No help section in elements 11 program

There seems to be no help section in my elements 11 program.

Well, you could check to see if there's a problem with your web browser--maybe trying setting a different one as the default, or you could just download the help files in PDF form and not have to worry about going online:

  • HELP!! - Element 9 - Program always get stuck while creating thumbmail :(

    Just bought Photoshop Element 9.0 as I wanted something better than Picasa.
    1. I installed it, created a catalog
    2. Each time I try to import pictures into this catalog, it does read the 50000 pictures I have properly but the thumbmail never finishes. I looked at the size of the catalog thumbmail and it stopped growing so it seems really stuck.
    I tried to re-create the catablog, create smaller catalogs (the real small ones do work!) but as soon as more than 25000+ pictures need to be important, the thumbmail issue re-appear.... So frustrating.
    Any clue?
    I am using Win 7 ultimate, plenty of HD, Intel 4 core processor, 4 GB DDR3 RAM

    I don't have specific experiance with the issue you face but I do have a couple of recommendations:
    1) Start with a new catalog
    2) Turn all auto-analysis options off, exit, and restart the organizer
    3) Try to import again
    If this doesn't work, do the above steps but import in batches.
    Additionally, you could try to update the thumbnails manually after the organizer seems to have stopped:
    1) Exit the organizer and restart after it seems to be stuck.
    2) Select some of the photos which do not have the thumbnail updated.
    3) Right click.  There should be an option to update thumbnails.  Select this and see what happens.
    I don't know if any of the above steps will help but I do know that auto-analysis will also stop after processing a few thousand photos.

    Hmm, that is very strange. I agree with MichelB that it's probably best just to get the PDF, but you can try going to your username>library>preferences and deleting:
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 settings
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 paths
    To see the library, click the Go menu in the Finder and hold down the option key and it will appear below the little house for your user account. While you're in there it wouldn't be a bad idea to go to the Saved Application States folder and delete anything pertaining to PSE.
    Repair permissions and see if that does it.

    Be grateful for your help with Photoshop Elements which I have been using for several years.  Does Elements need to have access to ‘My Pictures’ on Windows as when I remove Photos from ‘My Pictures’, Elements later, when backing up, gives a message that it is unable to ‘reconnect’ to the same picture on elements.  On other occasions when removing a photo from Elements catalogue I also get a similar message when backing up saying ‘unable to reconnect’.  1. Is there a relationship between Elements and My Pictures and is Elements dependant on    the Windows ‘My Pictures’? 2. Why does some photos in Elements in some cases cause them to multiply e.g. double; triple; quadruple; and on occasions even more?  Is there something I need to do to stop this or an easy way I can remove the multiples without spending hours doing it manually one by one?  Am I doing something wrong? My O/S is Windows XP SP2 and windows Vista on my Laptop.  I have been using Elements 5 and have just purchased Photoshop Elements 8.0. (Upgrade) and about to install it. Be grateful for any advice as I do enjoy using the program if only I can resolve this issue.  I am not a PC wiz and mainly use Elements to catalogue photos from which I compile collections and from them slide shows with music.  Any advice appreciated Sonny.t PS Have tried to post this previously but without success so hoping to see message appear and a +response

    The organizer doesn't care where you send your photos when you download them via the downloader or where they happen to be when you first bring them in if you use the Get Photos command, but once your pics are in the Organizer, you *must* move them from within organizer or it can't find them. You don't have to use My Pictures at all if you don't want to, but regardless of the folder where you put your photos, if you want them someplace else, you use organizer to do it.

    hello, normally such issues are caused by a firewall/security software which doesn't recognize & therefore blocks new firefox versions. please try to remove all program rules for firefox in your firewall and let it detect the program again: [[Fix problems connecting to websites after updating Firefox]]

    I successfully downloaded the latest version but I cannot connect to the internet. I get a "cannot find the proxy server" prompt. I have followed the advice in the help section but nothing seems to work.

    You can check20the connection settings here:
    *Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection > Settings
    If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select "No Proxy" if the default "Use the system proxy settings" setting doesn't work.

    Trying to Edit photos.  Click on Edit icon and I get the Message " Attempt to Access invalid address".  Click OK get message "Unable to connect to editor application.

  • Help menu disconnects Elements 8

    Hi, rather than suffer with the problem I decided to find out what I can do about it, and hope you can help me. I have Elements 8 on mac. When I click on HELP and the drop down menu shows up, I click on one of the subjects and the program disconnects. I get a error message to send to Apple but I don't think it's an Apple problem but an Elements problem.
    I should say, that when I first loaded the Elements 8 program it used to do the same thing. I would open the program. Open a photo and it would disconnect. No error message to send. I would restart and it would work fine. It did this for a while then a few months ago stopped and it works fine now. A few days ago I decided to check something on the Help menu and have the above problem.

    Sorry for the delay in response. I could not find the response button at the forum. Thank you for responding. I resolved the problem with the help of Elements Village. It was only the Help menu that was causing the problem. So far the other menu options I needed were working fine. And I am able to open photos through Bridge and edit the pics.

    I'd try resetting the pse 11 preferences.
    In the pse 11 editor Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor (Edit)>Preferences>General, click on Reset Preferences on Next launch
    and then restart the pse 11 editor.

    I cannot open some pdf files online with Reader XI (like sample forms in Help section or IRS.gov or credit card statements).  I have uninstalled Reader XI, cleaned and reinstalled.  I have no problem right-clicking and downloading and then viewing the files.  No problem viewing acrobat files.  I'm runnnig Windows 7,  IE9.     I can acces them through Chrome.

    RESOLVED
    I found two suspect programs that were installed within the last 48-hrs that may have caused the problem
    1) - Libre Office - latest update.  This is a fork of Open Office.  (unlikely)
    2) - ManyCam video manipulation software  (likely)
    Following info here, I opted to try to open an Adobe PDF file that was on my hard drive.  When I did, it refused and IE10 gave me an ActiveX error (AHA!!).   When I checked the installation of ManyCam, it had installed a version of DirectX that may have over-written the resident versions or disabled them somehow.
    I uninstalled ManyCam but left Libre Office's update in place, then I ran a system restore from a point 24-hrs before the installations.
    This resolved the problem 100%.
    So, the suggestion here is that there may be one or more program in the wild that is interupting the ActiveX or DirectX systems.  They may be running or installing an older version.  In this case it appears the handlers were broken.
    Once the system restore had completed I was able to open Adobe PDF files within my IE10 browser from the Internet as well as open PDF files from my hard drive.
    Note that this same issue also clearned up a problem I was having with the Comodo Dragon web browser, which is a fork of the Chrome project.  Once I eliminated the suspect program and ran the system restore all was well.  In the instance of the Comodo browser it was unable to open or reach anything - dead white screen below the menu bar.
    So my suggestion would be to take an inventory of recent program installations, remove/uninstall them, run system restore from a date before the suspect programs were added, and see what happens.  In my case that fixed the problem.

    Hello to everybody! My name is Tanya, Im a new member of Adobe Forums. Recently I started having this issue with my Photoshop Elements 8 - when i try to open program or open picture with this program to edit, the pop up message from Microsoft Windows comes up saying that "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." And than i just close that pop up message and nothing happens.
    When you open Photoshop Elements 8 program it has 2 buttons ORGANIZE and EDIT. I can access Organize one, but i can't access Edit one. I been having Elements 8 over year and a half now, and this issue occured about 2 weeks ago. I alredy tryed to uninstall and reinstall the program, and i still have the same issue. Can you please HELP me and give any ideas of how solving this problem. Thanks!!!

    Try resetting Editor preferences. Hold down Ctrl+Alt+Shift as you click on Edit from the screen. You should be prompted whether you want to delete the Editor settings. You do. Click on Yes and proceed. See if that helps ? Thanks.

    It just blows me away how cool this whole concept is but like most programs and apps out there, it's often created by people that know so much more than someone like myself who loves music and just wants to listen and have functionality features that don't require hours of searching to find out how to use it.
    You all have a very difficult task in trying to keep an audience and be compatible with so many devices and scenarios.
    I am a reasonably intelligent person and consider myself  to be capable and a moderate user of technology.
    So I don't understand why it should take me over an hour to find basic instructional overview of this service. It is either over simplified or too complicated. There doesn't seem to be straight forward instruction.Sort of like you have done on this Beta page but in paragraph form. It wastes so much time clicking and choosing titles of solutions. I was bombarded on my iphone with facebook and twitter things without options. Not so bad on my iPad and less so on my PC. But I digress.
    It would be GREAT to have a page that gives you a quick shot and general idea of the options available to users. A bIG overview, let us know that it looks and operates differently on different devices, what you can and can't do on each device {updated as you add features}, maybe a comparisson chart too. I love this stuff but I don't have time to sort thru drop downs and forums that are not always relevant. It's your product. I love it now tell me simply and straight forward here's what we offer and our price points, here's what it's gonna look like, these are the current limitations but here's what we are working on..etc.. This could be done in one page and take a few minutes to read. It took me the last few hours to find some but not all of these simple answers. Please step up.
    Pretend you are having to tell your Aunt about it and she has no clue but really wants to use and enjoy your product with the least amount of hassle. Music makes life better. I haven't been able to really enjoy it again until I found Spotify.
    IMHO, who would want a star rating sysyem above the ability to simply move tracks around to make a better playlist and truly enjoy what and how they listen to music. All the other features, debatably so, can come after some basic functionality and simple point by point instruction.

  • How do I transfer video clips from iPhoto to iDVD? I followed the instructions in the help section but it did not work.

    I would like to make a DVD from video clips I took of my Grandchildren. I went to the help section and it stated to click on the video clip, then click 'share' and choose 'send to iDVD'. That option was not available on the share button. How to I transfer to iDVD. Thanks for any help.

    Do you plan to put each video clip in iDVD to be playes separately?  If so then here's how:
    1 - open iDVD and select your theme. 
    2 - click on the Media button at the bottom right and then on the Photo button at the top.
    3 - in the search window type in ".mov" (or the extension of the video clips you plan to use).
    4 - all of the video clips with the extension you entered will be displayed and you can drag them into the menu area at the left. 
    Another way would be to put all of the video clips in an Album and click on that album to view and drag the clips:
    Remember, the order that they are added to the menu will be the order that the buttons will highlight when you scroll thru the buttons with a DVD player remote.
    This will give you a menu with a separate button for each video clip (up to 12 in a menu with some themes).
    If you want to play all of the clips one after another you could create a slideshow in iDVD with the "+" button at the bottom and drag the video clips into the slideshow as you would still photos.  Set the slide duration to anything but manual and don't apply any transition.
    That will let you play all of the clips sequentially.
