No images but the word "graphic" is read

When using the JAWS software, the word "graphic" is read in the middle of a sentence on each slide eventhough there are no images on the slide. Could someone please help!!!!

Try a reset i.e. hold the home and power buttons until the Apple logo appears. If that doesn't help you could give me a name of a book and I'll check a sample on both my iPad and iBooks on Mac.

I think I have found the source of my problem detailed above. Apparently, there have been problems with Preview running on OS Mavericks, dating back to October 2013, which Apple has yet to acknowledge or address. Many have had similar problems with photo images loading very slowly to the point of making Preview unuseable.
It may also explain problems I have had with flash drives and hard drives that ran on my Mac Book Pro under Lion no longer working since upgrading to Mavericks. I found other postings on these issues.
It is a shame that I have to resort to Google as the best source to identify problems with my Mac and possible solutions. In many cases, it directs me to the source on Apple Support, which is difficult to find when one attempts a search via Apple Support. This could use some improvement.
I am new to using community support sites and Apple does not seem to provide simple, clear directions on how to get started. Jumping in with both feet, not only did I get wet, but I apparently "splashed" someone, as I got a hostile response from another community member on the first issue ever posted. I never did get an answer to the problem, though. I hope some find these comments helpful.
Oh, and wake up, Apple. We all would hope you monitor and glean information from these postings and act promptly to remedy problems with OS Mavericks.

I accomplished what I needed last night. I remembered I had picked my favorite images from each year and put them in a "favorite" folder by year. These folders included 500 to 1200 images per year. I pulled up the folder for each year and highlighted all images and clicked on "Keywords" and all keywords used for all images were listed. I made those keywords persistent. It took me a while to realize I had to click on each keyword to make it persistent. After doing this for all years, I assume 95% of all keywords I have used over the many years were back in my list. I'm sure there is probably a more "technical" way to accomplish what I needed, but this seems to have worked. I also exported my list into a word document and is saved on my hard drive.
If I had not made folders with my favorite images for each year, I could not have used this method, so if you figure out a better way, I like to hear it. Thanks for your comments and willingness to help.

You cannot customize the Safari toolbar on the iPad.
What you can do on the iPad is go to Settings>Safari>Always show Bookmarks Bar>On and that will add a bookmarks bar on to the Safari browser.

My Ipod and Itunes are upto to date. After Itunes opens a small box with the word Ipod appears near the top of the right side of the screen. Then screen will go through the five steps of syncing. Afterward, still nothing has transfered to my Ipod(The box next to the songs I wanted were check)

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
Then make sure that you have the right boxes chacked to sync. See:

Also, I don't see any way to do the sync on an individual entry basis for calendar. Looks like it will only do all of them at once. I'd like to go through them one by one to confirm which entry is correct.

This has nothing to do with the Find my iPhone app being installed on the phone, but you do have to have Find my iPhone activated in the iCloud settings on the phone.

I'm having the same problem...it says that it upgraded (it says iPhoto 9.5 when I go into 'About iPhoto') and the new features seem to be there (when I click on share, I have the new option of ordering photo's like it shows in the pictures on the site, ordering a photo album, etc), but the main user interface is still the old one. Instead of having the new buttons on the bottom for Events, Faces, etc, I still have all of those on the old toolbar on the lefthand side...so confused haha.

Sometimes simply restarting your iTunes, the computer and the iPad is all that it takes to correct an issue like this so try that. Quit iTunes, reboot your computer, and restart the iPad. Then try the sync again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

I have to zip pdf files to email them to someone with a PC. The problem is they aren't smaller after zipping and I can't email them. I tried adjusting the Quartz filter to the Reduce file size. Now they're smaller, but the recipient can't read them. Help!

I need to zip pdf files to email them to a PC user. The problem is file size is not reduced.
I tried zipping them in Win 7 (which I use via Parallels 7) and sending them to the Finder to email.
But lately nothing is reduced. I tried choosing the Reduce File Size option in the Quartz Filter when I save the doc. The file size was reduced. However, the recipient could not read the file. Everything was blurry.
Is there a solution?

I am having some PDF sizing issues also, I am a BETA tester for TurboCAD Mac, and with the usage of (public) version 5, I have had some scaling issues. I have had (auto sent) 15 plus crash reports, (available as text) and had posted my scenario within the "lion- problems so far" article, so not to use up extra bandwith- or whatever- there are pictures there. I was not able to upload a PDF on site, and the staff @ Turbo CAd is working on it also. this is Lion specific new update, as I have posted many large format PDF's

I want my AC/DC, but the CD ain't reading!

I got 2 rockin' AC/DC CDs for Christmas today and I'm trying to import the tunes into iTunes. One of the CDs was imported without any problem, but the other one is acting a bit funny. I put it in, the cd spins, then stops. Spins, then stops. And then it spins again for maybe a minute, and during this time, the laser or track (whatever you want to call it) moves back and forth a good 5+ times. Then the spinning stops again and my computer spits out the CD. iTunes doesn't even attempt to open, and I've put in the CD with iTunes both open and closed to see if it would make a difference. I also tried resetting the PRAM and nothing changed. Any idea on what the problem is?

I'd like to copy and paste a few Gigs worth of photos residing in iPhoto (ver. 5?) to a flash card - is there a simple way to do this w/o the issue of "duplicate" image numbers (when they are in fact unique images, but the translation is lost)... thx

Tried doing this a few yrs ago and it was maddening, the receiving flashcard (or desktop) kept flagging duplicate image numbers and my only choice to was to delete one or replace, when - because they are unique images - I wanted all of them to be saved on disk (is there a way to auto rename to prevent this)??? Just tried to export photos and kept getting messages that a certain photo was corrupt or some such thing and then it stopped and did not continue with export. Frustrating as I spent hours moving ~1200 photos into 2 folders on desktop. Tried doing a few at a time and one always stopped the entire export. Is there a way around this? I.e., program so it exports photos that work, does not export those that are damaged? Would be nice to know before the fact (in moving to folder) that photos have issues. After several hours of inactivity, the tabs are blank with noway to tell them apart without clicking on them. also the menu bar is there but the words 'File Edit View History Bookmarks Tools Help' are blank. also the drop down menus are blank.

The links are there. I can click on them. I'm just can not see what I'm clicking on. The info on the tabs comes back but only when I click on that tab. rebooting every 24 hours fixes the problem temporarily.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
