No Home for this CC Desktop App User

The Home page does not display in my CC desktop application. When I click on Home it just keeps spinning and spinning but never brings up the Home page. All of the other tabs work correctly. Any ideas as to why the Home page won't load? It's supposed to display The Activity Stream. Not really crucial but it should still work. It's now been trying to load for 2 minutes so I'm thinking it's not going to load or it's really, really slow. Thanks!

Is there a way for the CC desktop app to recognize already installed software? Initially the CC app had all my installed software listed but since one of the patches it no longer knows what I have installed. I can still use everything but I'm worried I will encounter issues if I am unable to change this situation. I have already looked through multiple discussions looking for an answer so if I have missed the solution my bad.

You would have to run teh Cleaner tool and reinstal lfrom scratch. Something botched your installer database.

EDMS: 'Missing authorization for this functionality' when searching user

Hi,
I've activated ALC authorization for DMS. In EDMS, when trying to add an user to a DIR with search function an error occurres as below.
'Missing authorization for this functionality'
BTW, the user has contains SAP_ALL profile. It can't be any authorization reasons.

authorization checks will not happen if the search help from sap-gui.I
think the problem is releted to missing implementation of "check
function module" from your side. If the search help is linked to a
"master data table" (type A) a check function must be implemented to
check the permission of the user.

Required Oracle FND tables for Discoverer Install (Oracle App user)

Hi does anyone know of set documentation or, via SQL Trace, which existing tables Discoverer looks for when setting up an EUL? For instance, our install requires you select the Oracle Apps User Schema and put in the password for that schema where your FND tables reside.
Assuming some are missing in our current setup, what would be required in order for Discoverer to work in conjunction with the Oracle applications roles and responsibilities, etc.
I found this list in Discoverer documentation and confirmed I know have that setup correctly with proper grants, etc.. The EUL is created but does return an error of "Table or View does not Exist" which can be passed over and you can proceed into the EUL - but there is an error upon logging into EUL.

I have confirmed that the Discoverer Administrator Responsibility has Administration, Desktop & Plus privelages.
Furthermore, the account I am trying to login as - DSCADMIN has those permissions and is assigned that responsibility as well.
It should be noted that when logging into the EUL as the DSCADMIN account, it prompts me to create a new EUL as one does not exist....however under the EUL ADMIN account (where the EUL was created), it recognizes the EUL since it is the owner.
Am I missing something further - I've been through the documentation several times and can't figure this out - I have continually made progress but then hit a speed bump each time.
It should also be noted that DSCADMIN is a database user schema account and also an Apps user as well - but this is how it was setup in our old enviornment so I wouldn't think this would make a difference.

I just discovered that with a very simple native extension method, I can enable full screen mode for AIR Mac Desktop Applications.
This gets you the full screen icon in the top right, and it works perfectly with no changes to my code. (Obviously only works on Lion and above, since this is a Lion feature)

RUM for Creative Cloud Desktop App

We are currently using the RemoteUpdateManager to update our installed versions on Win7 computers which works great using just the "RemoteUpdateManager --channelIds=" however it is not updating the Desktop App. How can we include this in the auto-update? It requires admin permissions to update which the users don't have and we're finding that if we're running a version behind things stop synching properly. We would like this to update automatically along with the rest of the CC apps.

I completely agree that the entire process should be under one simplified update method. Saying you can't do it is not accurate. Your company choosing not to do it is much more accurate. If you aren't willing to unify the installation process, allow us to download .pkg files of the offending updates and let us push them out via ARD or the like. Forcing us to suffer through the manual station by station update of the convoluted desktop app, Acrobat updates etc. is an embarrassment at this point. Please just fix it and stop making excuses. Managing your company's software installations, troubleshooting and updates is eating up the majority of my job these days. If there was a viable alternative to your software present, my boss would force us to switch immediately.

Hi this latest disaster ,funnily enough co-inciding with another update has millions of users frustrated and angry around the world,for hours the so called status page wasn't even acknowledging the event,i wonder who actually rang Apple to tell them about it,heads should roll for this ,honestly i cannot even get Apple to fix the com.apple.geod glitch that is plaguing users so is it any wonder that they screwed this one up as well!

Final Cut Pro 6 by Diana Weynard: Format too New FOR THIS VERSION OF APP?

I purchased the book book Final Cut Pro 6 by Diana Weynard and it is a basics book overview of FCP However it comes with CD and I have downloaded the CD to my hard drive and when i open the files in
FINAL CUT PRO 6 it says:
FILES FORMAT IS TOO NEW FOR THIS VERSION OF THE APPLICATION.
I did go to the website and download the updates.
I have upgraded osx to 10.5.5
FCP is at 6.0.4
Quictime Pro 7.55
Whats going on?

the projects included with this book were built with and for FCP 6 ... if you do not have FCP 6 then its no good to you.
what version of FCP are you running? with FCP open, choose *Final Cut Pro* menu *> About Final Cut Pro* and see what version it says there in the splash screen

Looking for a simple desktop app

Help please -- there's an app out there that does this simple thing but I can't remember its name or see it in the App Store.
What I'd like to do, when watching a video, is blank out the rest of the desktop somehow.
(Think I saw a small note in Macworld a few months ago about it).

What is Required for Distribution of Desktop App

Hi,
I'm trying to figure out what is required to distribute JMF. I don't want to make users install an executable, I just want to include required JARS/data files/libraries for a streaming webcam (no audio). (I have read the README and searched all over online, but I'm still not sure)
I create my app, and I have customizer.jar, jmf.jar, jmf.properties, mediaplayer.jar, multiplayer.jar, sound.jar in the lib folder. Although I only need the jmf.jar, and possibly the jmf.properties? I am using NetBeans.
Anyways, I still can't get it to work on another WinXP computer. If I disconnect my camera on my computer, the app still knows what type of device camera it is looking for (vfw:Microsoft WDM Image Capture (Win32):0), but when I trying to run it on another computer with or without the camera connected , it doesn't seem to know because no devices print out when I print the list.

i was thinking about the surface pro 3 i3 as it seems well suited to traveling and is the cheapest model available only
problem is that even the i3 is quite expensive and id still need to get a type cover with that
are there any ways to get this cheaper or a cheaper alternative (not the surface pro 2 as i hate its kickstand) as i was looking for something within the £400 - £500 price range

Even if the question is offtopic. If you want to use your device during your travel (ie. in a train, bus, ...) a Notebook is a better choice instead of a Tablet PC like MS surface. You should find in the 400-500GBP range a lot Notebooks that are good for
developing and mobile usage.
If you want to spend lot of money, get a THinkpad Yoga. But this is a device in the ~1000GBP range, but it is a convertable, small, not very heavy, perfect for traveling with it. But you will also find small Notebooks from Samsung, Toshiba, but at least
if it is an Ultrabook, you are in the upper price range.

Can you suggest a Design pattern for moving a desktop app to web?

I have been asked to move a desktop applciaiton which has Serialized files as persistant layer in to Web, can anyone suggest me a good design pattern to accomplish this.

I dont know what data is in the files, but I suggest looking at creating a set of database tables, normalize them, and copying the data to the tables (via java). Have a DBA review your database schema design if possible before copying the data. Then, use MVC design as I describe here:

Once you get experience in the MVC design described above, your next project can use MVC with a framework such as Java Spring (a more advanced topic). You should read a book cover on Spring to cover on it first.

Where can I find a step by step tutorial for for creating a desktop app that connects JSwing components to a Java DB or Mysql Database?

I am using Netbeans 7.4.
I would like one that would show me how to connect to the database and how to use code snippets on an ActionPerformed event that would Create, Delete, and Save new records as well as navigate the database, Using as many images as possible.
That's probably a pretty tall order!
