No horns in garageband for ipad 2?

Where are the horns in garageband for the ipad?

Unfortunately most of the users of this forum are users not Apple engineers. You need to direct your feedback to:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/
Bear in mind the limits of the iPad are highly circumscribed as opposed to those of a computer so there is bound to be some fundamental differences between Garage Band versions for the different platforms. I use Garage Band on my iPad2 as an idea pad rather than carry around manuscript and pencils while about town. All serious  work is done on a proper DAW.

  • How do you open Garageband for iPad files with Garageband?

I was led to believe that Garageband could open up Garageband For iPad files, but not vice versa.
However when a friend sent me his Garageband For iPad file, and I tried to open it, a "compatibility updater" started running then stopped halfway through and told me Garageband was "unable to complete the download" and directed me to go to Apple help.
    Here I am.
Anybody got any idea how to open (and work on) this file?
    Tank you in advance.

Apparently there were a two updaters I had to run first, before letting the compatability updater do it's thing.
And since I got my Garageband for Mac through the APP store I could only do my updating through that.
So if anyone else is having that same problem, update, update, update!

  • I have GarageBand for iPad 2 and noticed that there are far fewer loops for iPad than for apple laptops. Is there a library available of apple loops? I haven't been able to find any if there are. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update: An Apple rep called me today to update the status of my return. I was told that the replacements for the BLACK iPad 2's was still another 3 weeks out (at least) so they offered me a brand new WHITE 16GB iPad 2. I could have that or continue waiting. I opted to go ahead and accept the offer of a new white one. Worst case scenario if I don't like the white one I have buddy that just bought a 16GB black one that he would be willing to swap it.

  • Is there anyway to record more than one track at a time on garageband for ipad?

Just wondering if that is possible or in the works?

GarageBand for iPad only allows to record on one track at a time. That is the selcted one that turns into the Instrument View where the actual recording is done.
If multi-track recording is in the works, nobody know except Apple and they won't usually pre-announce that kind a things. My guess, it will not be implemented.
    Hope that helps

  • How do I delete audio files on GarageBand for iPad?

In GarageBand for iPad, When I click on the audio files button, there are three songs in there that I have  imported to iTunes from my iPad. How do I delete these?

Connect iPad to computer and open iTunes. Select the iPad.
Click on the Apps tab and from there scroll down to the bottom.
There you should see a FileSharing section. Highlight Garageband in the app list and you should see your 3 songs on the "Garageband Documents" box to the right and be able to delete the from there.

  • How can I make a fade out effect at the end of the song in garageband for iPad?

I want to made this effect but honestly I have no idea about what I have to do. u.u Please help.

GB for iPad doesn't have volume automation, you'd need to import the project into GB on a Mac to create the fade with a volume curve.
as an alt, finish your song and export the audio file, then import the audio file in an audio editor and create a volume fade with that:

  • Why are chords not in order of I, ii, iii, IV, V, Vi, Vii, in GarageBand for iPad?

In Garageband for iPad, for each instrument such as Smart Piano, the chords that you can play are listed "out of order." For example, in the key of C major, the chords are listed in the order of Em, Am, Dm, G, C, F, Bflat, Bdim. Is there a reason they are not listed in order such as CDEFGABC? Also, why is Bdim even there at all? This might be a newbie question, but I don't have much working knowledge of actual music theory.

Bdim is the VII chord - rather we should ask why is the Bb there! Bb is not in the key of C major!
However, great questions overall for a 'newbie' to music theory!
My guess... iii-vi-ii-V-I-VI-vii is a  circle progression   -   iii-vi-ii-V-I-VI-VII-vii is a circle progression with a borrowed VII from the C minor scale (see below)
the vi–ii–V–I progression is a chord progression (also called the circle progression for the circle of fifths, along which it travels). It is "undoubtedly the most common and the strongest of all harmonic progressions" and consists of "adjacent roots in ascending fourth or descending fifth relationship"
    - from circle progression wikipedia article
And also from the circle progression wikipedia article :
'The circle progression may also contain dominant seventh chords."
    - Just don't know why they went with a flat! maybe they figure a key change around the seventh chord wouldn't be to drastic and allow some playful dissonance
Try playing that Bb, you'll notice its sounds slightly brighter than all the other chords, has a different mood. That's because its out of key, but just slightly, that it is still usable - its a borrowed chord (wikipedia has article on this too) - and there are not hard and fast rules for what you can and cant play!  In music theory, this is known as a non-diatonic chord.

  • Is it possible to change the tempo mid-song in GarageBand for iPad? And if so, how do you do it?, Is it possible to change the tempo mid-song in GarageBand for iPad? And if so, how do you do it?

Is it possible to change the tempo mid-song in GarageBand for iPad? And if so, how do you do it?

The tempo setting applies to the whole song, but only to the recorded midi instruments or loops. It's a bit of a kludge, but you could record different sections at different tempos, export each as an AIFF file, then glue them together in a new project.
The same goes for the key.

Or do i have to pay again?

If you've previously paid for the iOS version, you can. If you've previously paid for the Mac version but not the iOS version, you can't.

  • Record Keyboard MIDI using GarageBand for iPad

See this video using GB4iPad to record keyboard MIDI:-
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQlbjFxdxGE

I just discovered the arpeggiator feature today, and indeed, as gb 1111 mentioned, it doesn't work via MIDI input!!!! An incredible oversight! Perhaps an option to allow this can be added in an update, Apple?
I am forwarding gb 1111's concern to the GarageBand for iPad feedback page: http://www.apple.com/feedback/garageband_ipad.html. Let's all do the same, in the hope of further improvements and refinements to GarageBand for iPad by Apple!

  • Iad Camera Connection Kit (USB) + USB Electric guitar + GarageBand for iPad

    Hi,
I wonder if the USB Camera Connection will work with an USB Mic or Electric Guitar and if I'll be able to use this with GarageBand for iPad.
    Thanks,
    M

Hi I have one that looks exactly like the Behringer but in black and made in china. No trademark. It must be the pirated version which I got for $30-$35 USD in Mexico. I connected it through the CCK to the ipad (1) using the newest OS 4.2 or 4.3 and I was able to tune the guitar. I couldn't hear a thing but the notes appeared. Then I was able to record a track but still no sound. I played it back and it came low. I'm still figuring it out, but it seems that it might work.

  • How do I copy/paste a part FROM GarageBand for iPad TO another app?

This is a feature that it looks like Apple have half-implemented but it's not complete...
I can paste parts TO GarageBand for iPad from numerous other apps no problem. I've done this with everyday looper, sunrizer, dm1, nlog, etc.
But when I try to copy parts FROM GarageBand it fails. I need to do this to, say, take a part I'm working on, listen to it in everyday looper, and compose an NLog synth part over the top. Or to take a part from GarageBand, add effects in Moog Filtron, and then paste it back to GarageBand. This is basic stuff you need to be able to do if you are using an app like GarageBand as your songwriting environment.
With functionality like this potentially blocked or not implemented, it makes GarageBand not the production solution it could be. Very much hope I'm being stupid and you can point out the way...

Doesn't seem possible at the moment. It may well be in the pipeline already but you could always drop a line to GarageBand for iPad Feedback requesting such a feature...

  • How do I copy a GarageBand for iPad part from one song to another?

Surely this must be an obvious thing, but I see no way to do it.
I am working on 2 versions of song on my iPad. I want to copy a part from one song to the other.
I know I can duplicate the entire song, but that is not the same.
I really need help on this one and I'll be most disappointed if it's a basic feature Apple have not provided - I'm writing a soundtrack and at the moment and bought the app and to some extent the iPad especially to write on the road, but this will mean we have to abandon GarageBand for iPad entirely if its not possible.
The other secondary question is why can't you copy parts (using Sonoma copy/paste or similar) OUT of GarageBand into other apps? Another basic function Apple should not have skimped on. This is necessary to, say, apply an effect externally and bring it back to GarageBand for mixdown. I'll raise this separately too.
    Thanks!

Hi  Here is a guide I wrote about bouncing tracks in GarageBand for iPad.  You could use the methods in here to bounce the track you want to open in another app in to Hokusai , into your other app, and then back into GarageBand.  I hope this helps!   Cheers
