No Front Left , Right or Centre speaker sound

SB:0240 Audigy 2 platinum?CAmbridge soundworks DTT2200 5. speakers
Have tried everything I know:-
Checked FAQ & made sure of CMSS etc. Uninstalled drivers & re-installed latest driver. Checked & re-checked speaker connections.
Board passes all diagnostic tests but on speaker test I only get sound from rear right & rear left speakers.
I only get sound from rear speakers at any time which means I lose out on the dialogue from some video.
Can anybody help please?

Hi,
did you go into Windows and set your default Speaker Sound Playback configuration.
go to Start > Control Panel > Sound and Audio devices > Audio tab > Advanced.

• Audigy 2 zs diagnostics: only front left & right sound on megaworks 550

When I test the speakers with creative thx console, creative diagnostics or spekaers settings, I can hear front left and right sound on my 5. system for EVERY channel that is tested. All the software is updated and speakers are connected in the right way.
If i try playing games, it's impossible to select eax sound.
Problems started when I've uninstalled drivers of my old SB PCI28 sound card after the installation of new audigy drivers. Before uninstalling pci28 drivers everything was working ok.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall all the software but nothing changed. HELP!!

You said you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software, did you uninstall the drivers aswell then? Try a cleansweep, more details are in the FAQ.
If it's not letting you select EAX then it sounds like the card isn't installed correctly, or isn't recognised correctly. Check in Device Manager and see if there is any mention of the card there, and if there are any error messages/error codes.

• Help me pls: No sound on Front Left of Inspire M4500 speaker

Hi everyone,
Pls help with me with this problem.
I just bought a 4.1 Inspire M4500 using for my PC. My sound card driver is Realtek AC97 Audio (version 5.0.0000.690, date 1/6/2006). Unfortunately, after installing, there is no sound on the Front Left speaker. It means that any rear speaker inputed in the FRONT LEFT socket has no sound.
If anyone who knows how to solve this problem pls help me!
Your kind help will always be greatly appricicated!
VienKyTu

AC97 is onboard audio, you didn't say what motherboard you have, but I would think there would be a newer driver update on your MoBos website. But you did say you have a sound card, if it is in fact a dedicated sound card, you need to disable your AC97 audio in your BIOS.

• T510 Left/Right ear has different sound.

I just bought a new T 510 and found the computer's right ear sound is lower than the left one. Is this a software or hardware problem? How to fix it?
Thanks!!

So you're using the internal speakers, or headphones?
Also, do you have the balance set properly? Go into the Volume Control and click on the 'Speakers' icon. From there, you should then go to 'Levels' in the properties and select 'Balance'. Make sure the values for Left and Right are equal.
An interesting thing to note about Lenovo's implementation of the Volume Up/Down keys are weird and push the balance off by 1 sometimes (so you'll sometimes have values of 18/19 and then at the next increment 19/19.)
If you're talking about the right speaker sounds different from the left one, that may just be a music-related phenomenon or something else entirely.

• VFL Speaker sound from both the front speakers while FR sound is not coming out at all.

I have a creative gigaworks s750 connected to a xtreme gamer sound card. The system was working absolutely fine but now it has started behaving very strangely; system is playing back Front Left Speaker sound from both the front speakers while Front Right sound is not coming out at all. If i click the front right speaker in audio console speaker setup wizard, no sound comes. However when i click the front left speaker, sound comes out of both speakers. I counter checked it with playing 5.1 dts movie and muting all the speakers except the front left one from ac3 filter, sound came out of both the front speakers. However when i muted all the channel except the front right, no sound was coming out of front right speaker.

Just want to add another relieved reader of this thread.  I had lost the sound to my speakers even though I had sound to headphones. I was convinced it was a damaged headphone jack because I had pushed the headphone plug in harder the last evening when my wife complained that she could still hear the speakers while I listened with the headphones.  The next morning--no speaker sound.
I spent a few hours searching the web to see how to disassemble a satellite A505 and get to the jack.  But I wasn't even sure I could get a proper replacement jack that fit, and I was concerned that small damage, say to the ribbon connectors could render the computer useless--a large price to pay for just missing audio.
Fortunately, I stumbled onto this thread and I recalled I had put the unit to sleep the night before--something I don't usually do, but I didn't want all the Chrome web sites to have to reload so I just put it to sleep.
When I put it to sleep again and fired it up--Sound!  I am so glad to find this solution so I just want to let people know it remains a viable option.

• Ddts-100 + audigy2 zs + 550thx mega works. only left/right output

just purchased and installed the above system. however, when doing the software test under speaker settings, i only get front left and front right. all the others dont work. i have miniplug out from audigy (digital output) to (coaxial input) decoder, then decoder out (front left/right, rear left/right, sub/front) to megaworks input (front left/right, rear left/right, sub/front). i do the test on the ddts-100 decoder, and i get all 5.1 channels. now, just to clarify, i used the supplied mini plug to rca, that rca to the rca input (coaxial) the plug is the mono plug that came with the decoder. do i need to go out and buy the 4 pole mini plug? why dont they just supply it instead of the mono plug.. which isnt even shown to be used in my manuals.
anyway, clarification would be good on the mono/4 pole miniplug. otherwise nice sound so far.cant turn it up cuz its midnight and highly doubt the neighbours would appreciate it.
cheers
Steve

Hmmm... My guess is that this is due to your setup with digital out. Since the digital out on your soundcard will not pass through anything other than stereo PCM or encoded SPDIF data you will not get anything else but FL and FR channels when calibrating. Read more about this is the soundblaster forum section here.
My suggestion, as I'm sure everyone else will, is to connect your soundcard using the analogue outputs into the switchbox of the DDTS-100.
Edit: to be more precise this is how you can connect everything: from your soundcard, connect the analogue outputs into the switchbox of the DDTS-100. Connect the switchbox to the main DDTS-00. Connect the DDTS-00 main to the speakers. Now, connect the digital out from your soundcard into the coaxial input on the DDTS-100. When doing a calibration, switch to PC mode on the switchbox and calibrate. If you then want to use the digital out, enable digital out only in the speaker or THX settings. I use this setup at home actually but use the T7700 speakers instead.

• "Front Left", "Front Right" from the same speak

I am having an issue I am hoping to get answered. I have Boston Acoustic speakers which I am currently using on a new computer with a SoundBlaster XiFi. I can only hear sound from the left channel (The speaker that plugs INTO the right speaker that plugs into the Subwoofer). When I go to run an diagnostics test, it says :
Speaker : Front Left... Front Right
Speaker 2: (Nothing)
Speaker 3: Rear Left
Speaker 4: Rear right.
I know that this is not a problem with the hardware as I can plug these speakers into the computer right next to me & they work fine. I see that this problem crops up very often on these forums, I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks

No jack problem at all. I have also suffered myself some problems with "speaker switching" with the X-Fi. Only a full reinstall of all creative drivers has solved it, at least for me. I have posted it some times here, but I always get silence as a response. A common problem is that front right speaker dissapears when it was working perfectly.
It's a bug, no matter what Creative says (unfortunately they say nothing), there are a lot of posts regarding this

• Sound only plays in Front left speak on Windows 7 with Xfi Extreme Music??

I have Xfi Extreme Music (SB0640). In installed the lastes drivers for windows 7 (<a rel="nofollow" href="http://forums.creative.com/t5/forums/postpage/board-id/#]Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi series driver 2.8.003 ), When I run a speaker test all 6 speakers work, however when I use media player, media center etc. Only the front left speaker works.
Do I need to install creative Alchemy?
Console Launchers does not load on boot
Any asistance will be appreciated
Thanks in advance

NRe: Sound only plays in Front left speak on Windows 7 with Xfi Extreme Music? You will need to have the Creative Console Launcher which will let you have CMSS-3d or Creative Multichannel Surround Sound. You can find the newest version for your card here......
<a rel="nofollow" href="http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=094"]http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=094
Honestly though, dont bother with just that. Get Daniel K.'s X-FI support pack which is updated with the newest drivers and applications for your card. Plus, he tweaked those with fixes for installation/integration? under operating systems other than XP.
That can be found here.......
<a rel="nofollow" href="http://rapidshare.com/files/234436040/XFI_SupportPack_2_0.exe"]http://rapidshare.com/files/234436040/XFI_SupportPack_2_0.exe
And the link is still good.

• [Software] Switch Left/Right speake

Hi, I want to switch my front left and front right speaker output with software, because I am unable to switch them physically. Is there any way to do this?
If its needed I am able to switch my rear speakers physically so something that switches both front and rear would be good aswell.
I am using the Sound Blaster X-FI Xtreme Audio card with a set of X-530 Logitech 5. speakers.
Thanks in advance.Message Edited by karozkap on 2-02-200708:3 PM

Should I post this somewhere else? Or is it really utopia? Thks

• 5.1 system, only sound from front left & ri

I'm running a x-fi platinum on vista home premiumif you need/want more specs than that, just let me know. my problem is thus, I've set the system up for 5. surround sound, I've tested the speakers and I'm only able to recieve sound to the front left and right speakers. No sound is being sent to the center, rear left or right. I'm unsure of what to do, I've read that there are other users who arent having any problems with their 5. systems and I'm hoping someone here can give me some advice on what to do. Thanks

lol wow I Just fixed it by accident. heres a screenshot of how.basically, whatever speakers were not getting sound, you uncheck them. its crazy but it works?*edited twice trying to get the pics to show up in the post *http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...nxx984/prt.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...xx984/prt2.jpg?Message Edited by FleshWound on 02--2007:34 AM

• Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS, only front left and front ri

I've had the sound card for about 8 months now. About a week ago, instead the usual 7. coming out of my speakers, only the front left and front right speakers work. It's not the speakers, because I plugged the speakers into the onboard audio and they all work, but when I have them plugged into the sound card, only the front two. I have the audio set to 7. in the control panel and have CMSS 3D turned on. It has nothing to do with settings, because when I run the test in the THX console, the front two speakers are the only ones that work. Could someone please help me out, Thanks

You could try this. Remove the sound card from the computer and boot up the computer without the sound card in the computer. Let Windows finish loading and then have it shutdown. Slot back the sound card to the PCI slot and boot the computer.

• Webpages squeezed to centre by wide white left-right margins so cannot read properly.

I installed 3.6.8 on 23 July. It worked fine. On 5 August I installed Readability 1.0 add-on (http://readability.en.softonic.com). It worked fine. Perhaps the add-on caused the problem which started then, but it may just be coincidence. Disabling the add-on or uninstalling completely had no effect. Pages show correctly in IE8.

Does it work? PA probably needs to be restarted. You could try to find out the mapping by running speaker-test with pulseaudio killed:
speaker-test -c 8 -t wav -D plug:surround71
# or for 5.1
speaker-test -c 6 -t wav -D plug:surround51
Mapping should be in the output. Or look up the relevant surround pcm in /usr/share/alsa/{cards,pcm}.
Side note: Selecting the configuration/copying it into clipboard and then running the following should filter things out for you (needs xclip package):
xclip -o | egrep -v '#|;|^$' | xclip
adding
load-module module-alsa-sink device=hw:0,7 channels=6 channel_map=front-left,front-right,rear-left,rear-right,front-center,lfe
did not work.  speaker-test gives me this now:
[ryanvade@ryanvade-plex ~]$ speaker-test -c 6 -t wav -D plug:surround51
speaker-test 1.0.28
Playback device is plug:surround51
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 6 channels
WAV file(s)
Playback open error: -2,No such file or directory
[ryanvade@ryanvade-plex ~]$ speaker-test -c 6 -D plug:surround51
speaker-test 1.0.28
Playback device is plug:surround51
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 6 channels
Using 16 octaves of pink noise
Playback open error: -2,No such file or director
I killed and started pulse with no success.

• In Final Cut Pro X 10.1.1 I'm trying to separate left and right stereo tracks to delete left and pan right to centre. I cannot find a way to do this.

I record in stereo with a 10KHz tone down the left channel to defeat AGC on my camera and mic feed into the right channel. When I edit, I want to mute/delete the left channel and pan the right into the centre, to leave me with mono audio across both left and right. I could do this easily in FCP 6 but can find no way to do it in FCP X. I'm using the same source files. When I choose Dual Mono mode in the Audio Inspector, it mixes left and right and pushes the combined signal into both channels, giving me a mix of 10KHZ tone and audio in both left and right. Stereo mode shows me the two channels correctly with one driven hard (the tone) and the other at good voice levels. I just want to kill the left channel and pan the right to centre.
I'm converting original TOD files using MPEG Streamclip before import and definitely keeping audio as stereo.
This is driving me nuts! It should be simple and is in FCP 6. Any help greatly appreciated.
Stereo Setting
Mono Setting

Mb - If you're using FCPX 10.1.1 and Mavericks, make certain you've downloaded the most current Sony XDCAM FCPX plugin from sonycreativesortware.com unless you're using an older version of FCPX and then you'd need the previous XDCAM plugin.
You shouldn't see 8 mono tracks.  There are import settings in /fCPX that you can check and I don't ask FCPX to analyze my media or seperate mono or combine stereo, etc.  I like to have everything come in as it is, especially because I know what I've done with every channel, etc.
What I wrote to Ian is what I'd tell you - so please take a look at how you can make a "stereo" track that is actually two mono tracks, mono.  Once you do that you can address each mono channel by itself since it needs different volume, compression, and EQ than other channels.
There are ethernet, USB, and firewire controllers that work in FCPX, but that's not the typical workflow because generally if you're getting into any amount of post audio sweetening beyond basic "staples" audio treatment, you would instead use "Roles" to export your audio to Logic or Pro Tools and do you work in those applications and then cut the final product back into your FCPX project.  In Logic or Pro Tools is where you might use a controller.
In terms of automating levels, I'm not positive I know what you mean.  Compressor is a nice internal Logic plugin that kind of automates levels in a way but its about compressing peaks at a threshold that you set and at a ratio of compression.  So I may not understand what other automation is available unless you've exported you tracks to Logic or Pro Tools.
