No headphones setting in Vista!

What can I do!
When I select 2 speakers in sound settings, all my games reset to 2 speaker mode on every startup.
Older games like Counter-Strike .6 that don't let you set it manually also output in 2 speaker mode. Which results in noises focused left and right very unnaturally.
Needless to say how do I use headphones properly in Vista..

I'm missing the headphones setting too. Using the front speakers setup instead of headphones placement resulted in terrible aural image. There is a headphones setting in Creatives Console but it'sis not enough. Windows fooled about 2.0 setup and thus it is using wrong software matrixing in games and multimedia players.
Not to mention i'm waiting for OpenAL be fixed for nowadays common Vista X64 + 8GB RAM
Still no OpenAL, no headphones setting, no AC3 decoder, nothing! Moreover it do not support 96khz rates in stereo as the specifications said. Just an usual $10 plain stereo card instead of Elite Pro, my worst buy ever.

I use a Mac 2003 FW800 MDD desktop with dual 1.25 GHz processors, 2 GB memory, and a native Bluetooth card installed. I use OS10.4.11. The FW800 was the only MDD that could use Bluetooth natively, as an optional installation. I use the installed Bluetooth to run an Apple Aluminum Keyboard, and would like to use it with a new (2010) Samsung SBH-600 Bluetooth Headphone set, but, although the set will pair with the computer, and is recognized in both the System Profiler, and the Bluetooth section of System Preferences, it is not recognized in the Sound preferences section of System Preferences as either an Input or Output device. Only the installed external Apple speakers are recognized. I'd like to know if there is anything that can be done to make the Bluetooth system installed work with these headphones - either something that can be changed in the computer settings, or an added external Bluetooth device with different Bluetooth capabilities.

It it may be that you are running either an outdated BT software or the firmware of the card is not up to date.
What version is your BT software? Is it later than 1.5?

Along with the firmware, it is likely that the headphones require a later BT revision than you are running. The headphones need rev.2.
You may need to move to Leopard for support.

It also may be that headphone support is limited to iChat or the like in Tiger.....
If you go to a USB BT dongle, D-Link often gets the nod as having native compatibility in OS X.

IPhone stuck on Headphone Setting

After using the headphones, my iPhone is now stuck on the headphone setting. It does not allow any sounds to come through it without the headphones connected. I tried powering off & resetting.
Any other suggestions? I really don't want to restore & lose all my data.

I've done that over & over, as it fixed the problem before.
I just minutes ago decided to reset some of the ipod settings... setting the EQ to something different worked. Weird. But I now can use it earbud free!

Have you tried power off/on? Hold the sleep/power button until the red slider appears and slide to power off. Wait 10-15 minutes and then hold the button until it powers up again. Often a simple power cycle clears faults.

Tried to set up Vista via Bootcamp.....

Tried to set up Vista via Bootcamp, Macbook Pro (06) now only boots in Vista (option on boot doesn't help) which will not connect to internet. Now, I just want my Mac back. There's a reason I no longer own a PC. Should have never looked back!
Please help me just get rid of this mess and get back on OS X.

Okay, I just got the computer and haven’t done anything with it, so I guess I didn’t see any reason to do any backup. I have the Mac OS X install discs, a Lion disc, and of course this silly Vista disc.
When I got the computer, it was up and running, but I don’t even know if it had the Lion installed or not (may have still been whatever it had before...Leopard???).
I found some directions on the web to guide me through setting up Vista via bootcamp. I followed those as well as I could, although there were small differences. However, it was generally right...got Vista installed, anyway.
The first thing I noticed was Vista wouldn’t take me to the web. Then I started wondering how to get back to the Mac side. Read that if I hold the Option key while booting, I’d have the option to open on either side. That trick doesn’t work for me. When I do that, all I get is a little picture of a padlock with a space underneath to type in a password (I assume). I don’t know what to put there, since I’ve not set up any password on the computer...maybe it’s for something else???
I’ve tried the C at start up, D at startup, and now Command-R, they all seem to get me the same thing- Windows boot manager. It says to choose an operating system to start...but then only has Microsoft Windows Vista as an option.
Uhhh, is there anyway to just wipe this thing out or something, so I can start over. I don’t have anything I need to worry about losing...I don’t guess. Only had the computer a day or so. Or is there something else I should be worrying about.

Two headphone set up

I have an Apogee Duet using with Logic Express 9. A friend and I are planning on doing some recording. I was wondering if anyone had any idea about how to have a two headphone set up? Though this is only an informal recording session, I would still like to record to a click track. We will use acoustic guitars and condenser mics, so using the monitors to hear the click is not an option.

I know this shows as solved, but wanted to add a comment.
A friend and I occasionally jam together and I use a 1/8 inch y adaptor to go to 2 headphones. Thats cheap but of course we do not have individual control over headphone volume but has not been a problem since we can get a good mix in logic.

AT&T cannot and will not do anything, they do not provide support for iPhones, Apple does.
The issue is not with the iPhone or iOS if you've reset network settings and tried forgetting the Wi-Fi Network, it is specific to the network.
Check the settings on the router, try disabling the security settings first... that will clarify the issue is not with the device but rather the Network.

Using 2 headphone sets on same macbook pro

I have 2 headphone sets from Logitech, one wireless (USB hub) and other one wired, I am inquiring wether its possible to use both headsets together at the same time to watch movie, DvD for me and my friend cause audio quality amaizing abd sound clear, even if I need to download software enabling me to use both.

X-Fi Headphone sett

What is with the headphone setting on the X-Fi? It sounds terrible, so like muffled. Dunno who in there mind would want to listen on that setting!

I think I know what you are talking about. I made the very same experience with my HD580.
As soon as I switched to CMSS-3D the HD580 sounded muffled.
But: I have the solution: The problem lies in the weak power of the line output of the X-FI (I do not blame the card since it is a line output and not a headphone output) and the 0 foot cable of the HD580. Just using a 3 foot cable made a HUGE difference. If you use a headamp the muffled effect is completely gone

You're right. The HD 580s should not be used unamped. The X-fi simply doesn't deli'ver enough juice for them to come ali've. Unamped HD 555s or 595s are a much better choice.

No headphones in Windows Vista/7

This has been bugging me for a long time now and it's time to ask.
My Windows 7 speaker setup doesn't include an option for headphones:
Using onboard audio will allow me to choose Headphones. ?Using the same Creative driver under Windows XP will allow me to choose headphones. ?But under Vista and 7, the headphones option is missing.
I can still set CCL to Headphones, but I somehow feel that using this in combination with the Stereo setting under the Windows Speaker Setup is not optimal and that I'm missing out on some features that are offered by purchasing and using the X-Fi

So Stereo is the correct selection for headphonesThat's confusing, as there is still a selection for headphones in the CCL. The CCL seems to stay in sync with whichever speaker selection I'm making in the Windows 7 Speaker Setup, except when I have Headphones selected as my speakers in CCL.
For example, let's say I open CCL and set my speakers to 5.. If I open the Windows 7 Speaker Setup, no matter what it was previously set to, it is now set to 5.. If I go back to Windows Speaker Setup and change this to 7., Windows Speaker Setup is changed to 7.. I can also make these changes in the Windows Speaker Setup and they will also be changed in CCL...with an exception or two.
If I again go back to CCL and change my speakers to Headphones, Windows Speaker Setup will be set to Stereo. From this point, I can change Windows Speaker Setup to any of the other selections listed, but once CCL is set to Headphones, it will not change along with the Windows Speaker Setup.
Now, let's say I have CCL set to 5., but I want to change my speaker setup through Windows Speaker Setup. So I go there and change Windows Speaker Setup from 5. to Stereo. Back in CCL, my speaker setup has been changed from 5. to 2/2., not Headphones...
This is where I'm confused. What is the purpose of the Headphones selection in CCL and why would I choose that over 2/2. when I am using headphonesWhy does the Creative driver not allow for an option of headphones in the Windows Speaker setup. What is shown there is entirely dependent upon the sound driver. Why, when set to Headphones, does the CCL no longer recognize changes made to the Windows Speaker Setup
And more importantly, what is the correct settingI don't feel like I'm getting all that I can get out of this card. Configuring games is almost a crap shoot as some games seem to give better directional audio when set to 5., while others give better directional audio when set to headphones.
In older Source engine games(pre-L4D), when you launch them they detect the Windows Speaker settings and adjust accordingly. So in my case, in combination with ALchemy and CMSS, when I fire up, say, TF2, the Source engine detects my audio as 5., even though Windows Speaker Setup is set to Stereo and CCL is set to Headphones. If I remove TF2 from the list of ALchemy enabled games, it only detects 2/2.. But Windows Speaker Setup is still set to stereo and CCL is still set to Headphones. I guess ALchemy is doing the job of providing surround support here, thus the 5. selection...but the Source engine also provides an option for headphones. I can set it this way when I launch the game, but it's forced back to 5. with every subsequent launch, due to detection of Windows speaker settings. I can also force the headphone selection through a configuration file that runs every time the game is started. But if the X-Fi driver provided for an option of headphones, it would just detect headphones and I'd be on my way...
But with the game set to 5., there is a world of difference in sound as opposed to when it's set to headphones. In my opinion, the 5. selection is far superior. But why is 5. a superior selection to headphones when I am actually using headphonesMaybe that's specific to the Source engine... Maybe I'm supposed to be setting my games to 5. It's very confusing and I haven't been able to come across much Creative documentation, let alone one that would give me a clear and definiti've answer.
I guess I'm just confused. Each game seems to perform differently with different settings. In some games, a 5. setting will sound marvelous and I'm totally immersed. In other games, a 5. setting will make all the sounds sound "fabricated". I wish I could describe it better than that, but to keep it simple, sometimes 5. sounds amazing while at other times it doesn't work right.
How am I supposed to get the most out of this X-FiI've read all the stickies here, I've read tons of stuff on other boards, I've gone through all the tutorials here on Creative's site... There is conflicting information all over the place, even on Creative's own site. I would just like to know how I am supposed to go about setting this up. I've had it for almost two years now and I've been happy so far, but the Windows 7 driver from June seems to be lacking the proper functionality for me to continue using the card. I get mixed results in every game. If it comes down to it, I don't mind at all having to change settings per game... I'd just like to know which settings need to be set to what.
If an option for headphones doesn't exist in Windows Speaker Setup, what are the proper CCL and in-game settings I need to useI only use headphones, like a lot of gamers. Since this card is specifically tailored for gamers, why would an option for headphones not be available in Windows Speaker SetupWill this be corrected in future driver releases or is the plan to move forward with only a selection of Stereo

Multiple headphone sets not working?

I just recently received a replacement iPod Nano because my last one glitched itself and wouldn't respond to anything a consultant had me do. It's worked great since I got it. The last time I listened to it was Friday [the 6th], and the headphones worked just fine. Today [the 8th] I went to listen to it, and sound only came out of the left speaker. At first, I thought that it was only the headphones, and I just needed a new pair. Well, I went to use another pair I had [for an Mp3 player] and once again, sound came out through just the left speaker. That's two sets that would not work for the right headphone speaker. Could anything be wrong inside this iPod? Is there anything I can do to fix it? I would rather not have to have it replaced, since this IS a replacement iPod.

Your headphone jack in the iPod is broken, you will need to get it replaced. You don't wrap your headphone cord around your iPod while it is plugged in, do you?

Setting Up Vista Login

Hi. I know that I can get Vista to login to OS X server. For the OS X clients I have, their home directories sync to the network, since they are setup as Mobile Accounts. Can I make the Vista home directory sync with the server just like OS X? I basically want PHDs for the Vista clients. Thanks!

If all you want is command-line access (no GUI), or command-line access plus X clients (xterm, etc.), then you need to enable Remote Login in System Preferences > Sharing > Services, and you need to know the IP-address of your machine. If you have a router at home, then you need to set up port forwarding on the router.
Once you've set these up, then you should be able to use an SSH client (ssh on OS X, UNIX, and Linux, PuTTY on Windows) to connect to an OS X command line shell on your home machine; and you can use sftp (from an OS X, UNIX, or Linux machine) to transfer files to and from your home machine.
There's no telnet server on OS X by default, and you probably don't really want one -- it's not a very secure protocol. ssh is much better.

Red light at headphone socket under Vista Ultimate

I plug headphone into Headphone socket but sound still comes out from speakers. I notice there is a red light in headphone socket. This problem only happens when I use Vista Ultimate by boot camp . In Leopard OS that's fine. Headphone works well. I search the website and someone said use toothpick to reset the socket, so I tried but no lucky. Can anyone help me? Is microsoft did it on purpose for our new switchers from Vista to OS? LOL

I recently received an Apple MacBook Pro Mid 2009 model which is brand new to replace the Late 2008 model. It is possible to run Windows on the Mac using an Apple technology called "BootCamp". Apple supplies the drivers required by Windows for all of the hardware in the laptop including the sound drivers. On this model, the sound chip is supplied by Cirrus Logic and is a CS4206. The problem that I as well as many other Apple users with these new laptops who also run Windows is that our sound volume coming from the onboard speaker is not nearly as loud as when we are running Mac OSX with is the original operating system. There is also a red light coming from the headphone jack indicating that the optical output is always on. Once again if you could please route this to the right people. There must be someone at Cirrus Logic with some knowledge of this.

Audigy 4 Pro - Traktor - Headphone set

Hi,
Can somebody please help me.
I've treated my self to a new audigy 4 pro, but cannot seem to configure Traktor dj studio so that I can monitor my cue points using the headphone socket.
Whichever way I set up the headphones always plays the main source only ie the same as my speakers.
Surely you should be able to select which channel the headphones monitor ?
