No fonts available

Since I installed Leopard there are no fonts in the programm "font collection". I installed Leopard two times and still it didn`t work properly. Now when I open a document (word) it always uses a wrong font type although I choosed the right one as standard. Also I can not install any new type of fonts, the programm does not react at all. In "user - library - fonts" I deleted the font that I don`t want to use. Still it opens every document in the font I deleted! Does any one have any helpful suggestions?

Back in the office after three weeks' leave, during which a colleague has been using my PC for some simple FM editing; this not to point the finger, but to say everything was fine as late as Thursday last ...
Now, with my log-on or with his, we get the "There are no fonts ..." message. Adobe PDF is set as the default printer, and full Acrobat 7.0 is alive and well: can't test Distiller with a .ps, because I don't have any, but Acrobat opens a .tif and and a .txt
From my text editor, on the other hand, File > Print with Adobe PDF or Adobe PostScript selected as printer is not working: when I select "Print to file", I don't get the file dialogue.
FM 8.0p277, XP: if anyone can give me some tips on what questions to pursue our "support" desk with, 'cos if something changed and it isn't the users who've changed it ...

  • "No System Fonts Available" when fonts are embedded

    I'm a writer using LaTeX to produce PDFs. I recently started to use an editor who uses acrobat for editing.
    I have sent him a PDF with all the fonts embedded [full fonts embedded, not just subsets], and the fonts show up that way on the "Fonts" tab of the properties box.
    However, when he goes to edit it in acrobat, the error "No System Fonts Available" shows up.
    Why is acrobat unable to edit a PDF that it fully admits has the fonts embedded?

    Embedded fonts means the metrics for displaying the fonts is within the PDF but not the fonts themselves. This is also why cutting can pasting text with embedded fonts sometime results in little squared indicating an unknown or unmapped character for a given character code. You also do not have the embedded fonts available on your system.

  • I do I make all fonts from Windows/Fonts available to CS5 ?

    It used to be that I very rarely used fonts within CS5 but recently I have.  I realized that all of the fonts supposedly included with CS5 are not available via my drop down menu.
    I then found these fonts in Windows/fonts so I copied all of those fonts into Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Fonts.  These unavailble fonts are now listed in that folder but are still not available via the dropdown menu in PS CS5.
    I've recently read that the fonts don't really even NEED to be in the Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Fonts folder and that PS should actually make all of the fonts in Windows/Fonts available via the dropdown menu.  Yes, I have restarted PS after copying the files and also tried rebooting my PC after copying the files.  The fonts are still not available via the drop down text menu within PS even though all of them are now in both locations.
    Can anyone help me with this problem?  Thanks!

    Sometimes the font names are shown with slightly different names in windows, depending on the program.
    For example, in photoshop cs5 if you scroll the font list almost to the bottom, do you see a font named Kozuka Gothic Pr6N
    I believe that is the same as the KozGoPr6N font(s) listed in the windows font folder.
    The different font styles (Bold, Heavy, Light etc.) are listed under the font styles drop-down just to the right of the font list in the tool options bar.
    I believe the font menu in photoshop cs5 sorts/shows the fonts by script.
    This script might make it easier to indentify the fonts as shown in photoshop with the names shown in the windows fonts folder.

  • Fonts available in Pages

    Having just downloaded Pages to my new Macbook Pro, I was surprised to find it had fewer fonts available than the demonstration MacBook I saw in the store.  (Specifically the Edwardian Script font is not on the list of fonts I can select in Pages.)  Must I download additional fonts?  If so, how do I do that?

    Personally, I choose to add non-OS X fonts into my local fonts directory. It is located at /Users/you/Library/Fonts. This location is among the font search paths used by the operating system, and fonts added here, will also become available to applications, including Pages.
    This has the advantage of not cluttering up the System font installation areas. It is not clear to me if major, or minor OS X updates will remove non-original System fonts as part of the installation process — as I have always used the local font directory.
    Many new users to Pages also do not realize that the operating system also installs additional iWork fonts in an undocumented location. Until one adds a new font collection (call it iWork) in Font Book, and navigate to this folder location and include the fonts — they will be unavailable. See the Font Book Help topic, “Create font collections or libraries." Right-click on your new iWork collection in Font Book, and at the bottom of the contextual menu, choose Add Fonts…, and navigate to the following location. Single-click the iWork folder to commence adding its fonts.
    /Library/Application Support/Apple/Fonts/iWork

  • Typekit fonts availability

    Hi, I just downloaded Adobe Muse final version and updated the website I've been working on in which I've been integrating Typekit fonts manually… Exciting move forward and ability to use my fonts easily!
    BUT THEN I couldn't find my fonts in the menu! Are all Typekit fonts supposed to be available in Muse?
    I have a Portfolio plan and the fonts I need to use are Proxima Nova Alt and Brandon Grotesque.
    Thanks for helping me with that, can't wait to see everything fit into place!
    EDIT: Here's Typekit answer to this. (HINT: bad news)
    Currently Muse only has the free and open-source Typekit fonts available in it. In the future there will be kit integration, so that you have access to all the fonts in your Typekit plan.
    Maybe someone from Adobe could tell me how long we have to wait for that…

    Dani - thank you again for your quick and clear responses to my not always clear questions - You have been correct in all your assumptions.
    Also I'd like to say you strike the perfect balance between representing Adobe and seeing it from the customers view - not just in your responses here but in your Jam sessions and demos.
    New Question 1: If I download and pay for Proxima from a paid font library (or any matching desktop version to its typekit brother), can I use this desktop version in Muse for the 'design' phase. Then implement the museinsider.com work-around at publish stage to give me a WYSIWYG experience?
    Am i right in assuming they'd need to be opentype or true type? Assume postscript won't work in Muse?
    New Question 2): Yeah excited by the Max announcement of accompanying desktop versions. It quite literally took the request and absolute glaring need out my mouth/keyboard. I realise it is not due for release til June and details may be vague but do you have any knowledge whether this would likely be just the free typekit fonts or include some edge/paid fonts? If Adobe include edge fonts/aka paid - or atleast discount - to CC members, this would be a truly truly significant benefit to being a CC subscriber, and surely convert traditional adobe subscribers to CC members!?
    Just response to previous:
    (don't feel obliged to repsond specifically to this! ;-)
    Have to say I was confused with the free and paid reference.
    Thanks for the Edge being aka paid tip too. As a Creative Cloud member paid seemed not to apply to me because I get the portfolio typekit pack as part of my CC membership at no extra cost. As Typekit is now owned by Adobe - I, I think quite understably, assumed they would simply be available to me in the same way the free fonts are. No need to explain here - I am not having a go at you at all I 'feel your pain' in replying to the same problem - and understand their are technical and legal reasons. With over 15 years in the industry I really do know (and feel the pain of) font legalities. However in light this original post was a year ago it does feel a bit irksome.
    I realise in the aquisition or merging of a company there is a pain barrier - but as a customer I don't want to feel that pain!
    Adobe please throw your weight money and effort at this. If you see the Adobe logo on a product you expect an intergrated experience. As it currently stands it is a serious draw back to its core market:  professional designers who have previously mocked up in Indesign,  Illustrator Photoshop and passed to a developer.
    Oh no. I've become one of those people that moan on forums! Sorry. It's becuase I really care about this and am speaking to someone who can hopefully make a difference or atleast voice this serious need.
    I am super excited by Adobe's developments, have been to a few seminars and am a champion of Adobe products I really see Muse as a very serious solution to some web projects for non coding designers, which is why I have taken the time - unusually for me - to blither on here!
    Thank you for the Adobe Edge Fonts Preview page  tip also.

  • Why are fonts available only to one user on computer?

    My husband and I use the same iMac - same software versions, same OS, etc. However, I seem to have fonts available to me in Pages which he does NOT have.
    How come? How do I fix this? He needs access to the same font options as I have.

    Patsy that is what user accounts are for, to keep some things separate. In this case you have installed the fonts for only one user.
    Put them in the Fonts folder of the System Library that is at the top of your hard drive to make them available to everyone.

  • I have a full Team subscription to Creative Cloud, but type kit does not allow me to use some fonts. Do I have to pay extra to have more fonts available to me?

    I have a full Team subscription to Creative Cloud, but type kit does not allow me to use some fonts. Do I have to pay extra to have more fonts available to me?

    Hi drewacg,
    I'm sorry that you ran into trouble with this.  Are you the administrative contact on your Creative Cloud team subscription?  The admin user doesn't receive the same set of services as a full seat, so you will have a Typekit Trial plan instead of the Portfolio plan.
    You have the option of upgrading to the Portfolio level, though. If you would like to do that:
    1) sign in at https://typekit.com/login with your Adobe ID and password
    2) visit typekit.com/plans, and select the "upgrade" option underneath Portfolio
    Your Typekit plan upgrade will be billed separately from your Creative Cloud payments. The Portfolio plan is $49.99/year.
    I hope that this helps!  If you have any questions, please feel free to send your Adobe ID information to [email protected] and we can look into it further for you. Best,

  • Font availability inconsistent in Creative Cloud

    Why is font availability different between my laptop and desktop in Creative Cloud Photoshop? Used Berlin Sans in a logo - when I pulled it up on my desktop was prompted to change the font, why? Can I fix?

    Hi lcx1075,
    Berlin Sans isn't a typeface that is provided with Creative Cloud. Creative Cloud does come with a package of typefaces, which are installed alongside your system's typefaces. However if you use a non-standard typeface like Berlin Sans, you will need to make sure that all of your computers have it installed.
    You will need to copy/download it/purchase a new license for your other computer depending on what the license is for the typeface.

  • Sync Early Access - Why so few fonts available?

    I received early Typekit Desktop Sync access, but it's not at all what I was hoping for:
    Typekit shows 934 fonts available, but only 205 are available for desktop use. That's less than 1/4, but the plan specifically states "Full Library Access".
    Does anyone know why this is? I've gotten nothing but wasted time from Adobe's Live Chat representatives, who transfer me from one department to the next until I'm disconnected without ever even reaching the right person.

    Hi David,
    Thanks for the response. Yes, it is the page https://typekit.com/fonts, or when I click Manage Fonts in the Creative Cloud desktop app, is what I'm trying to find out about.
    I received early desktop font sync access, but it seems, for me at least, that less than 1/4 of the fonts are available for desktop use. The Adobe tech that I finally got through to (Print Department, after 5 hours) told me that I should be able to access all the fonts if I uninstalled everything from Adobe, since my CS6 might cause a problem, or maybe there was an issue with one of the CC apps. I uninstalled and reinstalled, but still the same thing.
    Is it that only a small portion fot he fonts are desktop available? That's not indicated in anything I've seen or received, or in what their tech told me. If so, I guess it's working correctly. I'd just like to get a definitive answer.
    Thanks so much

  • How to:Create a blank document, and how to make a font available for editin

    Two questions:
    1: How do I create a new PDF document? All I see is to create from an existing document or scanner. If I'm creating something from scratch, do I really have to load an existing PDF, delete everything and then start my new document? That's the way it seems, which is nuts!
    2: I have tried to edit the text in a document. I did not not create it, but it is open to editing. The font used in the document is "Arial", a very common font that comes with windows. The font is installed and I use it all the time in other Adobe apps. However when I try to edit a ducument using that font, I get a message that "the font is unavailable for editing" and it substitutes some random font. So why is it not available, and how do I make it available?
    Thanks!
    I'm using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro v.11.0.10 with Adobe Creative Cloud 2014 and Windows 7, all shown as up to date.

    For the first item...
    Here is a sample from the Acrobat SDK - JavaScript section:
    trustedNewDoc = app.trustedFunction( function (nWidth, nHeight)
            app.beginPriv();
                switch( arguments.length ) {
                    case 2:
                        app.newDoc( nWidth, nHeight );
                        break;
                    case 1:
                        app.newDoc( nWidth );
                        break;
                    default:
                        app.newDoc();
            app.endPriv();
        app.addSubMenu({ cName: "New", cParent: "File", nPos: 0 })
        app.addMenuItem({ cName: "Letter", cParent: "New", cExec:
            "trustedNewDoc();"});
        app.addMenuItem({ cName: "A4", cParent: "New", cExec:
            "trustedNewDoc(420,595)"});
        app.addMenuItem({ cName: "Custom...", cParent: "New", cExec:
            "var nWidth = app.response({ cQuestion:'Enter Width in Points',\
                cTitle: 'Custom Page Size'});"
            +"if (nWidth == null) nWidth = 612;"
            +"var nHeight = app.response({ cQuestion:'Enter Height in Points',\
                cTitle: 'Custom Page Size'});"
            +"if (nHeight == null) nHeight = 792;"
            +"trustedNewDoc(nWidth, nHeight) "});
    Copy it into a text file and give it a name with a "*.js" file extension.
    Place the JS file in the JavaScripts folder:   C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\Acrobat\Javascripts\
    Relaunch Acrobat and you should have a new menu item named "New"

  • Pages problem - Only two fonts available in the Fonts window.

    Hey there,
    Would love some help on this one.
    I am working in pages and when I bring up the Fonts window there are only two choices available (either with some text/object selected or not) - Helvetica 12.0 pt and Helvetica 9.0 pt. That's it. Nothing else.
    Same thing no matter how many new documents I start with.. even opening templates presents no more options. The template fonts are in the template itself, can be selected and even prevew in the for window but are not in the list to be selected.
    I tried resetting the font cache via these instructions -
    http://pagesfaq.blogspot.com/2007/11/my-fonts-in-leopard-are-crazy-how-do-i.html
    But no change.
    Any help would dbe required as writing wedding invitations kinda needs to get done soon.
    Thanks,

    Peggy, you are a genius..
    So **** simple!
    What a tool I am.. the bizarre thing is that it didn't look like there were any more columns to display but sure enough, when I moved the window and stretched it out - there they were.
    Thanks again..

  • Not all Typekit Fonts available in Muse?

    Hello,
    it seems that not all the fonts that are available in Typekit can be used in muse... has anyone a suggestion?

    Hi grafiklieschen,
    Abhishek is correct: you can only use and preview the free and open-source Typekit fonts in Muse. The full Typekit library isn't included in the font menu.
    You can still use Typekit on your website, though; the fonts just won't show up in the Muse preview. The Muse Insider wrote a post on how to insert the Typekit embed code from the Muse interface:
    http://museinsider.com/how-to-add-typekit-fonts-to-your-muse-site.html
    Or you can add the embed code to the Page Properties dialog within Muse, which will include it in the <head> of the page when you export your website.
    We hope to have a more complete integration of Typekit with Muse in the future, but I can't say yet when that will be available.
    I hope that this helps!  Best,

  • Are italicized, block lettering, different fonts available for download ?

    I don't have any problems with Firefox, but I'd like to know:
    Is there a download available that will permit me to use block, italicized or different fonts when posting comments on blog sites that I frequent?

    I'm truly grateful for your prompt response.
    I hope you noticed my name: bigdummy (extreme computer novice). Unfortunately, I'm unable to use the info you provided, as I don't know how to apply it . I'm afraid I require a lengthy, how-to explanation. I know it's a lot to ask but, I would be even more grateful if you would be willing to help me. If that's too much to ask, I understand. Thank you.
    I just upgraded to Firefox 3.6.

  • How do I make PFM and Type 1 fonts available for my document?

    I am trying to work with a document in InDesign. There are some PFM and Type 1 fonts in the document that can't be found. I have them in a folder on my computer but don't know how to make them available. I downloaded Adobe Type Manager Light, but am running Windows 7 SP1 and the exe file doesn't work. I also watched a tutorial about fonts, but can't find the folder that the person was talking about in the video. Can someone help me?

    Hopefully you have not damaged Windows by trying to install ATM. Windows 7 has native T1 type support built in.
    To make them available in Windows, Presuming they are actually Windows format fonts, you would right-click the font and choose Install Font, or CS6 or CC you can put them in a folder named Document Fonts in the same directory as the .indd file, and they will be availble to that file alone.
    Note that Mac format fonts are completley useless on Windows. They're easy to spot, though -- they'll show a file size of 0 bytes in Explorer.

  • Titles don't open with the "show fonts" available, so I can't change the fonts or the color

    How may I always open the titles so that they always open with the "show fonts" rectangle available on the top left corner. I am unable to change many of my titles, because they didn't open with that message.

    It depends on what theme/title you choose. Not all of them are adjustable and you should exercise its possibilities as soon as you add them to your project. If you don't see the "Show Fonts" button on the upper left corner, you should choose another title if you so desire to change the default fonts or colors.

  • Making ttf fonts available

    G'day,
    In my quest for nice fonts I have installed ttf-ms-fonts, and that has fixed up my fonts in firefox and thunderbird nicely.
    My problem is that these fonts aren't available to apps such as nedit.
    I have tried adding the font paths to my XF86Config like so:
        FontPath   "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF"
        FontPath   "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/ttf-ms-fonts"
    But this doesn't seem to work. My XF86 log contains this:
    Could not init font path element /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF
    Could not init font path element /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/ttf-ms-fonts
    I've tried a couple of things like reinstalling the ttf package, trying to regenerate the font cache, etc but when it comes down to it I know nothing about fonts really so there is probably an easy solution.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks for your replies, guys.
    Well yes, the tailing slash for my fontpaths was something I missed!
    But even after fixing that up, running # fc-cache -fv, and even deleting the fonts.cache file then regenerating the cache, no luck.
    Looking at all the relevant config files inside the font directories such as fonts.cache and fonts.dir, I can't see anything suspicious. They look much the same as those in other directories.
    This might give somebody a hint though:
    [root@mctav mctavish]# xset fp+ /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF/
    xset:  bad font path element (#54), possible causes are:
        Directory does not exist or has wrong permissions
        Directory missing fonts.dir
        Incorrect font server address or syntax
    Ownership and permissions for TTF and ttf-ms-fonts directories don't look any different to others that work, and the fonts.dir directories are definitely there. I don't know enough about the font server to know if there is a problem there.
    I've googled for answers, but no luck.
    Ah, the sweet mysteries!
