No graphics in vista using media live AM2
I have just built my second media live, based on AMD Athlon 64 X2 4850e 2.5GHz Socket AM2 and 4gb of 667mhz crucial memory - see see http://www.ebuyer.com/product/142387
and 1TB Samsung Green HDD.
My first Live, would not play any videos at all, just go mozaic type images when playing a video source. so i sent this one back, assuming it to be faulty.
got a replacemnt yesterday - it was running v 1.4 bios, so in order for my amd processor to work, i updated the bios to 1.63, great i thought, firstly i loaded up windows xp media edition, seemed to be going great, but when i when i loaded up media center, the screen went black, and just started to break up.
right then so i installed vista ultimate, and that was even worse. it seemed to load ok, but when it finally finished, it just gave a broken screen image, the only thing i could do is switch it off.
I cant believe 2 of these machines can be faulty?
Could it be the memory? im using 2, x 2gb sticks in slots 1&2. see http://www.ebuyer.com/product/142387
i tried taking one out with a view to diagosing the problem, but that made no effect. Is 667mhz fast enough?
or do you think this is faulty. please this is doing my head in... or should i just buy a riser card and put a pcie card in?
thanks in anticipaton.
john
Just tried some kingston 667 1.8v and same in all slots.
tried slot 1 only, 1 and 2, 1 and 3, 1 and 4, 4 only.
cant believe it came be the ram.
i think there must be a fault, it came with bios v1.4 and i upped it to 1.63. when i get a replacemtn should i keep it on 1.4?
if that does not work then the next step will be a duel pcie/pci riser i think

MSI Media Live - HDMI Problems
Hi all
Hope somebody can help?
Got a little problem with this system when connected via HDMI cable.
On boot up it displays the Windows Start up info (not sure the correct term) and the logo saying Windows XP loading, but then get a blank screen. If I change over to scart all is OK I can see the desktop.
Possibly something daft, but it has beat me.
Many thanks

Live text template render issue when using Media Encoder?
I'm running into flash frames with Media Encoder exports of Premiere sequences using the live text templates.
Unfortunately, AME doesn't flag it as an error, so the render completes without any issues in the render log and the only way to find it is to watch the rendered file.
I have tried different combinations of having After Effects open or closed, with the live text template comp open or closed; I can't consistently reproduce the problem with any certainty and so am having trouble pinpointing the source.
My only hypotheses so far are that:
The glitches seem to be happening in the dynamic link between AME and PP, not AE and PP. The live text will pop back to the duplicated comp's text for one frame. Video playing simultaneously doesn't pop.
In other words, the AE text template said: "name here". In PP it was edited to say "John Doe", then that comp was duplicated and edited to say "Bob Smith". Everything looks fine in PP. There are no keys on the source text in AE (I have noticed that if there are keys on the source text in AE, the text will pop back to the original AE text at that key in PP).
When rendered out of AME, halfway through Bob Smith's title, it will read "John Doe" for a single frame, then pop back to being Bob.
I've only had this happen so far with AME renders. The renders out of PP haven't given me any issues so far.
It might happen more frequently on longer segments? If a title is up for 45 sec instead of 10 sec, it may be more likely to pop.
The issue seems to occur more often in batch renders out of AME (happened to 3 of 5 files rendered in a batch, AME 2014.1) and/or with unrelated AE comps open (on a single render from AME 2014.2)
Again, it doesn't happen every time or to the same title, or in the same spot. Files are being rendered to ProRes 422 HQ. Unchecked "Use Previews" in AME.
Would be nice to get to the bottom of what's happening so I can recommend something to the editors when I hand off these live text templates to them.
I realize that the live text is a new feature as of 2014.1, but haven't found anyone else talking about this. Would love if this was a very simple fix that I'm missing.
I was able to reproduce the error on 2 different machines, with similar specs:
Premiere CC 2014.1 and 2014.2
Media Encoder CC 2014.1 and 2014.2
Mac tower 2010

I can't see the preview of my source on Flash media live encoder ... I'm using CamTwist on mac
Carolyn,
I think your TV might be a rear projection model, correct? Those types of TVs inherently have overscan built into them as part of their optical design. The TV should have some picture SIZE settings that affect how much overscan is present, and some settings may even get rid of it altogether with the result there might be a small black border instead.
Don't worry about changing TV settings. Settings like this are tied to a specific input. So if you make these types of changes while the TV is passing the mini's video through to the screen, those changes will only apply to the mini. When you switch to other inputs, like a cable box, etc., the old settings should still be intact and unchanged. -
How to use Flash Media Live Encoder as a web Service
Coud we use the Flash Media Live Encoder as a Web Service installed on another Server (Preferebaly on the Flash Media Server Itself).
FMLE is typically used on the client side, and it doesn't have any sort of API that you would use to run it as a service. That said, unless you wanted to publish a camera that is connected to the server, I'm not sure why you'd want to run FMLE as a service.
Perhaps if you explain what is is you want to accomplish.... -
Using Flash Media Live Encoder with a camera without FireWire
Hi,
Right now we have beeing using an old DV tape based camera connected to Flash Media Live Encoder via FireWire for live streaming.
We are looking at getting either an Sony AX2000 or HXR-NX5U camera as they are flash based. Unfortunately, they don't have FireWire ports.I image that I would not be able to stream via USB, but I'm not sure if anyone is familar with either of these cameras.
Does anyone know of any posisble way (ideally without new equipment) that this would work?
Ports on the HXR-NX5U
Audio Out RCA type (CH-1, CH-2)
Component Out RCA type (x3) via A/V multi connector
Composite Video Out RCA type (x1)
S-Video Out N/A (optional VMC-15FS is required.)
SDI Out BNC (x1)
HD-SDI/SD-SDI selectable
USB Mini-B (x1)
Thank you for your help!Hi there,
You may be able to take the RCA connection out of the new camera and put it in to your old DV camera if it has the avaliable inputs?
Also, USB is sometimes used for video so I woul have a look around for some info about it with your camera.
failing that your best bet would be to either buy a cheap Aanlog to Digital Concerter (ADC) that takes in composite and firewire on the RCAs. this woul mean that you are using the lowest quality and resolution that is avaliabe to you though!
You could stump up of an SDI or HDSDI input from the likes of AJA or Blackmagic. this would also give you the digitised XLR audio inputs
Hope this helps!

Is it possible to use an IP camera as an input to Flash Media Live Encoder?
I am new to this forum so please pardon my ignorance....
I want to use my Sony IP camera (such as model SNC-RX550) as an input to the Flash Media Live Encoder, it that possible? If so, where would I go to get started please? Any help would be very much appreciated.
DavidI would say NO. You would need a composit output from the camera to feed the video into the encoder. Since the IP camera doesn't do that it's not gonna work.

Can a Panasonic HD Camera be used with Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3.2
Can a Panasonic HD Camera be used with Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3.2 instead of my Laptop webcam.
yes it can but you need an in/out device to "link" the HDMI output from your HD camera to your computer via, USB or firewire
BlacMagic sell those, Matrox and AJA are some of the other brands on the market. -
I use the example FMS installation files, Flash Media Live Encoder is very well, but when I released the source replaced with flash 11.4 a worse problem.
Beginning everything is normal and Flash Media Live Encoder does not make any difference, but when I upload bandwidth limit to 2KB / S (This situation often occurs in the actual situation, such as the user suddenly side live side of upload files), video and audio becomes very blocked, this is not the key to the problem is to when I upload bandwidth settings for normal, blocking situation will be no better, and have been very bad, but Flash Media Live Encoder automatically adjusted to normal, flash 11.4 but not.
I have to use flash 11.4, nobody will go to install Flash Media Live Encoder.
Mike Do you test only test Flash Media Live Encoder, but did not test flash, or flash need another set of code, but I really can not find a reason.
Please help me, God。

FMS 3.5 DVR Using Flash Media Live Encoder 3.0
Hi,
I am trying to work out the DVR feature of FMS 3.5 by using
the Flash Media Live Encoder 3.0 but it failed.
On right bottom of the Flash Media Live Encoder's UI, there
is a check box labeled "". I subscribed a live stream to FMS 3.5
with that check box checked and the server side report a error:
Method not found (DVRSetStreamInfo).
So it seems that the FMLE send a remote function call on the
sever side but the server side script has no definition of this
method.
Dose anybody know how to get rid of the problem.
Thanks,
Anghere's some sample code you can use in a server-side action-script to deal with the fme dvr recording:
(a list of all available properties can be found at the end of this post)
Client.prototype.DVRSetStreamInfo = function(dvr_obj)
// if the date is Wed Dec 31 1969 it's starting
if (dvr_obj.stopRec.getFullYear() <= 1970)
//place code here to start / continue recording.
/* sample:
var new_stream = Stream.get("recorded_ " + dvr_obj.streamName);
if (new_stream)
if (dvr_obj.append)
new_stream.record("append");
else
new_stream.record();
new_stream.play(dvr_obj.streamName);
else
//place code here to stop recording.
/* sample:
var new_stream = Stream.get("recorded_ " + dvr_obj.streamName);
if (new_stream)
new_stream.record(false);
here is a list of properties available to the "dvr_obj" passed from FMLE:
- all properties below are informational only they are meant to be used on the server-side to pass the information to the correct function.
streamName : string
callTime : date
startRec : date
stopRec : date
maxLen : number
begOffset : number
endOffset : number
append : boolean (fmle sets this to true if the stream was cut-off without the user pressing "stop" or if the user pressed "pause"...)
offline : boolean -

MSI Media Live install problem
Just got myself a Media Live but I have a little bit of a problem with it and I hope someone can help me...
I've tried installing many different OS on it from Windows XP to Vista to 7 and even tried the XBMC live OS but all have the same issue... install fine until the reboot, black screen, then screen garbage (like a mess on the screen).
It's connected via HDMI as I don't currently have another way to connect it.
Spec is...
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ 2.9GHz Socket AM2 512KBx2 L2 Cache OEM Processor
Extra Value 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz PC2-6400 240pin Extra Value Ram
Western Digital WD3200AAJS 320GB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm 8MB Cache - OEM Caviar Blue
Now I know the 5600+ isn't in the list of CPUs which are compatible however it is recognised after a bios update.
Also, my ultimate boot CD's "portable" version of XP runs fine on it too, reports the CPU, all the ram, everything.
Any help is much appreciated. If it sounds like it's the CPU then I may toy with sending the 5600 back and getting something else (advice).That's my last resort at getting it working as it'll add a further £50 to the cost of the machine as I can't return the 5600+ (it'll be covered in thermal grease) and have no use for it for anything else.
The power used by the 5600+ (65 W) is the same as the 5200+ (which is in the list) and the PSU is more than capable of providing it. Also, with the "live" (portable) version of XP running fine on the PC I can't see why the CPU would be the issue...
Specs of the 5600+ (my CPU)
* Core Speed (MHz) - 2900
* Wattage - 65 W
* L1 Cache Size (KB) - 128
* L1 Cache Count 2
* L2 Cache Size (KB) - 512
* L2 Cache Count 2
* CMOS - 65nm SOI
* Socket - AM2
* Revision - G2
Specs of the 5200+ (listed as being suitable)
* Socket - AM2
* Model - AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+
* Revision - G2
* Wattage - 65W
* L2 Cache Size - 1MB
* Core Speed MHz - 2700
* CMOS - 65nm SOI
Other than the core speed I fail to see how these two CPUs differ.
I'm not ruling it out, I just can't spend a further £50 on this machine, I would rather spend less on a new mobo which does support the CPU. -
Problem with VFD on Media Live
Hi.
I'm having strange problems with VFD on my MSI Media Live. I'm using Vista Ultimate Media Center on it.
The problem is that when the computer starts the VFD shows everything correctly like tv channel number or music tittles etc, but when I turn the system to sleep and then wake it from sleep the VFD shows sleeping scrolling and nothing else. Nothing helps, powering off, turing off and on Vista Media Center... It shows always the same thing scrolling: sleeping You can watch tv, listen to music but the VFD always shows sleeping.
I'm using the latest drivers for chipset, graphics and for the VFD. If I install the previous driver for VFD ver 2.4 it still shows sometimes sleeping but turning off and on Vista Media Center resolves the problem but not with the newest 2.7 VFD driver version.
Can anyone confirm this issue ?
I'll be thankfull for any sugestion how to resolve the problem.Quote
But now I have worse video quality on my LCD TV
I too switched to VGA output to my LCD TV, but I cannot see any noticable difference in quality. In fact, it is better, as the picture fits exact on the screen, whereas when connected via HDMI, I had to make corrections for overscan, and when switching between desktop and Media Center, there was an irritating pause as the picture flickered on and off.
But I too have noticed that my VFD behaves perfectly now, where it would sometimes do as you described earlier.
Either way, I'm happy with how its working at present, and am not going to start messing again!
