No image in the monitor...

Hello! i ve imported a QT movie in the timeline of Encore. then a mpeg file compressed by Sorenson.
everything went well for import. But when i press play in the monitor, there is no image, just a dark screen sometime getting lighter or darker and the audio is ok. just no image...when i play the files before to import it in encore it plays just fine in QT or Windows MP.
Same thing on the little screen in the project window.I can just see the first frame of my movie when i put the pointer at the beguinning.
but when i play...white/dark again(no image) with good audio.
Please help! Thanks.X
ps: last week i ve clicked on many different settings and at the end one day i could see my movie previewed. But then any other imported file in a new project wouldn t do it anymore and i can t remember exactly what i did to have it ok one time...

I'm having the same problem. I have a complient mpeg2 file (PAL format) and it just plays blank in the Monitor, although the audio plays fine. When I load this mpeg file in ANY of my media players it plays just fine. Also when I import the file as an asset in Encore it takes an AGE to import, whereas if I use anothe DVD authoring package like Ulead's DVD Workshop 2 it imports very quickly. Although I have only just started using Encore 2.0 and I love it's interface and superb professional options in my opinion it needs to be far less fussy on the kinds of files it will import. Iv'e read that it doesnt like DivX files etc, but considering this is 2006 and DivX is by far the most used codec for compressing movies on PC's and consumer hardware it really needs to get into the modern age!.

I have tried everything I can think of--I'm desperate for help!
Heres what I have and my workflow
    Windows 7/64
All drivers and software are up to date.
Photos taken with 5D Mark iii in Raw
    Developed in Camera Raw
    Tweaked in CS6
    Color space is 1998 RGB
    Saved as jpeg
Using a Lenovo Desktop- Ideacenter B520
    Printer is Epson R3000
Monitor and printer are calibrated with Colormunki Photo.
In photoshop I softproof using the profile created with colormunki and the image looks excellent.
Whn I print, I choose "photoshop manages colors", and in the printer setting I make sure color management is turned off. The prints look very dull and washed out. I make sure the correct printer profile is chosen (the one created with colormunki for the specific paper I use)
Bust, if using the same image, I choose "Printer manages colors", and then in the printer color management choose "Adobe 1998", the brints look wonderful.
What am I doing the is causing Photoshop manages colors to look worse than printer manages colors, when in both cases the image looks great on the monitor?
    Thanks so much

  • Strange images on the monitor. How to fix?

Hi guys. I have an iMac G5 running 10.4.11 that refuses to boot properly. The first problem that we found was with the power supply, we replaced it and even though the computer now actually receives power, it has returned to the previous problem. Currently when the computer is started up, we hear the normal startup sound but the screen remains dark. After a few seconds, the monitor begins to show something, but all it shows is that the left third of the screen is blue with little weird streaks through it, like if somebody tried to draw straight lines but somebody else moved a some of the pixels up or down, resulting in a fragmented line thing. After about a minute of this the left third of the screen changes fast into a crimson color right before there is a large white explosion of color across the whole screen. After that the third of the screen is pink, and the entire top border of the screen constantly flickers. And then, after a minute of this, the fans turn on at full blast.
I have checked the logic board and all the capacitors appear to be in perfect condition, while the power supply obviously had problems. So my question, is there anything else I should try? I really do want to get this fixed rather than buy a whole new computer.

If you have not already, reset PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
and if that does not help, reset SMC (power management)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1767
Be sure to follow the procedure precisely and disconnect all cables. When you re-connect it, if you are using an over-crowded or old power strip (surge suppressor), you may want to connect it directly to the wall outlet, at least initially.

  • How do I get an image in the Encore CS6 monitor window? Audio's fine.

First time Encore user. Running its CS6 version alongside PP CC 2014. Exported media as mpg2-dvd from PP, imported as timeline with the .wav into Encore as suggested here: Adobe TV
I get sound but no image in the monitor window. The m2v file plays back in VLC, but no image in QT, and attempted playback gets me spinning beach balls.
Thoughts? Just need to burn a DVD for client delivery tomorrow. Yes, a DVD.
I'm running osx 10.9.5, 2.7GHz i7/16GB RAM MBP with a couple of SSDs in it, and a Thunderbolt RAID 1 for media.
    Thanks for any leads.

Thanks for your reply. I believe the purpose of Photo Stream on Apple TV is quite different, obviously you can use Photo Stream as a screen saver, but since Apple TV doesn't have a hard drive you can't download your Photo Stream pictures onto the device. This creates a problem when you have an Apple TV at two different locations (Home sharing wouldn't work), so I want to know if I can move a picture back into PhotoStream after 30 days and the system will allow it. Please help! Thanks!

  • Slideshow with multiple images on the screen at once

I’m trying to create a graduation slideshow in Premiere Elements 11 that mixes both still photos and video.  I can handle the video portion just fine (I think!), but I’m struggling to get the photos to do what I want.
I would like five photos (and a text field) to individually phase in and remain visible on a black “slide”.  Once all five photos are visible, I intend to transition to the next “slide” with five new photos.  What is the best way to go about doing this?  I’ve searched for a couple of hours and can’t seem to find anything that explains what I’m trying to do.  The best I can come up with is to create a title slide, and plop each of the five photos and text on top of it, then transition to another title slide and repeat.
I did this same project last year, and I created the “slides” in PowerPoint, and then exported the animated show as a .wmv.  From there, I imported them into Premiere to combine with the video footage.  I can probably do that again this year, but I was hoping there was a simple way to accomplish the same thing in Premiere.
    Thanks in advance!

I have something for you to consider. It does not involve any user keyframing, but just a lot of details for what could be an interesting "Picture In Picture" effect. The following is the How To. If necessary, I will post a link to what the end result might look (via YouTube).
This presentation will use a simple model with five scenic photos to demonstrate some basic principles on which you can build. The idea here will be to have a the main photo spin in to the center from the top, followed by one at a time placement (appearance, non spin in) of a photo in the lower left, lower right, upper left, upper right, and concluding with all 5 photos displayed for a designated amount of time.
We start by setting up the Timeline with:
Our background, in this case a blue color matte, on Video Track 1.
    And
    A Photo on each of Video Track 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6
To make it easier to follow what is going on at this stage, we stagger (train look) the position of the photo on each of the tracks with respect to one another.
In the Expert workspace (assuming you are using Premiere Elements 11 or 12), we click on the fx Effects Tab, set the category to Presets, and get to PiPs by clicking Show All and selecting PIPs from the drop down list.
The PiPs category contains numerous options, offering simple placement as well as placement involving Scale In or Out, Spin In or Out, or Slide In or Out. We will go the simple placement route for photos on Video Tracks 3, 4, 5, and 6 and use Spin In for our Video Track 2 photo which we will use as our center photo.
We highlight the photo on Video Track 3
We select the 25% LL (lower left)
We drag the 25% LL into the highlighted photo on Video Track 3.
In a similar manner, we apply a particular PIP 25% effect to photo on each of Video Track 4, 5, and 6
Video Track 4, 25% LR (lower right)
Video Track 5, 25% UL (upper left)
Video Track 6, 25% UR (upper right)
Now we highlight the photo on Video Track 2
And, apply the PIP 25% UR Spin In
We move the Timeline Indicator at a spot on the Timeline where the Monitor shows the final resting point for the placed PIP 25% UR Spin In, click on the image in the Monitor to bring up the photo’s bounding box, and then drag the image to the center position.
Now it is time to put things together.
With the mouse cursor, we drag the photo file on Video Track 2 to the start of the Timeline. We then move the images on Video Tracks 3, 4, 5, and 6 so that they start 2, 4, 6, and 8 seconds respectively from the start of the Timeline. A handy way to do this is utilizing the timecode field below the Monitor and left and right arrow keys of the computer keyboard.
Then, with the mouse cursor, we drag the ends of the images on Video Tracks  1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 so that they all end at the same Timeline time.
Some Finishing Touches are the last steps.
Adjusting Photo positions. We place the Timeline Indicator at a position on the Timeline where all five photos are displayed together in their final stationery position in the Monitor. If necessary, we click on one photo at a time in the Monitor to bring up its bounding box for repositioning and resizing. (Make sure that the correct  video track photo is selected.)
Applying Additional Effects. Consider going to Presets category and applying one of the Drop Shadows or Bevel Edges options. We applied Drop Shadows to each of photos on Video Tracks 3, 4, 5, and 6 and Bevel Edges to photo on Video Track 2. Also, check out the variations on these effects that can be achieved in the Applied Effects Tab/Applied Effects Palette/and expanded panel for the applied effect.
Now let us see what all this looks like after our finishing touches. If you try it, please let us know how easy or not so easy the instructions were to follow and if it worked for you.
    Thanks.

  • Why can't I see Still Clips in the Monitor on Premiere Elements 9?

I've been using Adobe Premiere Elements 4 for a number of years and loved it.  It was easy to use and it never failed. Most of the productions used still images but I did insert video into a few of the shows.
Today I installed Adobe Premiere Elements 9 and I've been unable to view still images in the monitor. It displays the file name but no image when I "play". I'll keep fiddling with this but if anybody knows what I might be doing wrong, please let me know.
    Thanks

Hi, Evander2. Premiere Elements has its own forum, which is here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere_elements
and you'll get better, faster answers to PRE questions if you ask there. Not that many people here use PRE.
    Good luck!

    Thanks for the follow up.
Missing in this equation were the version of Premiere Elements that you were using and the computer operating system on which it was running. But...
The deed is done. But.....Until now and after you went ahead and moved to version 12, we now learn what version of Premiere Elements you were using. We still do not know the computer operating system involved.
You just said Premiere Elements 10. Premiere Elements 10 is hit by a serious known display issue if the computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card/graphics card. In this issue, the only remedy is to roll back the driver version to about May 2013. The description of the problem and how to do the roll back are described in one of the Announcements at the top of this forum. What video card/graphics card does your computer use?
On another front, Adobe will be releasing a new version of Premiere Elements any day now. No one but Adobe knows the feature set for the new version. That type of information is announced at the moment of release of the new version.
So the remedy to the problem that you presented in this thread could have been...
    1. Rolling back the NVIDIA GeForce driver version to about May 2013 if possible (Windows 8 or 8.1 64 bit, may not be possible)
    2. Move to another version of Premiere Elements (which you did)
I offer the above for consideration so that you can review your decisions. We are pleased to learn that Premiere Elements 12/12.1 works for you.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions and ask for clarifications, but remember that the answers are in the details.
    Best wishes,

  • Can I use split screens on and extra monitor I have. I can get mirror image on both screens, but not a split screen. The monitor is 1600 x 900.

Can I use split screens on an extra monitor I have? I can get a mirror image on both screens, but not a split screen. The monitor is 1600 x 900 AOC 20inch monitor. Hope I haven't wasted my money buying this £69 monitor. My 13" Macbook Pro is a little small for my ageing eyes. Thanks

In the display settings on your computer uncheck "mirrored". This will put the displays in "extended" mode. In extended mode you can set the external display to its native resolution as well as drag windows from your computer to the external monitor. I assume that is what you mean when you say "split screen".

  • Fixing image size irrespective of the monitor's dimensions

    Hi ,
I have an HTML region, which has an image displayed from WORKSPACE_IMAGES. This regions exists at column 3 and is in the midst of two other regions which are at coulmn 1 (navigation region) and 9 (side bar region). Apparently I want this image to extend completely in the middle region. For which, I have set the width and height of the image which suits my monitor and it works fine ().
But the problem is, this doesnot display properly when viewed in a different monitor dimension. This occupies the complete screen in case of a monitor of smaller dimension and shows up the empty background in case of monitor of higher dimension.
Could you please help me in fixing the size of the image irrespective of the monitor dimensions!
    Thanks & regards,
    Anasuya

    Anasuya,
Your best bet is to pick a common monitor size and then develop your templates for that. Today, you'd be safe with 1024x768.
Using variable-width templates is more difficult to do, as the pages will look differently on smaller resolution screens than they do on larger resolution ones, and thus, you will have less control over the look and feel of your application.
Say you have a variable template with a 500 pixel image that is centered on the page; it may look fine on a 1024x768 screen, but as the size increases, the amount of white space on either side will also increase.
Most popular sites adhere to a fixed-width template; I recommend that you also investigate this option.
    Thanks,

  • Why can't I see still images in the playback monitor when editing a video?

Why can't I see still images in the playback monitor when editing a video? I have rendered the images in the project.  I checked my system to make sure it meets all the requirements for the software, no problem there.  When I "share" the project and save it as an MPEG, the images show up in WMP just fine.  But I need to be able to see what I'm doing to the stills while I am editing.  Help!

Many thanks for the reply with the details.
But, the key is missing...what version of Premiere Elements are you using? Are you using Premiere Elements 10?
I hope not in this case, but if you are, we will tell you what needs to be done. The following is a copy/paste of the Announcement
at the top of this forum about the Premiere Elements 10/NVIDIA GeForce issue.
Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA Video Card Driver Roll Back
If you are a Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card and you are experiencing
Premiere Elements 10 display and/or unexplained program behavior, then your first line of troubleshooting needs to be rolling
back the video card driver version instead of assuring that it is up to date.
Since October 2013 to the present, there have been a growing number of reports about display and unexplained workflow
glitches specific to the Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer has a NVIDIA GeForce video card. If this applies
to you, then the “user to user” remedy is to roll back the NVIDIA GeForce video card driver as far as is necessary to get rid of
the problems. The typical driver roll back has gone back as far as March – July 2013 in order to get a working Premiere
Elements 10. Neither NVIDIA nor Adobe has taken any corrective action in this regard to date, and none is expected moving forward.
Since October 2013, the following thread has tried to keep up with the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA reports
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1317675
Older NVIDIA GeForce drivers can be found

    Breezley,
OnLocation CS3 used Direct Draw to create the video window.  In Vista, you may have noticed that OnLocation CS3 would disable 'Aero' themed desktops as they did not support Direct Draw.  Windows 7 does not have this functionality, so you must disable the Aero theme manually to see the video in OnLocation CS3.
To do this, right click on open desktop and choose Personalize.
    This will display available Themes.
Scroll down to the 'Basic and High Contrast Themes'.
Choose any one of the basic or high contrast themes.
    Restart OnLocation CS3.
This should bring your video back into view.

  • Why are the photos i print much darker than the monitor image?

why are the photos i print much darker than the monitor image?

Please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model? What operating system? What program are you printing from?
Some programs such as Photoshop give the option to print to CMYK or sRGB color spaces.  Even though the printer uses CMYK inks the driver is expecting sRGB data.  If CMYK is selected the prints will be much too dark.
Another thing to check is the media type.  If you are printing on plain paper and have seelcted Photo paper the prints have too much ink.
