No installers? No updated Apple Kb support docs?

I own a fall 2011 Mac Mini with 10.7 preinstalled.
I started repairing 10.7.x days before the new 10.8 was released and found out I was pooched from further using my 8th month old purchase the day after it was released. Dont know why except for the fact I start looking online with my functional NON MAC machine and see the forums all saying Apple removed all the Lion/Mountain Lion installs? What??
Repairs included erasing/formatting the internal drive which has previously been cloned to external HD using CCC.  I had to use an external dockable HD that was running 10.6 to erase and then trust in the Lion Recovery/internet recovery steps since my clone wasnt working (non bootable ? icon on startup). My mistake was not checking the clone prior to any problems that might arise (did). Every time I bought new macs in the past my very first move was to clone the thing straight out of the box for unquestionable functionality; also had checked CCC website for any caveats before starting all of this so went in confident and unconcerned.
I always checkmark all the slower 'checksum, verify, compare' options I find on all procedures as I always want a make-it-exactly-the-same procedure. All bytes were the same amounts and no errors; no idea why its not bootable and the outdated 'bless the folder' technique of decades ago did not work on it.
Lion Recovery HD did not work after reformat, so tried to ReClone back from the external anyways and tried again a Recovery HD startup (nope).  Second mistake was trusting Apple KBs and Macworld et al; they all had multiple ways of reaquiring/installing Lion and none of them worked.
I had downloaded the Lion Recovery Disk Assistant and the RecoveryHD files from Apple sitting on the side ready and both dont work unless you have perfectly fine, functional 10.7 running (pointless, or I missed the point of what they are for).
I followed every support.kb file I could find for my OS. They are now invalid by the fact Apple removed crucial files from App store and did not provide a new alternate plan to paying customers who needed those troubleshooting tools for operating again. FYI, I have tried the 'option click' the Purchases tab from just before and just after Apple's release of Mountain Lion, and it shows me NO record of having Lion and no means of re-downloading it.
I suspect without those tools/flags/records in the App Store, the System Update servers or in whatever invisible partition server they have somewhere, the above-downloaded tools will not find internet-authorization from Apple and refuse to function?
Apple seems drugged into believing that "Internet is THE ONLY WAY", with no disks anymore; I consider this an idiotic approach given the grief its given me. Nothing  software-based/net-based was functioning except when I put old 10.6 in the docking bay, and now none of the techniques even from Apple work because Apple took the tools away. There appears to be no new, current KB files talking about alternatives so Apples non-verbal, non-subtle message is what: ***** to be me? Buy a new computer and/or new OS? Arent you lucky you had another old drive that had an old OS from a different time working on it?
No matter what this all might read as, I did follow every step in the exact order given by Apple, Macworld, CCC, etc., instructions I printed off the internet ... time and again I was blocked because of something Apple did that invalidated it all. So now what? I had gone back to running 10.6 from an old machine and got into liking it again but its not what came with the machine... yet apple seems to have given me no choice and much hassle in the meantime. I DO NOT want to buy Mountain Lion because Apple is forcing me to. There shouldnt be this kind of hassle or problem from them or their gear; it sure isnt as reliable as it was in the past!
Update: I gave up late one night, inadvertantly left the gear all running and eventually the Internet Recovery DID kick in and install an odd version of Lion (its feels different/wrong from the installed version some how). It was sitting there running the next day. Creepy; dont know how. But it doesnt feel like the same brand new 10.7 as I had out of the box, like somethings are missing but its been long enough I dont remember what.
I still want to have both an installed version of 10.7 on a brand new blank dockable HD, and have every one of the above Apple tools in place IN CASE this happens again but still nothing shows when I click the Purchased tab in the App Store with OPTION key held down, nor do the downloaded tools work. Did Apple just give up on me and my account or what now? Trust ONLY the Internet Recovery from now on?
Isnt there a way to take the now-working internal HD Lion OS and make a bootable external AND clone AND backup? It isnt working the way Apple says its supposed to and only Internet Recovery seems to have worked... or is this all because they took down the installers and for some reason blocked my App Store option-click?

I have the same problem, from multiple browsers, so it looks like 9.2.2 is no longer available.  You can try asking in the Mac OS 7/8/9 forum and see if anyone there has any further information:

  • Updating Apple Application Support?

I installed iTunes 10 today - I had to uninstall my previous version as the installer program wouldn't download the new version properly, then reinstall using the download from the Apple website.
But now when I try to launch iTunes, I am faced with an error message saying:
"Apple Application Support version 1.2.1 is installed; iTunes requires Apple Application Support version 1.3.2 or later. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again."
I have uninstalled and reinstalled, but this still does not make the message go away. How can I update Applcation Support or download the newer version of it?

Attempting to uninstall the existing version of Apple Application Support (1.2.1 in your case) can sometimes give us a heads up on the nature of the problem with the new version installing.
Head into your Uninstall a program control panel and attempt to uninstall Apple Application Support. Do you get an error message? If so, what does it say? (Precise text, please)

  • Apple's match support docs.

    https://discussions.apple.com/community/itunes/itunes_match?view=overview
I've been AWOL for awhile, so you all may know this, but seems somewhere along the way, Apple has posted support docs that deal with many of the basic questions.  Some of these docs we've seen before, but some have been updated in the last 3 weeks.  Mor importantly, Apple has put them on the iTunes Match overview page, so hopefully more people will see them.

Anyone seen any troubleshooting guides for any of these glitches?  Most have been reported except I don't see much on the first one, which is most troubling to me:
    1)  Locked iPhone begins playing music randomly when Match is active (phone can be motionless, and shake to shuffle is off, anyway)
    2)  General sluggishness of non-iTunes apps and phone when Match active (with and w/o music playing)
    3)  General sluggishness of iTunes when Match active, slow stream start (but I'll give them that the stream is rarely interrupted once started)
    4) Album artist sorting doesn't work
    5) Album artwork comes and goes randomly

  • I tried updating to itunes 10.5 and now when i try to open itunes i get a message saying "Apple application support was not found" error 2 (windows error 2)

Ok so I went to update my itunes 9 to itunes 10.5 and now I get and error message "Apple application support was not found" error 2 (windows error 2) when ever I try to run itunes and iv been trying to fix this for like a month and let me tell you iTunes for windows is **** and I really want Icloud for my iphone 4 and yes iv tried uninstalling everything by apple in the correct order and reinstalling them after restart atleast honestly 20 - 30 times but nothing worked so if anyone can please help me I have windows 7 and a hp intel pentium computer

Install 7-Zip (free), or a free trial of WinRAR, and use one of them to extract the contents of the iTunesSetup.exe or iTunesSetup64.exe installer file, then try installing AppleApplicationSupport.msi as a standalone component. Even if it won't install you may get a more useful error message as to why not.

  • IOS 4.3.5 update failed (persistent error 1602) - Apple's Support steps don't work

    Hi guys,
So I seem to be having very bad luck with my iPod Touch, 4th Gen. What happened this time is pretty much what happened when I tried to update to 4.3.4, as described in this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3179905
So I got an error 1602 this time, I followed all the steps you find in the apple support page (ie, unninstalling and reinstalling everything in a particular order), only to have my iPod bricked once again. The computer doesn't recognize it at all, iTunes doesn't either. Entering DFU mode does nothing.
Last time, the solution was to connect my iPod to a friend's computer, and it restored it, then it worked again on my computer. But I'm not willing to keep asking that friend to use her computer just to restore my iPod after every iOS update, that's just unreasonable.
I'm hoping someone can help me find the better solution this time, so here are my logs:

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if AAS won't install normally.

  • HT201413 updated last night and now ipod says to coonect to itunes which i cant because apple application support was not found.  tells me to uninstall and reinstall itunes.  Will i lose all my music or is it still on my ipod?

Updated ipod last night and now when turned on tells me to coonect to itunes (picture of usb cable with arrow to itunes).  I can't connect to itunes on computer because apple application support can't be found.  Tells me to uninstall then reinstall itunes.  Will I lose all my music or is it still on my ipod?

Under normal circumstances, an uninstall/reinstall doesn't touch your content. (That being said, it's still always a good idea to maintain a current backup at all times in case of disasters.)

  • HT1923 I can´t reinstall itunes. I updated and after downloading the latest version and installing it the error message: "apple aplication support was not found. it is required to run itunes. uninstall and install again. Error 2

I bought an iphone 4s. After plugging it via usb to my computer itunes demanded to update version to 10.3 or higher. I uninstalled itunes, downloaded latest version (11.0.2) and during installation process on "activating services" it shows error message: "installation failed, verify administrator priviliges" which i have because i sign in as my pc administrator. I click on ignore and it tells me itunes has been succesfully instaled but when i try to run it it shows the error message: "apple application support was not found. It is required to run itunes. Uninstall and install itunes again. (which i have done several times) error 2 (windows error 2)." Someone please help me with this problem. Thanks.

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • I am trying to update my itunes but continue to get a error message after download is complete. The error is say that i need to have apple application support downloaded for the itunes to work. What do I do?? Shouldn't  apple application support be there?

I am trying to update my itunes on my pc. After the download in complete, there is an error message telling me that Apple Application Support needs to be installed for Itunes to work. What do I do?? I've already unistalled and install the download four times and installed WinRAR. Still no success.

These are the steps mentioned in the article iPhone: Troubleshooting activation issues
Perform the following steps if you receive one of the messages above:
    Restart the iPhone.
Try another means of reaching the activation server and attempt to activate.
Try connecting to a known-good Wi-Fi network if you're unable to activate using a cellular data connection.
Try connecting to iTunes if you're unable to activate using Wi-Fi.
    Restore the iPhone.
If you receive an alert message when you attempt to activate your iPhone, try to place the iPhone in recovery mode and perform a restore. If you're still unable to complete the setup assistant due to an activation error, contact Apple for assistance.
