No internet connection on windows xp

i downloaded windows xp sp2 on my mac using bootcamp and it worked fine except i cant get internet while using windows, any suggestions?

I also have problems with Windows Vista Enterprise connecting to the internet. I get wireless connectivity, but the ethernet plug-in does not work. If I reinstall the bootcamp 3.0 drivers then it works until I reboot or turn the computer off. The next time I start Windows, no internet/ network connections and I have to re-install the drivers again. I'm not installing bootcamp drivers every time I have to boot the system. This is NOT a Windows problem - this is Apple.

I too am running xp spiii on my mac with lion. However I installed xp while running snow leopard then upgraded to lion and both are running fine. If you have the support disc that came with the imac all the relevant drivers are on there. The only other thing i would suggest is that you get spiii and upgrade to that.

  • HP Pavilion 15t Issues with Limited Internet Connectivity on Windows 8

So, I just received my new HP Pavilion 15t-e000 CTO Notebook PC last week, it runs Windows 8, & it's a 64 bit.
The only problem I've had is staying connected to my wireless Internet. The connection will cut out at random intervals saying "Limited" instead of "Connected". I constantly have to disconnect and connect to my wireless Internet. It is especially frustrating when I am trying to download something that takes longer than a couple of minutes because the Internet connection cuts out and I have to start the process all over again.
I have tried pretty much every "fix" people have posted that have worked for some people. No such luck for me. Sometimes it seems like it will stay connected and then I try to connect to a web page or download something and it goes out again.
    - Turning off the "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power" under Power Management in the Properties section of my Wireless connection.... DID NOT WORK
    - Using the command prompt to reset the network adapter ... DID NOT WORK
    - Running the Network and Internet and whatever else Troubleshooters ... DID NOT WORK ***Update: If I run the network connection test via the HP Help/Support center on my desktop while the connection says Limited, I receive the notice that the "default gateway was not available" and the router was reset and issue fixed, etc. BUT, if I run the test while the wireless says Connected, the test always says there is no problem. And even though the test "fixed" the issue, it didn't because the Internet always cuts out again.
    - Windows Updates has installed new updates a few times ... DID NOT WORK
    - Forgetting the Wireless Network and Setting it Up as a new one again ... DID NOT WORK
    - Using my computer right next to my wireless router ... DID NOT WORK
The wireless router being used is: Cisco Linksys Wireless-G 2.4GHz Broadband Router and our network is WPA with a security code. We also have a SpeedStream DSL Internet thing (sorry, I don't know what it is called). The compatibility center says this router is compatible with Windows 8 by the way. Other computers running Windows 7 and Windows Vista, iPhones, and iPads all work fine.
My laptop uses Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 2230 and the light is on and it always says "device is working properly" in Properties.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated because I am at my wits end.
    Thanks

So, it seems my issue with the Limited Internet connection has been resolved. I didn't use my computer for two days and this afternoon when I turned it on I was still having issues. However, I went into the HP Support Assistant and it popped up that I had some updates to download and install, so I let it do its thing. It took a while because the Internet kept cutting out, but once the update for the Intel Wireless finally installed, my connection has STAYED CONNECTED. Finally!
I don't know why when I went into the wireless properties it said "device is working properly" and when I tried to Update the driver it said "your driver is the latest version" or whatever.
I suggest you go to the HP Support Assistant and check for updates in the "Updates and Tune-Ups" section. It was kind of random, but knock on wood my Wireless connection issue looks to be gone.
    Hope this helps

  • Remove Internet connection reminder window

    Hello,
Is there a way to remove that window that is always reminding me that my Internet connection is still on? It pops up every 15 minutes and it is getting annoying. But I can't find any option button to stop this. Where is it?
Thanks in advance for your answers,
    Frédéric

Are you using a dial-up connection or ADSL/DSL?
If dial-up: Set your Internal Modem preferences to never disconnect, disconnect after a longer period of inactivity, or to not disconnect if switched to another user:1. Open System Preferences > Network.
    2. Select Internal Modem in the Show pop-up menu.
    3. Select the PPP tab.
    4. Click the PPP Options... button.
    5. A sheet appears containing the various disconnect-related preferences. Make changes accordingly.
    6. Click OK.
    7. Click Apply Now.
    8. Confirm your intent to apply the changes.
If ADSL/DSL: The Disconnect options are a bit buried. This should sort it out:1. Open System Preferences > Network.
    2. Select Built-in Ethernet from the Show pop-up menu.
    3. Select the PPPoE tab.
    4. Click PPPoE Options. A sheet appears.
    5. Change the "Prompt" and the various "Disconnect" options in the sheet, as desired.
    6. Click OK. The sheet closes.
    7. Click Apply Now.
    8. Confirm your intent to apply the changes.Note that some of the information above is from the "Networking" chapter of my book, Troubleshooting Mac® OS X, Tiger Edition.

  • I have an iPad mini - trying to set up a wifi internet connection on Windows 7 laptop.

Have a new iPad and need to still set it up.  Problem is that it needs to connect to a wifi internet connection which I have set up on my Win7 laptop.  The iPad mini sees the network but can't connect to it.........  What am I doint wrong?  I have set the network up via the adhoc network set up and have done everything as per the turorials I have seen, but it still won't to connect.  Is this possible and if so, how do I do it?  I have tried the ad-hoc network way and the iPad recognises it but can't connect to it.  THANKS A MIL

Windows 7 Home Basic does not support ad hoc or hosted network functionality (what Connectify and Virtual Router use). At a minimum you would need to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium. Note the Applies to these editions of Windows 7 statement at the right in this article.

Again using a broadband wireless (WiFi) router is the best way to go presuming its in your budget.

  • Periodically lose virtual machine (Parallels) internet connection on windows 7

    Running OS X Mavericks 10.9.5
Parallels 9.0.24172 running Windows 7 enterprise
Internet connection would periodically time out, and force a reboot of the virtual machine to regain connection.
    Using a wired connection.

Changing the network configuration settings for the virtual machine from "Shared connection" to "Ethernet" (for my specific connection) solved this problem. It seems there is an issue with the shared connection feature for Parallels and OS X.
At the Parallels virtual machine selection:
    1. Right click on the virtual machine
    2. Select Configure
    3. Choose the Hardware tab
    4. Select Network or Network '#'
    5. Change the network Type
    6. Choose your preferred type
Ex. If you are using a WiFi connection select WiFi.
(You may have to re-enter the SSID and Password to your router/network for the virtual machine).
In this selection window : Using "Shared connection" is what caused the connectivity problems for my computer.

  • Slow Wifi Internet Connection on Windows 7

I recently got a brand new iMac 27 inch (late 2013) I need to have Windows installed because of some compatibility problems with some programs I use for my work. I follow all the instruction on how to install Windows using bootcamp and I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate Edition. Everything is working fine but my Internet connection when I am using the Windows partition is ridiculously slow, on the contrary when I am using the MacOSx the Internet connection is fine. Can anyone help me to solve it?

Is there anyone that can help me?

  • I'm stumped on this one. WRT110 drops Internet connectivity with Windows 7.

I've had my router for a good 4 years now. I have Time Warner RoadRunner for my ISP. Running Windows 7 on my laptop, and have several devices connected at different times via wireless.
I was having Internet dropouts multiple times per day. Powering down the router for about 10 seconds fixed it until the next one. I figured the router was dying, so I bought a new one. Had the exact same issues, so I returned the router and kept the WRT110. Next step was to swap out my cable modem. I got the newest one they had (which is a Cisco). This still did not fix the problem. So I put up with it. FYI - this is not a modem issue. Many times I have checked to make sure I have Internet connectivity via a direct connect to the modem, and it has always had a steady Internet connection, even when the router has dropped Internet.
Then one day my hard drive crashed on my laptop. I decided to throw Ubuntu on my new hard drive. I ran it for a month or more, and I noticed that the Internet dropouts almost completely went away. I didn't have to get up and reset the router every hour or two. Well after getting a bit tired of Ubuntu, I re-installed Windows 7, and now the dropouts are back, and more annoying than ever.
The only thing I can come up with is the wireless driver Windows is using is somehow affecting the router in the way it and the wireless adapter are talking. It seems to only drop Internet when I'm using the laptop. Even if I just have the laptop powered on, and I am trying to watch Netflix on my TV, or browse apps on my tablet, I will lose Internet.
Anybody have any suggestions? (I just lost Internet again while typing this, and I just reset it 15 minutes ago)

I suggest you to play around with the wireless settings on the router, Like changing the wireless name , channel and the type of wireless security.
    This link will guide you;http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=80&vw=1&articleid=3698
Also, you check the firmware of the router by going to the status tab on  the interface.
Website you can check to download it.

  • Sharing internet connection with Windows via Airport

    Happy New Year, all!
I have an iMac Intel Core Duo connected to an ADSL modem via ethernet. I'd like to share my internet connection via Airport with a Windows laptop (which is running XP with SP2). I've read that this is possible and I've tried setting it up but the laptop isn't seeing the Airport network at all.
I've created a network with security off, from the Airport drop-down menu in the iMac menu bar, turned Internet Sharing on (Share from: ethernet - to computers using: Airport). I have Windows Sharing and Personal Web Sharing turned on, and my firewall is off. But the Airport network still doesn't show up on the laptop.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong, or at least point me in the right direction.
    Many thanks in advance.

i am having the same problem. i have the mac connected but when i go to windows i can't get the page open that says to connect. when i run the mouse over the icons at the bottom of the page it shows the airport signal being excellent. but i just can't get to a page to enter the "key to connect". it is greyed out and shows that it is limited or not connectivity.
    please someone help!

  • Failover internet connection on Windows server

    Hello,
Is it possible on Windows server if i have two internet connections connected from different ISP's(with Different IP's) and two NIC cards are connected, if one of the
internet connection(Primary) goes down , the other one(secondary) replaces automatically. And similarly primary should take over once it is back online again. I am using windows server 2008 R2.As far as i know windows server allow only one gateway.
     Is there any solution?  Thanks.

    Hi,
It is recommended to configure only one default gateway on any multihomed computer. Because the default gateway is a global configuration for the server, not a setting that set for each network adapter(NIC).
According to your description, the 2 NICs are connected to different network(with different gateway). If you set default gateway in TCP/IP properties of each NIC, you may open the Command Prompt, type “route print” and hit Enter. 2 default gateway entry
will be listed, no matter which NIC is connected, the server will always choose the first default gateway to transmit packets if the default gateway is available.
If you need to configure 2 default gateway, on one of the NIC’s TCP/IP properties, add the default gateway. Then add a statics route entry for the network which the other default gateway connected to.
    Suppose that:
    1. The default gateway is 192.168.2.1, and it is connected to another network 192.168.3.0/24.
    2. The IP address of the NIC (without default gateway) is 192.168.2.20.
    3. Interface number of the NIC is 2(type “route print” to check the number).
    4. Metric 30 (set the metric depends on your need).
Then open CMD, type the command line as below and hit Enter:
    Route –p add 192.168.3.0 mask 255.255.255.0 192.168.2.1
    metric 30 if 2
Then you may use “route print” to check the route table after complete this operation.

  • Internet connection for Windows Server 2008

I have an HP ProBook 6545b notebook computer which I installed an evaluation copy of Windows Server 2008 on. I'm trying to get internet connectivity to work but as yet, it's not.
I get the message that it can't find a network interface card but even with an Ethernet cable connected, it still won't connect to the internet.
For the background, this is the first time I'm trying this on a home computer being I'm a 2012 graduate of a technical school and I'm re-reading all my computer related textbooks.
The HP notebook I'm using gets the internet connection when I have Windows 7 Professional installed.
Is/are there a driver/drivers needed or a service in 2008 I need to install? If it's a driver, where can I get it?

    Hi,
That mean windows server does not recognize your network card, you can try the manufacturer driver, or the best move would be to setup a small virtual machine on your notebook, under a windows 7's OS.
You could use virtualbox, or similar product to achieve the goal.
    Thanks

  • Loss of Internet connection in Windows 7 Bootcamp

I have just installed Windows 7 through Bootcamp. Everythng is working really well except I can't seem to get an internet connection. There are not even any options for searching for a wireless network.
    Can anyone help?

As a person running Windows 7 64-bit under boot camp on a machine with an ATI Radeon 6750M, I can testify that at least that setup works fine. I don't see how a format and reinstall could break any particular element of the new install.
If your machine is anything but a Mac Pro, please ensure you're using the Boot Camp drivers Apple provide rather than the ones you get off ATI's website — the latter will refuse to recognose your card.
If you don't already have a copy, use Boot Camp Assistant to download the Boot Camp drivers for your particular machine.

  • Loss of internet connection from windows side of imac duo core

I have cable modem as internet hookup. When I am in Mac I have no problems, but every time I either change to the Windows side, or the computer is turned off or goes off, when Windows comes up, I can't access the internet.
I have gone into control panel and it states that the cable modem is unplugged or not connected. I then have to literally unplug the cable from the computer, wait a few seconds and then plug it back in.
This has been going on several months and started after I had a cable issue at the house and the cable guys came out and fixed it. they changed some things on my computer.
I think something on the MAC side was actually changed and that is impacting the windows side.
Prior to that I could access the internet from either side w/no problem.
Now, even if I unplug the cable and then plug it in, the computer is not recognizing that the cable is plugged in. As you can see, I am still having NO problem w/the MAC side.
Any ideas what command or default setting might have been changed to impact the Windows side in this fashion. thanks

what is the firmware version on the router?? try reducing MTU to 1452...let me know if you have any issues will get back to you.
    thanks

  • No Internet Connectivity Following Windows 7 Critical Update August 19th 20112

I experienced a Windows 7 automatic update (Downloaded and installed August 18th 2012 - evening) and when I attempted to access the internet on August 19th, I had no connectivity. Issue is not with wifi or service provider since another laptop functions
normally. I went to system restore as of 15th August and was able to access as normal. But upon closing down the session, the absence of the updates triggers another Windows 7 update automatic install and the exact symptoms return upon restart. Any idea
what the critical updates were for this period and which of them would cause this failure? Are there clear instructions available for starting from an acceptable state (August 15th) and only adding the updates that are compatible? What are the implications
of not installing a Windows 7 critical update? What resident programs are likely sources of incompatibility. I have the usual assortment of annoying Dell crap on my system and I use Mcafee antivirus (which is current and has completed a scan finding
nothing since this problem) but not a whole lot of other software that I can imagine would cause a conflict.

    You're welcome!
If you find the one that's causing the problem, Google the KB number and see if anyone else has had a problem with it, and what they did to fix it. Odds are, missing one update is not going to put your system at serious risk.
I would imagine that if there are enough logged complaints about an update, there would be an updated update (like that :-)? ) some time in the future. It has happened before. I wouldn't put too much stock in Microsoft monitoring these forums closely, but
I'm sure they must have something in place alerting them of a mass of particular problem posts.
I can't comment on the "Jumpstart wireless filter adapter" setting since I don't have that option on my laptop's wireless adaptor properties.
Edit: Please read this thread in the Answers forums if you have McAfee:
