No internet anymore

I had a dynamic ip address. I was able to access the internet. With my one desktop and one Xserve network. I just got a static ip address for my Xserve. As soon as I configured my Xserve with the static IP address. I lost all access to the internet with my Xserve. But, I still have access with my desktop.  I am using a RVS4000 Cisco wired router as a gateway. I am using the gateway and DNS IP that my ISP gave me. I forwarded my new static IP address to port 80 on my firewall. I am still not able to access the internet with my Xserve anymore. In my Safari browser. My network diagnostic shows, Ethernet green, network setting green, ISP red(failed), internet red(failed), and server red(failed). Anyone please tell me what I need to do? To get back access to the internet with my Xserve.

In short - you can't do that. OS X Server will effectively not work using randomly assigned IPs under DHCP.
OSXS always wants to know what it's IP address is and always assumes it is the same. Even on DHCP networks when it is assigned a static IP I always set it to manual so there is never a chance that DHCP is down or is slow to respond and the server might have any missing or conflicting information in regards to its address because it causes so many problems.
You can change the IP address to a new static one but you need to follow the proper changeIP process to make sure that the changes happen in all the different places that they need to happen.
As to your second layer problem if your desktop already has the same IP as you assigned to your server than you need to fix that before anything will work. Go into your desktop's network assignment and re-lease against the DHCP server and get a new, different address. (You might also take your Xserve's ethernet down and start it up again if you're paranoid.) And then you can see what is or is not working in your current set-up.
Currently your multiple use of the same IPs is masking your real layer of problems so that's step 1. Step 2 getting your OSXS IP changed correctly so your various services will actually work.

My laptop compaq presario will not connect to the Internet anymore after buying airport extreme. Why? It detects the network, accepts my password, but will not connect to Internet. I tried to repair connection, tried to reboot modem several times, I even updated my computer. Nothing. All it says is that it does not detect modem. Why?

Welcome to the support community group.
First, are you sure that your AirPort Extreme has been configured correctly and is properly connected to your modem?
Begin by telling us how you have things connected and if the Airport Extreme is replacing a previously owned router or is this an entirely new installation?
First be sure that your modem is working and properly connects you to the internet using an ethernet cable directly connected to your laptop.  Once you're sure that's working, reset the AirPort to factory defaults by disconnecting it from power and pressing and holding in the small reset button on the back  for 15 - 20 seconds while you reconnect it to power.  Then turn everything off for 5 minutes. Connect the Airport to your modem with and ethernet cable to the Airport WAN port on the back (check the user guide to make sure you connect the cable to the correct port) then connect a second ethernet cable between the laptop and one of the LAN ports on the AirPort Extreme.
Then power up the modem first, wait 5 minutes and then power up the Airport, wait 5 minutes and finally power up your laptop.
Then run the airport configuration utility from your laptop.  Since you're not using an Apple computer, be sure that all of your firewall, and virus blocking and checking software is disabled before you run the airport configuration utility.  Once you run the utility, it should detect your AirPort and allow you to use the configuration wizard to set things up.
Check back if you're still having problems.

    Hi galleryskins,
The article below may be able to help you with this issue.
Click on the link below to see more details and screenshots.
I've quoted some helpful highlights for you:
OS X Mountain Lion: Zoom content on the screen
Zoom with a mouse or trackpad
To zoom in and out, hold down the modifier key you specified while you perform the scroll gesture.
For example, if you have a trackpad and used the default settings, zoom in by holding down the Control (^) key while you drag two fingers up on the trackpad. Zoom out by holding down the Control key while you drag two fingers down on the trackpad.
If you chose Picture-in-picture zooming, a window appears near the mouse cursor with the magnified image. If you chose Fullscreen zooming, the entire screen displays the magnified image.
I hope this information helps ....
    Have a great day!

  • Doesn't connect to the internet anymore

    Hi,
my macbook air doesn't connect to the internet anymore. Diagnostics don't find a solution, either.
    Network status as follows:
    wi-fi: green
    wi-fi settings: green
    Network settings: green
    isp: green
    Internet: Failed
    Server: Failed
I am writing this on a different apple computer using the same network, ISP and so on. Obviously, this one works, and so do a couple of other computers in the house. Hence it can't be a problem with the router, ISP or so. Must be a problem in the macbook air.
    WHo has an idea?

    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Network ▹ Advanced ▹ TCP/IP
What values are shown for the following?
    Configure IPv4
    IPv4 Address
    Subnet Mask
    Router

  • My ipad 2 can see my home wifi but I can't connect to the internet anymore ???

I can connect my Ipad to the encrypted network at home - but I can't connect to the internet anymore.  In Safari, Itunes, email .... NOTHING ! Help pls.

You may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
Your router may not have given your iPad a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPad (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

  • Can't connect to internet anymore

Right now I can't connect to the internet anymore through AirPort Express. I'm not sure what the problem could be. I unplugged it from my cable modem yesterday (it still worked minutes before disconnecting). Then, I tried connecting it somewhere else (unsuccessfully by the way). Now, I've tried to recreate my network but it isn't working. I even got it to give me a green solid light telling me that I am connected, yet I can't access the internet wirelessly. However, right now I'm connected with that modem through ethernet. My modem is a surfboard model SB5101U, using airport express.

Hello julios. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
It's always a good idea to perform a complete power recycle whenever you change network components.
    I suggest trying the following:
o Power-down the modem, AirPort Express Base Station (AX), and computer(s); wait at least 10-15 minutes.
o Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes.
o Power-up (plug into power) the AX; wait at least 5-10 minutes.
    o Power-up the computer(s).
Computers connected by wireless to the AX should now be able to gain access to the Internet. Please post back your results.

    Hi Damien,
      Thanks for your reply.
I had not created 2 separated wireless network. The airport extreme has had create wireless allowing it to be extended and the airport express has had it to extend since day 1.
The only device that does not connect to the airport express when it is far from the airport extreme here is the iPhone 4. I've tested 2 Windows based computers, 2 Macs, 1 Samsung TV and 1 Android phone and they all are able to connect to the airport express when the signal from the airport extreme is weak (please take a look on the screen shots on the original post).
The screenshots of the 2 devices' wireless set up can be found below:
       Airport Extreme
      Airport Express
I have seen other people here on the Apple discussions complaining about the same issue with their iPhone 4 and iPad: would it be a iOs problem?

  • Macbook Pro won't connect to the Internet anymore.

I am posting on behalf of a friend.
She has a MacBook Pro 13" Early 2011 model. She can connect to Wifi and Ethernet cables fine, But when it comes to using the internet it won't work.
She tried Safari, Firefox and Chrome, and other software that uses internet connectivity doesn't work.
We used different internet connections, restarting the Laptop but it wouldn't work.
She upgraded to Mac OS X Yosemite, see it would fix the problem but again, nothing.
The Odd thing about it is that she has two account in the MacBook Pro, The Other account being her sisters, does get internet connectivity and browses the internet with no problem.
We made a new account and see if that would do the trick but still does the same thing. No internet connection.
Any suggestions how to fix this?

I tried re-installing Mountain Lion 10.8.3 but it didn´t help.
Assuming your can access email ok ?
First, install the OS X Mountain Lion Update v10.8.4 (Combo)
Then restart your Mac. That will reinstall any missing system files.
    Then try Safari.

  • I can't connect to Internet anymore (WIFI or Ethernet). This was working perfectly before. I don't get a proper IP address from my ADSL box and it seems there is a DNS error when accessing the Internet.

I have an issue with my MacBook pro (MAC OS X 10.8.3) when trying to access Internet. I am behind an ADSL box (Orange). I have a PC on the same LAN which accesses Internet perfectly via the same Box.
On the MAC, I have tried WIFI and Ethernet. And have same issue on both. I have checked the IP address (the ADSL box is a DHCP server) but the MAC doesn't get a proper IP and network mask I tried a manual IP address setup and it doesn't get better. I have setup the DNS servers for my Internet provider, but I get DNS error. I have tried 2 Internet browsers (Chrome and Safari), both have the same issue.
I tried to put my MAC on a different ADSL box (I have 2 acccesses with 2 providers at home) and get the same issue.
I also noticed a havy CPU load on the mDNSResponder process (at least 30%). I have restarted it, but no improvement.
Last, I have repared the permissions.
From those trials, it seems that the problem is on the Mac side. But I am completelly without any new idea, so I need help
    Thanks

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • My MAC won't connect to the internet anymore. I have ran the Diagnostic check and other computers are able to connect but my MAC no longer will. Please help.

Please tell me what I need to do to fix this problem. It was working fine yesterday and now today that is not the case. Thank you.

I had the same issue! My 24"  2008 iMac was working perfectly. Yesterday I used my BootCamp partition and when I went back to my Mac OS I couldn't connect to the internet!
The computer looks like it's connected but it won't navigate at all! I tried to verify the network settings and when I tried to do that my System Preferences app hang-up. I had to Force quit it and reboot the computer couple of times to double check.
Then I run de Disk utility to verify the disk & permissions and the scan result was that the disk was not repairable, I had to make a timeMachine backup of my personal data and completely format my HD including the BOOTCAMP partition to reinstall MAC OS 10.6 and all the updates and everything and now Everything is working perfectly.
I first tried to only format my MAC OS partition and reinstall but there was another error that the insallation couldn't be completed. Then I completely erases all partitions and erased all the files and I was able to reinstall everything in a couple of hours.

  • Macbook not connecting to wireless internet anymore

I've read the previous posts and it seems like I am having a simliar problem as others. I am running OSX10.4.9... I'm not sure if it's been updated to that recently or not.
Anyway, my computer has connected with no problem to the internet for the past 8 months. Then it seemed that suddenly for the last 2 weeks it decides it isn't going to. It connects to the router just fine, but doesn't get IP address or anything, but the sometimes it does. It involves a lot of patience and turning on and off airport.
Like I said, this might be the same problem everyone else seems to be complaining about, but i'm not sure. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
    Thank You

I have this problem as well. We happen to have 2 macbooks from mid-2005 (one bought in October and one in December). The December one is fine.
I am assuming this is a hardware failure and tried to replace the "card" only to discover that the mid-2005 model has the airport built-in.
Does anyone know which would be the better move - having the board repaired or getting a USB 802.11g plugin ? If I get the plugin, is there anything I need to do to override the broken board ?
    Thank you for any advice

  • I am on my 2nd airport express. It won't connect to the internet anymore. How long do they typically last?

I have an airport express. It hasn't been used in almost a year. It was working perfectly then. I tried to connect it to the internet and it won't connect. I've done a reset. This is my 2nd one. It seems that every time I move, i have to get another one. Anyone else have this problem?

    Hi Melissa518,
If you are continuing to have issues with your Airport Express after a reset, you may want to try a Factory Default Reset as outlined in the following article:
