No Flash support in Safari3

There appears to be no Flash support in Safari. I've reinstalled the latest available plugin, but no joy. Anyone have any ideas?

I trashed my safari and was going to download it again and re-install it now when I go to re-install it it's telling me that beta 3.0.3 can not be installed to the hard drive and version 2 says there is a newer version. I trashed everything that says Safari is there something missing that I am missing. I cannot instalyy Safari. Can someone help me.
Hi
Your problem is off-topic. Better you post to a new thread so as to not add confusion to this thread.
In short, the only safe way to uninstall Safari 3 Beta is by using the Uninstaller in the Beta Installation Package. To do otherwise, adversely affects webkit files leading to quite a bit of havoc in your system.
To remedy, I believe you are going to have to reinstall your Operating System. If you require assistance or guidance, make an appointment at a Genius Bar if you live near an Apple Store. Otherwise, post a new topic in the forum.
Thanks

Adobe Flash support is not included in BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.3.1 Browser
Blackberry 10 OS has been on the market for the past two years, and we continue to have the highest mobile HTML5 test score . We understand how important web browsing is to you, which is why we have always invested in giving you the best possible web browsing experience.
During this time Adobe has stopped Flash development support for mobile browsers. This is consistent with the shift of mobile web content generally moving towards HTML5. As a result we can no longer support Adobe Flash beginning with the upcoming software release of BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.3.1.
We understand this may affect your web browsing experience and are working hard with major partners to lessen the effect this might have.
If you are a web developer, BlackBerry 10 supports a wide variety of media codecs, formats, and network protocols . If you have any questions on implementing video or audio on BlackBerry 10 please head over to our development forum and we will be happy to assist you.

What a Shame. Flash could have been left in. Many older sites use it and will not be updated anytime soon if ever. Now we have to hack around to get it working ourselves.

  • Flash support and the iPhone

As a web designer and recent iPhone owner, I'm wondering about flash support for the iPhone. A device that is trying to be on the cutting edge would seem to need it.
As a flash designer I've got my fingers crossed. Great phone though... I'm posting this on it right now.
    Thanks

This is probably the most anticipated feature. I have no doubt that Apple and Adobe are working together to "secure" a version of flash to work with the iPhone.
I'm sure the update will be upon us soon enough

  • Flash support for Safari on the iPhone

Anyone know/heard anything about Flash support? I'm amazed how limiting browsing the web with iPhone is w/out it.

I think the main problem with flash is the input issue. Right now the iphone knows when to display a keyboard and when not to. Flash can use a non-standard method of accepting keyboard input other than a input box. (Flash can just capture keystrokes).
So if a flash application is requiring a keyboard, the iphone will have no way to know. Currently there is no method of manually bringing up the keyboard on the iphone(I'm sure it was a decision to keep the u.i. clean).
Also with flash, the have other mouse input methods (such as drag, onMouseUp, onMouseDown, etc...) which the iphone cannot support. Dragging events are captured by the iphone and produce the coll move around functionality we all love. I also read somewhere that the mouseUp and mouseDown events are both fired at the same time when a user touches the screen, which would break quite a few Flash created u.i.'s.
So the reason there is no flash support? Currently the is no way to make it elegantly work.

mentioned roadmap in short: Before that Flash could do anything. From now one Flash will do only two things - games and video on demand. That's all folks. In the world where technology is worth as much as number of platforms on which it is deployable I can say, Flash is walking its Green Mile.

  • Rub Lack of Flash Support in Apples saucy face!

    Hi,
As a Flash developer I would like to see you guys do a better job of trumpeting the Flash support in your PlayBook.  The ads that I've seen, so far only mention it in passing as a kind of BTW near the end of the feature list.  It needs to be more like an FYI!  Also, please don't make the mistake of assuming that everyone knows what Flash is, and which of their favorite sites rely on Flash!
If I were marketing the Playbook I would have two people comparing their Tablets, one with an iPad and one with a Playbook.  The conversation would go something like this:
"Check out this really cool website... ooo...bummer, it doesn't work on your iPad because it's Flash based.  How about this one...no?  Too, bad...This one?  How about this one?..."

This is a peer support forum - RIM employees do not officially monitor this place. I suggest that you send your ideas to BlackBerry Marketing directly..
If you have some great ideas for apps, why not tune into the one of the developers' formums e.g. this one "Tablet OS SDK for Adobe AIR.

Just to let you guys know. I already know a few people thinking about returning there iPhones because they are unable to view some web pages that have flash content. Do you have any idea when a possible update for flash could happen? I've read a few blogs on the web that your not planning on supporting Flash. Is this true?
    I hope not.
Anyways, it would be nice to have some solid information on this subject that I could use in defense. I might be able to save you a few sales and possible give you more.

It wouldn't render any Flash videos at all.  I uninstalled google-chrome and installed google-chrome-dev.  Everything works fine now.

  • Where is Flash support for iPhone?

Today, Google just announced their Nexus One with Flash support, everyone has realized that most of the media on internet are sent with Flash, but such a powerful iPhone still don't have flash support, again, I want to ask, when is flash for iPhone coming?
iPhone OS 4.0? If not, a lot people are going to get Nexus One, I think.

There's two things I think Adobe are referring to:
    1) Currently the iPhone OS lacks any ability to load third-party Mobile Safari plugins. So, even if Adobe have a Flash 10 player running in their labs, they can't load it into iPhone Safari because there's no plugin architecture. This would need changes to be made by Apple to the iPhone OS.
    2) The iPhone SDK currently prevents third-party runtime environments, (i.e. programs that can run pre-compiled code), which Flash Player is. (Although they seem to be relaxing this a bit with a few emulators that have appeared). Again, this would need changes to be made by Apple to the SDK restrictions.
    Still, I'm happy without Flash!

  • Any workaround for loss of Flash support in QT?

I have a multimedia DVD that came with a textbook which uses QT for all of its multimedia support. Upon finding that some of the .mov files would not play, I investigated and found that those files use Flash for the video track.
After a bit of Googling, I discovered that Apple has eliminated Flash support from Quicktime, basically rendering this wonderful DVD useless.
I've attempted to play these flash-based .mov files in VLC, mPlayer and Realplayer. None of them will render the video animations.
Does anyone know of an application that will play these files? Has there been any official word from Apple as to whether the loss of Flash support is temporary or permanent?
    Thanks in advance.

  • How do i enable flash support

I want to watch a webpage that uses flash. When i go to it. It tells me i need to install flash 9.0 or later. But i already have flash and the stock browser can handle it.
    The webpage is www.svtplay.se

Current versions of Fennec (Firefox for Maemo) have Flash disabled by default because it causes problems on many pages. We're working on fixing this for Fennec 2.0 so we can enable Flash on all pages.
The "YouTube Enabler" add-on for Fennec 1.1 enables Flash just on youtube.com, where it is known not to cause serious problems:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/mobile/addon/67650
To enable Flash on all sites in Fennec for Maemo (not recomended): Enter "about:config" in the address bar, search for "plugin," and change the "plugin.disable" to "false."
(Firefox for Android does not yet support Flash; we hope to work with Adobe to add Flash support on Android in a future release.)

  • Safari billed as full web browser...but with no flash support!!!!!

No flash support for web browsing makes Safari a pseudo browser. I have already run into many many sites that use flash that can't be displayed. But I am still happy...just want flash support.

    To : Trevor Smith
First of all, can you try to confirm it's just a affected user profile or it's the fault for mac operating system? Try creating a new user account, then open Safari, go to the website. See what happens from there. If the new user is able to access the website correctly, then it's most probably the previous user account is affected.
To try to resolve the affected account, you will need to locate the "com.apple.safari.plist & "org.mozilla.firefox.plist" files? It should be located somewhere in this folder ; user/Library/Preferences. Note : if the user account you are using is created as Trevor, then it's Trevor/Library/Preferences. Locate the files named "com.apple.Safari.plist" & "org.mozilla.firefox.plist". Delete and trash completely. Logout of the machine and re-login again. Open Safari, and try the affected website again. See if it resolves the issue now.
Another thing to check, is your internet configuration. Make sure you are not bypassing any proxy server, as you do not need to do any bypass of the proxy servers.
    Keep me update, alright?
    Cheers

  • Quick Time's Flash Support

I just bought Slick software to use in iMovie 6. When I go to use the new titles, a message says that it requires Quick Time's Flash support. It leads me to the Advanced settings menu in QT preferences but there is no enable flash support option. I'm using 7.3.1 QT. How do I get to use these effects?
