No History in Safari on my iPAD

For some strange reason when I go to history in Safari nothing is recorded yet on my iPHONE and iMAC it appears. Anyone have any ideas?

Tap the + sign in the upper right corner of the Safari Toolbar. Them look for the word "Private" in the lower left portion of the screen. Tap "Private" to turn off private browsing and your history will be retained again.

  • How can I get rid of search history in Safari on my iPad?

When I highlight one to delete, the search kicks in. How can I get rid of the history?

You can go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, cookies and data and then delete every bookmark and that should clear it temporarily, but it will only be temporary. As soon as you starting using the search again, then suggestions will appear again.
I think that I may have misread your question - if you want to clear all of the history - use the Clear History button in the upper right corner of the History window. You cannot delete one item at a time.

  • When I use Safari on my iPad 1/4 of the left side of the screen is grey. It seeme devoted to "shared links", "reading list", or "History". I would like to get rid of that. How can I do it?

When I use Safari on my iPad 2, more than 1/4 of the left side of the screen is used for "shared links", "reading list", or "History". I would like to hide that. How do I do that?

Tap the Book icon seen left of the address box.
    Best.

  • I cannot sign into my yahoo mail through safari on my iPad (3rd generation). It doesn't tell me if its an error or something. I just can't sign in, in general. Please help, thanks!

Recently I have not been able to sign into my yahoo email through safari on my iPad. I have a 3rd generation iPad. I have tried clearing history, cookies and data and rebooted my iPad, but none of these worked. After entering yahoo, I go straight to "sign in" it then brings me to the page where I can sign in. After entering my details, I press the "sign in button" but nothing happens. The "sign in"button/icon isn't like what it used to be. By this I mean.. Before when im signing the icon is more of an opaque colour, but recently it will be like something is covering the word "sign in" so the colour is more faint. This is actually probably why I can't sign in. Can anyone help me fix this problem? Much help will be appreciated!

By the way, the safari setting is: private browsing off and accept cookies from visited. Much help is appreciated!

  • I can no longer access Safari on my ipad. I get the error:the operation couldn't be completed. Cannot allocate memory. Help please!

I am not able to access Safari on my ipad. I get the error message: The operation couldn't be completed. Cannot allocate memory. Can anyone help please??

    Try this first.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If that doesn't work, reboot the iPad - or quit all apps and restart.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit all apps completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.

  • HT204245 Safari issue on iPad.

I Am facing an issue where all urls gets redirect to some malicious website and opens iTunes. It is similar to what is mentioned in security updates in CVE-2014-8840. is someone else facing similar issue? Please help if there is a solution.

Try doing the following and see if it still happens :
    - clear Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear History And Website Data
    - close Safari via the iPad’s taskbar : double-click the home button to open the taskbar and then swipe or drag the Safari app's 'screen' up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
    - soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Is there a way to recover deleted history for Safari on an iPad2?

Is there a way to recover deleted history for Safari on an iPad2?

If it was on your iPad when you last backed up then you can try restoring to that backup - you will need to restore the whole iPad, you can't just restore a single app. Otherwise no, you can't recover it

  • I am unable to deleat history since I updated my ipad to iOS 7. The clear button is not working, any ideas please?

I am unable to clear my browsing history in safari since I updated to ios7. The clear button is greyed out. Any subsections please?

If it is one year old minus one day it is still under warranty. If it is more than a year since you purchased it then yes, the warranty has expired.
Millions of iPads have been sold. Most continue to function long after their warranty has expired. Check the many requests about updating the iOS on the original iPad on these forums and you'll see that there are many iPads still working after three years. My iPad 2, which I had for over two years is still working well for my son in law who took it over from me when I bought a new one.
Given that there will always be a few iPads that fail early. Most of those will be covered under warranty. But some will fail after the warranty has expired and before the owner expected it to. I'm sorry to hear that you are in this category. Take your iPad to an Apple store and have it looked at. They will provide you with alternatives, one of which is to purchase a like model to the one that failed at a discount. You can then know your options and make the best choice for you.

  • Every time I launch Safari on my iPad there are about 5 or 6 tabs load ed with Wikipedia searches. I am the only one using the iPad so I know it's not me searching for this. Anyone else have this problem and if so how do I turn it off?! Thanks!

Can anyone help? This is getting frustrating!

Have you closed the tabs ? Re-opening Safari will open it with the same tabs that were open on it the last time that you used it.
You can clear Safari's history via Settings > Safari > Clear History (and possibly Clear Cookies And Data), and then close Safari via the iPad's taskbar : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
When you re-open it there shouldn't be any open tabs.

  • HT1677 Clear History in Safari

Does clearing the history in Safari have any effect on the speed with which web pages are loaded?

Not so much the history, but clearing cookies and data can help. If you Safari is loading pages slowly try clearing the cookies and data, close Safari and then reboot the iPad. That might help.
To close Safari, tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the Safari icon. Tap the home button twice.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • When in safari on my ipad I get the home screen of safari from my iMac

When in safari on my ipad I get the home screen of safari from my iMac this has only just start to happen can anyone tell why, and how do I prevent it.
    Thanks

Safari on the iPad doesn't have a homescreen setting, unless you cleared it's history and cache via Settings > Safari it will re-open the last set of tabs that you had open in it, or if you created a homescreen shortcut for a particular page then tapping on that will always open it on that page

  • How do I clear the bookmarks and history on safari with ios 7 system?

I'm using safari on my ipad with ios 7.02 operating system.  I've searched for answers in several places but no one seems to know how to clear the bookmarks and history on safari which show up below the address bar when you type in a new website address.  Does anyone know how to clear this out?  I've searched several places and others seem to have the same problem.

Click on the bookmark icon > Edit > Create a New Folder and call it whatever you want then
Settings > Safari > Favorites > select the new empty folder you just created.
    To clear the history:
Settings > Safari > Clear History
    or
In Safari click the bookmark icon > History > Clear
