No Internet access after VPN disconnect

Several of my users have reported that when they disconnect from the VPN, they have no web access without restarting the computer. We're using version 3.8.16. Is this a known issue? Is there a way around this without having to restart the computer? Thanks for any help you can give.

  • No internet access after hard reset.

I hit the hard reset button on my router and now my computer & other devices can not access the internet. I can connect to my router but have no internet. It was working fine earlier today until it was hard reseted.
I ran windows troublshoot and I got: 'The network gateway is accessible, but Windows couldn't receive network traffic from the internet."
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

All my devices finally gained internet access after again hard reseting my router and then power cycling my modem, router, and pc. Thanks Eddie 956for not giving up on yourself!

  • No internet access after bootup on some clients.

    Hi,
Some of our client pc's do not have internet access after bootup in the morning. The quick solution is to login as administrator disable & re-enable the network adapter and than everything is fine for a few more days. There is nothing showing up in the
event viewer and it doesn't always happen.
Can anyone advise on how best to track down the problem?
    Thanks.

Cheers, I noticed that the DHCP role is installed but the service has stopped. When I start it, it stopped straight away.
I think that's because the router has an ip address of 192.168.0.1 and sbs server currently has an ip address of 192.168.0.10. Do I have to change the router ip address to something else and set the server to 192.168.0.1?

  • No internet access after 7.2.1 Firmware Update

I can not get internet access after performing this Firmware Update. I have a green light on my Airport Extreme, and in the System Preferences Network pane it states that I am connected to the internet via Airport. Has anyone else had this problem and been able to resolve it?
I have a cable modem and have reset it several times. I have also uploaded the firmware update again. I've tried to go back to the previous version of the firmware but it does not seem to be available anywhere, and does not show up as an option in the Airport Utility using Manual Set Up option.

I have the same problem. ATT DSL modem. Updated my firmware and lost all connectivity. If I bypass the AEBS, it works just fine. Also lost my Apple TV in iTunes after the update. Frustrating!
Let me know if you figure it out.

  • No Internet Access thru VPN w/ Windows 8.1

I had VPN working with Internet access & then all of a sudden it stopped working.  I suspect one of the Windows AUTO update changed something that made it stop working, but can not be sure.
Per other blogs: I tried to temporary disable firewall and antivirus program on Windows 8.
Furthermore, tried to right click your VPN connection---properties---Networking---IPv4 or IPv6---Properties---Advanced---IP settings---Use default gateway on remote network.
Nothing worked.  When VPN has no Internet connection - I can still successfully ping 8.8.8.8 in CMD window.
Next thing I suppose is to post RAS traces??  But I'm not sure which log file I should post.
    Please help.

    Thanks for your reply.
I have Windows auto update & the last time it worked was months ago (but not sure which version).
Yes, if I ping 8.8.8.8, I get response, but I cannot connect to internet when I try to browse.  In response to your questions:
    1.  I tried ping www.google.com, and I got "Ping request cannot find host www.google.com" message.
    2. Yes, by no internet access I meant I cannot browse the internet.
    3. No, I don't use any IE proxy server.

  • No Internet access after setting up time capsule

I am setting an airport time capsule. After setting up new network, I no longer have Internet access and can not set up the time capsule. I have tried to cycle the power on my model but no luck. Any ideas?

Disconnect all connections from the Time Capsule except the AC power cord.
With the Time Capsule powered on for a few minutes, hold in the reset button on the back of the device for 10-12 seconds and release
Allow a full minute for the Time Capsule to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <--> ports on the Actiontec modem/router to the WAN "O" port on the Time Capsule
    Open up AirPort Utility
    Click on Other WiFi Devices
    Click on Time Capsule
The utility will display a window that looks similar to the illustration below, excep that there will be a picture of the Time Capsule instead of an AirPort Express
Network Name......Enter a name that you want to call the wireless network
Base Station Name....Enter a name that you want to call the Time Capsule
Password......Enter a password that will be used for both the wireless and device name
    Verify the password
    Click Next
When you see the the message of Setup Complete, click Done
Now you can select the new network that you created and enter the password to connect
Try to keep the Actionec modem/router and Time Capsule at least 6-8 feet (or 2 meters) apart from each other to help minimimize the chances of wireless interference between them.

  • DirectAccess stuck Connecting after VPN disconnect?

We use OpenVPN for our VPN clients coupled with DirectAccess for transparent domain access on Windows 8.1. If I boot a client it connects to DA and everything works as it should. When I connect to OpenVPN on the same client, DA immediately changes to a "Connecting
..." state and stays there, even after I disconnect from the VPN.
If I run a netsh interface httpstunnel show interface it shows a
0x274c failed to connect to the IP-HTTPS server. Waiting to reconnect.
The DirectAccess Client Troubleshooter fails at the IP Connectivity, Infrastructure Tunnel, and User Tunnel Tests.
However, I can access the directaccess server just fine on port 443, even via a web browser.
I've tried restarting the IPHelper service and the IKE service, but DA eventually reverts to the same 0x274c error. The only way to clear it is to reboot the client.
The log from the DA Troubleshooter shows that NLS thinks it's "internal" I believe, as the IsExternal and GetNLS return the internal FQDN of the DA server and try to connect to that, then throw an error 503. Almost everything after that in the
    log also fails, of course.
I'm at a loss as to how to solve this.

I found the following KB article, which has helped a little but still hasn't resolved the inability for my client to re-connect after disconnecting from the VPN.
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee809093.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
If I set those two registry entries, a netsh interface httpstunnel show interface
now properly reports that I have "other corporate connectivity available" when I connect to the VPN. A netsh dnsclient show state
also properly detects whether I am inside or outside the corporate network.
However, I still cannot achieve a DirectAccess client re-connection after disconnecting from the VPN. The httpstunnel still reports a 0x274c, failed to connect to the IPHTTPS server. Waiting to reconnect.
I don't see anyting in the Event Viewer on either the client or the server, so I'm not sure  where to look next to continue troubleshooting.
Note - the client seems to have full connectivity to the DA server. I can run a Test-NetConnection -Port 443 -ComputerName da.myserver.com and it is successful. I can ping the hostname da.myserver.com and all 4 replies are successful.
I noticed that if I run an ipconfig on the client, the Tunnel adapter iphttpsinterface states "Media disconnected."
    Can anyone assist?

  • No internet access after 10.1 update

After downloading the 10.1 update to my Z10 my phone could not get Internet access through the network, although wifi still worked. Telus tech support had no idea what was wrong, and we found that the apn field in network settings was blank and could not be typed in manually. He said I might need to send my phone in for repairs. He called me back the next day to say this problem has come up for some people since the update and for a workaround to restore the phone to factory settings. However, if you turn your phone off the problem will come back so you can't turn off or restart your phone. I restored my phone and got Internet back over the network. Hopefully blackberry will have an update to fix this problem soon, I don't know how long I can go without having to turn off or restart my phone. Anyone else familiar with or experiencing this problem?

Hi man, I updated 3day ago my Z10 and I have the same problem I think. From time to time I get no internet connection by low or full mobile network. It has no reason, It´s just happened. Just like you wrote, reset or turning off/on the mobile helps not. But I don´t want reset my phone to factory default :-/ .
I hope Blackberry tech support works allready on this problem!!!
Come on Blackberry I need to work with my Z10 without problems!

  • All my apple device has no internet access after connect to my house's wifi.

After connecting my apple ipad to my wifi, it show that there is no internet access. But my laptop can connect it and also use my wifi with internet access. My router is Wireless-G. Why can't I use my wifi????

    Hi nkarthikeyan ,
You're right, in the behind configuration, there aren't any NAT configured for the simple reason which's Firewall is on production on another site and users must to connect to our Intranet to working properly so until I found a solution, I do some tests only with one desktop located on site...
I tried to add this command on my configuration but when I do it, I lost connection with computer of my site of ZAG ...
ASA5505-ZAG(config)# nat (inside, outside) source dynamic any interface
Also, I tried this configuration but without success also :/
    for no-nat

    object network Trafic_vpn_MainSite_L2L1

    nat (inside,outside) source static ZAG_L2L ZAG_L2L destination static Trafic_vpn_MainSite_L2L2 Trafic_vpn_MainSite_L2L2
And to finish my questions, can you explain me this point please :
Also you need to place your real ip address in interface ACL's instead of NATed ip address...
    Thanks for your support !
    I really appreciate it !

  • Why no internet access after Safari reinstallation (router does)?

Since yesterday I have a massive problem I hope someone can help me out.
To start with I couldn´t email attachments since a few months. Yesterday I thought a re-installation of Safari (browser recommended by the provider) might cure that as I thought recent upgrades (recommended by apple to install) caused that problem which was not there last year.
So I downloaded Safari from apple.com. From that on I can´t get any internet access anymore (only a few minutes after the first start, then never again), even after spending 40 minutes on my providers extremely expensive hotline no solution (other than that the friendly lady told me to contact this forum). My router has internet access, and the cable between router and my Mac is definetely fine, but when I open the internet-access window, the connection immiadetely crashes always.
I checked network utilities and found no failure, I tried different ways of access via the network settings, nothing works. I assume it has something to do with the re-installation of Safari, but why on earth should the standard Safari 1.2-version from Apples own website create such a mess?
Shall I install firefox? Shall I dump the Safari-version installed yesterday and install a copy of the updated version from my office computer instead? What else could cause the problem? Are my network settings wrong? Should I log in via "manual" or DHCP (the provoders hotline told me I should re-type PPP settings. Though that is clearly to see a no-option with Ethernet she kept telling me so. Isn´t PPP only for modem-connection?), or via PPoE? Or shall I re-install the router?
I would be more than glad if someone could help me.

    I-Mac 20"   Mac OS X (10.3.2)

We can keep it in English as its an english speaking forum and therefore non-germans who might have the same problem could participate. If for you German is better I´m fine with it. Most settings on my Mac are in German so if it becomes too specific, german is anyway necessary.
    Thanks,

  • No internet access after virus removed

MacAfee anti virus removed a Trojan (zeroaccess) after which my desktop computer lost ability to connect to the internet. MacAfee told me to contact my ISP after we did various tests that confirmed that the computer does not connect to the internet (i.e., "ping test"?).  Other computer in the house connects to FIOS internet wirelessly with no problem.  I don't think that the problem is with FIOS or the router but is due to changes in programs caused by the virus. Is this something that Verizon can help with or not? MacAfee wants to access my computer remotely to repair damage done by the virus but without internet access they can't help me.

Make sure you have no proxies.  Virus's often create proxy settings and that is usually what kills your connection.
Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Internet Explorer.
Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
Click the Connections tab, and then click LAN settings.
Make sure nothing has checkmarks there.
    Afterwards,
Using the ping command to test the connection between your computer and the router or gateway
Using the ping command to verify your Internet connection
Post back the results.   Also let us know if you are wired, or wireless

  • No internet access after restart - msi RG300ex lite

I just bought an msi RG300ex lite wireless router. Right off, the instruction manual is essentially worthless. I am trying to secure my connection which it seems there are 2 ways of doing this: through the wireless wizard or through the set-up tool page (wireless set-up). Problem is, once I do the set-up it works, but it the router is plugged out and turned back on my internet connection says no internet access. I then have to go through the internet wizard to get a connection again. What am I doing wrong, since the instruction manual does not mention anything about securing the wireless connection? I see there is wpa-psk and etc. The wizard chose wpa-psk2 I believe. Through a check on my windows 7 properties of the wireless connection the security type doesn't list any psk, I only see wpa personal, wpa2 enterprise. To tell you the truth I have no idea what the issue is. If you can provide me with a step by step would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Here's is the info, it may not be with the router itself, but the router contrasting with the modem. I open the box with the new MSI wifi and plug it into the modem. Computer(s) see connection and it is open with internet access.  I connect and enter 192.168.0.1 into browser and screen appears showing "set up tool", "internet wizard" and "wireless wizard". I select wireless wizard, enter admin name and pass., USA, write a name in SSID which it checks for duplicates, select best channel, choices appear ( WEP, WPAPSK/WPA2PSK, and No Wireless Security), I choose WPAPSK/WPA2PSK (thus far tried them all), select next and more choices appear: AES, TKIP, I choose AES, Enter a network key (which I make up of course),  then select finish and save and close. Sweet, everything is working. Try 3 different computers, everything is perfect. The chosen wifi connection reads "internet access. To test it, I then unplug the "router" from the wall, because this is what I normally do whenever I leave home anyway, and plug it back in and the wifi connection is visible but the it says "no internet access" when I connect to it. I then have to enter 192.168.0.1 into the browser again, select internet wizard, two choices appear: "Automatic Internet configuration (Wizard will search Internet connection type automatically. DHCP or PPPoE modem can be detected.)" and "Manual Internet configuration", I choose automatic. It then says: "Physical connection of Internet(WAN) port is OK.
    If external modem exists,
reboot the modem and check a Link/Sync/Online LED of modem.
if this LED is on and doesn't blink,
then you can process the next step by clicking 'Next' button."
The is not blinking so I select next. It then says "Detecting Internet service type. Please wait a minute." Then "Internet is ready! DHCP", and everything is working again. However, why must I go through all of this each time? I never had to do any such thing with my last Belkin Router with the same modem, though unfortunately the router had a short or something after years of use and died. Help me please.

  • No Internet access after blackout since July 1, 2012

After blackout on July 1, 2012 I don't have Internet access at home. How can I fix this?

    vanative1 wrote:
I called on 7/3 about the service outage (I'm in North Reston and my DSL has been out since the storm), and after finally navigating through the phone help menus, was able to speak with a tech support rep.  He checked the pending open service tickets and stated that the DSL service is out due to the power outage in the Arlington area, so until that is restored, no DSL. He did not provide an estimate of when that would be restored.  While frustrating, I understand that some are still without power so trying hard not to complain, but it is puzzling that an outage in Arlington would affect DSL service in Reston--seems like an odd connection.
It's possible some key equipment is found in a CO in Arlington, especially if it is nearby. It could also be possible you're coming out of that central office too, as areas such as mine often have a CO serving 5-6 different towns. My CO serves two cities, and two towns along with I believe an entire island. One of the cities is getting FiOS from that same CO. Easily a good 15-25 mile stretch in service area from my CO.
Who knows. If Verizon is acknowledging an issue, the service should come back up once they are able to bring gear back online. It's a GOOD thing that they are.

  • Lost internet access after 10.10.2 update

Since the OSX 10.10.2 update my iMac (late 2008) can't access the internet anymore.
    This is what happend:
Due to the incorrect installation of the OSX 10.10.2 update I had to reinstall OSX from the recovery disk. The installation went smoothly and OSX 10.10.2 is now installed.
    The Problem:
The system can't connect to the internet anymore. From my Wi-Fi router (Fritzbox) the iMac gets an IP address and it is also possible to access the routers GUI via web browser by entering the router IP. If i enter a www. address in my web browser (Firefox) i'm getting the message "no internet access". The same thing happens with other browsers or programs which want access on the Internet. But My MacBook and Windows PC can easily access on the internet, so i can exclude a problem with the router or modem.
Here's what I've tried, without success:
    - Disabled OSX firewall
    - Little Snitch deactivated
    - Disabled Avira Antivirus
    - Enter the IP address instead of www in your web browser
    - Hosts file in /private/etc deleted
    - Restarted the router, modem and iMac
    - Go through OSX Network Diagnostics
    - Reinstalled OSX 10.10.2 i
    - Little Snitch completely uninstalled
    - Connected the iMac directly to the router via LAN cable
    - Various alternative DNS server (Google, openDNS)
    - The DNS cache emptied via terminal command
    - deleted all preference files in Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration containing "wifi", "network", "nat", "preferences" and "airport"
All of these things didn't help at all and no web browser or other program is able to access the internet. Any ideas what to do further?
