No Front Panel Audio

I have an SB Audigy 2 ZS and an Antec Aria case. I would like to use the front panel audio that uses the Intel Standard plug but acording to Creative tech support they don't support it.
The tech basically said that they don't know anything and I have to ask the forum if I want any useful information about the card. I didn't realize Creative tech support was so bad (broke several rules of the trade). But I am here to ask you guys now.
Is there a way to hook up the front panel audio ports to the sound card? My dell uses that white plug to do this. Does anyone know of an adapter that uses the intel plug on one side and the white plug so we can use the fron panel audio and mic jacks?
Thanks.

No-one replied to my similar question here, so I did some googling and posted other places online. Here are some links that should help you in your problem. I have an Antec case myself, and while I have not tried this yet, I think it should work, assuming your audio connector is similar to mine. My Antec P60 case has an Intel-spec AC97 front panel connector, but it also branches into individual leads for non-standard setu
ps.
If you have the correct connector on your Audigy2, this should work. Here are the links I have:

Someone at Creative Labs should make a sticky out of this procedure and put it in a note at the top of the thread; I bet this gets asked a lot.

What case do you have? If it is an older case with AC97 audio then you would need to purchase something like one of these:  http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=hd+audio+front+panel&tag=googhydr-20&index=electronics&hvadid=54539991636&hvpos=1t2&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11069445173547096755&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_2w99a9udvo_b
I simply got me an inexpensive case for my last upgrade since I also needed front panel USB 3 and up to date card reader in addition to the HD audio. My case was only $10 more (free shipping at time of purchase ) than the front panel module I needed so I got the new case you see in my signature instead.

I've just recently had this similar problem. I think the issue in your case is step 3. I believe you should connect the Azalia 10pin wire to your X-fi card, not the mobo.
My problem was that i had connected AC97 10pin wire to my X-fi, after which plugging in my headphones didn't mute my speakers.
That was the problem - works great now!  Thanks

  • 870A-g54 front panel audio missing from bios

Boy is this motherboard full of glitches. Teaches me a lesson about buying the cheapest for crossfire.
I would really love to use my front panel audio. Only problem is my front panel audio isn't in the BIOS!
When i bought my 870A-G54 I had to do a BIOS flash to support my six core CPU. Could the BIOS flash have changed my BIOS menu and taken away the front panel audio setting?
Lol does the motherboard even have an option to turn front panel audio on and off?
I had the bios flashed in the store the moment i baught it so i dont know how the bios looked before the flash. The Guy failed to flash my board because he had the wrong bios update and it was too big. So i had to download the right one from msi myself. People like that shouldn't work in computer stores.
My front panel audio has one of those single plug and go audio cables so im shure i couldn't install it wrong, even had the manual next to me.
Am i to be stuck without front panel audio??

BIOS does not have any options for front panel audio, it is controlled by the Realtek Audio Manager control panel.
What's the exact problem you're having?
Well i plug in my headphones to front audio and the software should recognize it and light up the ports on screen. But they stay greyed out and i have no mic or audio.
On my old asus motherboard i had to make shure front panel audio is turned on sorry for the confusion.
any idea why it doesn't pick up my headphones?
Ive tried diffrent headphones lol they dont work either

  • Front panel audio jack is not working on K9N Neo V2

My front panel audio jack is not working on K9N Neo V2. I check the JAUD1 cable and it appears to be connected to the front panel audio jack. My soundcard driver cannot detect any gadgets when I plug it in the front panel. My audio drivers and BIOS are up to date.  Is there any known solution to this? My computer is only a few months old and I have not tried the front audio jack until recently. I'm on Vista home premium btw.
Also, I've got another problem, my processor is AMD 64x2 4400+ overclocked to 2.63Ghz. I've been using that clock value ever since I built this computer and stress tested the processor and found that it would not cause any problems like hanging or overheating. However, I recently decided the need for AMD's Cool & Quiet technology and enabled it. It caused BSODs every few days or per week that didn't happen before. I tried it with the default clock value and it still causes BSODs. Can someone help me?

Thanks. Its ironic that disabling it actually enables it.
It has to day with the front panel audio wiring of your case.  How many wires are there that can be connected to the board's pin header?
    Quote
    Sound quality isn't very good
Can you be more descriptive?  Is the quality better if you plug the headphone into one of the jack at the back panel?  (Also, make sure you tell the Realtek HD Audio Manager, that a headphone is connected (and not regular speakers).

  • MSI P965 Platinum - Front Panel Audio u/s

Finally after managing to get XP Pro SP1 CD to install, I have a stable system, and thanks to those whom freely gave advice.
But we hit the next issue with this motherboard, the front panel audio.
Firstly the Realtek detection software doesn't detect anything plugged into the front panel.
    Connected the cables as follows from my Coolermaster Stacker case;
    mobo                = case wires/colour
    pin1 aud-mic      = mic-in - yellow
    pin2 aug-gnd      = gnd - black
    pin3 aud-mc-bas = mic-pwr - red
    pin4 aud-vcc      = empty
    pin5 aud-fpout-R = R out - green
    pin6 aud-ret-R    = R ret - green
    pin7 hp-on          = empty
    pin8 key
    pin9 aud-fpout-L = L out - white
    pin0 aud-ret-L    = L ret - white
The above pin out gives nothing at all, but audio from rear ports on the computer motherboard is fine.
    I also tried the following,
where the microphone wires were left disconnected, therefore just the speakers plugged into the front panel audio header
    mobo                = case wires/colour
    pin1 aud-mic      =
    pin2 aug-gnd      = gnd - black
    pin3 aud-mc-bas =
    pin4 aud-vcc      = empty
    pin5 aud-fpout-R = R out - green
    pin6 aud-ret-R    = R ret - green
    pin7 hp-on          = empty
    pin8 key
    pin9 aud-fpout-L = L out - white
    pin0 aud-ret-L    = L ret - white
The above still gave me no audio out from the front panel.
Intrestingly if I leave the front panel audio header blank, I still get rear audio fine, where I would have expected to have put jumpers across the L and R outputs as is the norm.
I have removed the front panel from the computer to ensure that the wires terminate OK, and have not been pulled out/off.
Have I plugged in the wires correctly?
Is there some hidden setting that I have missed, I admit that I do not like the Realtek audio software?
I cannot find any way to boost the microphone input since Realtek audio software has been installed.
One day case/mobo manufactures will use a standard for the front panel headers and front panel audio headers, and we will have a simple single plug to insert, rather than a group of single fiddly connectors that have to be attached to a header that was at the last minute attached to the motherboard as far away from the front of the case, and in the darkest most fiddle corner.
    Oh well......
    Cheers

AaronYuri - you're are so right there my friend.  I just pity Joe User whom might attempt such a move themselves.
In the end my entire issue was software related, and that has to be blamed on Realteks software, far too many options approached from far too many different angles. Audio is really simple, plug your cables in, and it should just work, certainly in the simple case of 2-1 speakers and a microphone. Why exactly it took a couple of hours to figure out how to get the front panel microphone to be seen in the first place, let alone any signal, is beyond me.
So my cables were all connected correctly as per the MSI manual, confirmed by my Abit manual and other post here and on other forums.
In the Realtek MSI audio software, on the I/O Audio tab, connector settings, I had to select 'disable front panel jack detection' and 'mute rear panel output when front headphones plugged in'. The other option here 'enable auto pop up...' is unchecked.
After this the Realtek software mentioned something about a new profile had been set up?
I then went to Windows Control Panel, Sounds and Audio devices, and selected the voice tab, on this page I selected 'mic IN at front panel [pink]' from the drop down list for Voice Recording'. Proceeded to 'test hardware' and the microphone is now working. This option to select the input in the drop down list was not available before.
All a bit of POKE and HOPE.
But we seem to be there.

  • Connecting the chassis-mounted front panel audio I/O module to the X-Fi Extreme Mu

    Hello to everybody.
Many pc chassis provide two audio connectors on the front side, usually for the headphones with microphone.
I need to know if I can connect the chassis-mounted front panel audio I/O module to the Sound Blaster X-Fi Extreme Music.
I saw that the X-Fi Extreme Music has the internal connector (named AD_EXT) to connect . Is there a pin mapping of the AD_EXT connector? Is it possible to connect the chassis-mounted front panel I/O module cable to the proper pin of the AD_EXT connector?
    Thank you.

Hi and thank you for your response.
Unfortunatelly I actually haven't got a X-Fi card, because I need to know if I can connect the chassis-mounted front panel audio I/O module to the card before buying it.
For this reason I don't know what is the J you're talking about. Is it an internal connector avaiable in the X-Fi Extreme Music card? Can I use this J to connect the chassis-mounted front panel audio I/O module to the card?
    Thank you.

I got a pc case, and the cables for the front panel audio are: left  , right , mic, and ground. The front panel works fine, but the rear ports dont.
What should i do to make it work?
Maybe conect left in with left out and right in with right out?

There must be a return from fron panel audio for rear ports to work
What i did was to solder a piece of solid wire on the jumper, and simply plug in the front panel audio left and right in that wire and it works FINE

  • K8N Neo Platinum + Sonata Front Panel Audio Problem

    Hello,
The front panel audio speaker output is reversed when using headphones on my K8N Neo Platinum and Antec Sonata case. If I swap the left and right front panel audio output signal connectors, the headphone speakers are fine, but then my normal front speakers are reversed. All other connectors seem to be plugged in correctly. I've tried using nvswap, but doesn't seem to work on nForce3. Currently using Realtek driver version 5.10.0.5620 (had the same problem with the drivers included on mb cd) on WinXP Pro SP1 and 5.1 speaker setup (would like to use FPA for mic/headphones while gaming).
Let me know if you need any additional info.
    Thanks.

I am having the same problem as well.  Was able to correct front output jack by switching the connections.  But rear audio is still backwards.  I havent tried any sort of 5.1 or 7.1 channel audio setups

  • MSI K9A2-CF front panel audio problem

Just rebuilt a computer using the board. Please note, I have not updated the BIOS at all and I am using XP Pro. Anywho, I've tried everything under the sun, so far, aside from previously stated, to get this sucker to work. I have it connected properly, I've installed every audio driver on the motherboard CD. I can't find a setting in the BIOS to turn on front panel audio either. Everything else works fine though. USB's, HD audio connections in the back, etc. The program in windows will detect all inputs except for the front audio in and out.
I'm a bit stumped. Any suggestions?

You have to check the wires on the plug, looks like they are wrong or the case-module is broken somewhere.
You have to start checking and measuring with an Ohm-meter.
Remember, neither case front worked. I'm not saying it couldn't be the case, but I'll try to get my hands on an Ohm-meter. Where can I find out what values I'm looking for? I know next to nothing about testing to that extent.
Also, what if it's the motherboard itself? Isn't there somewhere in the bios and/or windows device manager that I can confirm whether or not the device itself is working, or not working, properly?
Thanks for your replies so far.
    Mike,
I honestly don't know, but the case only has one audio cable, and the MB only has one audio plug-in for the front panel. I have both drivers installed. The on-board audio plug-in on the rear of the computer works fine. I can get sound, etc, no problem from the rear. Front panel only is not working.

  • Front panel audio - Headphone detection is reve

When I plug headphones in the intel hd front panel audio port the speaker settings change to 5. when I remove the headphones the creative console speaker settings change to headphones. This is functioning completely opposite of how it is intended. Is there a fix for this issue?Does anyone else have this problem?

I wish I could be of the help you really need, but you did ask if others are having no problems with the front panel jacks. I'm using the XTreme gamer card with a Gigabyte 3D Aurora case, and the front panel jacks work as expected, although I did have to insert and remove the plug many times in quick succession to "clean" the internal contacts in the jack before it would work properly. I've had no problem since. However, I never had a reverse effect like you mention. That is indeed a mystery, but I doubt that it is a software problem. Phil

  • Front Panel Audio Problems

I'm trying to make sense of the JAUD1 descriptions and enable the front panel audio jacks to work but it seems the mobo doc and the casing connectors have entirely different descriptions.
    The JAUD1 has these:
    Pin1 AUD_MIC
    Pin2 AUD_GND
    Pin3 AUD_MIC_BIAS
    Pin4 AUD_VCC
    Pin5 AUD_FPOUT_R
    Pin6 AUD_RET_R
    Pin7 HP_ON
    Pin8 Key
    Pin9 AUD_FPOUT_L
    Pin10 AUD_RET_L
    The casing's connectors are:
    Mic:
    MICOUT
    MICIN
    AGMD (Ground???)
    LineIn:
    SPKO-R
    SPKO-L
    LineOut:
    EARO-R
    EARO-L
    Reserved
What is going on??? Please help! ;(

Although it doesn't make sense as LineIn - SPKO_L/SPKO_R, I read as Speaker Out though. EARO_L/EARO_R should be headphone out.
    Pin1 AUD_MIC - MICOUT
    Pin2 AUD_GND  - AGMD
    Pin3 AUD_MIC_BIAS - MICIN
    Pin4 AUD_VCC
    Pin5 AUD_FPOUT_R - EARO_R
    Pin6 AUD_RET_R - SPKO_R
    Pin7 HP_ON

    Pin9 AUD_FPOUT_L - EARO_L

  • Front panel audio wont mute rear audio when headphones are in.

    Hello,
As the title says my sound isn't muted on the rear speakers when I plug in my headphones. The front panel audio didn't work at first, it said in the manual to disable front panel jack detection. Once I did this the audio came through the front panel, but is not muted at the rear, so I have sound from both the headphones that are plugged into the front and the speakers that are in the rear. The option to mute the rear output when headphones are plugged in is enabled, the speakers are plugged into the green jack, the rear speakers are set to stereo line out and the front is set to headphones.
Can anyone help, at the moment I have to keep unplugging the speakers to listen through the headphones without disturbing anyone else, which with the placement of my computer is not convenient.

    Hello,
I have used the link, but the drivers just install the same one I already had (both the rar and the exe do this), even if I remove the previous drivers via programs and features. Unfortunately the problem still persists, I am really stumped as to what is causing it. I am not sure if I have AC'97 or HD Audio connectors on the front of the case, as the case came with absolutely no documentation. I have provided a link to the manufacturers website if that could help in anyway.

Hey all...  I bought a case recently that has spaces for front panel audio + usb. Problem is, the case only came with the headers for the USB side of it.. I'm wondering if anyone knows where i can get the little device that i screw onto the inside of the front of the case so i can use the case to it's potential.. it's just 2 usb plugs (on top of each other) and to the right of it, the microphone and headphone plugs. I've seen it in other cases.. why they molded the case with it, but didn't put it on there... i don't know..
this is a Fudin case from Fry's Electronics ATX-208USB.
