No file alsa-base.conf

I use the screen speakers. My screen is connected via DVI to my pc, but I have also an HDMI output from the graphic card that I don't use it.
Every time I switch on my pc, a notification pops up telling me that the system is not using HDA ATI HDMI anymore and it will start to use HDA Intel VT1828S Analog.
Looking in System Preferences>Hardware>Multimedia>Phonon, I can see that I have 8 different devices. Here you have a snapshot
>>moderator edit: Removed large image. Read Forum Etiquette: Pasting Pictures and Code. Thanks. --fsckd<<
How can I switch off/disable the devices I don't use them?
I have been reading in the wiki the ALSA article. My problem is that I don't have the alsa-base.conf file in /etc/modprobe.d. In fact, this folder is empty.
How can I generate it?
Thanks in advance.

  • Modprobe.d alsa-base vs alsa vs alsa_local vs sound

In attempting to try different options towards getting my Mac Pro's headphone output working, I have read many, many webpages referencing modprobe.d with .conf files using different names such as "alsa-base", "alsa", "alsa_local" and "sound".
My understanding of modprobe is that it will sweep up any *.conf files in /etc/modprobe.d and attempt to interpret them. The file name does not matter, as long as it ends with .conf.
Is this correct or is there something magic about the file names "alsa-base.conf", "alsa.conf", etcetera?

It's been deprecated for a few years. The Arch news feed is great with changes like this: https://www.archlinux.org/news/new-modu … -location/
The modprobe.d manpage and the kernel modules wiki are good sources for information on these issues as well.

  • Build a tool for controlling a copy file operation base on its file size in any folder of Window Explorer

    Hi all,
We are developing a tool which will control a copy file operation in any folder of Window Explorer base on file size limit.
If these copied files are not satisfied the file size condition (its size is larger than a predefined value), the copy/move operation must not be executed.
My question is that: "Are there any availability support of Windows API/tool for implementing this feature?"
    BR,
    Mr_Le

    Hi Mr_Le,
Thank you for posting in the MSDN forum.
Based on your description, I’m afraid that it is not the correct forum for this issue, since this forum is to discuss:
Visual Studio WPF/SL Designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System, and Visual Studio Editor.
To help you find the correct development forum for this issue, please tell me the real project type (Winforms or others) and the real development language (C#, VB or others) you want to use.
If you are not very sure that which kind of project fulfils this requirement, maybe the language development forum would be better for this issue:
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/home?category=vslanguages&filter=alltypes&sort=lastpostdesc
If there's any concern, please feel free to let me know.
    Best Regards,

  • Create book file on basis of txt file with local paths?

I would like to be able to create a book file in FrameMaker 7 or FrameMaker 9 on the basis of a  .txt file reading for instance:
    c:/documents/job.fm
    c:/documents/15ss.fm
    c:/documents/sdf/job1.fm
Preferrably I would like to be able to paste the lines into a prompt and have a script compiling the book file.
Is it possible to write a script using FrameMakers API which would do this trick? It is probably possible to use FrameScript but I am not too keen on FrameScript and would rather avoid it.
Who should one ask in order to have such a thing written?
    regards

I started using FrameMaker in release 2.x, while I was using x-roff on UNIX; x-roff used a "makefile" to create books from independent chapters, doing all the pagination, numbering, etc. I suspected that FrameMaker's book file worked like that, but it wasn't until many years later that I met someone who'd worked with FrameMaker version 1.x, who confirmed my suspicion.
Although I can't tell you how to do it, I'm certain that it can be programmed as you want, and that someone will post more information.

Tom,If you have the API installed on your client machine, the esberror.bas file will be in your Essbase\api\include directory. Before anyone could forward you a copy we would need to know which version of Essbase you are running.- Jay---------------------------Jay NishSenior Business Intelligence ConsultantClarity SystemsEmail: [email protected]: www.claritysystems.com---Message Posted by hacmon ??3/27/02 08:30---Does anyone have a copy of this file that they can forward to me (or possible show me where I can down load it)?[email protected] in advanced,Tom Nguyen

  • Missing opmn.xml file and opmn/conf folder

I downloaded Oracle Application Server 10g, Version 10.1.3.4.0
My app says “Warning: Could not find file /Desktop/OAS/opmn/conf/opmn.xml to copy.” My opmn/conf folder is missing and I am unable to install my application that uses OAS. The zip file I downloaded, oc4j_extended_101340.zip, doesn’t have that directory either. So how do I generate it?
The readme file doesn’t say anything about it. It just says
“There are no specific tasks that need to be performed to ready the new OC4J
instance for use. The new OC4J instance can be used immediately after the unzip
    operation has completed.”
So then the opmn/conf should come right out of the box, right?

First thing, if you are using standalone OC4J (the one installed by unzipping oc4j_extended_101340.zip), you will not have OPMN in there. That means $ORACLE_HOME/opmn directory (and any sub directory) will not exist. Standalone OC4J is not managed by OPMN.
But if you installed Oracle Application Server from the media using regular Oracle Installer, it is OPMN managed and all of opmn directories and files should exist. If any of the file or directory doesn't exist that would mean your installation wasn't clean. You will have look at installer logs for errors. In theory you can try by creating/copying files and opmn directories from some other clean installation but I will strongly suggest to re-install to avoid any other future potential issues.
I didn't understand the part when you say your application is complaining about missing opmn.xml. What is this application? Any custom (non-Oracle provided) application does/should not have any dependency on opmn. Can you clarify this?
    Thanks
    Shail

  • Warning: config file /etc/pacman.conf, line 19: directive 'SyncFirst'

what is the new syntax for 'SyncFirst' in pacman 4.1?

it's  the first i make when update package (merge changes in /etc/makepkg and /etc/pacman.conf)
    but need keep SyncFirst
    # If upgrades are available for these packages they will be asked for first
    SyncFirst  = linux-headers linux-lts-headers
need this to update kernel headers before update kernel, because i use mkinitcpio to update DKMS modules [1]
if upgrade kernel before install headers, the build dkms modules fail

  • Shedule file on basis of file_Name

    Hi,
I am ftp file from remote system to local using agent scheduler.
How can i copy file from remote system to local whose file name starts from particular string/character letsay "vodafone"

    Hi,
    Promt off :-
If you are not using " PROMT OFF " Then it will ask for your confirmation for downloading the file
(if multiple files are there it will ask confirmation for each file to download - and if you are using PROMT OFF , it will download the files without confirmation)
ftp -inv YourFTPServerIP << !EOF :-
-v Verbose option forces ftp to show all responses from the remote server, as well as report on data transfer statistics.
-n Restrains ftp from attempting ââauto-loginââ upon initial connection. If auto-login is enabled, ftp will check the .netrc (see below) file in the userâs home directory for an entry describing an account on the remote machine. If no entry exists, ftp will prompt for the remote machine login name (default is the user identity on the local machine), and, if necessary, prompt for a password and an account with which to login.
-i Turns off interactive prompting during multiple file transfers.
Note :- If the answers helped to solve your issue, Please mark points to the right answers :-)

It is possible that the screen is too wide or too high and that the scroll bars fall off.<br />
Open the system menu via Alt+Space and see if you can resize that window.<br />
If that works then close Firefox to save that setting.

32-bit can only address up to 4 GB of memory. The maximum RAM for a 32-bit kernel and all processes is limited to 3.25 GB, depending on BIOS. With a PAE kernel, 36-bit, and appropriate CPU support you can address up to 16 GB of RAM. However it will slow down memory access and each process is still limited to 3GB, and the kernel is limited to 1GB. If you have more than 4 GB of RAM installed, than a 64-bit kernel will be able to address RAM directly, which will be faster and also solve your memory constrains. You can run 32-bit software on a 64-bit system, provided you have installed the 32-bit libraries, without any performance penalty since the x86 instruction set is still in hardware, hence x86_64. There is no reason to use a 32-bit system unless the CPU does not support long mode like Intel or AMD CPU's before 2003.
