No iCloud after installing and updating Lion

I had wireless issues (still do) so I formatted, reinstalled Snow Leopard, re-downloaded Lion, updated Lion and I still do not have icloud   Anyone have any suggestions?

So after many hours of searching and testing, I find that I was stuck on the 10.7.2 11C35 version of Lion, not the 11C74 (go to About This Mac and click on Version) even though it kept telling me that my software was up-to-date.  In order to resolve this I had to boot in recovery mode and re-install Lion from the App Store which now has the updated Lion so minimal updates after install and on first boot asked me to setup iCloud.  Still have my wireless issues but now I can sync my iphones, work pc and my mba contacts easier.

  • Cd burning issue after installing and updating snow leopard

After installing and updating snow leapard to the latest version, the cd burner for i-tunes quit working.  it says" burning disk initializing" then "burning disk finishing"  comes up with the error "the attempt to burn a disk failed.  the disc drive didn't respond properly and can't recover or retry.  Any suggestions to fix this problem?

First try other disks, brand new, then try another brand, then consider backup user files and (clean and polish then) c booting off the 10.6.3 disk and simply reinstalling OS X then updating to 10.6.8 again.
Hopefully this should fix the issue in OS X software, you may have to reinstall certain third party software again that it's kext files got kicked out of OS X by the reinstall.
If you get hung booting at any time, simply hold the shift key down and then update your software then reboot normally

After first installing the new Mountain Lion upgrading Lion on my Macbook Pro was a little slow, so I decided to format and install Mountain Lion via a thumb drive. After installation on my Macbook Pro was restarting all the time and showing a black screen with codes on the screen. I decided to reformat and reset the PRAM, and that seems to have worked. Occasionally a black screen appears with the codes and my macbook restarts again. Last night I updated the Mountain Lion and error and looping retornartam. I turned off my macbook, went to sleep and this morning I called and finally worked Do not know what's going on in my friends' macbook not occur this problem. Is there a hardware problem?
    thank you

Before you upgrade, make sure all your software supports it based on post July, 25, 2012 reports on
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Reports prior to this date are unreliable, as they are likely with beta releases of Mountain Lion to developers. Other pitfalls to realize include:

  • After installing and updating mountain lion PTLense Aperture Plugin lost license

I tried to find a solution and wanted to delete PTlense from the directorie but the systems says I don't have permission??? As much as I understood I can download and install PTLense Aperture Plugin again but before I have to delete any "PTLense-Things" from the library. The problem is, that I can't delete.
I really need PTlense daily. Please help! Thank you

Do a Get Info (command - I) on the plugin and see what the permissions are set to. If necessary, unlock the lock and set your permissions to read/write.

    Need some help here!
After installing 3 updates from the "software update" app today (June, 11th) my macbook doesn' t initialize anymore.
Is there someone who can help me fix this issue?
    Why this is happening?
    How can i fix it?

If you have backups, if you can and saved your ML installer, you can start over.
Prevention and taking a more proactive approach to system maintenance and repair, rather than fixiing a problem (likely pre-existing?) format the drive or partition and reinstall 10.8.1 and restore from backups.
Never had any issues? freezing? apps crashing before?

  • After install of Mountain Lion I have no facetime. It is nowhere in hd and ap store will not allow download. Will I need to re-instal ML in order to get it back??

    Where are you, geographically?
    I might suggest:
    Give this a try:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
After this is completed download and install 10.8.4 Mountain Lion Update v10.8.4 (Combo).
If this doesn't work, then reinstall Mountain Lion:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • MacBook Pro hanging with blue screen and spinner after installing Software Update

Hi I was wondering if someone could help me with this current issue. Just a few hours ago I finished reinstalling Mac OS X Snow Leopard in my MacBook Pro. I performed a clean installation as part of a yearly spring cleaning that I do on all my systems to keep them optimized. So there was I downloading some software updates which included the combo update of OSX 10.6.8 and others. The updates finished downloading and the system logged out to install the updates, when the updates finished installing my MacBook proceeded by logging out into a blue screen and show a gray spinner similar to the one seen when you start your Mac. Here's the problem after 2 hours the system is showing the spinner and the blue screen, I think that my computer has just hanged in the reboot process.
I was wondering what should I do? Do a force restart? Or leave it overnight?
Also, where can I find any information on what error is causing this issue?
I appreciate your responses and help.
By the way, I installed Mac OS X from a USB stick that has the original image of the disk installer that came bundled with my computer.

Force a shutdown. Do not restart yet, but first do the following:
    Repair the Hard Drive
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Next, boot into Safe Mode then restart normally.
    Hi Kappy,
Checked the hard drive after forcing a shutdown and booting from my Snow Leopard Installer USB Key and the status of the HDD says "Verified". I ran the repair and the volume was repaired successfully. Clicked on "Verify Disk" and it says "Macintosh HD appears to be OK". So I ran a second repair and again no errors were reported.
As suggested I booted back again in Safe Mode and restarted normally. All software appears to have been installed successfully. But I don't understand why my computer hanged and showed the spinner after installing the updates in the blue screen that appears just before rebooting. I am aware that the system shows that spinner after a OS update but the longest it lasts is 30 seconds at the most in my previous cases.

    Hi there, harleygirl.
A look around the internet and my previous knowledge indicates this is not an issue with firefox, but with how the server that the app is run on is incorrectly configured. To test this, please install an old version of firefox. You can download an older version from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html then try to visit the website again. Please let us know if it turns out that it works with version 3.6

Hi Jen.  My daughter just compleated her nursing program and is now working as a full time nurse.  Focus and study hard and soon you will be there too.  Now to the problem at hand.  I have the same problem.  I gave up on it and satisfied myself with my iPod without the upgrade.  Reason being I've read so many posts of people having problems after the upgrade.  But I'm sure other factors are involved.  Nevertheless here is the fix most say works to solve the problem:  What ever virus protection you have installed on your computer, disable it.  Then try to install the update. After that enable the protection. I had Kaspersky, and it does it's job well. The thinking is, the virus protection is blocking the upgrade.  Hope this works.   Charlie

If you mean the "no entry" sign, a circle with a slash through it, then you need to reinstall Mountain Lion.
Boot into the Recovery HD by holding down cmd-r at startup tone until gray screen.
    From there, reinstall Mountain Lion.
