No HDTV Setting in Final Cut Pro 7?

I've been given a couple of EOS 7D clips to edit so I was trying to set up my project for 1920x1080 when I noticed that my pre-sets don't offer that option.  The closest I can get is 1440x1080.  Looking online, I see everyone with an HDTV option in the pulldown but I don't seem to have it.
Um.....help?
Thanks.

Don't know as I don't use it. I use Magic Bullet Grinder to transcode the DSLR files into Pro Res, then ingest the transcoded files into FCP7.
Must be out there somewhere, maybe you can find a Canon support group -
But the basic FCP7 workflow for DSLR clips is:
Easy Set Up not relevant as Easy Set Up is for tape based acquisition.
Transcode DSLR files into editable format ( Pro Res, Pro Res LT, etc).
Import transcoded files into FCP7 project. Make new sequence.
Edit a transcoded file into the timeline of your new sequence, FCP7 will ask if you want your sequence to match your source footage, say yes.
Edit and delver as usual.

Yes, click on your video clip, then go to Effects Control. The box you see to the left of the word Motion activates the wireframes.

  • Need help setting up final cut pro

I'm using a Sony Handycam HDR-SR11 for my videos and I need to know what to set the program up under. please help!!

You need at least FCP 6 to be able to use the camera at all.
AVCHD footage can be transferred using the Log and Transfer window in Final Cut Pro.
Once you have transferred your footage, you can edit using an appropriate Apple
Intermediate Codec or Apple ProRes 422 codec Easy Setup.
You can transfer AVCHD footage to your scratch disk using the Log and Transfer
window in Final Cut Pro. During transfer, you can choose whether the Log and
Transfer window transcodes your footage to the Apple Intermediate Codec or the
    Apple ProRes 422 codec.
Important: Although it is possible to copy AVCHD files directly to your scratch disk,
Final Cut Pro won’t recognize these files. You must use the Log and Transfer window
to transfer and transcode AVCHD footage.
For more information, in the FCP Menu select Help>HD and Broadcast Formats where you will find a section describing how to work with AVCHD.

  • Setting up final cut pro studio after fault

    Hi
I installed final cut pro studio a few months ago but my mac then had to go in for repair. I have since had it back but when trying to run any of the studio applications, when asked to enter my serial number again it says it cannot run application as licensing data is corrupt.
    can anyone help?
    thanks

If it was my mac, I'd archive anything of importance to another drive or cd's or data dvd's, then do a complete erase and install of everything, starting with the OS.
Install OS, run the updates, install applications, run the updates. Repair permissions and reboot after every installation. You'll be stunned at how spiffy your machine will then be.
You can search this forum for how to just trash the corrupt licensing data. But personally, I wouldn't do that. FWIW.

  • How to set up Final Cut Pro, Pro Res and H.264 project

Before I dive into this edit, I want to be sure it will all be compatible.  Here's what I have:
Pro Res HQ422 footag,  imported it into Final Cut Pro.  I also have H.264 footage imported into Final Cut Pro. Will it be possible to mix the H.264 footage on the ProRes timeline?  The ProRes footage was shot on a Canon 7d Mk II with an Atomos Ninja Star.  I have another batch of footage I'd like to use shot on a Canon 6d (full frame) that imports in as H.264.  This project will also use stills in the edit.
    Any suggestions or comments appreciated.
    thanks
    JR

Many of us will tell you it's no big deal to mix your media codecs. Your modern Macintosh can handle the job. Mostly.
Myself, I use workflows that carry over from ye olden days. I transcode everything to my planned release codec before beginning to edit and the timeline is the release medium's codec. In this case, I'd be moving everything to ProRes422 (not HQ) because you can't really gain anything by converting your DSLRs' MPEG4 to ProResHQ. I have really good reasons for this step but my reasons probably are not valid to anyone else.
Whatever advice you receive here, you must design and conduct some useful tests to determine if said advice is any good for your workflow and machine's specs. Know what your release medium is going to be; how high does the editing, rendering, and sharing quality need to be before you hit the ceiling?

  • What compression to use when Exporting HD video from final cut pro PAL setting

    Hi there
I'm trying to export my HD video from Final cut Pro so that I can edit it in DVD studio Pro. I initially exported it on H.264 setting however it then gives me the message 'NTSC assets cannot be imported into PAL projects' It was edited with PAL setting so I think it must be the conversion but i'm not sure which option to use.....been really struggling to get the 1 hour footage under 4.5gb without losing too much quality...
    Any advice greatly appreciated!
    thanks

    Just to add two suggestions.
    1) Consider putting your four movies on two disks.
    2) Bring your movies into Compressor and duplicate the stock DVD setting. In the Encoding pane of the Inspector, select a CBR and dial it back to around 6.2 to 6.5 Mbs. In Preview mark a small section and submit; you'll get 2 elementary streams, with m2v and AC3 extensions. Bring that into DVDSP and evaluate results. Adjust as necessary. (This is to avoid waiting out very long encodes and then having to start again from scratch if you get disappointing results.)

    Hi,
      1. Make sure you have the camera connected via Firewire (i link)
    2. The Camera is turned to "play" and, if you are capturing HDV,  in the camera menu, it is set to i link "OFF"

What's the best project setting in Final Cut Studio 2 for iPhone 4S 1080p footage?

    Hi,
Convert your clips to Pro Res (LT if you have FCP7) with MPEG streamclip or similar and import to FCP.
Drag the first clip to the timeline and click ""yes" on the message that asks if you want to "change sequence settings to match clip settings". You're all set to edit.

  • What is the recommended set up for Final Cut Pro re: Scratch Disks etc

What is the recommended set up for Final Cut Pro with regards to Scratch Disk etc.
I have a lot of projects and at the moment they are all over the place on various external HDDs etc.
I just bought a new Firewire 800 External HDD and want to get everything straight but I'm not quite sure where to start...
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thank You

Media Manager (available from the File menu bar item) will consolidate all elements of your project together with a linked copy of the project file to a single folder in a location of your choice. There are various options to leave out unused footage, include handles etc. Safest way is to copy the files. Delete the originals when you are sure the copy works.
The user manual has a detailed description of how MM works.

  • Final Cut Pro-ADVC110 set up capture 16:9

I was wondering if anyone new how to properly set up the ADVC110 to be recognized by Final Cut Pro.
And after recognized how would I initiate it to record/capture in 16:9.
Thanks in advance any information/suggestions is appreciated.

Ok i've set up the ADVC110 for NTSC and I've set it up to "Non-Controllable Device" for device control. Since i want 16:9 widescreen to be my final product what would I have to do to get those results. I'm looking to get 16:9 result so when I upload to youtube I won't get too much of the black bars.
For Capture/Input can I set it to DV NTSC 48 kHz Anamorphic. *The options given for capture/input can be seen here: http://i29.tinypic.com/30tl4px.png *

  • Easy set Up for Cannon HV30 & Final Cut Pro

What is the proper set up, for the Cannon HV30 and final Cut Pro 7. I typically shoot at 30P,
since this is a Cannon Product I set the rate at 29.97, and firewire basic. Here is my confusion, do I select the 1080i60 setting or use 1080p30 setting since I set my camcorder to Progressive. I have seen the comment that the camcorder shoots the video in a 60i (interlaced wrapper) does this mean that I first set up my sequence as 1080i60, then send my footage to compressor to change it to progressive?

    There's Cannon Beach, Oregon.
