No File name or number after uploading to MobileMe

After upgrading to patch Nov 4 with iphoto 11. The number or file name will not show up after uploading to MobileMe for sharing to others.

Same thing here. Can't get iPhoto 11 to display filenames in MobileMe galleries. I've already filed 2 bug reports from 2 different Macs with the same issue. I recommend you do the same. Just go to the 'iPhoto' menu, then select 'Provide iPhoto Feedback.'

Bad file name or number

A customer is sometimes getting the message "Bad file name or number" when selecting 2009.MAR as Time dim in an input schedule (double clicking an EVCVW formula). Unfortunately the error is intermittent; he says he gets the message 2-3 times and then it works OK. He can change it to other years / months, and he can change the Entity. 2009.MAR looks just like any other in the dim list. Anyone seen this one before? (MS7.0 SP3)

You can verify if there is something wrong into the Time.xml file donwloaded locally on the client machine or just try to refresh dimension information on that machine using eTools->Client options menu.

Japanese File Name coming Junk after uplading

I am using struts with jsp for uploading some files . But the file names are comin junk character after uploading . I have read a topic on the same subject http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=670441&tstart=0) and added a hidden variable for the file name and did .

In my other jsps i have the deafult form encryption (i.e i dont specify any enctype) and i am able to take Japanee characters from the jsp and insert in database perfectly . But here as i have to do uploading i am specifying enctype="multipart/form-data" else its giving JSP execpetion.
Is there any way my Files will Japanese Characters will be displayed with correct name . For your information I am using Oracle J developer and WebLogic 6.1 SP3 for develpment and production . But its does not work anywhere.

My server in 2 cases are on different platforms. Windows platform I am using a locally installed websphere. but my production server is installed in solaris.
It is a web application so users will upload files from their local systems in our case windows. I am trying to upload the same file in 2 cases. i have changed my default locale setting to japanese in order to get the correct display of japanese characters.
The main question in my post is there any setting I need to put on the server, but I won't be able to change the locale settings of solaris server since it is a production server. Other than changing the default locale of the solaris system is there any workaround for this problem?
for japanese character support I have changed the JVM argument to support UTF-8 both in my WSAD(windows) & WAS(solaris). I am able to insert comments in japanese in both applications but only the file name is creating a problem. the file contents are uploading properly which is also in japanese. both servers have the same configuration settings. that's why I guessed it may be a platform dependency problem. or is it still a struts multipart problem?

Wrong picture number after upload from inbuilt card reader

My laptop is just three weeks old, but when I upload images from the inbuilt card reader, a number appear corrupt.
However if I open the images direct from the card they are fine... so it is the card reader itsself which is causing the problem.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

What notebook do you have and could you please explain exactly what happens?
As I understand your issue the picture number (pic name) changes if you upload the files to the card.
May I ask you what card do you use?
Does it happen with other files like jpeg, mov, doc, etc..

How to get the original file name in chinese with upload component?

It is inconvenience for user to upload file with name only in english. When upload a file with chinese file name, the file name gotten from "fileUpload1.getUploadedFile().getOriginalName()" is just like "缃戠粶鍥�.jpg". Do somebody have a good idea?

I spoke to the component engineers regarding this issue
First please check if the s page encoding is set correctly, as browsers tend to default to use the encoding that was used for the page when submitting the request.
(Because of how the JSF response writer is written, multibyte characters can be written correctly even if the encoding is not set correctly so the fact that form correctly rendered chinese characters is not proof that the encoding was set correctly).
If you established that the page encoding is correct, then there is a
bug in the FileUpload. The method that gets the name is a straight
shot through to an Apache FileUpload library method. Technically this
ought to be resolved by that method checking the request body
character set before parsing the parameters.

There is a limitation set by Microsoft on the URL path length of 256 characters, refer - https://technet.microsoft.com/en-in/library/ff919564(v=office.14).aspx
This restriction is with IE browser and you will not see this in other browsers.

I need to generate file name in sequence number. Now i have generated file in specific folder. In that folder file i am reading one by one and generating. Problem is folder file some names having special characte those names are not generating while reading 'Cat' Caommand in shell script. Instad of that i want to generate files in 1.ldt,2.ldt to etc..
Please guide me how to generate in specific folder.

First, LabVIEW 7 allows you to pass string and path data types directly into the Matlab script node. Otherwise, in LV <= 6.1 you can do the following:
In LabVIEW, convert the string to an array of U8s using the String to Byte Array function. Then pass the U8 array into the Matlab script node as a Real Vector type. Finally, in Matlab, convert the Real Vector to a string using the char() function. For example:
stringAsString = char(stringAsRealVector)

MOH not working on specific phone number after uploading new MOH file

We have Cisco Unified CM Administration version 8.0.3.20000-2.
Our college has a global MOH (music on hold) file (MOH_040208) that plays for everyone. I was trying to figure out how to upload a different music file (MOH_101311) to see if I could get that MOH file to play only on my phone number (extension). I uploaded a file via Cisco Unified CM Administration>Media Resources>MOH Audio File Management. The upload appeared to be successful (no errors). Then, I went to Media Resources>Music On Hold Server Audio Sources and assigned the next available stream number (#3) to this newly uploaded MOH file.
Next, I went to Device>selected my device name>selected Line #1 and changed the User Hold MOH Audio Source and Network Hold MOH Audio Source from <None> to the newly uplodaded file, MOH_101311. I saved and applied config. During testing, I found that when my line puts anyone on hold, all they hear is silence. However, the college's global music on hold plays for everyone else. On my line, I removed the selection from User Hold MOH Audio Source and Network Hold MOH Audio Source, which put it back to its default of <None>. I deleted the MOH_101311 file from the phone system by removing it from the following two locations: Cisco Unified CM Administration>Media Resources>MOH Audio File Management and Media Resources>Music On Hold Server Audio Sources. However, my line will still not play music when I put someone on hold; then caller only hears silence. I rebooted my phone by unplugging it and plugging it back in, but this did not resolve the issue.
Did I do something incorrectly when trying to get a new MOH file to play on a specific phone number/extension? If so, can someone tell me the correct steps?
Any suggestions on how to make my phone number/extension go back to the way it was and play the college's default MOH file?

Try resetting it: hold on/off and home buttons simultaneously 10-15 seconds until you see the Apple logo (ignoring the red off slider which appears first), release and wait for the phone to restart.

How do I remove the file ID from the file name of an an uploaded File?

Im uploading/downloading files in my application (apex 4.0), and it working great, however, the filename that appears has the file id I believe attached to it, ex: F1903848613/my_test_file.txt
Im figuring I need to use some kind of combination of finding the position of the '/', and then SUBSTR the filename, or REPLACE, to remove the characters up to and including the '/'.
Can anyone please advise.

finding the position of the '/'instr() could do, -1 to start counting from the end of the string, then substr() to start with the next character after the instr() value ...

What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand? Have you tried clearing your browser's cache (Command+Option+E for Safari) and reloading the site?
Where are you hosting your site? How are you uploading the site files to the server? What is missing from your website?

URL name appears twice after upload???

Hoping someone can help with a small issue using iWeb. Whenever I upload / updated my bands web site using the publish to FTP server within iWeb a weird thing occurs. The URL had the domain name twice as in "thelostwillfollow.com/thelostwillfollow.com/Home.html" instead of "www.thelostwillfollow.com/Home.html". I do have the most current version of iWeb and I'm pretty sure I'm filling out the fields correctly. I've actually tried filling in the fields on the upload screen several ways to see if it corrects the issue and it hasn't.
Now, this can be corrected by using a third party FTP to log in and make some changes to the folders, but I shouldn't have to do this.
Can anyone please assist me with troubleshooting this issue. I have attached two screen shots so you can see whtat I mean and how I have the FTP screen filled out.

That's because you named your site the same as your domain.name. The standard URL format is:
http://domain_name/site_name/page_name.html
If you don't want the site name to be the same as the domain name change the site name in iWeb.
To remove the site name from the URL address do the following;
publish your site to a folder on your hard drive.
using a 3rd party FTP client like the free Cyberduck select just the contents of your site folder.
upload those contents to the public_html or root folder of your account on the server.
This will give the following in the URL window for each page of you site:
http://www.domain_name.com/page_name.html

OSX renaming files names with number/letter suffixes

I have some Quark files that are constantly being updated. Sometimes when I close and save the file, it renames it something like filename_f#CB70C.qxd (original name: filenameversionmonth, etc.), replacing my name with this gibberish! I have tried shortening the filenames and it still does this, but it's intermittent. I am working off of a server in an office, where a few people share the same files. I will rename it again and when I look in the window, it has snapped back to the gibberish name.
Any ideas?

I doubt whether OS X is doing this. Since it apparently happens with only one applicatication it may be a requirement of the application. (I don't know that; just a guess). I suggest that you try Repairing Disk Permissions, and see if it is a permissions issue.

Can't visit site after upload to mobileMe

I just uploaded my first site to MobileMe from iWeb. When I click the visit button all I get is the page can't be found error

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try the File->Visit Published site menu option. The drop down visit button often does not work correctly.
If that doesn't work try this URL: http://web.me.com/YourMobileMeAccount/.
Next do a File->Publish Entire Site to MobileMe and see if that will jump start the site.
You can check the server directly in the Finder by mounting your iDisk and going to the iDisk/Web/Sites folder to see if your website folder is there along with an index.html file.

Keeping Domain Name Email Address After Hosting With MobileMe

Hi,
I am looking for any advice with regard to my website, which I now host with MobileMe. Prior to the transfer I had a Domain specific email address, which I now can no longer use. I receive the emails, but when it comes to answering, I can only answer as my .Mac account name.
Can anyone help, as my previous Domain holder wants about US$100/year to maintain this facility?

Whether you get e-mails from the type of [email protected] or not depends on your domain registrar.
What you're paying now is also the hosting which is needed to have real mailboxes.
Usually at domain registrars you get MailForwards which means that I send e-mails at [email protected] which forwards e-mails to another address like [email protected] and you can set [email protected] to be forwarded to another e-mail (if you want). So basically MailForwards aren't real e-mails themselves. You can also set *@yourdomain.com so all e-mails sent to no matter which e-mail @yourdomain.com gets sent to [email protected] (no matter what people put in front of the @yourdomain.com).
The problem is that if you set up CNAME for your domain usually E-Mail gets broken. But there’s a trick to avoid that (pointed out to by Earl and originally posted by Seanomich on the Apple Discussion Forums). Mainly that’s it:
1. www.yourdomain.com is different from yourdomain.com
2. Domain registrars handle them as completely different
3. The trick is to set up CNAME for www.yourdomain.com (as of Chapter 2 of this page)
4. For yourdomain.com set up a WebForward instead (as of Chapter 1 of this page) pointing it to www.yourdomain.com
5. Now yourdomain.com is free to be used for e-mails
If your domain registrar doesn't provide this feature (MailForwards without having to pay the hosting) you could manage your domain using ZoneEdit (which is free) and you will get MailForward e-mails.
You will then also be able to send e-mails from [email protected]. All you need to do is write [email protected] in the Preferences of the Mail application where it says E-mail (same on the iPhone). In addition to that if you use a gmail address as real address behind the [email protected] MailForward you will also be able to send e-mails from the web as [email protected] since it allows to apply aliases.
Bottom line: you can have e-mails like you want
If MailForward isn’t enough for you, you probably need a hosting package (other than MobileMe) along with your domain and that's where you have to pay the 100$ a year...
