No Fullscreen - ProRes HD 1080

Although I can play the Prores LT .mov files on quicktime in fullscreen, which means my macbook pro can handle it, in Final Cut I cannot.
Of course, external video -all frames is on and I have tried all settings in video playback (fullscreen, raw, preview, etc). My macbook pro is connected to an external 23' flatron and I cannot view fullscreen neither on this screen or the macbook's display.
Please help.

Actually it shows a frozen frame, the music goes on, as well as the timeline bar and when i press stop a new frozen frame appears at the point where i stopped.

Quicktime will drop frames, or slow the frame rate, in order to play back the movie. Question: Where are these proRes files stored? External drive?
How is the monitor connected to your computer? What do you have your VIEW>PLAYBACK settings set to?

  • Pix240  ProRes timecode isn't recognized by Premiere

I'm on the latest version of Premiere CC. We just shot a ton of media with the Pix240. The files are ProRes HQ 1080 23.98. In quicktime 7 I can see the timecode just fine. In premiere every clip starts at 00:00:00:00. If I get the properties of the clip in Premiere I can see the start timecode listed correctly. We need to send files to other software and relink to R3D Media using the timecode. Is there any way to get it working in Premiere again?

    [Copied from duplicate thread.]
I'm trying to track down what may be a bug in Premiere Pro 7.2.2.
Exact system details will be added tomorrow when I'm in front of my work machine. OS 10.8.5, Premiere 7.2.2, AJA Kona 3G.
I have 23.98 ProRes 422 footage from an outside post house. They're from a PIX recorder. I am trying to track down the exact model.
Ppro CC (7.2.2) reads this specific set of Qts as starting with "0" timecode. They are in fact time of day (various 10-11-12 hour time codes.)
The preference "Timecode: Use Media Source" is set correctly. (I even tried reversing it just in case).
Ppro CS6 reads them correctly. Final Cut 7 even reads them correctly. Exporting an XML from FCP, in which all TC is correct and matches perfectly (genlocked) results in not only 0 hour TC for each clip in Premiere, but up to 20 second offsets.
I opened The FCP XML in CS6 on my laptop, looked correct. Saved the CS6 project, opened that in 7.2.2 and got the same 0 hour TC and severely mis-aligned multi cam source sequences.
I have a workaround, I'll just run with the incorrect timecode for this one-off project. This will be a real problem, however, down the road.
Anyone else experience this? I found the following 2 threads on Adobe and one from Seth Goldin:

  • Avid segment coming to FCP, HD Prores timeline

Is there a way to get anything off the AVID onto an Apple Prores 422 1080 60i timeline? I've read here about using Avid codecs, but I want to make the AVID material totally FCP-neutral. I don't want to change my timeline. I have no idea how to work in this area. Can it be fully transcoded? Just a six minute piece of media.

Avid can export to a QuickTime .mov file.
Depending which version, maybe even to the ProRes 422 codec.

  • Black frames after export in Premiere CC 2014

    Hi,
I am getting black frames in my exported video from Premiere CC 2014 and Media Encoder CC 2014. This is my first project in the CC 2014 suite, but in CC I never had this problem. When exporting directly from Premiere or queued from Media Encoder, black frames appear at random through out my video. I am using presets H264 HD 720 29.97 and Vimeo 720 29.97. My sequence is ProRes 422 1080 29.97. I am downscaling the final product for online.
I am making no changes to the process at all. Both formats of h264 give me black frames. Has anyone else had this issue? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have also now exported to QuickTime ProRes 720 29.97 and H264 1080 20.97 and still get black frames in the final export. I am using Premiere v8.1 and Media Encoder 8.1.0.122.

  • Preview lag problem on Premiere Pro CC 2014

    Hi everything!
I have a big problem on Premiere, when I work on every type of file the Program monitor lag too much.
I can see one frame every few second!
    But the audio work well...
It seems that the computer have not enough power to show the video! And I have not modified or applied effect or transition!
I have got a MacBook Pro Early 2011 with the AMD Radeon HD 6750M (1024 MB) with the OpenCL 1.2 Engine, 2,2 GHz Intel Core i7-2720QM Quad Core (With Multithreading to 8 Core), 16 GB 1666 MHz RAM, with a Magnetic Disc (No SSD). The Machintosh is equipped by OS X Yosemite, reinstalled last week to try to fix the problem.
Before installing the CC 2014 I used the CS6 for 2 years without problem.
In Project Settings i have active the Mercury Playback Engine, and the other settings are not changed!
Someone had the same problem? Or know how to resolve? Because is not easy to use in this condition!
    Thank you very much, Andrea.

    Hi!
    Thank you for the answer!
My source footage is 1080 50p AVCHD (from Panasonic AC-AG160AEJ), but the problem is on every type of footage, because I tried with a 720 50p from a Canon EOS 6D and the ProRes 422 1080 25p of BlackMagic Production Camera 4K.
The problem doesn't change with the weight of the footage, with all of the footage type the problem is the same.
I use the original 7200rpm 750GB hard disk connected with the SATA interface. I think that is SATA 3 at 6 Gbit/s.
I have tried with all playback resolution possible (Full, 1/4 and 1/8) but the problem doesn't change, even if I change the resolution.
Unfortunately with the format of last week I lost the CS6...
I'm writing from Italy and I use the PAL standard!
I attach a video of the problem and a picture of my graphic card, if they are usefull!
    Video available at this link:

  • Premiere CC 2014 continuously generating peak files

    Hey all,
I have a problem that seems to have started last week, when I finally had the time to upgrade to 2014 (was in the middle of a few projects and did not want any 'new software issues' to us slow down).
I expect the generation to happen upon import, but I see that it is hitting the same files over and over. I checked the cache folder this morning to see what it was doing and was shocked to see that it was generating thousands of .pek files.
I have included a screenshot of the folder. This is for just one file in my project and there were 3839 of these when I came in this morning. It is also happening for all the other files in the project.
So it would seem that after it gets finished running through all the files in the project, it starts over and does another set, then another, and so on.
So, I turned off auto peak file generation and quit the program. When I restarted while no more peaks were generated, no waveforms are showing up (odd given that there are so many to choose from).
Any clue as to why this is happening?
On the current project I am using H.264 (720 29.97) files and ProRes (Lt) 1080 29.97 files (if this makes a difference).
    Mac (mid 2012) 10.8.3 - 2 x 2.4 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
    24 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 ECC
    NVIDIA Quadro K5000 4096 MB
Is this a bug, or new feature that I need to disable? I did not have this problem with CC (pre 2014).

I had this problem on Win 7. Deleted ALL of the peak files associated with the project and relaunched. It took a while for Premiere to create all new peak files, but eventually it stopped continuously rec-creating them.
    A few other things:
If you set the Preferences to Media - Save Media Cache Files next to the originals where possible, it may alleviate some problems.
Also, Premiere will create PEK files for as many audio tracks as are in the source media - even if you do not have any audio in these tracks.

  • Project Files constantly becoming Corrupt - CS6

    Hi,
I need all the help I can get. Ever since I've started editing on Premiere Pro CS6 (switch from FCP7) I've constantly run into the same problem. For every single project I have worked on, at least twice the project file will spontaneously become corrupt. There are no warning signs, it just happens at random when I open the project. I end up opening one of the auot saves but will usually lose time, and I should not have to rely on these backups as an everyday thing.
I've tried everything I can think of, I've gone so far as to load new harddrives in to my system. I've done fresh install of my OS (10.8.2) and fresh installs of the Creative Cloud. We use CS 5.5 at work with no problems and I've used PPro on and off since the very first Creative Suite and have never encountered an error such as this.
I've had absolutely no problems with After Effects, Photoshop, or Illustartor. Only PremierePro
    Thanks.
    Here are my hardware specs:
    MacbookPro (10.8.2)
    2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    GeForce 320M 256MB
    6GB RAM
120GB SSD (Holds only OS & Software)
    720GB HDD (scratch disk)
Codecs: both H.264 and ProRes at 1080/24p

The fix Adobe gave me was as follows (these are for a Mac but I'm sure archeticure would be similar on a PC)
    Go > Go to Folder > ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe
Now you will see a collective of folders for whichever adobe suite you have. Go to Premiere Pro and the next folder you should have should be labeled "6.0" change that to "60_old" or some random different label. Try opening up your original project (not the recovery proj) and see if that helps.

  • Problems when saving

I would appreciate any help on this:
I send a 2 min sequence from fcp (52 clips) to color.
    Fcp 7, color 1.5, Prores files, 1080 p (1080x1920), 30fps (from canon 5dmk2 files)
I grade the project and saving it many times during the process without problems.
Then I render all the clips, I save the project (that works) but then the spinning wheel comes up and color seems to hangs up.It's like it is writing a lot of data on the hard disk. If I wait for +/- 20 min than I can resume working in color.
If during the spinning wheel thing I "Force Quit" Color through the finder, I can reopen Color and send the graded sequence to FCP without any problem. But if I save it, than again I have the spinning wheel coming up.
I already reinstalled Color with no succes.
I also wanted to trash the Color preferences but could not find these files?
Any ideas what I can do? Many thanks!
    Eugene

  • Log and capture keeps shutting down

I just got a canon xh-a1 and im trying to capture some footage and every time it gets done or I press the esc button final cut pro shuts down and it doesn't capture the clip.... I am converting the hdv to prorez 422 1080 60i i am using the firewire 400 port for the camera and am sending the clips to a 250gb g tech firewire 800 hard drive using a macbook pro... I tried going straight to my computer hard drive and that worked for some reason, it doesn't make sense because I had a dv camera for years and could capture this way with no problems at all... If anyone has any experience with this I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

I suspect there is something not quite right with your capture settings. One item off and things do not work right. Check this article out for correct capture settings when capturing ProRes.
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/capture_hdv_prores_fwbalis.html

  • Curious behavior

Having finally got 4.1 all sorted out for my workflow, I notice something odd. When I make a conversion from ProRes to ProRes (eg 1080 to 1280 or 29.97fps to 25fps) I get the two instances but only about 50% CPU usage.
But make an H264 form a ProRes file, the CPU ramps up to 95%.
    Don't expect any answers.

  • Frame Rate Conversions Nightmare!

Hello Everyone. I'm in a pickle! I have multiple formats and frame rates that I am trying to combine into one project. I have at my disposal an HDW-f500 HDCAM deck and a Kona LHE card. I have projects that include PAL SD, HDV 1080i60, Apple HDV 1080i50, HDV 720p24, and ProRes 1920 1080, and XDCAM 720p24.
This is a global project that I have been charged with combining into one output. I don't know what the final output has to be, but I am looking at moving toward HDCAM 23.98psf. But, if anyone has a contrary suggestion, I am open to it.
So, what is the workflow here? Can I spit each to tape at their respective framerates and then reacapture them all use the Kona LHE to 23.98 ProRes HD? If so, what is the setup required. I am nearly at the end of my rope with this. Any and all help is greatly appreciated

HOLY COW....what a mess! I certainly don't envy you in this task.
You have the wrong capture card for the task. The Kona LHe captures analog, but won't convert 720p to 1080, or 1080 to 720...nor upconvert SD to HD. Only the Kona 3 can do that. But it cannot do any frame rate conversion...no 29.97 to 23.98.
With the Kona 3 I capture at the native rate, then either use Compressor to convert (29.97 to 23.98), or Cinema tools to conform (25 to 23.98). And I capture everything to the SAME codec...DVCPRO HD or ProRes.
    Gotta get a Kona 3.

  • Cinema Tool: Conforming to 23.98fps from 30fps problem

After exporting an about 4 and half minutes long ProRes 422 1080 30p footage in mov, it runs smoothly anywhere... and then when I open it in Cinema Tool, it's ok.
The problem occurs once I conform it to 23.98fps, the video becomes corrupted at the 2 min mark, I can't view the last 2 and half minutes anywhere - it just cant go past the 2 minute mark.
I don't know if the 2 minutes thing is just coincidence.

The issue is apparently a conflict between leopard and Compressor. I located a patch online.

  • FCP X playback stucks

when i hit the play button i have to wait for 5-8 seconds before it starts playing!?
i looked through all possible performance improvements found on the web and tried them out, but without any solution or increase of performance.
strange thing is that skimming through the clips has no delay at all....  instant reaction.
    any ideas?
    and i am working with:
    * MacBookPro9,1 i7 2,3GHz, 8GB RAM
    * 10.8.5
    * System on SSD
    * PRORES LT 1080 25p files on a seperated disc (7200rpm via internal SATA Bus)
    * No Backgroundtasks of FCP
    * No other Apps active

it seems that my massive use of 20x speedup (retiming) is causing the problem...
even though all of the clips are rendered and even if i play a clip in normal speed within the project.
    strange, but true!
fcp issue - please fix it! where to address these bugs?
first day using fcpX and already found a bug... omg, i hope it doesnt continue.
and i spent another couple of hours problem solving.... and the project should be finished allready....

  • 29.97 DV-NTSC cutting with 1920 X 1080 ProRes 422

I'm working on a documentary that was shot in multiple formats (RED, EX-1/3, DVCPROHD). I've converted everything to 1920 X 1080 Apple ProRes 422 23.98 (RED in HQ) and have been cutting in same sequence settings. I just got a hold of some stock footage that needs to be incorporated and was shot letter-boxed 4:3 (not anamorphic) DV-NTSC at 29.97.
I've been experimenting with different Compressor settings and can deal with the interlacing/artifacting problem pretty well, but can't seem to find a setting that interprets the motion properly. No matter what I do, I'm left with a jerky quality to the video that is off-putting and distracting. I've searched around the net for answers on this but can't seem to find exactly the right solution.
    Any suggestions?
Message was edited by: Mr. Landers

    Hi,
It sounds like a field order problem, DV NTSC is lower field while I believe the rest of your footage will be upper field and you sequence settings will be set to upper field.

  • How do I set up Premiere as ProRes 422 at 1440 x 1080?

    Hello.
I am still on the learning curve for Premiere Pro having held out on FCP 7 for as long as possible.
    Anyway.
I need to edit a project that was shot on HDV.
It was originally captured as ProRes 422 in FCP at 1440x 1080. I am now importing the video files into Premiere.
I want to continue to edit in ProRes 422 at 1440 x 1080.
I have the ProRes 422 codec installed for Premiere but I can't figure out how to change it from its default of 1920 x1080. When I change the 1920 to 1440 it changes the 1080 to 810.
I might be doing this in the wrong place. I am attempting to change it in the sequence settings under video previews. I can't seem to find anywhere else to change it.
    Can someone please advise?
    Many thanks.

Open a matching  Sequence by dropping the clip on the "NEW ITEM" Icon at bottom of the Project Panel.
