table containing ~ 500 records.  When I export the report to a PDF file, I get one PDF file, with ~ 500 pages.
What I would like to do is export the report to ~ 500 individual PDF files; One file per DB record.  The file names would be based on the table's primary key.
    Is this possible?

    Post Author: Micha
    CA Forum: Exporting
    Hi,
you need some lines of code, but its easy. Dependend on how to start the generation of your 500 PDFs, you can write an ASP page and start it via Web Browser, or a Windows Script and start it via scheduled job...
Here's an abstract of the ASP code I use:
First, you create a recordset (here: "rsc") which gives you the list of ID fields you want to export, then you create CrystalRuntime.Application object, then you loop through the recordset, open your report (here: "oRpt") and set login info. Then set the selectionformula, so that the report displays only the data of the current ID, e.g.:
      oRpt.RecordSelectionFormula = "(" & oRpt.RecordSelectionFormula & ") AND {myTab.myVal}=" & rsc("myVal")
Then you export the report, move to the next record in recordset, and repeat the loop until recordset.EOF. Then you close recordset and connection.

    Hi Sabih,
For a Nexus 1010 pair to form HA redundancy, the communicate with each other via the Control VLAN. You would have specified this during your installation.
Can you verify that they are both utilizing the same Control VLAN.
    n1010# show svs domain
Furthermore, ensure that this vlan is defined and forwarding, on the relevant ports, on the upstream 6509s.
    Thanks,

    Prasad,
This means that there is some sort of a communication issue between the two Nexus 1010 switches in the control VLAN. You should probably check the upstream configuration on the ports that connect to the 1010 links carrying the control traffic and also the links involved in the control path.
    Thanks,
    Shankar

    Please help..................

to make your database in archive log mode you need to give a downtime of your database for this you can do following steps.
    if you are using spfile
    1. shutdown the database.
    2. startup in mount mode
    3. use command 'alter database archivelog';
    4. specify the archive log location using command
    ' alter system set log_archive_dest_1='LOCATION=location_path';'
    5. specify archive log format as
    'alter system set archive_log_format=your choice;'
    6. enable the archive log dest using ' alter system set log_archive_dest_state_1=enable;'

    1. where is my tcsh history file?
You need to configure tcsh to save history. Something like this in .tcshrc or .login
    set histdup=erase
    set history=500
    set savehist=500
The file .history will be created by the shell.
    2. How to hinder the grayed out history in my tcsh window at start up?
I'm guessing that sourcing perlbrew's bashrc is screwing up tcsh when it attempts to read it. The path of least resistance would be to change your shell to bash so you can use perlbrew. If you want to keep tcsh as your interactive shell then source perlbrew's bashrc in the .bashrc in your home directory. Create a bash sub-shell by typing bash in your tcsh shell.

  • Export: command not found

I have been trying to install something via MacPorts and was following a blog that described setting the PATH appropriately so that the port command would work, however when I updated .bash_profile as described in the blog and tried to source it, it gives me the error, "export: command not found."
    currently echo $PATH returns: /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/ sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11/bin
Any thoughts on how to proceed?

    Please post the actual code.
Also are you sure you are using the 'bash' shell (or sh, ksh, zsh shells)?  With all these shells 'export' is a built-in command and should never be "not found".
Could you be using the csh or tcsh shell?  If you are using one of these shells, then setting environment variables is done using the 'setenv' command, which is also a csh/tcsh built-in.
Use the following command to see what your default shell is:
    dscl . -read $HOME shell
If you have csh or tcsh as your shell, then use something like the following to set your PATH environment variable:
    setenv PATH "$PATH:/the/stuff/you/are/adding"
