No finder and trash icon

I tried to modify my dock using leopard docks and when I changed it, I lost my finder and trash icon, there is a blank space and when I roll my mouse over it, it shows the name, but not the icon.
And I can`t even get the right-click pop-up menu which I usually get by right-clicking or command+click on my mac.
Please help...

Yes I am running
Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)
And I even checked the roaring apps website, and the Leopard docks app is compatible with my OS.
I just noticed that there is no full screen icon on the top right.      (The icon wich you can toggle full screen with)

  • Finder and Trash Icons

I was able to manually change my Trash and Finder Icons in the earlier OS Xs. The new Leopard seems a little different. Anyone have any extra advice or help? Thanks

    Hello Anthony:
It would appear to me you have identified the cause of the problem. What is +"candy bar"+ anyhow?
Not knowing what you have done, there are several options to return to normal.
If you have Time Machine activated, just pick a backup before the problem occurred. If you have not beenn using Time Machine, an archive and install would restore OS X to its former state:

I can't find the Trash icon anywhere on my mac pro. I needed to clean some startup desk space and thought to start with emptying the trash but I can't find it anywhere. I thought it might be hidden so I made the Library visible through typing a code in Terminal, but still can't find it! Please Help!!

  • I've lost the finder and desktop icons

Purchased new iMac 10 days ago but did not immediately transfer data from old computer.  When I did, I transferred from a Backup on Time Machine using Migration Assistant .  I did not merge the two users I had the New Jon (new computer)  and the Old Jon (old computer transferred to the new one).  I transferred applications and documents but did not transfer the computer and network settings. My reason for two users was that I knew there were programs on the old iMac (10.9.5, early 2008) that did not work on 10 and I was hoping to cherry pick.
However, the new iMac (10.10.2) wasn't seeing any of the desktop files in either user from the old Mac.  I decided to delete Old Jon keeping New Jon and starting over again.  When I did that, none of the Old Jon applications were deleted and are usable for both users AND the Finder is missing.  Clicking on Finder it says that the Finder can't be opened.  The finder had been working on both users on the new computer up to the point at which I deleted Old Jon.
Interesting to note that at one time (I don't remember if I was upgrading from 9 to 10 or it was a 10 upgrade) but the Finder  on the old Mac also disappeared.  I was on forums and seemed to be a problem that many people had.  For me, the only thing that seemed to work was opening Activity Monitor and force quitting Window Server and after that the finder and desktop icon showed up.  So I'm thinking it must be a program or file I have on the old computer.  So, I thought I'd try downloading 10.10 figuring if I reinstalled I would get where back to an "out of the box" computer.
Even though it said I was downloading 10.10 the new install said it was still 10.10.2.  All of the applications from the old Mac were still there and there was still no finder.  I created a couple of new identities  in the New Jon computer.  Both of them have access to the finder but the Main identity does not.  I have noticed that if you log under under one of the new identities and then go to the Main identity the Finder is there - but not if you log into the Main Identity first.
Can anyone give me hint as what I might do to where I might look or steer me to another forum?   Hope this isn't too confusing.  Thank you so much

  • Can't find the Trash Icon in email

How do I get the trash icon to show on my email on the upper right side?  Right now it only shows the "Move to another folder icon,"  the arrow for reply, forward, print and the icon for writing a new email.  My friends Ipads show these 3 icons and also the trash icon.
I can't find any settings to display this icon on my email.
    Thanks...

If you are using the apple built-in mail app , there is no trash icon.
There most certainly is a trash can icon in the preinstalled mail app on the iPad. I mentioned gmail to the OP because I'm pretty sure that gmail uses an archiving system and no trash can icon appears in that account. Or at least I think that is how gmail on the iPad works.

  • Finder and trash is not opening.

When I click on the finder icon and the trash icon in the dock, nothing happens. Even when I right click and press New Finder Window, nothing happens. If I want to upload a file, a window doesn't pop up for me to be able to access my files. When I edit a Pages document, it somehow says it is saved, but doesn't tell me where. On my desktop I have some files and folders, the images and other files open but not folders. With the trash I am somehow able to right click it and empty the trash can. Can someone please help solve this problem. I have restarted my Macbook Pro 13inch running OS X Mavericks Version 10.9.3 several times and it still doesn't work. I even tried booting in safe mode but finder still doesn't work.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if Finder crashed, you would enter "Finder" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

  • Finder And Trash Will Not Open

The problem arose about an hour ago, I went to click on the Finder icon in the dock, but to my surprise, nothing popped up. I tried again and again, but still nothing. I researched how to solve this issue, and I came across two solutions which did not work for me. I tried deleting the Finder Plist but after right clicking and pressing empty trash, nothing happened. I attempted to open trash. Nothing. I tried to Log Out, shut down, restart, and sleep. Nothing was working. I Repaired my Disk but nothing changed except smaller icons on my desktop. I finally managed to delete the plist file in my trash. But yet again. Nothing. If anyone can help me, it would be very much appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

HI and welcome to Apple Discussions...
Go to ~/Library/Preferences and move the com.apple.Dock.plist file to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.
And go here for help to Resolve Trash Problems

  • Finder and desktop icons frozen after time machine backup

Finder desktop icons freeze every time after a Time Machine backup. *What's odd is that I can still use other apps, but I cannot select/open any item on the desktop*.
Adding to the strangeness, +is that what's left after the backup is finished is a blank space+ (beneath the HD icon). Typically, all the items on the desktop rearrange themselves to their original positions once the backup volume disappears (i.e. backup is complete).
I've run disk utility for permissions check, and all is well.
Would appreciate some guidance on how to fix.
This issue pre-dates the 10.5.7 update.

    HI,
    Try deleting these files.
    com.apple.finder.plist
    com.apple.desktop.plist
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart your Mac.

  • Recovery from Finder and Trash

I had made files on my desktop then made a copy of them and put it in the finder listing on the side. I was cleaning my desktop and put the original files in the trash and emptied the trash, i did not know that the copies of the files that i put in the finder bar would also disappear when i emptied the trash. I Do not have time machine on my Mac.
Question: Is there a way to re locate your old files from within your computer or are the files forever gone?

those files are gone. the links in the sidebar are just aliases to the originals, not actual files.
the only way to (possibly) recover those files is to use data recovery software like Filesalvage or Data Rescue II.
and I suggest you start backing up to prevent these kinds of problems in the future.
