> I have my HAF 922 front panel hooked up to my xtremegamer with the intel HD audio 2x5pin connector. It doesn't recognize any headphones or mic i plug in and doesn't play audio through anything. I've double checked the connection on the card and have disabled onboard sound in the bios. Is there some setting im missing?

Front panel audio wont mute rear audio when headphones are in.
Hello,
As the title says my sound isn't muted on the rear speakers when I plug in my headphones. The front panel audio didn't work at first, it said in the manual to disable front panel jack detection. Once I did this the audio came through the front panel, but is not muted at the rear, so I have sound from both the headphones that are plugged into the front and the speakers that are in the rear. The option to mute the rear output when headphones are plugged in is enabled, the speakers are plugged into the green jack, the rear speakers are set to stereo line out and the front is set to headphones.
Can anyone help, at the moment I have to keep unplugging the speakers to listen through the headphones without disturbing anyone else, which with the placement of my computer is not convenient.Hello,
I have used the link, but the drivers just install the same one I already had (both the rar and the exe do this), even if I remove the previous drivers via programs and features. Unfortunately the problem still persists, I am really stumped as to what is causing it. I am not sure if I have AC'97 or HD Audio connectors on the front of the case, as the case came with absolutely no documentation. I have provided a link to the manufacturers website if that could help in anyway.

Does Front Panel Audio Work When Using RCA Outputs from the X-Fi Titanium HD PCIe Sound Card?
I see that the rear panel headphone output is disabled when the soundcard RCA jacks are used.
But is it possible to have the front panel audio output work at the same time that the RCA jacks are in use or is it also disabled?
I am willing to tolerate inferior quality audio feeding my monitor and use the RCA jacks for my headphone amp.I was able to construct a work around for this problem. A Y splitter from the RCA outputs is an option but can degrade the sound because of the uneven load presented to the soundcard.
Ten eleven inch Apevia CVTAUDIOE25 HD Audio extension cables were connected together in series to a SilverStone FP32 3.5 audio front panel bay. The extension cables were connected to the front panel audio connectors on the Titanium HD sound card and then the cables were run out of the computer case and up to the area near my keyboard. I connected the front panel audio bay to the extension cable and the bay sits next to the keyboard. When no 3.5 mm stereo cable is connected to the front bay near the keyboard the sound is normal out of the rear outputs. But when a 3.5 mm audio cable is plugged into the front panel bay audio there is sound out of the SilverStone front panel bay. The sound is still muted out of the rear RCA jacks when the plug is put in the front bay but it is only used when the main audio outputs are not required.
The function for me is that the front bay serves the same purpose that the previous front panel 3.5 mm audio extension cable did.

Titanium Fatal1ty Pro and front panel audio
So I hooked up my case's front panel audio cable to the Titanium card and used the front panel connectors.
The sound quality is noticeably worse than using the back plugs. When I use the front panel mic, I also hear artifacts in the sound. When I play a game, I hear slight buzzes in accordance to what is coming out of the speakers.
I'm wondering if this is just the quality of my cases's cables or if it also happens with the official creative front panel accesory.
Anybody want to comment on quality?/Re: Titanium Fatalty Pro and front panel audioQI had an older Audigy 2 dri've connected to my X-Fi Xtreme Music and that never had any interference. The X-Fi dri've bay can't be bought separately anymore.
When I switched to a newer X-Fi without a front panel, I used the case connectors and the sound quality was awful.
I think it's the way the connectors are wired and the build quality. Despite the really awful drivers Creative ship for their cards, the hardware's actually pretty good.
There're some guides on how to rewire front panel connectors to reduce noise:

Hi all -
I have a K9N Neo (MS-7260 v2.0) that I am trying to wire in the front panel audio from my case. I'm having some major problems trying to figure out how to match up my case wires with those on the MSI board. I'm hoping that one of you experts will have the answer.
My case has the following signals for a microphone and headphone connection:
MIC GND
MIC PWR
MIC IN
HPOUT R
HPOUT -R
HPOUT L
HPOUT -L
HPOUT GND
In other words, the mic has power, ground, signal; and the headphone has two wires for each channel (+/-) and a common ground.
Now, here is the listed pinout from the manual for JAUD1. I could only find the manual for a PCB v1.0, so if that is the issue then please help me find the right manual:
PIN SIGNAL DESCRIPTION
1 PORT 1L : Analog Port 1 - Left channel
2 GND : Ground
3 PORT 1R : Analog Port 1 - Right channel
4 PRESENCE# : Active low signal - signals BIOS that a High Definition Audio dongle is connected to the analog header. PRESENCE# = 0 when a High Definition Audio dongle is connected.
5 PORT 2R : Analog Port 2 - Right channel
6 SENSE1_RETIRN : Jack detection return from front panel JACK1
7 SENSE_SEND : Jack detection sense line from the High Definition Audio CODEC jack detection resistor network
8 KEY : Connector Key
9 PORT 2L : Analog Port 2 - Left channel
10 SENSE2_RETIRN : Jack detection return from front panel JACK2
It doesn't seem like there are enough signals to hook up a +/- for both L/R on the headphones. And where do I put the mic??
Thanks in advance for ANY insights!
DaveHello!
I dare not answer your question yet, but I know that many with this kind of question have been helped by contacting the case manufacturer's support some way.
Sure it is not life or death for your problem, but Moderators here are under death penalty not to help people who don't describe their complete system. Motherboard we know. Processor, memory, hard disks, PSU and it's max. amperes and a few other things remain unknown. -
870A-g54 front panel audio missing from bios
Boy is this motherboard full of glitches. Teaches me a lesson about buying the cheapest for crossfire.
I would really love to use my front panel audio. Only problem is my front panel audio isn't in the BIOS!
When i bought my 870A-G54 I had to do a BIOS flash to support my six core CPU. Could the BIOS flash have changed my BIOS menu and taken away the front panel audio setting?
Lol does the motherboard even have an option to turn front panel audio on and off?
I had the bios flashed in the store the moment i baught it so i dont know how the bios looked before the flash. The Guy failed to flash my board because he had the wrong bios update and it was too big. So i had to download the right one from msi myself. People like that shouldn't work in computer stores.
My front panel audio has one of those single plug and go audio cables so im shure i couldn't install it wrong, even had the manual next to me.
Am i to be stuck without front panel audio??Quote from: Stu on 20-October-11, 03:51:31
BIOS does not have any options for front panel audio, it is controlled by the Realtek Audio Manager control panel.
What's the exact problem you're having?
Well i plug in my headphones to front audio and the software should recognize it and light up the ports on screen. But they stay greyed out and i have no mic or audio.
On my old asus motherboard i had to make shure front panel audio is turned on sorry for the confusion.
any idea why it doesn't pick up my headphones?
Ive tried diffrent headphones lol they dont work either -
MSI P965 Platinum - Front Panel Audio u/s
Finally after managing to get XP Pro SP1 CD to install, I have a stable system, and thanks to those whom freely gave advice.
But we hit the next issue with this motherboard, the front panel audio.
Firstly the Realtek detection software doesn't detect anything plugged into the front panel.
Connected the cables as follows from my Coolermaster Stacker case;
mobo = case wires/colour
pin1 aud-mic = mic-in - yellow
pin2 aug-gnd = gnd - black
pin3 aud-mc-bas = mic-pwr - red
pin4 aud-vcc = empty
pin5 aud-fpout-R = R out - green
pin6 aud-ret-R = R ret - green
pin7 hp-on = empty
pin8 key
pin9 aud-fpout-L = L out - white
pin0 aud-ret-L = L ret - white
The above pin out gives nothing at all, but audio from rear ports on the computer motherboard is fine.
I also tried the following,
where the microphone wires were left disconnected, therefore just the speakers plugged into the front panel audio header
mobo = case wires/colour
pin1 aud-mic =
pin2 aug-gnd = gnd - black
pin3 aud-mc-bas =
pin4 aud-vcc = empty
pin5 aud-fpout-R = R out - green
pin6 aud-ret-R = R ret - green
pin7 hp-on = empty
pin8 key
pin9 aud-fpout-L = L out - white
pin0 aud-ret-L = L ret - white
The above still gave me no audio out from the front panel.
Intrestingly if I leave the front panel audio header blank, I still get rear audio fine, where I would have expected to have put jumpers across the L and R outputs as is the norm.
I have removed the front panel from the computer to ensure that the wires terminate OK, and have not been pulled out/off.
Have I plugged in the wires correctly?
Is there some hidden setting that I have missed, I admit that I do not like the Realtek audio software?
I cannot find any way to boost the microphone input since Realtek audio software has been installed.
One day case/mobo manufactures will use a standard for the front panel headers and front panel audio headers, and we will have a simple single plug to insert, rather than a group of single fiddly connectors that have to be attached to a header that was at the last minute attached to the motherboard as far away from the front of the case, and in the darkest most fiddle corner.
Oh well......
CheersAaronYuri - you're are so right there my friend. I just pity Joe User whom might attempt such a move themselves.
In the end my entire issue was software related, and that has to be blamed on Realteks software, far too many options approached from far too many different angles. Audio is really simple, plug your cables in, and it should just work, certainly in the simple case of 2-1 speakers and a microphone. Why exactly it took a couple of hours to figure out how to get the front panel microphone to be seen in the first place, let alone any signal, is beyond me.
So my cables were all connected correctly as per the MSI manual, confirmed by my Abit manual and other post here and on other forums.
In the Realtek MSI audio software, on the I/O Audio tab, connector settings, I had to select 'disable front panel jack detection' and 'mute rear panel output when front headphones plugged in'. The other option here 'enable auto pop up...' is unchecked.
After this the Realtek software mentioned something about a new profile had been set up?
I then went to Windows Control Panel, Sounds and Audio devices, and selected the voice tab, on this page I selected 'mic IN at front panel [pink]' from the drop down list for Voice Recording'. Proceeded to 'test hardware' and the microphone is now working. This option to select the input in the drop down list was not available before.
All a bit of POKE and HOPE.
But we seem to be there. -
I have an SB Audigy 2 ZS and an Antec Aria case. I would like to use the front panel audio that uses the Intel Standard plug but acording to Creative tech support they don't support it.
The tech basically said that they don't know anything and I have to ask the forum if I want any useful information about the card. I didn't realize Creative tech support was so bad (broke several rules of the trade). But I am here to ask you guys now.
Is there a way to hook up the front panel audio ports to the sound card? My dell uses that white plug to do this. Does anyone know of an adapter that uses the intel plug on one side and the white plug so we can use the fron panel audio and mic jacks?
Thanks.No-one replied to my similar question here, so I did some googling and posted other places online. Here are some links that should help you in your problem. I have an Antec case myself, and while I have not tried this yet, I think it should work, assuming your audio connector is similar to mine. My Antec P60 case has an Intel-spec AC97 front panel connector, but it also branches into individual leads for non-standard setu
ps.
If you have the correct connector on your Audigy2, this should work. Here are the links I have:

Someone at Creative Labs should make a sticky out of this procedure and put it in a note at the top of the thread; I bet this gets asked a lot. -
K8N Neo Platinum + Sonata Front Panel Audio Problem
Hello,
The front panel audio speaker output is reversed when using headphones on my K8N Neo Platinum and Antec Sonata case. If I swap the left and right front panel audio output signal connectors, the headphone speakers are fine, but then my normal front speakers are reversed. All other connectors seem to be plugged in correctly. I've tried using nvswap, but doesn't seem to work on nForce3. Currently using Realtek driver version 5.10.0.5620 (had the same problem with the drivers included on mb cd) on WinXP Pro SP1 and 5.1 speaker setup (would like to use FPA for mic/headphones while gaming).
Let me know if you need any additional info.
Thanks.I am having the same problem as well. Was able to correct front output jack by switching the connections. But rear audio is still backwards. I havent tried any sort of 5.1 or 7.1 channel audio setups

P35 Platinum front panel audio with Antec P180 case?
God I have a headache after reading all those "front panel audio" threads. Why can't mb's all use the same freaking pinouts!!!!
The case doesn't have a HD front panel.
MB pinouts are:
1. Mic_L (MIC Left Channel)
2. GND
3. MIC_R (MIC Right Channel)
4. PRESENCE#
5. LINEout_R (analog port right channel)
6. MIC_JD (MIC jack detect)
7. Front_JD
8. NC (empty)
9. LINEout_L (analog port left channel)
10. LINEout_JD
Case Front Panel connector is a preconfigured block with pigtails hanging off in case it doesn't match up.
1. MIC Signal
2. MIC Power (MIC BIAS)
3. Ground
4. FPOUT-R (front right)
5. FPOUT-L (front left)
6. RET-R (rear right)
7. RET-R (rear left)
glaring differences are the ground and the MIC connectors.
How do I connect these? I don't want to fry anything.
Thanks. They do have the same pinouts. There are two standards is the reason for two different pinouts. It's just that your MB is Intel HD and your case is AC-97.

MSI K9N PLATINUM FRONT PANEL AUDIO
Hi everybody
I recently mounted an MSI K9N Platinum mainboard. When connecting front panel audio from case connectors on JAUD1, case connectors are marked as follows:
MIC POWER
MIC IN
GROUND
R-RET
L-RET
R-OUT
L-OUT
which does not match with those written on mainboard user manual for JAUD1 which are FRO PIN 1 TO 9 as follows:
PORT1L
GROUND
PORT 1R
PRESENCE
PORT 2R
SENSE1_RETURN
SENSE_SEND

.I´ve tried to connect it on many combinations but yet it is not working.
Could someone tell me the right way to do it?
Thanks in advance.I think you better ask this question to the manufacturer of the frontpanel stuff, as I have no clue.

You may tell us more information about your mainboard, please give us the detailed name of your mainboard. :D Then there will be more users could give some suggestions.
Sorry, there aren't that many K9N boards out there, but mine is the K9N Platinum MS7250 Version 1.0. It's the AM2 non-SLI nVidia nForce 570 Chipset model.
Thanks for any help. -
975x platinum front panel audio
hi all. ive read every thing on this forum i could find, but can not get the front audio panel connectors to work. my case(sunbeamtech silent storm) has the single molded connector that only fits one way on mobo. in the msi audio control panel, nothing happens when i plug in mic or headphones, or if i disable detection of the jacks. im at the end of my rope. please help!
I had the same problems. I assume that the "AC97" jack is plugged in to the JAUD1 connector of your mainboard. You have to plug in the other jack (HD Audio) to the JAUD1 connector, after this the front panel audio should work.

Yet another front panel audio thread
I am having problems with my front panel audio, rear audio works fine. I have read as many posts as I could find on the subject and still can't get my headphones to work. PC specs in signature. BIOS version is 7.3.
The case provides the following wires.
EAR L
EAR R
RETURN L
RETURN R
MIC IN
MIC VCC
GROUND
I have read the Intel Front Panel I/O Connectivity Design document from http://www.formfactors.org/developer%5Cspecs%5CA2928604.pdf and it doesn't seem like my case connectors follow the HD audio scheme. I connected according to the AC'97 scheme (except that I only have a single ground plug so I placed it in pin 4 of JAUD1). The headphones do not work. I disabled the Azalia/AC'97 BIOS setting to enable AC'97 audio support and neither the headphones nor the rear speakers work. I have checked the Realtek audio console's Audio I/O tab and unchecked the "Disable front panel jack detection" checkbox. The audio console does not show any headphones plugged in with the Azalia/AC'97 BIOD setting enabled or disabled. I think that I have my case wires plugged into JAUD1 incorrectly. Any suggestions? Thanks.just for fun....
hook the front panel stuff back up inside your computer...
Open the Realtek Audio Manager..
Click the Audio I/O tab..
just to the right of where it says Analog, there is a little blue dot...
Click it and click to disable front jack detection..
Then click the Front headphone picture on that page (make sure your headphones are plugged in)
make sure headphone is selected..
Do the same for the microphone...
then click the Mixer tab..
scroll along till you see Front Green In and Front Pink In
Make sure they aren't Muted and raise the volume level up..
If you have a microphone plugged into one of the jacks, click the tiny button to the right of the mute button to boost your mic...
Not sure if thats your problem but ..
that control panel is a nightmare...
Good luck -

What case do you have? If it is an older case with AC97 audio then you would need to purchase something like one of these: http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=hd+audio+front+panel&tag=googhydr-20&index=electronics&hvadid=54539991636&hvpos=1t2&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11069445173547096755&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_2w99a9udvo_b
I simply got me an inexpensive case for my last upgrade since I also needed front panel USB 3 and up to date card reader in addition to the HD audio. My case was only $10 more (free shipping at time of purchase ) than the front panel module I needed so I got the new case you see in my signature instead.
