No HDMI signal from apple tv

I recently purchased an ATV (in the USA - I live in Europe) and I notice that ATV doesn't seem to 'connect' to my TV, ie. the tv consistently shows 'no HDMI signal', or will sometimes show part of the relevant ATV menu screen momentarily and then disappear. The remedy is to reboot ATV or disconnect and reconnect the power cable. Does anyone have a remedy for this?

I have the same issue. My Apple TV works when I reboot (unplug/replug) it. But if I attempt to change the resolution, put it on standby, or if I switch to another device and return to it later, I get an intermittent signal. Every few 4-5 seconds the menu/screensaver appears and disappears pretty quickly. If I reboot and watch a movie immediately it works fine.
My TV is a Olevia 542i LCD HDTV.

Anyone have any ideas? Could the AppleTV be defective?

  • Why do i not get sound on my tv when I'm linked with an hdmi cord from apple

I purchased an HDMI cord from apple and was told I would get sound thru my TV.
No sound from tv, only from my computer

Starting pretty much the same time as when the thunderbolt came out, if my memory serves me correctly, it should support sound output as well as video. However your adapter you choose to use also plays a part in this. It has to support sound output, and most of the time you have to choose it as a soud output in the system preferences under the sound section. But if you could go to the apple logo and click about this mac and give us more info on your computer we can assist you better .

  • No signal from Apple TV

I just got the new Apple TV and get no signal from it on my HDTV. I have an older Samsung TX-p3064w which has DVI and not HDMI.
I used a DVI to HDMI cable but get no signal at all - just a blue screen which means the tv received no signal. I know that DVI is not supported, but I was hoping to use this before I had to buy another T.V..
The T.V. can do either 1080i or 480p using DVI. I tried using two cables and no signal.
Does the T.V. have to do 720 in order to give a signal? Is there a certain cable I should try?
Any ideas on why no signal?

I was experiencing the same problem and discovered it is actually a 'handshake' issue. The firmware on the TV needs to be compatible with appletv. I solved it by updating the firmware for my Philips LCD 1080p tv. If you are using an older tv, you probably have to go to the manufacturer's support website to download the updated software on a gig stick and then upload it onto your TV. It should work thereafter. Good luck.

  • Tv Receives No HDMI Signal from Macbook

    Hi Everyone,
Recently I bought an HDMI cable and a 'MiniDisplay Port to HDMI Adapter' from Rocketfish in order to use my Tv as a large monitor. However, when I plug the adapter into the port followed by the HDMI cable my Macbook's [Late 2011 model running with Mountain Lion 10.8.2] screen turns blue for a short moment and the TV seems to acknowlede the input because it immediately pops up a window stating that there is No signal, sometimes also the screen just goes black. Sounds nonsensical yet the tv does acknowledge the Imput by stating that there is no Signal.
Has anyone ever had this happen too ? Is there perhaps a better way to connect a Macbook to a TV ? At this point I am willing to invest a lot more money just to make it work.

    Hi, mtobler!
I have the same problem. The only difference is that I am trying to connect to an external display using Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter. I have tried with two different displays - a TV, Samsung C8000 TV; and TV-Monitor, Samsung SyncMaster P2470HD, both of them with no success. When I connect the adapter the screen turns blue for a second, the TV, just like yours, says 'No signal' and the Mac itself does not find any external displays. I have tried a variety of solutions - resetting PRAM, SMC, but nothing helped.
The AirPlay is not an option for me, because I want to use the Mac with projectors (HDMI adapters are not a solution, because most of the projectors I use are old and have VGA ports only).
I will try connecting it to a projector tomorrow. Let's hope it runs smoothly.

  • Sony Bravia Z5500 will not recognise HDMI output from Apple TV 2nd Gen

After a frustrating time trying every connection possibility - various HDMI cables, all 4 slots, I still had no picture or sound. A week later (living so far from the shop) - I( angrily confronted stafff and told them I had a dud Apple TV. I had spent hours on the phone, firefox, apple and sony sites.
They took it from me and plugged it into a samsung 3d tv and - hey presto - instant picture. I feel like an idiot - and I thought I knew all about technical issues. But this is just annoying me. They looked at this old man and just shook their heads. I am resorting to the hope that someone out there knows the answer ... ??

got a bravia KDL-40WE5W and my appletv 1g never had any problems but if you messed with hdmi settings if thats possible and forced it to use various overscan only accept 1080p or something that could cause problems I guess

  • No HDMI Signal from MBP to Samsung HDTV

I have a late 2013 MBP Retina and trying to hook up my laptop to my Samsung HDTV via HDMI.  I plug the cable in and nothing.  The Mac doesn't even see the input at all.  I have tried a couple different cables and same result.  I know the HDMI port works on the TV as I have my receiver running through it with no problem.  I also know the port on the MBP works because I use an HDMI monitor at my desk just fine.  I don't know what is going on, but this is not working at all.
What gives?  Any help is appreciated.
    Frustrated

Try the Command + F1 keyboard shortcut.

Is your Mac plugged into AC power? If not, do so.
GFx CardStatus can show which video card is in use- http://gfx.io/
I don't know if the Retina intel/integrated card can drive external displays, but the discrete card can.

  • HT4352 Why does my sony tv pick up my apple tv but my new LG has no signal from the HDMI input?

Why does my sony tv pick up my apple tv but my new LG has no signal from the HDMI input?

    Hi midknightsurfer,
    Welcome to the Sony Community!
Please try the following troubleshooting steps.
Check for a firmware update for your router.
Make sure the router is broadcasting the Service Set Identifier < SSID >.
Please try other device/s. Connect them to your network (wired/wireless) then test those units.

  • Apple TV starts, and then TV loses HDMI signal

I moved my ATV 2 from a newer 1080 HDTV to an older 720 tv, and now the ATV starts and displays apple logo and after 30-45 secs I get a message on the tv that the hdmi signal is not detected.
I suspect that the ATV is sending a 1080 signal that the tv can't use, is there a way to reset resolution or to defaults via remote?
    Is it something else?

I ended up reconnecting the ATV2 to the original TV and had to change the resolution to 480. I was then able to see the main screen, and change the res to 720p 60mhz.
It is odd though, the ATV was set to Auto for screen, and displayed during startup, but was unable to display main screen.

  • Since I upgraded my iPod Touch 4G, the HDMI connector to my TV (that I bought from Apple) is no longer supported. Can this be corrected in a short period? Thanks

As stated in the title, since I installed iOS6 on my iPod Touch 4G, the HDMI connector that I bought from Apple is no longer supported/recognized...
A bit of a problem, when you buy an accessory to be able to watch videos on any HDMI enabled TV....
Too bad that nobody checked on it before releasing the OS...
Is there a solution to be released soon (like very soon)????

    Sometime the following works.
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

  • No signal from HDMI...

Hello, I just got a pavilion HPE, 2nd hand from a trusted source  The device came with a Geforce GT 260 (comes with a DVI and HDMI connection). I was trying to connect 2 screens, and there seems to be no signal from the HDMI connection. Is there any chance that this is not a hardware (display adapter/cable) problem? as far as I know all the drivers have been installed... Thanks! -Amit

The model 7,1 is actually the Mid 2010 MacBook and is the only MacBook with a Mini DisplayPort that sends audio along with the video, Here's some Mini DisplayPort to HDMI with audio adapters from Amazon.

sounds more like Bluetooth rather than moue, but w/o knowing w/o posting mac model type/year we... will... not... know... what you have
All computers are personal computers, a PC though is also "non-Apple" in common usage.
Mac also is platform and OS.
Very confused reading what you are trying to tell us.

  • Re: No Signal from Satellite C50D-A-139 HDMI out port

    Hi
I have connected toshiba Satellite C50D-A-139 ( windows 7) via HDMI port ( using hdmi cable) to tv plasma, but on TV screen appears only "there is no signal".
I am sure that HDMI cable works good, becasuse it works with Playstation 3 correctly. I have tried to click "winows button + p" "fn button + F4", but there is no result. nothing happend.
I have also clicked right "mouse button" and choose "screen resolution" but there is also only one screen ( laptop screen) to choose. I tried to click "detect" but nothing happend.
    Please, give me some advice...

I have downloaded all drivers from "slim drivers free". Program scanned my computers and said that "all updates have been installed". I have also downloaded "Hw set up" from Toshiba website. That utility is directly for my laptop.
And now, when I have opened "HW set up", I've chosen icon "display", then - appears dispatch like this: " this bookmark purpose is to choose inside display or outside screener during activating/starting computer".
Then i have chosen "outside display device" - Tv and HDMI. After that, if I restart my laptop, signal is transmitted to my tv and my laptop display turns black. But only video signal is transmitted to Tv, Audio is still coming from notebook. After that I've return to previous settings.
I have also downoladed "Toshiba Satellite A300D HDMI Control Manager Driver 2.0.0.1", I have installed it but it seems that program doesn't work at all.
About FN keys : When for example I click "FN+f5"- touchpad switchs off, when I click "FN+F9/F10, volume goes up or down. But when I click "FN+F4" computer "Thinks" for a while, but nothing is happening
As you can see, I have enabled right HDMI port. Furthermore if I disconnect HDMI Cable from notebook and connect it to my PS3 it automaticly works just fine.
In past I have been connecting hp pavillon (windows vista) to the same tv, and I haven't got any problems.

  • 55TL515U no signal from HDMI inputs

My 55TL515U 3D TV suddenly started showing the "no signal" message from my HDMI inputs.  I have a Motorola cable box on HDMI 1 and a PS3 console on HDMI 2.  No other inputs are used on the TV.  I can connect to the internet and can watch You Tube, Vudu, and Netflix.  Both the cable box and PS3 worked fine and now cannot get signal from either one.  Is there something to be reset before I call for service?

we do not have this model, but model# 65L5400U, and have had the same experience.
when going from one input to another, we would get the no signal notice and a blank screen.  We could turn the tv off and back on, and it would work again.
we also started having a problem with the digital sound output (i think).  we have a sound bar coming directly from the tv, and often will have no sound.
specifically when going from an HD to non HD channel, or when looking thru our cable providers on demand choices, then going back to watch TV.- turn the tv off and back on again, and the sound is back.
we have moved the cord from the tv to the cable box and do not have this problem, and hooked up another TV to test the problem, and didnt have it.
I have this TV thru a rental store, and this is the third one Ive had the same problems with.
has anyone ever spoken to Toshiba about a possible problem with this?  Im running out of alternate options.
