No internet access, wifi is on

Hi,
I've just got my 1st BB 9300. Data Services is turned off, wifi recognised (in Manage Connections my network is ticked and network name displayed in home menu. However cannot browse internet at all.
When Data Services is on browser works fine. But I don't want the charges, of course.
As suggested by a post, I tried changing my router to WPA2-SPK but this has not worked. Any suggestions please? I bought this BB to browse on wifi in europe but mainly in UK.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

You MUST leave Data Services to ON for browsing to work (even on Wifi).
The device will automatically use Wifi (if both Wifi and Carrier data are available).
The only way to ensure only wifi data is being used it to turn your Mobile Network to off. (You won't receive any calls or SMS).

  • No internet access wifi connected

I have had this problem several times, where the IPAD seems connected to the wifi network, passwords and all are correct, but when accessing safari or mail, I get a message unable to connect to internet. The IP address statrs with 169 and Isee from previous discussion threads that that is a problem, but I do not see how to correct the problem.  This has happened more than once and each time I have had to just not use the IPAD until it corrects itself, that has been a whole week in the past.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

If this keeps happening you may have another problem.  Sometimes you have wifi but no internet because of an iOS DNS error.  What your phone is doing is being clever and being wrong!  iOS will setup DNS when you connect to your wifi, but it gets cute and will sometimes point to a device on your local network for DNS instead of a DNS server outside of your network.  The real problem is that when the local DNS fails, iOS doesn't go to the next DNS server in the list.
The fix:  (from the setting menu choose wifi then do the following:
    1. select your network and choose forget this network
    2. rejoin your network, then tap the blue icon
    3. scroll down to DNS and delete any local entries (usually start with 192.168. etc)
If you don't have any DNS listed, then add one.  You can use any free public dns or setup your own at www.opendns.org.  Google uses 8.8.8.8
Good luck and spread the word.  Maybe someday this issue will be fixed.

  • Is it possible to be connected with a 3G modem for internet access and a WiFi router for printer sharing at the same time?

For our only internet access we have a 3G wireless modem. I have since purchased a WiFi printer and router to connect all the comptuters to in the house. The PCs have no problem with using both the 3G connection and the WiFi signal at the same time to print, however, the MacBook Pro will not connect to the 3G network and the router, it will drop the internet access from the modem and attempt to connect via WiFi (which has no internet access). Is there a solution that is available to remedy this? I attempted to create an adhoc printer network, however, the macbooks again will not print off of this, only the PCs. And I'm getting a bit frustrated overall with this.

The 3G wireless modem is on one of the PC's correct?
Why don't you pass the Internet through the Ethernet port to the router via Cat5 cable, then have that transmit a Wifi signal that everything else can use, then connect the printer to the router for print sharing?
You would have to turn off the wifi on the comptuer with the 3G modem as it's physically connected to the router and can't connect to the other machines as they are all connected to the router for sharing.
The Mac has the ability to pass, Internet Sharing in the System Preferences.
Do you have software for the Mac to run the 3G modem?

  • "No internet access" on Guest Wifi

We upgraded our router the other day, we made a backup as well as a txt copy of the config file for copying in various commands to the new router .
We have a Secure wifi for employees and a Guest wifi for visitors. We have a server doing the DHCP(10.27.131.8) for both the secure (10.27.131.0 network) and for the Guest (10.26.131.0 network). The Secure wifi is working as it should be - the Guest however is not. Visitors can connect and get a valid IP address from the 10.26.131.0 network but have no internet access. Everything else has stayed the same - no changes to the AP's.
Again we copied the config from the old to the new with a few minor changes but nothing that should effect the Guest wifi.
I did an ipconfig after connecting to the Guest Wifi and I can get a correct IP address 10.26.131.214, Default GW: 10.26.131.1.
I enclosed the config from my router is anybody could shed some light,
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I also apologize for my late answer.
I appears your ACL 101 that filters traffic entering the Fa0/1.20 is not correctly written to allow DHCP requests to be processed by the router. The attempt has been made - but it is not correct. In particular, check out the second entry in the ACL 101:
access-list 101 permit udp any host 10.27.131.8 eq bootps
It allows all DHCP messages that are already targeted to 10.27.131.8, the DHCP server. However, such targeted DHCP messages may be used by clients only after they know who the DHCP server is in the first place. Until then, the requests are targeted to 255.255.255.255 and sourced from 0.0.0.0. Such packets are not allowed by any entry in the ACL 101 and are therefore dropped even before the DHCP Relay Agent can process them. That would explain why your clients actually cannot obtain IP address via DHCP in VLAN 20.
We need to add the following entry immediately before or after the existing second entry in the ACL 101:
access-list 101 permit udp any host 255.255.255.255 eq bootps
You may accomplish this by the following sequence of commands directly pasted into the global configuration:
    ip access-list resequence 101 10 10
    ip access-list extended 101
15 permit udp any host 255.255.255.255 eq bootps
    end
The first line will cause the individual entries of the ACL 101 to be internally numbered, starting with the sequence number 10 and incrementing by 10 for each subsequent entry. The second line enters the ACL 101, treating it as a named ACL, allowing us to use the extended editing features. Finally, the third line starting with the sequence number 15 will cause the entry to be added between the existing first (seq no 10) and second (seq no 20) entry. It must be entered including the sequence number, otherwise the line will be added at the end of the ACL.
Would you mind trying out this modification? The former corrections with the NAT I have described earlier must be applied as well.
    Best regards,
    Peter

  • Can no longer access internet on Wifi, 3g works fine

For some reason, my iPhone 4 has stopped getting internet access when on wi fi. It gets on the network fine, and all other devices have no problem with this wi-fi connection (Airport Extreme). The phone gets on the web fine w/3G. I've reset everthing, and even restore the phone's software. Weird. HAve reset, restored, etc. Any Ideas?

on the iPhone, go into settings>wifi, then click on your wifi network. Go to "dns" and replace whatever is there with the numbers "8.8.8.8"
If that doesn't work, there may be something going on with your Airport.Reset the Airport to factory settings and reset it up

  • I created a wireless network with my Time Capsule but would like to connect this network to a WiFi Hotspot for Internet Access

I have created a Wirelss Network at home with the Time Capsule and would like to connect this network to the Internet.
I can't use LAN Cable to connect to it anything becasuse I usually use the WiFi that runs through my building.
Can I connect the Time Capsule to the WiFi hotspot somehow so that all computers on my network have Internet access and if so, what do I need?
I need this done because the computers can only be connected to either the WiFi network or to my Time Capsule Network at any given time.
Or is there a way to be connected to both networks simultaneously?
I have two PC's and two Macs.
Thank you for any support and I apologise for my ignorance. I am not too good with networking.
I have tried the silliest of things like connecting a router to the TC only to then realise that the TC had an inbuilt router.
I tried connecting a USB WiFI adapter to the USB Port on the TC but it doesnt detect it that way apparently.
    Please help!

    I have a kinda same problem @ https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3531642

  • To use a router to set up a local wifi network. Would this system be suitable to use with an Apple TV or is internet access require

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Yes, that will be fine providing you don't want to play any protected content.

You might want to try resetting your router and your modem - just unplug the cords, leave them unplugged for about 3-5 minutes and then replug the modem and then the router in that order.
This may or may not correct your problem - call back if it doesn't.

  • I'm connected to the wifi at home but no internet access. i was surfing on the same wifi without any problems. and also this issue is for other wifi network.

    hello everyone.
i was surfing browsing and downloading on my iphone 4 on my home wifi and other places without any problem but today i found out that even though i'm connected to my wifi i got no internet access. i also got this new problem, my led flash is on.  if i tilt the device the flas dims a bit. i tried switching off the device but still the flash is on. i tried using at other wifi network same problem. i tried forget this network, switching off and turning on the device i also tried reseting the network and also hard reseting the device. but still same problem. what can i do about this? and if i send it to apple what are my options? i got warrant coverage so will they be able to repair it ? if they are not able to repair then will they give me new iphone 4 or refurbished iphone 4 for replacement?

Apple does not repair devices.  If they are covered under warranty, the device is replaced.  You will not get a new phone, you will get a service unit which is as good as if not better than new.
If all the basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide has been done and the device does not get Internet access via Wi-Fi from multiple locations, the only thing left is to take it to Apple.

  • Wifi connection but 'No Internet Access'

We recently had BT fibre optic BB fitted and all seemed well on the day.  However very quickly devices using the wifi started to have only intermittent ‘connection’.  The devices show as having a good/strong signal, yet are often unable to access the internet, and in the case of our lap tops when we can not get online they say ‘Connected’ to the wifi but they also say ‘No Internet Access’.  The iPad minis we have also show as connected, with good signal, but just will not access the internet.
The issue is intermittent and has no set pattern.  At one point all devices are connected, sometimes one or two aren’t, sometimes none are.  When they will not connect we have to move them into the room where the hub is and wait for them to reconnect.  We are talking about 2 laptops, 2 iPad minis, 2 smart phones and 2 Xbox 360’s, as well as my PC (which is connected via ethernet cable).  So I doubt I'm overworking the hub, especially as my old router worked (just) with this amount of devices and that was on a basic non fibre optic BB.
When the engineer connected us he set the internet up in the study, which is at one end of our house, as that is where the master phone point and my PC are.  He connected the PC via Ethernet cable and I connected an iPad mini wirelessly (whilst sat next to the hub).  He did not check anything else worked or check if we had coverage in the whole house.  I do have a phone point in the hall, which is in the middle of the house, but he did not offer to connect to this point, or suggest that may offer better coverage in my house.
My frustration with this is compounded by the fact I had a basic Netgear wireless router running on a bog standard Virgin Media BB connection, never stronger than about 3 megs, that covered the whole house from exactly the same spot as the Homehub.
I have tried adding a plug in signal booster (as suggested on another thread), and that has helped with the overall strength of the signal in the rooms furthest from the hub, but it does not stop this ‘connection’ issue.
Can someone help with suggestions regards settings on our devices or the hub, I did wonder if it was due to the dual frequencies the hub uses, or regards getting someone out to look at this.  I am at my wits end already, and I have only had BT BB 5 days.
    Thanks in advance.

From reading your original post, the issue doesn't seem to be wth wireless signal strength - your devices are connected to wireless but just can't make an internet connection, correct?
In my experience there are a number of reasons why this can happen:
    1. Your device has a fixed IP address and it's on a different subnet from the router.  Are your devices configured for static IP addresses or DHCP?  The BT Home Hubs use 192.168.1.x as the default subnet.  To be honest, it doesn;t sound like this is your problem if they work when moved to a different location, but best to check.
    2. Your hub isn't connected to broadband.  You should be able to see this from the 'b' light on the hub.  Again, doesn;t sound like your problem.
    3. The device connects correctly to the wireles hub but fails to get an IP address.  You can check IP address assignments on the hub itself by pointing your browser at bthomehub.home, going to Advanced Settings and then DHCP Table (this is for a HH3).  You can also check the IP address assignment on your laptops, but I don't know what OS you're using so I can't tell you how to do that.  If the device is failing to get an IP address then I'd try restarting the Hub.
    4. Your devices are connecting to the Hub's BTWiFi network instead of your real network (this happens regularly with my iPhone and iPad).  Force a reconnect to your real network.
    Hope this helps!

  • All my apple device has no internet access after connect to my house's wifi.

After connecting my apple ipad to my wifi, it show that there is no internet access. But my laptop can connect it and also use my wifi with internet access. My router is Wireless-G. Why can't I use my wifi????

    Hi nkarthikeyan ,
You're right, in the behind configuration, there aren't any NAT configured for the simple reason which's Firewall is on production on another site and users must to connect to our Intranet to working properly so until I found a solution, I do some tests only with one desktop located on site...
I tried to add this command on my configuration but when I do it, I lost connection with computer of my site of ZAG ...
ASA5505-ZAG(config)# nat (inside, outside) source dynamic any interface
Also, I tried this configuration but without success also :/
    for no-nat
    object network ZAG_L2L
    subnet 10.90.0.0 255.255.255.0
    object network Trafic_vpn_MainSite_L2L1
     subnet 10.239.80.0 255.255.248.0
    object network Trafic_vpn_MainSite_L2L2
    subnet 10.239.88.0 255.255.248.0
    nat (inside,outside) source static ZAG_L2L ZAG_L2L destination static Trafic_vpn_MainSite_L2L1 Trafic_vpn_MainSite_L2L1
    nat (inside,outside) source static ZAG_L2L ZAG_L2L destination static Trafic_vpn_MainSite_L2L2 Trafic_vpn_MainSite_L2L2
And to finish my questions, can you explain me this point please :
Also you need to place your real ip address in interface ACL's instead of NATed ip address...
    Thanks for your support !
    I really appreciate it !

  • No internet access for laptop when another device is using wifi

we have both an airport and an at&t "2wire" modem. The airport is plugged into the wall outlet, the modem is connected by a wire to the airport. The modem has a wifi network and that's the network that we connect each of our apple devices to (laptop, iphone, a couple of ipads). when the ipad or iphone is using the wifi, we can't get internet access on our laptop. we just get an error message like "another device is currently using your wireless." any idea why this is happening? the only way to then fix the problem and get internet access on the laptop is to turn off the wifi on the other device, unplug and then plug in the airport, and restart the laptop.

Thanks for the update. If you want to use the AirPort Express to extend the range of the wireless network provided by the 2Wire modem (actually a combination modem & wireless router or gateway) that is possible. What you would have then is a single network with greater range to cover your entire home (hopefully.) This should also resolve the issue with not all of your network clients being unable to connect.
Since you have the two network devices already interconnected by Ethernet (wire), you just need to configure them both for a "roaming" network. Please check out the following Apple Support article for details.

  • No internet access Available from wifi

I am very annoyed that i pay for a service and cannot have access to the internet Using wifi.. "no internet connection available"I have tried it on both my Xperia Z2 and Samsung S5 with no luck.. It is that bad that i'd have to say that i can only use it about 2 percent of the times.. YES 2 PERCENT.. not a typo.. This is bloody ridiculous..I have done a lot of research on the net and it seems to be an Android problem.. Spotify works on my PS4, WII and Laptop but on none of my androids.. The mobile is the main reason i joined/suscribed as a premium member..
No point asking me to try to fix it myself as i already..1.. uninstalled/reinstalled software,2... Turned on/off /on the phone,3... Restored both phones,4... Taken both phones to my mate's house Wifi and5...Used the community service you guys offer and still with the same "No internet issue" Please advise real fix for this issue as i am spending my well earned money on a service that i am having extreme difficulty using... You should also have a phone number for direct contact so that WE can contact you and have all our problems/issues fixed 1 on 1.. Awaiting a genuine response

Same here. Have had this problem since the latest updates (latest one has still not fixed it) and there's no solution provided by spotify people anywhere. This is unbelievable. "no Internet connection" when using spotify on wifi, on my nexus 5, nexus 10 and galaxy s3. when going to cellular data it works fine.

I'm not able to access internet via wifi but am connected to my wifi network.
    No problems when using 3G
I guess it is a dns problem?
when i check the wifi settings IP address and subnet mask
have details but is blank for router, dns and search domains.
What details should I input there?
Would it mess anything up if I used the same settings that my iphone uses?
I know wifi is ok because I can download books to my ipad with stanza using wifi.
Sorry don't know too much about this sort of thing

Yes, this would be determined by the size of the IP pool allocated on your time capsule router. Ordinarily this should be large enough by default to accommodate the number of devices you have.
    Not sure where to check
"If DHCP is not working for you then you should check to see if your router is set to do DHCP and that MAC address filtering is not turned on"
*First, please note that if you aren't really familiar with network setup you should probably give Apple support a call and they can walk you through this.* See: http://www.apple.com/support/expert/
You can access your Time Capsule router using the Airport Utility which is found in the Applications/Utilities folder on your Macbook Pro. If you use this utility you can see how your router is setup. Post what you see here, i.e., Network name, radio mode, channel, Security password protection (WPA2 personal is best), etc. Of course, don't post any passwords.
Don't forget to check that the IP Address selector in your iPad WiFi setting for your network (which can be DHCP, BootP or Static) is set to DHCP.
I will turn Time capsule off for a while to try.
At this point it might also be a good idea to also go to Settings > General > Reset on your iPad and select "Reset Network Settings".

  • Have Access to HD by ethernet and internet by wifi

    Hi,
I use Time Capsule by Gigabit Ethernet, because I need fast access to it disk, with my iMac. Now I bought an iPhone and want to use it Wifi to access the internet.
But when I turn on the internet by Wifi, my iMac access the disk of Time Capsule by Wifi (a lot more slow). If I change the order of network service (putting Ethernet in first, to access the HD faster) I can't access internet in my iMac.
*How can I force the iMac to access the disk by ethernet and the internet by wifi?*
    Thank you,
    Paulo

Depending on the details of your configuration, you shouldn't have to use both modes. You should be able to do both things over Ethernet.
Yeah! Before I buy my iPhone, the Wifi of Time Capsule was Off. And I used only the ethernet to have access to the disk and for the internet.
But now that I turn on the Wifi, I cant access the internet by Ethernet with my iMac (as I said before).
Besides the Time Capsule and (presumably) a broadband modem, do you have any other networking equipment? if so, how is everything connected?
In your Time Capsule, what are the settings for these things?
    - AirPort/Wireless/Wireless Mode
    - Internet/Internet COnnection/Connection Sharing
I have a modem and a Switch. But the Switch is only for connect a PC, and printers in my network. The 2 iMacs that I have here are connect direct in Time Capsule.
I always configure my ethernet manualy. With IP and every thing. Here:
    IP: 192.168.0.11
    Sub mask: 255.255.255.0
    Router: 192.168.0.1
    DNS: 192.168.0.1, 156.154.70.1, 156.154.71.1
This always works to access the disk and the internet with wifi off.
Now I turned on the wifi of Time Capsule:
    Mode: Create a wifi network
    Mode: 802.11n
    channel: Automatic
    Security: WPA2 Personal
Thank you for you time and help my. And if you need more information just ask.
    Best regards,
    Paulo
