No Internet.   Help

Had new iMac, macbook pro and iPhone working fine on wireless network with aebs connected to virgin DSL modem. Installed vista under bootcamp succesfully. However, since trying to connect to the Internet under vista wirelessly unsuccessfully my access to the Internet has gone down across the whole network. Devices can still see each other across the network.
When irun network diagnostics it tells me Internet and server have failed.
I have tried rebootin and resetting everything with no luck.
There are no known problems with virgin broadband.
Grateful for any help.

Do you mean that Internet Explorer works but Outlook doesn't?
Has Outlook ever worked on this computer?
To make Outlook work, you have to set up your email account.  This requires a lot of information from your ISP (internet service provider).  Check your ISP's web site for instructions on how to set up Outlook to work with their system.
You may want to use the account setup wizard in Outlook.  It is listed under "Tools"  --  "Email Accounts".

Is this a POP account, or an IMAP account? Did you enable your account type in Gmail?
You can verify whether or not you did (and enable it if you didn't) by logging into Gmail on the web. Then, open the 'Forwarding and POP/IMAP' tab on your 'Settings' page, and configure IMAP. After enabling IMAP in Gmail, make sure you click 'Save Changes' so Gmail can communicate with your mail client.

  • Problems with getting internet help in Elements 2.0

I have Windows XP and Photoshop Elements 2.0. When I opened up the Elements program it gave an error http://cgi..tform=ODLLVER=2.8.3.3AOMVER=2.8.3.3 check Internet Control Panel. Not sure what it is saying to do. The program seems to be working except when I search and it brings up the topic box, you can't pull up any information when you click on the topic. Also, I tried help and Photoshop Elements Help but when you click on it, it doesn't bring up anything. For some reason, it seems I have lost the internet help but I can pull up other web sites on the internet. Does anyone have any suggestions?

There is no "internet help" in PE 2. The help files are html files stored on your computer that you access with your web browser. What do you have set for your default browser? If it is something like AOL you may need to change the default to IE.

  • My macbook pro will not connect to the internet, help pleaaaase?

I have literally been to countless forums and nothing has worked. I restarted the router for the internet, but every other computer in my house is connecting to the internet just fine. I don't know what to do, and this is incredibly frustrating. Can anybody help me?

When you see an exclamation point in the Wi-Fi menu, from the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
Click the Assist me button and select Assistant. Follow the prompts. You may get a warning that Wi-Fi is not available, that you're too far from the base station, or that you're using the wrong password.
Assuming that you've ruled out those possibilities, click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane and authenticate, if necessary. From the Location menu at the top of the window, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.

  • Won't connect to internet, help please

I am back in my apartment at school and they replaced the cable with just another one, almost the same thing, but the problem is that when i connect the cable straight to my CPU it works fine, but when i plug the cable into my airport express it just blinks amber and it shows the connection and even says i am connected but it won't connect to the internet, please help me. my brother will be here tomorrow and i need to get this wireless setup. thanks so much for the help.

Connect the modem to your Airport Express. Then pull power to both for at least five minutes. Then plug power into the modem and wait a minute. Then plug power into the Airport Express and wait a minute. Then try internet access again.

  • Can't connect to internet  (help!!!!)

I really don't know much about computers, but I have a mac and there is no mac dealer in town, so I can't ask them to help me. I am trying to connect wirelessly. There is another computer in the house, which uses ethernet and is equipped with a wireless router. The router is a D-link (DI-524 AirPlus G) which is supposedly compatible with macs. Airport is on, and working and sometimes 'connected to default', but I can't actually connect to the internet. I have tried many different ways to set up but often am at a loss for information, which apparantly tha administrator knows, but I am the administrator and I don't know. I don't know my password either. So yes, I need all the help I can get. (please..)

I'll give you some general advice, which applies to all manufacturer's wireless routers. If you attempt to get your Mac to connect to its wireless network (by clicking on the wireless name as it appears after you click on your Mac's Airport menu) and you are prompted for a password, what you need to enter is the WEP or WPA password that was previously configured on your router. If you cannot remember what that password is, you will need to access the router's configuration (you can do that from the other computer you have which is able to connect) and find out the password. At the same time, make a note to yourself as to what type of security the router was configured to use (either 40- or 128-bit WEP, or WPA).

  • Self Assigned IP Addresses amber lights and no internet HELP!

Ok bear with me as I try to explain my prediciment!
I have an imac G5 with a Airport Extreme card properly connected and currently at full signal! The problem I'm having is that when i click safari (or IE) it doesn't load up any pages and a littke box pops up saying that it cannot find the server! so I go to network settings in system preferences and check the network status. I have an amber light and it says "airport connected to (my server) IP address self assigned your mac may not be able to connect to the internet" the problem is it is not self assigned it is done through DHCP.
I have had internet working perfectly at another house and it has worke don the odd occasion for a couple of days here so I don't think its a fault card (as i say it picks up a signal fine). I have tried putting in all info in manually but this has not helped (although on 1 occasion it did). I have baffeled the university technician with this problem. Im currently using ethernet to connect but this is no good as I need the computer in my bedroom and not the dining room (student accomodation) if you have any suggestions or have experienced this problem yourselves i would be delighted to hear of any answers and suggestions!

    Hi,
Duane is right in that if ACL's (access control lists) are set on the wireless access point, (as they are in my school) you will need your mac address of your airport card to add to the router.
Here's what I would do.... Open up Network Prefs in the System Prefs app. Create a "New" location and name it whatever you want ("Wireless at Home"). In the "Show" drop down menu, select airport. You should see 5 tabs in the airport window. Airport, TCP/IP, PPoE, Appletalk and Proxies. Click the airport tab and select automatically where it asks you what default network you want to join. You'll also find your mac address for your airport card in that pane. Next, click on TCP/IP and select DHCP from the IPv4: drop down menu, make sure no information is showing in this window. In other words, no numbers in DHCP or DNS servers, etc. If it's blank and ready to go, hit apply. The router should then hand off an IP address. Close system prefs and look in the menu on the upper right hand corner of your screen (by the date and time). See the airport fan? Does it have black bars through it? Or are they grey? Or, does it just look like a blank semicircle (airport is not turned on). If you don't see this menu, go back to network prefs and open the new location you've just made and go back to the airport tab. There is a check box in there that says, show airport status in menu bar. Turn that on. Now, go back to the menu and if the bars are grey, click on the fan and see if your network is listed there. Click on that to join. You have made a new location with fresh DHCP settings and told your airport card to connect automatically to whatever network is available.

  • "itunes could not contact the ipod software update server because you are not connected to the internet" Help?

Hello all, new to the forums.
I've been recieving the error message "itunes could not contact the ipod software update server because you are not connected to the internet". This problem didn't occur at all for the past 2 years of using itunes.
I've already scanned through numerous websites and forums for help, but none of them worked.
This  set of instructions resulted in no change to any of the problems, though iTunes lists that as the supposed solution.
    # Open Internet Options from control panel.
    # Click the Connections tab.
    # Click the LAN Settings button.
    # Select the Automatically detect settings checkbox.
Others include installing IE7, which that didn't work either.
    Can anyone help?

  • My Cisco E1000 wont connect to the internet HELP

I recently bought a new router but I'm having issues with it. We have 2 Laptops in our house and 1 (windows 7) can connect to the router and get internet access but the other (windows vista) can't it says that the Cisco router is not connected to the internet but it is. I've tried everything, resetting, reprogramming, etc. I recently found that the windows 7 one had the software installed and the windows vista didn't. What I need is to get that software but I need to know which version to get. How do I know which version of the software goes with my computer?
    Thx

You informed that you have two laptops... Are they running on wireless connection? Then in that case you need not have to install the Cisco Connect Software separately in that Vista Laptop...
Just you need to follow these steps..
    # First, go to "Start Menu" -> "Control Panel" -> "Network and Internet".
    # Now... go to "Network and Sharing Center" and select "Connect to a network"...
    # Choose "Show All" and hit the refresh button. If you find active network connections, select the one you want, click on “Connect" and don't forget to check the option that says "Start this connection automatically". If you check this option, Windows Vista will connect automatically to the selected network every time you log in...
    # It will ask for the password for the wireless network if is secured and then connect...
Hope this will help you in connecting the wireless network...

  • Idea - Store Internet Help info on the home computer?

My internet recently went out, and when I tried to find information on Help Viewer about the problem, the Help Viewer said, Unable to connect to the Internet.
    That's a problem.
    iBook G4 14'   Mac OS X (10.4.1)

There can be several causes for disruption or lose of internet service.
Rarely do you get a breakdown or cause from help.
Diagnosing the cause can be frustrating to say the least.
Without sounding smug this is often done by learning from expieriance such as been there and done that.
Sometimes it is caused by your Internet Service Provider doing updates on there server and or there lose of connection from power outage and any other number of issues that cause us to wait for a time before we can re connect.
Likewise on the users end can be caused by lose of power, change of settings, updates just to name a few. As you can see this can be tough to pinpoint the exact cause because sometimes there is more than one reason or combination of issues that cause it.
A good rule of thumb when you loose your connection is to simply reset your system, as recommended by all major Modem and Router Manufactures.
Do not change any confiquration settings, If it worked before it will work again.
1st Turn your computer clear OFF.
Pull the power adapter from your ISP's Modem.
Pull the power adapter from your Router.
Now you have to do the following in the correct order.
    Wait at least 5 minutes
Now after your wait plug in your ISP's Modem and you must wait for it to re establish the lights and connection normally 1 minute.
Next you can plug in your Router and again you must wait for the minute to get the lights and signal.
Now you can restart your computer and you should have your connection back again.
Remember always give us as much information as you can in as much detail as you can about all aspects of your problem, and the hardware or software.
This will make it easier for all on here to help you with your problems.
    Cheers Don

  • N97 connecting to Internet help please

I got my N97 on Friday and could connect to the internet fine, but saturday morning came - no internet connection available. I rang my contract provider who kindly told me that becasue the N97 is a new phone they don't have any settings or configurations for the phone yet!
Please please could someone tell me how to get the internet back working.
    Thanks in advance

Maybe your operator´s internet site can help you with that.
I had a similar problem as well and I took the configuration of the N95 and adpated it the my new phone. Of course this can not be done automatically, but has to be done manually.
If you tell us what operator, and from what country, you are, I might be able to help you.
By clicking the "Kudos!" or the "Solution?" button on the right you can say "Thank You" and you´ll show the author and others that the post is useful.

  • Dial Up Internet Help!

I seriously hope someone can help me, I'm getting very frustrated. Until 3 weeks ago I was sharing a dial up internet connection (I know but I am rural and it's all that is available, I literally have no other option) printer etc on up to three computers. Desktop running XP and two laptops also running XP. Then out of the blue I lost my wireless signal. My router is a WRT54G. I have literally tried everything. I updated the firmware, the router is working fine it shows up on each computer but they will not communicate. The two laptops see each other but the desktop doesn't see either of them. I know that it has something to do with sharing the internet connection but I don't know what I need to change to get it back. I have literally asked everyone I know, I have searched and searched, I have had two people in the field and they can't figure it out but I KNOW this works I have done it for over 2 years with no problems at all.
I have even tried a new router but that isn't the problem, all the cables work, everything is working except it won't share.
Please someone help! Thanks in advance!

    hi ,
access the setup page of the router using http://192.168.1.1 "admin" is the password....go to the wireless section and then to advanced wireless settings.....
turn "off" the AP isolation...reduce the Beacon interval to 50 and reduc the RTS and fragmentation threshold by 40 each....
let me know if this works.
