No export from Mail to iPhoto since Mavericks

Since I installed Mavericks I cannot export pictures from Mail to IPhoto in spite of right click with "export to iPhoto" line
Can anyone help. Thanks

Upgrade iPhoto to 9.5 and try again.  If it still fails as a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

  • How to Export from Mail to iPhoto

I am using Mail v6.2 under OS X 10.8.2 and our daugter sends (crappy) pictures from her iPhone 5 to my mail. When I right-click on the picture, Mai presend a dialog box with an option to "Export to iPhoto."  Mouse clicking on this option does nothing.  I have even tried it with iPhoto open and it still does not work. Teh only way I have been able to get photos from Mail to iPhoto is to drag copy to iPhotol.
How to i activated the "Export to iPhoto"  opton in Mail?

You should be able to click on Save:

  • Plugin to transfert photo from Mail to iPhoto?

    Hi,
My mother is using 10.3 Mail and iPhoto 5 (ithink, not sure of the version!).
She received many times photos in Mail. She would like a simple way to move pintures from Mail attachement to iPhoto. 10.4 includes a feature like this.
I'd like to know if there is any Mail plugin or any (really easy) hint that can help her move her photos from Mail to iPhoto.
    Thanks

    Steve --
I'm not positive about panther, but what happens if your mother selects the "SAVE" button next to the Paper Clip "Attachments" notice at the bottom of the mail header? (Just above the actual message)
In Tiger, you get the option to download the files, or "Add to iPhoto." Have her check this, OK?

All of sudden my Apple Mail won't transfer photos from Mail to iPhoto using the "add to iPhoto" feature in the drop down menu. Do you know how to fix this?

mmchisholm - just so you know you're not alone, I too am having the exact same issue as of latest software update bundle. Have to manually add each photo until Apple issues solution or minor software update.

  • Apple Mail locks up since Maverick install

Has anyone else experienced Apple Mail failure since Maverick OS X?   It comes up and is deadly slow... often freezing.  I have had to download Thunderbird as an alternative until this problem is fixed.
If anyone knows a solution or workaround, would be most appreciated.

See if deleting the cache associated with Mail helps ..
Quit the Mail app if it's open.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.mail/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
    Try Mail.

  • Exporting from ios 7 iphoto to mac iphoto

    Hello.
Is there an easy (and logical) way to export photos from ios 7 iphoto to mac iphoto?
I thought they had better (if any) integration.
I recently travelled to Asia and took pictures only with the iphone. As I take pictures of everything around me, I ran out of space and downloaded ios 7 iphoto to iphone and ipad, so I could send from one to the other. After a few days I discovered that although iphoto would show pictures from the camera roll, camera roll wouldn't show pictures imported to the iphoto if I didn't save them there.
Well, now I have like 5 thousand pics that I need to save to the camera roll in order to export to mac maverick's iphoto (which makes no sense to me). Now, the problem. I see an option called "SELECT ALL", but I cannot use it. So, I had to do it 100 by hundred, only to realise that, once I did 100, it would be added to the roll, then to iphoto and I'd accidently mark the new (old) ones and so I ended up with MANY of them multiplied X times.
    Can anyone help me?

I thought they had better (if any) integration.
Both are very different applications for different purposes, and they do not share much more than the name.
iPhoto on iOS is meant for easy sharing of photos on social media or similar and sending the photos onward, and are meant for just a few selected photos at a time, not for maintaining a large photo library and syncing it with a mac or other devices - see this page (What is iPhoto?), what iPhoto 2.0 is meant for.
The well supported ways to transfer photos from the iDevices  to the computer are Photo Stream and connecting to USB - both require the photos to be saved to the Camera Roll, as you noticed, but at least they will transfer the photos at the full resolution. (see: Ways to share photos)
Your best bet to get 5000 photos off your devices, probably would be sharing to iTunes:
Save photos to your computer using iTunes
Connect your iOS device to your computer.
Tap a photo, album, event, web journal, or slideshow and tap the share button > iTunes.
Tap Selected, or change the photos you want to save (if you are saving a slideshow skip to step 4):
Select different photos: Tap Choose Photos, tap one or more photos, and tap Next.
Select a range of photos: Tap Choose Photos, tap Range, tap the first and last photos in the range, and tap Next.
Select all the photos in an album or event: Tap All.
In iTunes, click the button for your device and click Apps at the top of the window.
Below File Sharing, select iPhoto (in Apps).
Select the Shared Photos folder under iPhoto Documents.
Click Save To and select the location on your computer where you want to save the items.
To view your photos, go to the Finder and look in the location you selected above.
Or use "Share > Other Apps" and save to Dropbox or other syncing appps.

Addd: to remember, which photos you already saved, I'd add tags, that will group them into albums in iPhoto.

  • How do I export from Aperture to iPhoto?

Ok, I am very new at all of this, and find it quite confusing.
I took several hundred raw photos and imported them into Aperture. I believe they are all in a 'project', the yellow box looking icon? Then, I created numerous folders inside this project, in which I carefully sorted all my photos by subject - about 18 folders. Then, I worked with each folder, fine tuning each image, and adding exif metadata, and rating each image. So far so good.
Now, I want to bring all this images (as full size jpegs) into iPhoto.. this is where I am getting bogged down. There is an export function in Aperture, and an import function in iPhoto: which do I use?
I have been experimenting with various scenarios, but nothing seems to be working the way I want.. specifically, to have all my images in iPhoto - IN THE SAME STRUCTURE as I have in Aperture. When I did manage to bring them into iPhoto, they all came over in one big massive event, leaving all my sorting and ratings behind. This can't be right.. I don't want to resort them all again, moving them into the appropriate folders. And I don't want to have to re-enter the exif metadata and ratings again.
Can someone please help me with this?

Export from Aperture and then import to iPhoto.
Alternatively, you can share your Previews with iPhoto but that gets only the Preview.
FWIW: your workflow makes no sense. It's like writing your novel in TextEdit then opening it in Word to Spell Check and then copying it back to TextEdit. Why not just write your novel in Word? Aperture is not an editor. It's a complete replacement for iPhoto. It will do everything that iPhoto does, and then more. Or if you want to stick with iPhoto, get an editor and use it as an external editor in that.

  • Cant find photo from Mail in iPhoto

From Mail, I selected Save. The photo went into Downloads.
I went to iPhoto but how do I get the photo into iPhoto. Does it appear by default or do I have to do something from Download folder?

IF you saved the photo to the Downloads folder, you now need to add the pic to iPhoto. Drag it to the iPhoto Window, or to the Dock Icon or use the File -> Import command.
On the other hand, if you click and hold on the Save button in the Message window you'll get an option to Save to iPhoto.

  • Photos saved from Mail to iPhoto won't display

I recently converted my niece from a PC to an new 14 inch iBook. She has 10.4.2 and all the latest software updates. When she clicks on the "Save" button in Mail her photos do not appear in iPhoto. After proving to myself this was really happening, I found the missing photos. They are being saved at the root level in the iPhoto folder-not in the respective photo folders. I suspect that this is the problem but I don't know why or how to fix it. I tried saving photos from Mail on a couple of other Macs at my house and the feature seems to work fine.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Hi Joseph, the feature works fine for me too.
the only info I could find was this.
"Add to iPhoto" button in Mail and keyword search in spotlight don't work
If she does have the latest iPhoto, then all I can suggest is to use Disk Utility to repair permissions. If that doesn't work, then just have her drag the images in the email to the desktop, then import them into iPhoto from there.

  • When I save photo from mail to iPhoto - are there two copies?

I am trying to avoid filling my hard drive unnecessarily and so I am trying to find out, if I save photos to iphoto from mail, should I then delete the email ? so I dont have two copies of the photo wasting space on my hard drive? Sorry if this is too basic a question

If your concerned about space then yes, I woudl recommend doing that.

  • Long road from Mail to iPhoto

Please tell me I'm missing something here. I just tried to save a couple of photos, that I received in an email, and view them in iPhoto. The only option for saving them from Mail seems to be saving to the Pictures folder. Then, from there I had to import them, one at a time, into iPhoto. Surely this is not actually how it is done?

    Open the e-mail
where it says "save" you see a small grey down pointing triangle just to the right or "save"
Click and hold on it and a menu will open that allows you to save selected photos or all photos to iPhoto (among other choices)
(On a Mac anytime you see a small grey triangle check it out - usually it will open a menu for more options)

  • Nonfunctioning command to move photos from Mail to iPhoto

Does anyone know why Apple does not fix the lack of function of the drop down command to move photos from Apple Mail to iPhoto? Fix the problem or remove the nonfunctioning command. Dragging as a fix is not solution. Seven months is enough time to fix this.

Hold down on the image and select Save Image. The photo will be saved to the Camera Roll in the Photos App.

  • Exporting from Mail to Mail

    Hello,
I have an old PowerMac G4 Cube running OS 10.4 Tiger and a new iMac Running OS 10.5.1 Leopard.
I want to get all the email from the Cube (from Apple Mail) to the new iMac (also using Apple Mail). I don't want to use Target Disk Mode. Am I able to export all the old emails from Mail on the Cube and import them into Mail on the new iMac?
    Thanks!

If you don't want to use target mode (why not btw?) archive your inbox on the cube and import it to Mail on the iMac. You DO need some way to transfer the archived mailbox. Use a USB stick or an external drive if you dislike target mode.

First, stop using the card in the camera. Some companies provide photo recovery software with their cards. If not here are some photo recovery programs, I've never used them though. You might also try a Google search for "SD card photo recovery" as some businesses provide this.
