No group message option in iMessage option in settings

For some reason I don't have a group messaging option under iMessage options, I'm using a 5s and running ios 7.1.1

The Group Message option is not an iMessage option, it is an MMS message option. It will disappear if you have MMS Messaging turned off. It is also possible that it could be related to your cellular carrier/plan. The following quotation is from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5760
The Group Messaging setting applies only to MMS messages.
Your wireless carrier may restrict the maximum number of recipients allowed in a group message with MMS.
Disabling Group Messaging has no effect on iMessage behavior. Responses to group iMessages are always sent to all recipients.
Group messaging with MMS requires an appropriate plan from your carrier for use on iPhone.
Carrier messaging rates may apply when using group messaging with MMS.

  • Group Message only sends iMessages not SMS

Hello all. I just recently moved to Android but my spouse is still on an iPhone. For some reason, when she group messages it is only sending responses to those with imessage on their phone.  However if she sends me a non group message (only me) it recognizes it as a SMS, turns green and sends the text perfectly. However it will not recognize that I do not have imessage when sending a group text.
She has iMessage, Send as SMS, MMS Messaging and Group Messaging all turned all, but no luck.
The other people with iphones in the group, can send the group texts and their iphones are converting my text to SMS. Its just my wifes phone not sending me SMS when I am in a group, only sending me a SMS when direct to me only..
The phone is updated to the latest software, and I even rebooted her phone with no luck..
Anyone have any idea what is happening?
    Arghh...........

You can only send imessage to other iphone user running IOS 5.0 or higher.
Other phone will send as a text.  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3529

  • HT5760 I am not getting the Leave Conversation option in Group Messaging in iOS 8

I am not getting the "Leave Conversation" option on Group Messaging on some group messages.

    Hello tchadden,
This option is only available if there are more than three people in the group iMessage or if the group message uses MMS.
Leave this Conversation might not be available if there are only three people in the group iMessage or if the group message uses MMS.
Send a group message with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  • HT3529 IMessage and Group Message question

with iphone 4S if I turn off iMessage and group message and someone sends a message to me and other people, will my reply "reply all" to everyone the message was sent to? Or is it only that when I send to multiple people their responses are only sent to me?

You can send a message to multiple recipients using SMS, MMS, and iMessage.
Group messaging allows you to send messages to multiple people and have any responses delivered to everyone in the group. Group messaging works with iMessage and MMS.
If you send a message to multiple recipients without group messaging in use by the sender and all recipients, an individual message will go to each recipient using either SMS or MMS. Responses to these messages will be delivered only to the original sender in seperate messaging threads.

  • Send group message as iMessage and text

Is there a way to send a group message as both iMessage and text message? When texting two people, one with iPhone and one without, the person without doesn't get the message. The person who doesn't have an iphone used to and now when I try I send her an individual text, my iphone tries to send it as an iMessage. It will usually fixes it and sends it as a text. Could this be why the group messages aren't going through?

The quick fix is to delete the conversation and start again but then you lose any history.
Here's how to fix it without losing the conversation history:
Start a new conversation with the people from the conversation Apple broke.
Add yourself as a recipient too.
Send a message to the conversation.
You will see your sent message.
You will then "receive" a group iMessage. This shows up as another conversation to the one you just sent the message to.
To stop future messages from yourself also being sent to yourself, you can now "leave" the group conversation you started.
Then just reply as normal to the conversation you "received" in step 5.
After a while iOS will actually merge the new conversation with the old conversation you were trying to save. I'm not sure what triggers it to do that.

  • Group messages in iOS4

I've read several places that a new function came with iOS4 that allows you to group replies to texts sent to multiple recipients. However, I don't see the enabling/disabling this in settings (under Messages). Is it carrier-dependant or what?

    1. Go to Settings On Home Screen
    2.Go to the Messages Section
3.There should be a on/off button below MMS Messaging called "Group Messaging ON/OFF"
That option is also missing from the update on my 3gs

  • Group messaging setting not there!

That option is available only when AT&T is your mobile carrier.

  • Group messaging not working with groups that contain non iphone users

I have an Iphone 5 and for some reason I can't send/receive group messages with groups that contain non Iphone users.  Basically I recieve single text messages/imessage from each person who responds to the group message.  This is incredibly annoying.

    Hello, megbu36.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Check to make sure that group messaging is enabled.  Go to Settings > Messages and turn on Group messaging.

  • Shut OFF group messages?

I got my iPhone 5 a few weeks ago. I set my GROUP MESSAGES to OFF. When I would send a message to a few friends. It always said "OUTGOING" at the top and when they replied, it went into their individual message thread and only to me, which is what I wanted. Then suddenly it started going as a GROUP message.
The only thing I changed was I put iMessage to ON, as I was told I was showing 'green' instead of 'blue' and I could then use iMessage on my macbook and phone.
Now I'm 'blue' to all other iPhones, but the group message is back!!  What is going on? Is this a bug or something?
    Here's my settings:
    iMessage ON
    Send Read Receipts OFF
    Send as SMS ON
    MMS Messaging ON
    Group Messaging OFF
    Show Subject Field OFF
    Character Count OFF
I would think GROUP and iMessage are two seperate things!  Am I wrong and I just have to keep iMessage off? Then I won't be able to get iMessages on my phone??
For me to just turn off iMessage everytime I want to send a group message seems ridiculous to me. Settings are there for a reason....and if GROUP is OFF, GROUP should be OFF?  Right???
    Thanks in advance,
    Bette

I do not think Adobe realizes the extent of how difficult this.  PDFs are the future of reading, and it is really hard when you have to click on the message twice to open a document, when one click should do.  It does not make ergonomic sense.  If anything Adobe should open the documen and display that message as an afterthought.  I am getting osteoarthritis in my index finger from this.  I do not like to update, because sometimes people just like to run a simpler and faster software without the frills.  Sometimes one just wants to simply read a document.  It would be really nice (and honest) if we were not nagged constantly to update software, and Adobe would make a quick fix for this...how hard can that be with all their software developers...that is something I would be willing to pay for.  It just damages the relationship between the customer and the client, because they are getting us at our most vulnerable.  I think it hurts adobe in the long run and will allow only pdf readers to become more popular.  Please Adobe help me!

  • Group Message Issues

While using Google Hangouts on my Moto X I do not receive groups messages from certain people. However, I do receive messages from that person in a one to one message. I just recently switched from an iPhone 4 in December 2013 and have been having this issue ever since. I have tried to unregister my number from iMessage and Apple and that seemed to work for all but one person. This is driving me crazy. I love my Moto X but may have to switch back to my old iPhone to fix this problem. Please Help.

        Hi twelch1107,
I'd like to assist you with this concern. Are the people you are not able to receive the group messages from using iMessaging? Which OS or mobile app version are you using? If you are running Android 4.4 KitKat®, or higher, follow these steps to turn on SMS. Open the Hangouts app, go to Settings > SMS > and touch SMS Disabled to make Hangouts your primary text messaging app.

  • Group messaging question...

My friends and I are testing the Group Messaging features in iMessage (iphone and ipad).  We both have Group Messaging off, but when I send a message to two other iMessage users, it goes out as a Group Message.  They both are on their iphones and can see each other's phone number.  However, they can only see my messages, not each other's replies.
I would think with Group Messaging off, they should not be able to see each other's phone numbers.  In other words, my text to multiple people should appear to them as an individual text messages sent just to them.  Is this a flaw?

Sure. You can use this link to provide Apple feedback, which ensures that your feedback is forwarded to and read by the appropriate Apple personnel, but this doesn't mean what you request will be implemented anytime soon if ever. You are certainly not the first person who has requested this, and you probably won't be the last. I have used the feedback link for this primarily for the Mail client.

  • I randomly stopped receiving group messages???

I have this group message with my friends and I've always been receiving everyone's messages. It contains 4 people, including me. Me and two others have iphones and the other has an samsung s3. I've been receiving them fine until It stopped. I can send them and they'' receive it but I can't see their replies. I can send individual messages and see them, but not for that particular group message. I can receive group messages from an Imessage group, but not that one. Any help pls?

    This is the solution: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5323646?start=0&tstart=0
In short, you are out of memory in your SMS Attachments folder and the phone won't accept the additional data from the group message/picture message. There is a program called iBackupBot which will solve the problem. It allows you to delete these attachments from the root of the phone. It isn't free but it is worth every penny. I hope this solves your issue because it solved mine.

  • No 'group message' option

I have an iPhone 5s and iPad and I am unable to receive any group messages. Both devices are up to date and it is only recently that this has changed. In settings I do not have the 'group message' option. Any help welcome. Thanks.

Did you happen to get a carrier update when you updated your firmware? Have you contacted your carrier? SMS/MMS are carrier functions, unless you are referring to iMessage. Check with the carrier and make sure your plan supports MMS. While it may have in the past, upgrades can cause issues with your accounts.

    Hi t.romano91,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
I'm not sure why you had to manually enter your contact information, but if you created and turned on your iCloud account, the information should be there.
The link below will give you a general overview of iCloud, and how to look at your contacts:
    iCloud Help: Contacts overview
I've also included the User Guide for the iPhone below to help you get started ...
Please note that the Contacts App (looks like a brown address book) is located inside the Utilties folder on your home screen.  Press and hold the Utilities folder and it will jiggle.  Then drag the Contacts App out onto the home screen for easier access. (see page 20 of the guide below).
    manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
Page 100 - 102 explains how the Contacts feature works.
    Enjoy your new iPhone!
    Have a great day!
