No icons on bookmarks

The "icons" on the bookmarks are no longer there. On the "drop down" menu for my bookmarks, the specific location icon is now gone. I scanned and cleaned out my PC using PC Unleash.

Do you still see a generic icon or no icon at all?
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Make sure that the pref browser.chrome.favicons is true on the about:config page.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. 
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default via the right-click context menu if they are user set
*Preferences can be changed via the right-click context menu: Modify (String or Integer) or Toggle (Boolean)

What's with the new Firefox 8.0? I made the mistake of updating mine and about 30% of the icons in bookmarks disappeared. It looks like you are requiring a favicon. Anyway, BAD IDEA!!!!!

Briansyddal - you might be able to manage your phone without a PC, but many of us can't, especially those of us with large iTunes libraries. How do you propose I manage my 250GB of music using only a phone? Maybe I could go out and buy 10 iPhones and spread my library out among them!
Catz537 - I have the same problem as you and I've spent hours on the web trying to find a solution to it. It was a problem with iOS 7 and 8.1.1 doesn't fix it. The the only advice from Apple is completely useless because it requires you, effectively, to delete and recreate your iTunes library and lose all your metadata, album art, notes etc and there's also no guarantee it will work. I wish I could be more help (even more - I wish Apple could be more help) - I updated to 8.1.1 at 1400 today. At 2200 I'm still "waiting for changes to be applied" for a measly 16GB of music transfer.

Small icons alongside bookmarks or on browser bar have disappeared.

Following a recent update the small icons alongside bookmarks have disappeared or are empty boxes. This also happens with addresses on the browser bar.

Since updating to Firefox 9.0.1, the icons for bookmarked sites have vanished-in the bookmark list-how do I get the icons back?

Icons that were displayed for each bookmarked site-in the list of bookmarks-have disappeared (only the site name, not associated icon-is shown) since I upgraded to Firefox 9.0.1.
I am running a Mac with OS X 10.7.2 (Lion). I was previously using Firefox 8 with no problems.

Icon for bookmarks toolbar has disappeared. How can I have it permanently displayed again?

My bookmarks still exist, but the permanent icon to open the window with 1 click in the upper left corner of screen has suddenly disappeared. I was recently making adjustments to my views and toolbars, and may have accidentally switched it off but I cannot see how to get it back. Firefox 3.6. Computer novice here. Please go easy on me. Upgraded IPad last week, now Safari is not listing my visited web pages below the web address. Whenever I click on the book icon a bookmark box comes up instead of the usual 9 web page icons it used to show. How do I correct?

You can't - Safari on iOS 5 used tabbed browsing as opposed to the thumbnail/page browsing as on previous iOS versions. You now open new tabs/pages via the '+' to the right of the tab bar, and you can close the selected by tapping the 'x' on its left-hand end (unless it's the last tab).

Cannot create shortcut with FF icon from bookmarks - comes up IE icon why

Trying to create a shortcut for yahoo mail login on my desktop but every time I try it puts an icon with an Internet Explorer icon not a Firefox icon. When I click on the icon it opens up to the yahoo login but in Internet explorer not Firefox. Tried going to bookmarks in Firefox and dragging to my desktop but it still comes up with IE icon.

Icons on bookmarks of N97 browser do not appear

when I save a link into the bookmarks the icons not appear in the N97 browser. my old n95 shows them correctly.

Try quitting the Messages app then reset your iPhone. Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. Then reset the phone. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

No icons for bookmarks are showing

When u drag a URL from the addressbar and put it in ur bookmark on the top it will show the i con for example Youtube i will grab it and put it with my other bookmarks and it will show the bookmark with youtube beside it and icon showing but then when i close firefox and open it up agian the youtube Icon is gone until i click it then it will show agian till that session is over...... please help

I don't remember how I got rid of them. I may have found how to delete them after or before. I really don't remember. I just know I clicked on bookmarks and went to show all bookmarks clicked on unsorted , clicked on the gear symbol and clicked on delete. I notice that now when I go through the same process to see if I can delete anything else, the list is a light gray instead of black and whenever it's light gray I can't click on anything in the list. I don't know why that is. I got rid of places.sqlite and another one that said corrupted. I wrote you the reply that none of the things you suggested worked before I found the way to get rid of the list. I just kept trying to find a way to do it and I did but I couldn't tell you if the way I said I thought I did it is the way I actually did it. I'm still trying to figure out what I can do on this iMac and I've had it for 3 yrs.
I don't know what you mean by a feed entry. I just know that when I clicked on the link it took me to a BBC webpage. At any rate. I did get rid of the unsorted list of BBC bookmarks that I didn't add so I guess the problem is fixed. It made me feel spooky, tho, to have stuff bookmarked that I didn't do.

Which icons are missing, ? Have all bookmarks lost icons or only some, and what are you looking at, the bookmarks library or the tabs at the top of the screen when you see missing icons. Attaching a screenshot may help.

No webpage icons in bookmarks in Safari 5

Suddently there are no longer any webpage specific icons in my bookmarks - only the blue dots. I have not changed any settings that I know of.

Hi,
Try emptying the Safari cache.
Command + Option + E
If that doesn't help, quit Safari. Command + Q. Open a Finder window. Select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left. Now open the Library folder then the Safari folder.
Move the WebpageIcons.db file from the Safari folder to the Trash.
Relaunch Safari.
