No icon for mirroring
I can't find the mirror icon when I double click the home button and scroll left or right
Yep, airplay works but the icon eludes me, so I cannot turn on airplay. Not on the bottom from double clicking the home button... I can run video, photos and audio to the Apple TV, but cannot find the icon to enable mirroring... cheers

I have just installed a new wifi in to my house and can't get the mirroring icon to come up on my computer. I have tried rebooting all 3 but can't get mirroring to start anymore....
If it's only missing from the Dock, drag it there from the Applications folder.
If it's missing from the Applications folder, it needs to be reinstalled from the original source.

I cannot find the AirPlay icon for the life of me. I have iOS 7.0.2 on my iPad Mini. Connected to my WiFi network just fine. I swipe up to get to the control center badges and all I see is the AirDrop icon. Trying to disable mirroring on ipad for Netflix streaming and don't know what to do. Any luck out there?
If you last used an Apple TV to mirror your device and have updated to the newest Apple TV software, go into settings and turn airplay back on. The icon should then appear on your iPad mini when you swipe up allowing you to disable it for Netflix. After updating my Apple TV software for some reason it turned airplay off.

Be on same network, apple id with homesharing on for ATV and Mac or iOS. Always try a reboot of router and ATV with all cables out for 30 Seconds too. Mirror icon should appear near clock IF you have a mid 2011 mac or newer (early 2011 for MBP) AND are running OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion or newer.
Oler mac or OS can 'mirror' with a third party app called airparrot. -

The icon for Safari has probably moved to make room for new apps. Scroll the Home screen to look for it.

As I said, the other day I had downloaded the latest version of Firefox and after doing so none of the icons for the different websites that normally go to are no longer there. Websites such as MSNBC, MSN, Most visited, that entire strip is no longer visible. I tired resetting Firefox and still nothing. Can anyone tell me how to get them to appear again? It's a hassle every time that I want to go to one of those sites I have to type it in the search bar, instead of just clicking on it as I did before. Please keep in mind if you answer, that I'm still learning about these things called computers and not very well versed in some of the things that you experts know:) Thanks
On Windows XP Firefox shows the menu bar by default and not the orange Firefox menu button that is shown when the menu bar is hidden.<br />
The menu bar is the toolbar at the top that shows menu items like File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help.<br />
You can press the F10 key or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily in case this bar is hidden (View > Toolbars or Firefox > Options).
The Navigation Toolbar shows the Back and forward button and the input field where you type the address of a site that you want to visit (aka location bar) and also has a search bar where you can type items that you want to look up with a search engine (Google).

I have a late 2008 white macbook. I have a mini dvi to hdmi adapter, and a hdmi cord. My cannot get my MB to detect an external monitor. Nothing happens when plugged in. Also, my display settings does not have an option for mirroring or arrangment tab
Yeah, I'm having the same exact problem - It seems that the thunderbolt minidisplay port is only able to output the analog VGA signal, not the digital signal to support DVI and HDMI. This is a bug that came up after installing 10.7.1. I bought my macbook air with 10.7 on it, upgraded it to 10.7.1 as soon as I got it, so I have never been able to use hdmi or dvi with my macbook air. This is an extremely frustrating problem for me, I used HDMI on a daily basis with my PC. I have spent many hours at the genius bar running diagnostic tests so Apple can get as much information as possible to create a fix for this problem. I have been emailing tech support for 3 or so weeks now, they keep saying that they are working on a fix and it should be out soon, but 10.7.2 has come and gone and I still have no HDMI functionality with my MacBook Air!

Accessing File/Folder icons for current Look and Feel
Hi,
I'm looking to get the Icon for files and folders that the current UIManager uses for some work I'm doing. Please could you help.
I'm getting strange results from the method I'm using, which is to create a temporary file and do: Icon i = FileSystemView.getFileSystemView().getSystemIcon(tempFile);
I don't like the idea of having to create a temporary file to do this - isn't there another way to do it? - for instance asking "get default file icon"/"get default folder icon".
I could download a jpg image of the file/folder icons, but this is static - and I want my method to get the icons used for the current look and feel I'm using.
There must be a simple way to do this right? I mean, java uses a method to get the icons for the current look and feel.. Oh.. Please help!

Animated gif icon for an exception instead of the standard icon?
Hello,
is there a possibillity to use an animated gif icon for an exception instead of the red standard icon in a web template?
I tried to change the standard icon s_s_ledr.gif against an animated gif icon in the mime repository, but it does not work. In the IE the icon is still shown without animation.
Maybe I´ve changed the wrong icon?
Can you please help me?

it is possible to integrate own symbols for exceptions. If you can use animated gif I don't know. However there is a post over here explaining the usage of the modification for symbols:

When I bootup the icon for Elements shows up in orange. It changes to green only when I've gone to Finder and clicked on Elelments under the Devices list. This is a recent development. The icon used to be green upon bootup. Does anyone know why ?

I'm not affiliated w/ the developer, just a happy user that gave up fighting the apple podcast app a while ago. I used to have a bunch of smart playlists in itunes for my podcasts, and come home every day and pathologically synced my phone as soon as I walked in the door, and again before I walked out the door in the morning.
Since my wife was doing this too, we were fighting over who's turn it was to sync their phone.
Since I've switched to Downcast, I no longer worry about syncing my phone to itunes at all. I can go weeks between syncs.
Setup a "playlist" in downcast (ex., "Commute") and add podcasts to that playlist. Add another playlist ("walk" or "workout") and add different podcasts to that one.
Set podcast priorities on a per-feed basis (ex., high priority for some daily news feeds, medium priority for some favorite podcasts, lower priority for other stuff). Downcast will play the things in the priority you specify, and within that priority, it will play in date order (oldest to newest).
Allegedly, it will also sync your play status to other devices, although that is not a feature I currently use and can't vouch for. It uses apple's iCloud APIs, so to some extent may be limited by what Apple's APIs can do. -
InDesign CS4 no longer shows triangle icon for modified images in Links
My InDesign crashed the other day, and now it no longer gives me the yellow triangular icon in the Links panel to indicate that and image has been modified and needs to be updated. I typically do not connect the image to the original via Indesign, but work in Photoshop independently. This has never been a problem. After I update the image in PS, the triangle instantly appears in ID so I can click on it and update the image.
I can still click on the refresh button to update the image, but I would like those indicators back since it helps me with older documents - so I can know which images actually need the update and which do not.
I have restarted the panel and launched and closed bridge as suggested in other older discussions, and it didn't make a difference. I also noticed that the if I do try to open the original image via ID with Open With, the icon for PS, for example, does not take me to PS (it opens the image in Windowd Paint). This makes me wonder is the whole connection between ID and PS is messed up. How do I fix that connection?I will also add that the Edit With paths are completely messed up, but only within ID. If I choose to open in PS, it may open it in Firefox, IE, Paint or Windows preview. And then next time, choose a different app. Eventually Photoshop won't even be an option anymore. If I choose Other and choose PS, then it works. If I go in bridge or anywhere else in Windows and choose PS from Open With, then it works fine. This is just an ID problem.

Desktop drag and drop icon for my "other" computer
i really need an icon for my MacBookPro desktop to reside on my Mac Pro desktop (and vice versa) so that I can just drag and drop copy (or move) data from one volume to another. sort of like what I have with my dropbox icon in the sense that I can just keep this on my desktop and in the View Pane of Finder and drag and drop items or open the volume etc.
is this possible and i am just not getting it to work because i don't have things set to mount automatically or is there a restriction that does not allow this that I don't understand?
i am on snow leopard and the connection is via wi, but I could plug in via ethernet when i know i will need to do this sort of moving of data a lot.
