"no internet connection. please check your network...

each time i try to use my gps on the n95 8gb it comes up with "no internet connection. please check your network settings" even though last time i tried it was fine with the same default access point being contract internet. it also doesn't allow me to use the web. i am on vodafone and it has been fine up till now with the same setting.
any ideas appreciated

cheers ruko2. before i had chance to read your reply i tried simply turning the phone off and on and this sorted the problem. i believe it is due to the same thing you was pointing me towards in the fact that applications must have been running and i simply cleared this by accident. the 'age old' way of turning technology off then on works again : )
it is odd that it comes up saying 'no packet data...' or whatever when accessing the web and 'no internet connection' with the gps. you'd imagine it to simply not load or say something like 'low on memory' due to the ram and computing power being used by other programs.

  • TS1398 I cannot activate my iMessage on my ipad. I get a message that says "Could not sign in. Please check your network connections and try again." But my internet and browsing works great.  I don't undersand. Any ideas of what to try?

I am trying to activate iMessage. I receive a message that says "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again." I connection is strong. I can browse the internet but cannot connect to iMessages. I don't understand. Any ideas.

Turn iMessage off and then on again, wait a few minutes.
Turn Airplane mode on and then off again, turn iMessage off and then on again, wait a few minutes.
Make sure your iPad is on Wi-Fi, reboot your iPad, turn iMessage off and then on again, wait a few minutes.
Wait and try again later -- Apple's servers can get overwhelmed or experience outages just like anyone else's.

  • Why do I get an error message while I am setting up iMessage that reads "could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again." Funny thing is internet Safari works just fine.

As the subject line. When I try to activate either iMessage or FaceTime I get this error message "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again." Funny thing Safari works just fine with my network connection. The device in question is an iPhone4. iOS 7.06

The following link has a section for dealing with that error message that may help: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4268

  • TS1424 I am having issues downloading music from iTunes, it comes up saying an unknown error has occurred - please check your network connection. Now I can connect to iTunes store and have itunes as an exception for downloads so don't know what else to do

Hello, I've started having an issue downloading songs and apps from iTunes to our PC which has Windows XP Professional installed. We also use Karspersky Anti-Virus and Firefox as an internet browser. Have never had this issue before, it comes up with "An unknow error has occured and downloads are stopped with an error 8003. Also says please check your network connection" We have no issue connecting to iTunes store or the network so not sure how to fix this. It is very frustrating. Have checked Windows Firewall and iTunes is an exception, can't think of anything else why it won't work.

I sounds as though you need to start again. The following article tells you how to completely remove iTunes and Quicktime. If you didn't actually install iTunes you wont find it in add/remove programs so you can't do that bit, but still delete the iTunes folder in Program Files as advised in the article.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698
Once you have got rid of them, try installing the latest version of iTunes. There is a link to it in the article.
Itunes wont move your music for you, get iTune sgoing then ask again.

  • HT5622 When trying to sign in to Face Time, I continually get Face Time Activation "Could not sign in.  Please check your network connection and try again"  I have reset my Apple ID and my Password and I am successfully logging into Safari.  What am I doi

When trying to sign in to Face Time, I continually get "Face time Activation"  "Could not sign in.  Please check your network connection and try again".  I am able to access the internet via Safari, so my network connection seems to be working.  What am I doing wrong, and how can I access Face Time?

    Hey sklingen,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues signing into FAceTime. The following article may help to resolve your issue:
iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime and iMessage activation
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4268
You may also want to reset your network settings:
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: this will delete any network related settings (saved Wi-Fi passwords, etc), it will not erase any content from your device.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

Why am I receiving iMessage activation "could not sign in. Please check your network

I am connected to the network.

It's telling you that it can't reach the internet, either by wifi or 3G.

  • Facetime error "Could not sign in. please check your network connectivity and try again

When I try to log in to Facetime on my iMac, it gives me the an error. "Could not sign in. please check your network connectivity and try again" I have already tried fixing the time and I dont have any firewall installed

This could be a complicated problem to solve, as there are many possible causes for it. Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
Before proceeding, test on another network, if possible. That could be a public Wi-Fi hotspot, if your computer is portable, or a cellular network if you have a mobile device that can share its Internet connection. If you find that iMessage works on the other network, the problem is in your network or at your ISP, not in your computer.
    Step 1
Check the status of the service. If the service is down, wait tor it to come back up. There may be a localized outage, even if the status indicator is green.
    Step 2
Sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all your Apple devices. Log out and log back in. Try again to sign in.
    Step 3
Restart your router and your broadband device, if they're separate. You may have to skip this step if you don't control those devices.
    Step 4
    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or invalid according to this web form, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.
    Step 5
Take the steps suggested in this support article. If you don't understand some of the steps or can't carry them out, ask for guidance.
    Step 6
    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If the box marked SOCKS Proxy is checked, uncheck it. You don’t need to change any other settings in the window. Click OK and then Apply. Test.
The result may be that you can't connect to the Internet at all. Revert the change if that happens, or if iMessage still doesn't work. Remember that you must Apply any changes you make in the preference pane before they take effect.
    Step 7
    Select from the menu bar
               ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Storage
    and click
Block all sites from storing information on this computer
    Close the preference pane.
    Step 8
Make sure you know the ID and password you use with iMessage. Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Use the search box in the toolbar of the Keychain Access window to find and delete all items with "iMessage" or "com.apple.idms" in the name. Log out and log back in.
    Step 9
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
If iMessage worked in the guest account, stop here and post your results.
    Step 10
Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you start up, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound outputand Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. After testing, restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and test again.
If iMessage worked in safe mode, but still doesn't work when you restart in "normal" mode, stop here and post your results.
    Step 11
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.apsd.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 12
    Reset the NVRAM.
    Step 13
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).
    Step 14
    Reinstall OS X.
    Step 15
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or contact Apple Support. When you set up a support call, select "Apple ID" as the product you need help with, not the hardware model. That way, if you're not under AppleCare, you may be able to talk your way out of being charged for the call.

  • Nothing seems to solve my MacBook Pro problem 'Could not sign in.Please Check your network connection and try again'

On old MacBook Pro Version 10.6.8 downloaded Facetime from the Mac Store as instructed but error loging in says 'Could not sign in.Please Check your network connection and try again'.
I have follwed all these discussion fixes with DNS settings 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and refreshing everything but nothing works.
    Help!
I have also logged out of my other laptop and closed my phones Facetime.

    Hi KateD14!
I have an article here that addresses this sign in issue with FaceTime and may have some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve this issue:
FaceTime, Game Center, Messages: Troubleshooting sign in issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3970
    Resolution
    Try the following:
Ensure that you have an active Internet connection.
Verify that you are using a valid Apple ID at appleid.apple.com. You can also create an Apple ID or reset your password from this website. Other things you should confirm while logged into appleid.apple.com:
Confirm that the email addresse(s) for your Apple ID has been verified.
Check for miss-types of the email address
Check the spelling of the email address
Check that all letters are lower case
Make sure that special characters are correct, e.g. no commas (,) where there is supposed to be full stops (.), etc.
Note You may experience issues if your email address is associated with more than one Apple ID. If you have multiple Apple IDs, log in to appleid.apple.com with each Apple ID and confirm that each email address you wish to use for FaceTime or Messages is associated with only a single Apple ID.
Make sure the date, time, and time zone are set correctly in Data & Time preferences, in System Preferences. Tip: Enable "Set date and time automatically" in Date & Time preferences to automatically keep this information accurate.
If third-party firewall or port filtering software is installed, it needs to be configured to allow connections to apple.com, verisign.com and verisign.net. A list of ports required for using FaceTime and Messages is in Using FaceTime and iMessage behind a firewall. Please consult this article for further help configuring firewalls and Internet security software.
If your /private/etc/hosts file has been modified, make sure that it is not interfering with communications to apple.com, verisign.com or verisign.net servers. Note: Some third-party software installers may modify the /private/etc/hosts file without alerting you. Instructions about how to check and resolve issues with a /private/etc/hosts file are in the "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows)" section of iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting
Thanks for being a part of the Apple Support Communities!

  • FaceTime: please check your network connection...

Any idea how to  fix this problem? the remainder of internet applications work just fine.

Let me expand my question a little bit... I had been using FaceTime without difficulty, and then all of a sudden, when I opened the application, rather than log me in automatically, the program asked for me to enter my password and sat there thinking. It then displayed the message "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again." I verified my apple ID and password, tried using a different apple ID and password and still received the same message. It also displays the same message if I try to create a new account from that set-up page. One would assume that the network connection is indeed not funtioning, but I can browse on the internet and use Skype without any problems, so it seems the issue is with FaceTime itself. Additionally, I can log into FaceTime on my iPad 2 without any problems.
Any new thoughts on how to get FaceTime up and running again? Thanks.

  • Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again. While using FaceTime

While using my iPad air trying to connect to FaceTime, I type in my Apple ID and password then get this message. Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again. Have checked network connection and have internet. Help!

Some basic troubleshooting steps for FaceTime activation.....
Check Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>On. Make sure that the time zone setting is also correct.
Try restarting or resetting your iPad and then try activating again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Facetime is accessed through Contacts or Messages. The only place you will find anything else in is Settings, where you would activate it. There is no stand alone app for Facetime like on the iPod or iPad.
