  • No HDD Recovery Area! While HDD Recovery Partition is exists

About 2 days ago, my laptop (T115-1125) was crashed, I can't get into the windows because some error like this (Grub Loading error, blabla), knowing it, I realize that I just have one pieces Recovery Disc (I don't back it up until complete), and this is my fault, I tried that Recovery disc and load it, when I pressed F12 (multiboot menu) and make a choice on DVD Drive, then, I choose an option the middle one (*i guess), Recovery without changing any drive , and i just pressed next" until the recovery process asked me to insert the next disc, but i don't have it, And now my laptop runs windows vista x86 (Pirate Edition), Recovery Disc Creator was installed, and i just double click it, and the system tell me that i don't have any HDD Recovery Area!, so it couldn't be load, and i open "my computer", there is a Drive (FHDDRECOVERY <=== and that was a Recovery Partition, but why it doesn't hide like when i use windows 7 HP before? Can I just Back it up using another Burning tools (with multisession DVD) and use it to recovery my laptop ? If I don't, how can I get into Recovery Partition and Recovery my laptop without any of disc? I was pressed  "0" repeatedly but nothing happen, I'm stuck. Can anyone help me solve this problem? I hate this pirate vista so much!!

  • "No HDD Recovery Area" on my Satellite 350D

I think I might have messed something up, and I know it's not too big of a deal if I don't mess up my computer, but I just want to be sure. I believe I have deleted the recovery partition. I have four in my Disk Management tool.
NO NAME (it's just blank here) - Healthy (EISA Configuration)
(D:) - Healthy Primary Partition (this one had nothing in it, so I started using it for my music files)
New Volume - Healthy (Logical Drive) - this is another one that i formated, never knew what was in it. I don't use it anymore, I removed the drive letter and it's not doing anything.
S3A6555D004 (C:) - Healthy (System, boot, page file... etc)
When I click on the recovery disk creator, I get this error:
    "No HDD Recovery Area!
The Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator can not be launched."
Is there anything I can do to repair this? My laptop is a Satellite 350D, and I don't know what I can do to fix this.
    Thanks!

Sascha is absolutely right. There is no recovery partition and this partition is also not hidden as meny people think. One your sentence is very interesting:
    >(D:) - Healthy Primary Partition (this one had nothing in it, so I started using it for my music files)
The Toshiba recovery image is always saved on second (D) partition in folder called HDDRecovery and if this folder is removed or deleted you will not be able to create recovery DVD or start HDD installation.
So the best thing you can do is to order new Toshiba recovery DVD.

  • Portege Z830 - "No HDD Recovery Area" any more

    Hi,
today I wanted to make recovery USB key with Toshiba Recovery media Creator. For this purpose I bought 16 GB 3/10 MB/s Verbatim key.
I tried several times with no success. Every time I tried Toshiba Recovery media Creator noticed error: *Error code 040E2D-00-00000000* ... or nothing happened. I put in another new 16 GB USB 3/10 MB/s and happened the same.
After that I tried the third USB key I had - Corsair 32GB USB 3.0. And It worked - I successfully made USB recovery key, but this key I use for other things ..
So I continued with 16 GB Verbatim key. After some more trials Toshiba Recovery media Creator noticed "*No HDD Recovery Area"* And after that I could do nothing.
*What to do now?* I think I didnt' do anything wrong, just tried to put recovery data into 16 GB key. The only think I did is formating this key in different formats (with disk management ... because after every trial Computer even didn't recognize key ...).
Thank you for your advices in advanced.
    Tomaz

Yes, I successfully created recovery USB stick - 32 GB Corsair. After I made it, I tried again with 16 GB key, and then happened ...
So Toshiba Recovery Media Creator now says that there is no HDD recovery area, although I can see it with disk manager (picture).
When I startup Z830 and hit F8 I can see only Windows options - menu. Is that OK? I wouldn't like to start recovery process (I think recovery option it is also on menu F12 - select boot media), because it takes time to install all software I need - also I need wireless and printers connections at my job and I can't do this myself ....
Does Toshiba recovery process start with Windows 7 installation - first choosing keybord, .. or has his own menu?

  • No HDD Recovery Area!

I just purchased a brand new Toshiba laptop from Best Buys, a Satellite C55 Series (C55D-A5108 - Part No. PSCFU-04C031) and one of the first things I attempted to do was to create a set of recovery media disks.
    When I pull up the Recovery Media Creator app I get following message;
    No HDD Recovery Area!
The Toshiba Recovery Media Creator cannot be launched.
Disk Manager clearly shows the machine to have two recovery partitions (one of 1.00 GB and another of 8.33 GB) as well as an EFI system partition of 100 MB and the primary boot parition of 689.08 GB.  Since both of the recovery partitions show to have 100% free space, it would seem that they are both empty.
What's the deal with all that?

Take it back to best buy and exchange it for one that works. You should not have to deal with a new defective product and most stores give you a short time to return the item.

  • No HDD Recovery Area, Windows 7 backup process fails.

(similar problem to Mr. archegudnam posting)
This new Toshiba NB205 Running Win7 consistently fails attempts to use the Recovery Media Creator.
"No HDD Recovery Area" is the quoted cause. However, the Windows Administrator Disk Management Tool reports the partition to be healthy.
Additionally, Windows Backup Tool fails. No backup media is created, including disk image option failure, regardless the backup data selection criteria (windows choose or I choose ). Following the logs to the failure report indicated, specify an "unsupported file system".
All available updates (Windows and Toshiba) have been requested via automatic update tools.

    Mr. archegudnam
You are not alone. I have a new Toshiba NB205 running Windows7, and I too receive the message "No HDD Recovery Area" from the OEM Toshiba Recovery Media Creator s/w bundled on the machine, as received at purchase.
Using Windows Backup also fails, sees an "unsupported file system", will not back up or even create a simple disk image.
The only thing I have not tried yet is the image creator built into the u-lead s/s bundled with the Toshiba CD/DVD (USB) Optical Drive accessory, the one advertised alongside the NB205 on Toshiba web site.
Mr. Jim - Is there any help from Toshiba on the horizon for this issue? I have already attempted to find posted updates with the built-in update tool.

  • Recovery media creator: "Can not get Disk driver information. No HDD Recovery area!...

The Toshiba Recovery Media Creator can not be launched."
That´s the final part of the message I receive when I try to make the system image.
As you can see (image below), this recovery partition exists, I haven´t deleted nor modified it in any way, and besides it´s in good state. I don´t understand why I get this error message. What can I do to get this recovery partition recognized by the application. I really need to make a system image.
Please, if somebody has any idea of how to fix this thing, I´d really appreciate your help.
    Thanks in advanced.

Will, I'm afraid you'll need to order recovery discs and restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using them.

BTW, the 1.46 GB partition you're looking at is not the recovery partition. It contains the Windows Recovery Environment.

The archivelog directory for 2008_01_19 has a modification time of Jan 23 23:30 - this is almost 4 days after it was last written to.
The current redundancy setting in RMAN is shown in the output of show all:

    RMAN configuration parameters are:

    From 2 Day DBA:
Even after files in the flash recovery area are obsolete, they are generally not deleted from the flash recovery area until space is needed to store new files. As long as space permits, files recently moved to tape will remain on disk as well, so that they will not have to be retrieved from tape in the event of a recovery.
What is the current space used in the FRA and what is the FRA disk limit ?

  • Missing File while creating a HDD Recovery CD

    Hi,
At first my English is not the best.
    And now my problem:
When I try to create a new HDD Recovery CD an error occurs telling me there is a File missing
    This is the Error message:
The following file could not be opened,
    F:\08011XSP5.swm
    (Errorcode 020123-F1-00000000)
I just translated the error message so maybe there are some mistakes in it.
I got a Satellite A300-1QD. Got it on 20th of March.
I dont know what to do. Can someone help me?

    >I dont know what to do. Can someone help me?
In my opinion you should do follow:
Make screenshots of all errors as evidence. Try to create recovery media using DVD-R media and use high quality media as TDK or Verbatim.
If the same happen again try to contact nearest authorized service provider and explain the situation. I hope you will get new original Toshiba recovery media.
The missing file is for me serious problem and if you cannot create recovery media I am afraid you cannot install Vista again using F6 option and HDD recovery procedure. If this is true you can stay without operating system. Please don't make any experiments with F6.
Contact ASP and try to get recovery media for free. Use screenshots as evidence.
By the way: I have Satellite A300 but I was lucky and recovery creation worked properly.

  • Satellite L670 - System HDD Recovery does not start

    Hello together,
I have a problem with my Laptop. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit the laptop came with Win7 Home Premium 32bit.
Now I want to restore the original Windows Home Premium. On the laptop is a second partition with a folder named "HDD-Recovery".
When i hold the "0" button on start nothing happens. The System Recovery doesnt start.
Can you help my fix the problem.
    Thanks and regards,
    Dinder

    Hello together,
please read until end before starting recovery! After searching all the web I found a method to reset a Toshiba satellite L500-1UR to factory settings. Before I want to describe the approach I will summerize my starting situation.
I got the laptop from my brother. The boot manager was changed while another Windows Version was installed. So the option Toshiba HDDRecovery in the options of "repair computer" or the option itself after pressing F8 at boot time wasn't available. Fortunately, he didn't delete the "HDDRecovery" folder on its DATA partition, so all factory images were available. To install I needed a method to apply an image installation. This is possible with the Windows 7 recovery CD you can download it for example [here|http://digiex.net/downloads/download-center-2-0/applications/2659-windows-7-32-bit-x86-recovery-disc.html] .
Boot this CD, start a command prompt. The way to do this is described [here|http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/668-system-recovery-options.html] .
At command prompt you change to the partition with the HDDRecovery folder. At my brothers laptop it was:
    D:\HDDRecovery
In a sub-folder you will find the command line tool "imagex". At my brothers laptop it was located in:
    D:\HDDRecovery\ODDFiles\Tools
On the other hand, you need the image files. These files were located in
    D:\HDDRecovery\SWImg\
and ended with .swm . swm-files are splited wim-files, the Microsoft format for image files. For your problem you must locate your "imagex" and your swm-files. On my brothers laptop there were 6 files
    10656XSP.swm
    10656XSP2.swm
    10656XSP3.swm
    10656XSP4.swm
    10656XSP5.swm
    10656XSP6.swm
Now, the recovery is very easy:
change to folder were imagex is located. Here
    D:
    cd D:\HDDRecovery\ODDFiles\Tools
    1. format the WINDOWS partition (mostly C:) on the command line with
    format /fs:ntfs /q /V:WINDOWS
    2. Apply recovery image to C: with the command, for my brothers laptop:
    imagex /ref D:\HDDRecovery\SWImg\10656XSP*.swm /apply D:\HDDRecovery\SWImg\10656XSP.swm 2 C:\
the option /ref says imagex the location of the splitted images, expressed with a wildcard
the option /apply says imagex the location of the first image
the number "2" represents the second image inside of the swm-files, here the image for the WINDOWS partition
C:\ says imagex on which partition it should apply the image.
Perhaps your SYSTEM partition has to be reset to, so you have to do the same steps for it. I did it without formating it by:
    imagex /ref D:\HDDRecovery\SWImg\10656XSP*.swm /apply D:\HDDRecovery\SWImg\10656XSP.swm 1 C:\
WARNING: I found out the image number by executing:
    imagex /ref D:\HDDRecovery\SWImg\10656XSP*.swm /apply D:\HDDRecovery\SWImg\10656XSP.swm * C:\
The use of the wildcard (*) led to an error, so the command throw an XML-File plot were I found the correct image number for the partitions.
Now you have write back the factory image to your partition(s). Perhaps it is necessary to reinstall the bootmanager. If you get the error:
    "NO BOOTMGR"
at startup, you have to use the recovery CD a second time. Now, you can choose the option
"Startup Repair" in the same menu where you found the option "Command Prompt".
It will find out that no bootmanager is installed and will repair it.
So, I hope I could help anyone.
Last but not least, this describtion comes without warranty. I am not responsible for any errors or faults or lost data of your HDD. Please backup your important data to e.g. an external storage.

  • HDD recovery from a partition on Portege M300

    Hello
I reinstalled my win xp from another xp cd on a portege notebook m300 and did not burn an hdd recovery of the with the windows that thoshiba provided the computer with, its commen today that you burn your own backup instead of they sending you an original win xp cd. I want a backup cd/recovery cd now and I see that they partioned(or what its called) a seperate 2,5GB hd with the name "HDDRECOVERY".
This resulted that my windows got installed on E: cause it was a 2,5GB partioned HDspace that windows called C: and I could only pick E: to install win xp to and I didnt want to erase the 2,5gb partioned space. I toughed that I somehow could access this 2,5gb HD file but it dosent show in "my conputer" only in the disk managment tools windows have. You cant do anything in this manegmant tool to get it to show in "my computer". I would like to access this space and burn this HDDRecoveryfile so I can get my propriate windows that followed when I bought the computer since the win xp serial that is supplied under this cumputer did not work with my new win xp cd.
ps. How do you install windows on C: if the windows install program thinks C: is the 2,5gb partioned file? I dont want to delete it.

    Hello Andre
The situation with Portege M300 is a little bit complicated but I will try to explain you. Portege M300 (I think just in Germany) is delivered without Recovery DVD and also without Tools & Utilities CD. Both of them can be created by user but only if unit is factory preinstalled. The factory preinstalled unit with factory image contains one tool called Recovery Disc Creator. Using this tool you can create both medias. Without this tool there is no way to make it.
Unfortunately this tool you can not find on Toshiba download page. Because of that you can keep this partition on the HDD but it has no sense at all. You have your own preinstalled OS without Recovery Disc Creator.
    There are two solutions:
    1. You can format whole HDD, create own partitions and install own OS using all stuff you can find on Toshiba download page.
    2. Contact please authorized service partner in your country. They can try to order original recovery DVD for you. If this recovery DVD is not available the service partner can make factory settings again but with costs.
Thats all I know about Portege M300 and preinstalled software. If you have more questions please write again.
    Good luck!

Anyone know how I can solve this so it will work once more?

    Hello Harry
HDD recovery image is screwed up and you will not be able to start it anymore. Only way to install Toshiba recovery image is to use recovery DVD. Have you created one following Toshiba recovery reminder?
    Here is original reminder message:
    +Important INFORMATION+
+Your system is equipped with hard disk recovery system. If you need to repair your computer by restoring it to original factory state, you can do it directly from harddisk (press F8 when you boot your computer, choose "Repair your computer" and follow the menue instructions) or create a bootable Recovery Disc Medium for this purpose.+
+*Toshiba recommends you to create Recovery Disc Medium using the "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator" to ensure that you are able to restore your computer to the original factory installed state, even if your computer gets seriously damaged.*+
