No internal CA - do we need to purchase all Lync certs?

Hi,
We're rolling out a pretty small environment...one Standard Edition server, one Persistent Chat server, and one Edge.
I understand the cert on the external interface of the Edge will need to be from a publicly trusted CA, and all the others I've read can just come from your internal CA. We don't have an internal CA here. Are we going to need to purchase
all of them? Is it cost/time prohibitive to create an internal CA?
They did give me a wildcard cert that's used all over the network. I put it on the Standard Edition and the green check mark showed up in the Deployment Wizard despite me reading all over that it should not work there. Will there be issues
in the future if I left it there?

Hi Brandon,
It is correct that your public interface need a cert from a public issued CA.
If you don't have (and don't want) an internal CA for the other certificate requirements, then yes you would need to purchase them.
Installing the CA role takes about 5 minutes and is a role that can just be added to any Windows Server (if it's Windows Server 2008R2, it needs to be Enterprise or Datacenter edition).
Be sure you select Enterprise CA as the option (not standalone) to ensure ease of root certificate distribution to the network.

Aside form the limitation of LTE to the 700MHz and 2.1GHz bands (which rules out LTE in Europe I gather, at least as it stands now) the new iPad should let you use a GSM 3g/2g/edge network anywhere. The CDMA Verizon model will only be able to use it's native CDMA radio band in the USA (that radio will be locked to Verizon), but it's international GSM radio is the same as the AT&T model.
Keep in mind though that by far the cheapest option when abroad is to take advantage of free wifi as much as possible (well, that is always the cheapest option, since it is free). I know several people who have taken their wifi-only iPads and iPad2s to Europe and said they did not find the lack of 3G really inconvenient at all as most towns had plenty of free or cheap wifi access all over the place.
And in 3 years, your iPad will be at least 2-3 generations behind, LTE will have already been replaced by 5G or whatever the next new generation of cellular ends up being named (and the "young" kids will be wondering what the heck 3G even means or meant - dang that stuff was from the olden days!), and you can pitch that ancient piece of technology and start things all over again

You may not need to buy a new Time Capsule.
You can connect a USB drive to the Time Capsule, and use it in addition to the TC's internal HD. You may need a powered USB hub as well.
Exactly what is on your TC? If it's only Time Machine backups, you may not need to do anything -- Time Machine will delete the oldest backup(s) automatically when it needs room for new ones. But if you have more than about 250 GB on your internal HD, that 500 GB may not be large enough to keep backups long enough.
If you have other data on the TC's internal HD, besides your backups, you could back up to the external HD and use the internal for the other data, or vice-versa. But TM backups cannot "span" two drives, and you shouldn't mix backups and other data on the TC's internal HD.

I'd suggest getting some advertisers to pick up the slack, otherwise you're stuck spending over 11K. The other option is signing up for a free Acrobat account, but you can only distribute one folio at a time, which I could see working if you're distributing some internal collateral. That's my $.02.

You are confusing two different versions of the iMovie app. You have downloaded an update to the boxed version that Apple sold in the past. Yoi cannot update the version that Apple now sells in the Mac App Store with that update.

I bought a used MacBook Pro, I plan on restoring to factory settings, do I need original purchaser apple id?

So, I bought a used MacBook Pro (April 2010) today and I plan on restoring it to factory settings. I saw on a video of a factory restore that it will prompt for an apple id of the original purchaser. Now, I did find a buried thread on the subject and the answer was that I will need to purchase OSX. Not sure if this is true or there are more details than that. If this answer is correct, would the computer automatically recognize that my apple id has a purchased copy? Also, on another video I saw that discs such as the OSX and iLife are required. So in a nutshell I have no idea on how to go about this factory restore deal. This will be my first mac purchase so bear with me. If I havent been detailed enough let me know, ill try to explain better. Thanks!!

Do you have the original installation discs that came with the computer? If so you only need to boot from the disc, erase the hard drive, then install Snow Leopard.

You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.

If I get the photography plan does it come with phone gap build (the 25 private apps) or do I need to purchase them seperately

I have been using the phone gap build service and I noticed that the plans page links to the Creative Cloud plans as well (the ? in the top right). I was wondering if I get the photoshop/lightroom plan if I get access to the paid phone gap build service or if I need to purchase that as well?

Phone Gap is not part of the photography bundle. Why should it? You do not get Dreamweaver or Flash to actually build content for Phone Gap, only PS and LR.

Check with your carrier about roaming charges. They are usually prohibitive. Best to get a local SIM.

If you mean you are trying to play a file and the QT icon with a quesion mark appears in the display area, then this means the play has reached a programming disjunction and doesn know what to do—i.e., the player recognizes the content but something is preventing proper playback is telling the user it has a question as to how the content is to be played. In such cases you normally have to determine what content, what file container, and which player version is involved before you can decide how to best fix the problem.

As I understand the as yet unconfirmed rumor by me, is that once you pay for a single copy of Lion, every computer you have that's authorized under your Apple ID can download it, no limit on number.
