No instance in sapmmc ?
Hi Guys,
I have restarted the sapxi system and found all the instances are missing under the sapmmc. I have the users with the option password never expires.
I found sapsid_00 missing in the services. How can i get this instance back into services. I have sappid_01 and saposcol services but sapsid_00 is missing.
whenver i try to start the sapsid_01 i am getting the error
DCOM interface error 80070424, the specified service does not exist as an installed service.
any help would be really appreciated
Thanks,
Raj

How to set instance number during installation?
We want to install PI 7.1 on the same host as solman 7.0 using multiple oracle homes.
The solman instance is 00. So will there be a conflict if the PI instance is also 00? If yes, how do we set the instance no. during installation? (During solman installation we did not come across any step where we had specifically entered the instance no...)
Additional info:
OS = Windows 2003 Server R2 Ent x64
Solman has both, ABAP and Java stacks active
ThanksHi Pankaj,
Thanks for your response.
It seems that sapinst itself detected our existing instances and assigned 02 and 03 for the PI instances.
We did not have to manually change the values. We have successfully completed the installation.
I am facing a new problem now. The solman instances cannot be seen in the sapmmc, only the PI instances are seen. The link is [here|Cant see instance in sapmmc after installation;. Let me know if you have the solution.
Thanks -

PuneetHi,
Please refer SAP Note [403708|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=403708] - Changing an IP address -
Dear All Gurus,
I have installed SAP ERP EHP7 Sybase on Windows Server 2008. But while starting SAP I found no Instance in SAPMMC. So I had added it through add/remove snap/in. But it is showing the error as shown in below screenshot. And afterwards I ran sapstartsrv.exe but it then asked for START profile which does not exist in EHP7. Please guide me through this problem to find exact solution. I had also updated version of SAPMMC to 3,0 & now service SAP<SID>_00 is also missing in services.Hi Sir,
The service SAP<SID>_01 is not running & its showing log on failure error. As well as the service SAP<SID>_00 is disabled in services. As well as when I run sapstartsrv.exe it is asking for the START profile but since it is EHP7 so there is no START profile. Kindly help.
Thanks,
Sarang. -
How can I change an "error" to "OK" in sapinst
I am installing Solution Manager Ehp1 and when sapinst gets to the step "Start Instance", it keeps erroring out. For some reason, when the instance starts, it isn't communicating this back to sapinst. But, I can start and stop the instance through SAPMMC so I want to bypass this step and go on to the next one. Can anyone tell me how to do that?
Back in the day....I used to be able to change the xml file from "error" to "okay". It doesn't seem to be that easy now.
thanks,
PeggyHi,
Restart sapinst with below parameter
./sapinst SAPINST_SKIP_ERRORSTEP=true

Hi Experts,
I am trying to install sap IDES ECC 6 EhP 7 from scratch. Everything was doing well but I got an error on starting instance. SAPMMC Console Process disp+work.EXE do not change from status: "Server in State STARTING" (Yellow). I have been searching and most of the problem is related to Kernel. I upgraded Kernel to the latest version: SAPEXEDB_101-20012221.SAR and SAPEXE_101-20012222.SAR. I also check my host file and set my IP address with my computer name. I check logs dev_disp and dev_w0 but I am not able to see the error. I am installing IDES into Virtual Machine, Windows 7, SQL Server 2012, 8 Gb memory.
Best Regards.
David C.

Phase MAIN_SHDRUN/ACT_UPG hanging?
<h5>
I am upgrading from NW 7.0 Enhancement Package 1 (7.01) using SAPEhpi. The SAPEhpi tools shows that the ABAP progress has status RUNNING 'Executing phase MAIN_SHDRUN/ACT_UPG', and J2EE progress has status WAITING 'Waiting for synchronization event PREPUPTIME=FINISHED'. The status has been the same for the last three days. I understand that long run times are not unusual for this phase, but I have my doubts due to the below circumstances.
<h5>
The shadow instance and standard instance is installed on the same server. I got lots of activation errors '8' in phase MAIN_SHDRUN/ACT_UPG as seen from Filepath:...\EHPI\abap\log\SAPehpiConsole.log
<h5>
Checks after phase MAIN_SHDRUN/ACT_UPG were negative!
<h5>
Last error code set: Process 'tp.exe' exited with 8, see
'C:\SAP_Download\EHPI\abap\tmp\MSGOUT.LOG' for details Check logfiles
'ACTUPG.ELG' and 'C:\SAP_Download\EHPI\abap\log\SAPehpi.ECO'
01) - Repeat phase ACT_UPG to continue at the point it stopped
02) * Initialize phase ACT_UPG to restart it from the beginning
03) - Accept non-severe errors and repeat phase ACT_UPG
04) - Exit this program
Choose action: Initialize phase ACT_UPG to restart it from the beginning
<h5>
>> 2009/11/21 05:20:35 START OF PHASE MAIN_SHDRUN/ACT_UPG
<h5>
running C:\SAP_Download\EHPI\abap\exe\tp.exe pf=C:\SAP_Download\EHPI\abap\bin\SHADOW.TPP checkimpdp AII
Collecting adjustments ...
<h5>
<h5>
But before i initialized the phase ACT_UPG I realised that the shadow instance was unable to connect to the message server. The disp+work was yellow with message 'could not connect to message server'. The DEFAULT.PFL profile for the shadow instance showed the following parameter for the message server: rdisp/msserv = 3607. So I changed the DEFAULT.PFL of the shadow instance to point to the message server of the standard instance. The standard instance nr. = 5, while the shadow instance nr. = 7.
<h5>
rdisp/mshost = turin-1
<h5>
rdisp/msserv = sapmsAII
<h5>
rdisp/msserv_internal = 3905
<h5>
I restarted the shadow instance using SAPMMC for Windows and the message server was then green. I chose to Initialize phase ACT_UPG as option 02) * Initialize phase ACT_UPG to restart it from the beginning.
<h5>
After this decision I can not see any entries in any logs in EHPI directories except the below log. No action for 3 days now, still waiting.....I can log on to the shadow instance using DDIC user but for other users I get message that 'Upgrade still running: Logon not possible'.
<h5>
Any ideas? How can I really determine if the upgrade is still running?

I was able to continue the upgrade by resetting the DEFAULT.PDF profile with original message server: rdisp/msserv = 3607 information, and restart the shadow instance.
<h5>
Had to follow other forum advice and disregard activation errors in ACT_UPG phase.
<h5>
But the shadow instance disp+work is still not able to connect to the message server, even if I can see that the message server is running green for the shadow instance. There must be something wrong with the parameters in the DEFAULT.PDF profile. Can someone please post an example for a DEFAULT.PDF profile so that I can compare the content?
<h5>
Hopefully I will not get stuck later in the upgrade process? -

Hi all,
When i execute ST06 transaction code, it's not showing any enteries under 'cpu utilization'. saposcol is running.
We have upgraded SAP from ECC 5.0 to ECC 6.0 and the version of saposcol is 700 with patch level 113.
How do i solve this problem?
Thanks and Regards,

sowmya kHi,
First stop the sap instance by sapmmc and also check if database is stopped or not or manualy stop it.
then , If its a windows OS, then stop the "saposcol" by logging into the server and got ot services by "services.msc" and right click on "saposcol" and stop it.
also stop the "sap igs" and "server" services.
In linux , we have to follow a procedure to stop the services by using :-
kill -9 <PID> - before this check the "PID" by typing "ps -ef | grep <service name>
For futher reference refer :-

After change exchangeProfile, should SQLserver be re-started?
Hi,
We restarted the j2ee from smicm. However
the change seems did not become effective.
Should we re-start the SQL server DB?
Where to look the log file to make sure
that DB has been re-started?
Please help. Points guaranteed.Dear Jennifer Lee,
>> so the procedure is stop the instance on sapmmc
In the Command Prompt - stopsap ( if we do it it automatically stops the DB )
>> then start the instance on the sapmmc?
In the Command Prompt - startsap_hostname_instance number
>>stop the DB on SQL server enterprise manager
a)Logging in Operating system level ( as root)
b)From tool called - BRtools stop the instance.
>>location of the log that
shows the DB restarted?
In the Event view you can find it.

Dialog queue Standstill after applying Java Initial configuration
Hi All,
I am installing NW 7.11 PI and after running Java Initial configuration with j2ee_admin user the system is not starting anymore.
On SAP MMC I notice the "message server connected ok" message and java process is starting.
Then it stops and I see message "Dialog queue standstill" and the system stops.
I can start oracle without issues but when I run R3trans -d I get Ora 1017 error.
I checked all notes regarding this error (400241, 1410573, etc) but no luck. I can connect to orace using sapsr3/<password>/@<SID> without issues. But on trans.log file I see the message that OPS$ can not connect even if I reset the password to default "sap".
It seems to me that tje problem is related to some issue with the Java instance but am not sure.
Please can any body help me out ?
Thanks and best regards,
JoaoHi Pranay,
In fact not. The abap instance is also stopped. BTW, it is on Windows 2008 and oracle 11.2.
When I stat the instances on sapmmc, i see on process list the disp+work.exe running, the message server connection ok and it tries to start the AS Java. Then I got that message "Dialog queue standstill"and then it stops.
I can not attach the complete dev_disp and dev_server0 files because they are too long.
See part of the dev_disp below.
I will send the dev_server0 in another query.
thanks very much for your help.

Hi to all
Please, help me with the following issue:

Dario Rodriguez.Hi, I have a similar problem. I tried to connect to SAP Server from my PC and I couldn't do it, I went to the server and it was restarted (maybe a power failure). I opened the MMC and 2 of my instances had disappeared (of 3 instances).
When windows 2003 server starts it shows the next message:
<i>At least one service or driver failed during system startup. Use Event Viewer to examine the event log for details.</i>
I opened the services and looked for the sap services, one was stopped <i>SAPR36_00</i> then I tried to start it and the following message appears:
<i>Could not start the SAPR36_00 service on Local Computer.
Error 5: Access is denied.</i>
I have read the SAP Notes 82751 and 142100. I checked both share folders permissions SAPMNT or SAPLOC. I also checked the that the SAPSTARTSRV.EXE has the permissions of the user that start the service.
I did what Arun VK says but when I run SAPSTART.EXE, it doesn't show anything. I also check the dll files and i didn't find <i>librfc32.dll</i> in my server.
Someone can help me with this problem I would really appreciate it. -
SAPMMC Java instance not able to start
Hi All,
I have installed CE.7.1 version yesterday after installing the same
In SAPMMC Java instance -xxxx00) and the central services instance xxxxx01 both have been started.
But when I am trying today java instance which is -xxxx00 is not able start.
Here we can see 2 process 1 is Jstart.Exe (As java) which is showing status as stopped
Where as igswd.exe which is showing running.
So here problem is Jstart.Exe (As java) is not able to start.
Can you suggest me what should I do to activate the same?
Regards
IshikeshHi Ishiikesh,
Please check and update JAVA_HOME system enviromental variable in my computer (My computer > Priperties >> Advance >> Startup and Recovery >> Enviromental Variable >> System Variables >> Add new JAVA_HOME parameter with path for installed Java JDK)
Also please check database server services (Start > Run > Services.msc >> Start your database services manually and change properties as automatic)
Then try to re-start the server.
Hope it helps
Regards
Arun
