No internet good wifi other computer has internet

My pc has internet.
my iPad has maximum wireless strength, but no internet.
Usually macs are no fuss, very odd.

You may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
Your router may not have given your iPad a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the "i" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Do not reset your router. Next, reset network settings on your iPad (Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

My firefox on my lap top (with windows 7) cannot login to my e mail website with a username and password, without first clearing the history ? my other computer has windows xp and it works fine.

I simply reinstalled fire fox 3.6.19 and I can login no problem. Seems like it could be a compatability problem between 5.0 and windows 7. One other thing that happened often was lag while playing mmorpg games. Not sure if this fixed it or not, but I can update this thread when i find out.
Thank you to who ever provided the link to the older fire fox downloads page in another question thread.

  • IBook not connecting: Other computer has no problem

We connect to the net via an ethernet cable using PPOE. We are not usually on at the same time, so we just unplug the cable from whichever computer is using it and plug it in the other. Never had any problems swapping the cable between computers when one of us wanted to use the net.
Now my wife's iBook isn't connecting. My PowerBook has no problems, but when her iBook tries to connect, it says that authentication failed. When I ran diagnostics, it said that the cable was not plugged in or that it was not connected to a network.
I've tried: repair permissions, turning it off and back on again, typing in ID/password manually, using the assistant, deleting Quicktime and prefs (saw this on a post), unplugging iBook and taking out battery for half-hour (had to reset time and date).
I can share my connection via airport, but her Safari is SLooooooow and when I tried to do a software update on her iBook using this shared connection, it would not connect (lost network connection (-1005.) When I hit "Network Diagnostics", it all came back green: no problems.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

ok, the quicktime compatibility update (took several tries and about two hours to download) seems to have done the trick.
    fun fun fun.

  • My wife's MacBook has a virus! Help, please.

    Hi,
My wife's computer has a virus. I've never seen anything like it on any computer. It's as if a mad person has taken control of the mouse and is operating it continuously by himself—opening and closing apps, locking out us out as we sit watching as helpless bystanders. Turning off the computer, etc. does nothing. Help.
    Best,
    Joseph

It is not likely a virus, but for info read Klaus's User Tips and the link to Thomas Reeds SafeMac site.
Do a restart of the MacBook and see if that helps, and are you using a mouse with the MacBook or the trackpad?
If a mouse, unplug/unpair it and use the trackpad.  If that helps then try attaching the mouse again.
If this continues and you are using the trackpad it could be a problem with the trackpad or its interface with the system...visit the Apple store genius bar and have the techs run their diagnostices to see what is causing this behavior.

My iPad isn't getting connection to internet.  It just suddenly stopped!  It says it is connected to WiFi but it just keeps spinning and nothing will come up.  Have tried rebooting my router and iPad (my other computer is connected just fine).

Try turning WiFi off on the iPad, then reset it again, turn WiFi on again and join your network again if necessary. Or go to Settings>WiFi>Your network name>Forget this network. Reset your iPad and then join your network again. Or - settings>General>Reset>Reset network settings. Reset the iPad, then try to join your network again.

  • My OSX10.6.8 only connects to the internet for 5 second intervals??  Modem works fine (husband is not having problem on other computer), restarting doesn't work.  Can browse web just fine for 5 seconds until it disconnects.  Help??

I am running Mac OSX 10.6.8, but this problem has occurred also while I was running OSX 10.5.  This problem happens about once every two or three months, but seems to occur randomly.  When I try to connect to a wifi network on this computer, it will only connect for approx. 5 seconds before disconnecting, either telling me the password is wrong (which it is not) or a "connection timeout" message.  During this 5 second window, I can access the internet just fine until it disconnects me.  I don't understand why it is doing this.  My router/modem is working fine, my husband is using our other computer without problem.  In the past, restarting my computer a few times seems to do the trick.  But at the time of my typing this, it has not made any difference.  I am currently connected via an ethernet cable, but I would like to go back to being wireless.  Any advice for me?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I probably can't help much, but I have occasionally had the same problem. You might try going to System Preferences>Network and look at your Airport connection. See if the diagnostics can help.
    Good luck!

  • How to connect to an other computer through the internet

Please who can help me with Desktop Remote control and connecting through the internet. I know a lot is written about it, but it is still confusing.
So try to explain my situation:
I have an MacBook pro with Desktop Remote Control 3
    The other computer:
Apple PowerBook which is connected through and Thomson Speedtouch (wireless 716)
    External IP address xx.xx.xx.xx
    Internal IP address 192.168.1.66
    No firewalls
    My questions:
How do I check if my Thomson Speedtouch the ports 5900 and 32?? are open?
How can I open the ports on the router? Do I have to open the port on the router?
Then on the MacBook Pro, I start up ARD3
How do I scan for the computer on Internet? Do I use the external IP address?
How can I then connect to the Apple PowerBook? I cannot fill in the second internal IP address or do I?
I hope someone can help me.
If more info is needed, please ask me.
    Thank you....
    Hans

Neil thank you for your answer.
I opened Network Utility. Went to the last Tab "Port Scan"
I typed in: external IP address (i got this through the Widget SysStat which shows external IP)
Than I gave up scan between the ports 5890 - 5910 to check if those ports are open or not. I had to way for a moment, and then the result was: "Port Scan has completed....."
Ok, what do I know know? The ports are open or not?
So please can someone help me with the following:
    1) What should the result show me from Network utility?
    2) Opening the port, this has to be done on the Router or is it something the Internet Service Provider needs to do?
    3) I still have the question: how can I open the port, so with what application.
    4) What are the exact ports which needs to be open?
    5) About bridging in the router, does that have a special name. I didn't see in the router configuration program an option like that? When searching --> this is configured: A. Router-modem (NAT/PAT) - is there something special with NAT/PAT?
Hope someone can help me with a few of my questions.
    Thanks

  • For a LAN network in my office, all laptops are Windows based and the internet is through LAN and other computer get connected with adhoc without the router. My Apple computer nor my iPhone 5 get connected. How do I connect to this Internet?

In the office, All my colleges use Windows laptops. The Internet connection is out of LAN wire installed in one of the computers. Others use Internet by creating adhoc connection. However none of the apple products are being able to connect to this connection. How can i connect my MacBook Pro or iPhone 5 to this Internet network?

Just how is the one computer connecting to the internet? What type of connection does the office have, DSL, Cable or is it a Data connection through a Cell phone provider.
I doubt all other computer are doing Ad-Hoc but are probably Sharing the Internet connection with Internet Connection Sharing from that one Windows base PC.
All you khave to do is Connect to that same WiFi SSID name and have the correct password for it.

  • I installed Mountain Lion on my iMac. Now I cannot access the Internet. All the other computers and tablets have no problem. I did PRAM and MC reset, modem reset, etc., all the usual ju-ju. I also cannot connect on my local network to any other computer.

I installed Mountain Lion on my iMac. Now I cannot access the Internet. All the other computers and tablets on the network have no problem. I did PRAM and MC reset, modem reset, etc., all the usual ju-ju. I also cannot connect on my local network to any other computer. Yet Network control panel says I am connect to the modem, and Network Diagnosis says I am connected to the Internet. It's like the blind man who has eyes that cannot see. BTW, I am not some newbee. I have been a Machead since the early nineties and set up a half dozen networks, including the one I am using at home to which the iMac mysteriously is there but not. This has me stumped! I am considering going back to 10.7!

  • It appears since my Windows PC McAfee AV subscription expired my PC's iTunes doesn't see my two Apple TV2's.  My computer has internet connection thru router and my ATV has internet connection thru same router.  My iPad can see the ATV but it can't see iT

My Windows PC iTunes doesn't see my two Apple TV2's (in the speaker button in lower right of iTunes), I believe this problem began when my PC's McAfee AV subscription expired.  My computer has internet connection thru router and my ATVs have internet connection thru same router so it's not a networking issue.  My iPad can see the ATVs but it can't see iTunes so the problem appears to be PC/iTunes related.  I turned the PC's firewall off but no joy.  I uninstalled the expired McAfee and still no joy.  Reboot = no joy.  Glass of scotch = no joy.  Need help!!

Wanted to add that I turned on Home Sharing w/the same account in iTunes and ATVs.  And I've successfully streamed music/photos to my ATVs for over a year.

  • How can I count  time that a computer has been connectted with the internet

I want to count the time which a computer has been connectted with the internet?
I had already tried several times,
    one is socket,
    second is Runtime.exec("ping -n 1"+ip)
    I don't think they are better;
    do you have another idea?

The internet is a conceptual entity not a physical entity so you are never connected to it.
As a conceptual entity the internet is represented by a cloud of computing devices (computers, gateways, routers, etc.)
Your computer connects to a another computer by being routed through various devices and then finally connecting to that remote computer.
Depending on various thing you can measure the time that you can connect to other devices by either pinging a common IP in the internet (such as yahoo.com) or by pinging the router that that represents the entry point for your cloud (such as the router/gateway of your ISP.)
If you are concerned about a particular connection, such a specific remote computer, then using a socket and sending a 'keep-alive' message and recieving the response is the best way to track that.

    Remove Browser Pop-up Problems
         AdwareMedic
         Adblock Plus 1.8.9
remove adware that displays pop-up ads and graphics on your Mac
    Helpful Links Regarding Malware Problems
If you are having an immediate problem with ads popping up see The Safe Mac » Adware Removal Guide and AdwareMedic. If you require anti-virus protection Thomas Reed recommends using ClamXAV. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for this recommendation.)
Open Safari, select Preferences from the Safari menu. Click on Extensions icon in the toolbar. Disable all Extensions. If this stops your problem, then re-enable them one by one until the problem returns. Now remove that extension as it is causing the problem.
The following comes from user stevejobsfan0123. I have made minor changes to adapt to this presentation.
Fix Some Browser Pop-ups That Take Over Safari.
Common pop-ups include a message saying the government has seized your computer and you must pay to have it released (often called "Moneypak"), or a phony message saying that your computer has been infected, and you need to call a tech support number (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it resolved. First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
    Quit Safari
Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
    Relaunch Safari
If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. It will try to reload the malicious webpage, but without a connection, it won't be able to. Navigate away from that page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com, and trying to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet, and the page you entered will appear rather than the malicious one.

I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.
