No Internet / Home Net / Set Time

I have the WRT600N - I would like to set it up presently with no internet for Home network (later hook into the internet-maybe wireless)
(( the City (Sacramento, CA) is talking putting in City Wide WiFi, would it be possible to add the Internet to My Home network via the Wireless connection (I saw something on the way in here about Cascading, is that what it would be?))
To run a Home Network with 'no' Internet, I assume that I will be hooking the Router to one of the Network Ports -or- should I hook up the Main PC using the Modem Port into the Internet Port on the Router?
Also, how can I set the time? (I have setup & set the Time Zone in the SetUp -it still shows wrong)
I know this is a strange setup; but, I just want a Small Home Network to Share Files, Resources, Printer & that USB Drive (got a terabyte) presently... worry about going the rest later, when I've learned more.
Thanks

Well you can start here with the link I provide.
http://www.home-network-help.com/home-network.html
The time zone can be set up by accessing the routers set up page,1.Open Internet Explorer and type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar.
2.You will now get a sign-in box, User Name = (Leave Blank)
Password = admin (all lower case letters)
3.Once the set-up page opens you will see the setting for the time zone at the bottom of that page. Choose your time zone and then click on save settings button.

How can I set home page for a new tab? how can i get firefox to open the home page every time i open a new tab in Windows vista home basic??
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

Firefox can have multiple home pages if you wish. Each home page that will open when starting Firefox is separated by the "|" character.
    See: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page
To have new tabs open a specific web site, add one of the following extensions:

If you leave a webpage up there without closing it from the tabs it should always return, otherwise tap the "three dots" bottom right of screen and scroll down to"pin to start" and you will then have a new tile upon homescreen.

  • How to set Internet home page in c2-01 model

    Hi Friends,
Can anyony tell me how can I set my internet home page (both for accessing by pressing 0 and from internet folder) in C2-01 model?
    Thanks in advance!

Thank you for your response and interest in helping out.
When I click on the "Internet" symbol I get back a screen with the following options ... ..."Nokia.mobi" which take me to some Ovi (I guess) stuff
..."Home" which gives me the 'Check Homepage Address'
..."Browser" which takes me to an Opera Mini screen
... "Web Services" which goes to Ovi mobi, Myspace, YouTube and some bookmarks from my restore of another Nokia which I used to initially populate the C2-01.
I just don't see anything where I can establish my own "home" screen ...

  • Can the iPhone have settings profiles?  I want the settings of what apps are using the "call home" automatically set based on my location or the time of day.  Is this possible?

Can the iPhone have settings profiles?  I want the settings of what apps are using the "call home" automatically set based on my location or the time of day.  Is this possible?  Of course the GPS location feature will need to be on in order for this to work.  But the idea here would be to optimize battery life by disabling the 'call home' requests of apps.  The settings profile should also support downloads as I would like to download and allow it when I am on WiFi but not so much when I am using my cellular data.

No, this is not possible as the sandboxed nature of iOS would not allow any app to modify another app like that. Such a feature would have to be enabled by Apple as a part of iOS itself. You can submit feedback to Apple about the idea if you wish to.

Will I require internet connection to set up iPodShuffle for the first time (Windows)?

I don't think so. THe only thing you need internet for is to download the free VoiceOver feature, and that's optional.

  • IPhone VZW vs. iPhone AT&T / Voice Calls & Internet at the Same Time

    Hello,
I use to be a Verizon customer. Currently doing prepay. But I'm looking at purchasing an iPhone and I'm not sure if I'm going to come back to Verizon or go with AT&T. I've seen in the AT&T commercials how they claim that you can make a voice call & surf the web at the same time. And that with Verizon, you can't do that. I wanted to know, is it true that with Verizon's iPhone you cannot make a voice call & surf the web at the same time?
    Thanks
    Shirley

Does Verizon use wifi for phone as well as data as an option? I was told by someone at the office who was talking to another friend who was about to go from TracPhone to either iPhone or Android. She was also considering how many minutes she would need. He told her with AT&T at his home or office he's on wifi for calls so it doesn't use his phone minutes. & I understand that you can have it set to automatically use wifi if it is available, otherwise 3G.
So is this true for Verizon?
& would that work to do phone & internet at the same time, both using wifi, or doesn't it work that way?
I'm on a win mob 6.5 phone now which is a replacement & its not working well & I didn't like the OS anyway (got it for biz, but they have changed to web based so don't need it for that).
So this one is having issues & is a downgrade from the phone I purchased originally.  So would really like to get the new iPhone 4S. So I'm kind of doing research right now.

  • IPhone 4s Battery life, Location Services, Setting Time Zone

So, many threads and articles on the internet are claiming that turning off "setting time zone" in location services (under system services) solves their battery drainage issue.
I've tried turning off location services together with other things, and while there seems to be an improvement, I don't really think it is solving the problem completely in my case.  For example, even after:
      - a full iphone restore from iTunes
      - no third party apps
      - the phone in Airplane mode (no Wifi or cellular connectivity)
      - all location services off
      - iCloud syncing completely off
       - Facetime off
       - iMessage off
       - bluetooth off
        - WITHOUT using the phone at all
... I seem to be lsoing about 25 % of charge every nine hours, which extrapolates to 36 hours time, total.
... but this is with  ll networking functions turned completely off (set up basically as an old-time PDA but without actually using it) and without turning the phone on.
Apple claims a time of 200 hours standby with all services on, connected to a WiFi access point with only "ask to join networks" set to the off position.
    How is that possible?
Looking at my phone usage under General settings, even with all the networking functions turned completely off (as above), my phone is spending about 90 % of time "in use." But I'm not using it!
At least with this phone, it seems like not all is explained by the "setting time zone" service under location services. Even with the screen off, no networking functions, and limited functionality, it appears to be cranking away at something.
    Can anyone else reproduce this?

Grrrrrr, now (after the iOS 5.0.1 update), this is happening not only on my iPad, but also on my iPhone 4S, which never had the problem on iOS 5.0.  So, instead of going from 1 to 0 devices having the problem, I've gone from 1 to 2 after the update!  Isn't this the opposite of what was supposed to happen?
Letting the iPhone sleep for a while, shutting it off and turning it back on, resetting it with home+power, all do nothing.  Weirdly, it *wasn't* doing this right after I did the update; it only started about a day or so later.
****Update: and now it's off again, but it did come on for about 10 minutes and then turned off again.  Hmmmmm. I agree that having the status bar icon enabled is a good idea, to at least be able to see when this happens and disable it if you're in a situation where battery life matters.

  • My Mac Book Pro changes the saved home page each time I start Safari.  I also get new tabs that randomly open asking to clean up my Apple

My Mac Book Pro changes the saved home page each time I open Safari.  I am also getting random tabs opening with various "cleaning up" my computer junk.
How do I get rid of this?  I tried some of the fixes listed but they don't seem to work or I am doing something wrong.

You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • How can I use a wireless printer and the internet at the same time?

Hi there, I just installed a wireless printer but to use it I have to click on the Airport icon and select the printer in the 'devices' list. This deselects my connection to my wireless modem. Is there any way I can print and look at the internet at the same time? This does not seem right to me, I print a lot of info from the net and don't want to spend time selecting and waiting for connection back and forth all the time.

I have a Linksys WAG54G2 wireless G router. This router has a Wireless Protected Setup button which I understood would initiate a search for wireless devices and aid setup but it seems to do nothing. I made the mistake of tryig to use the linksys installation disk to access a setup wizard and that just reset my entire network back to factory settings and it took me 4 hours to reconfig my system. Won't be touching that again. It all seems odd, the printer is compatible with the router as far as I can see but I don't know how to get the router to recognise the printer.

  • Is there a way to use the computer(internet)at the same time I'm watching a movie on my tv using mirror displays?

I'm trying to browse the internet while i'm watching a movie on my television using mirror dispalys. is there a way i can see the movie and browse the internet at the same time? without interrupting the movie.

Rather than mirror the display, set it to 'extended desktop' and have the browser on one screen and the movie on the other.
CMD F1 will toggle between mirror and extended.

  • Set Time Zone automatically doesn't work?

Just returned from a trip to Greece (back home now in Phoenix). Noticed that even connected to wifi in different locations, when "set time zone automatically" was clicked on in general settings, time displayed on iPad seemed stuck in EST. (I made a stop in Philly on way to trip, not sure if that has to do with anything.)
If i click "set time zone automatically" to off, for some reason my iPad defaults to Washington DC, even though in all my calendar/email settings i have Phoenix set as local time zone. I can change Washington DC to Phoenix and correct time displays on iPad. Just wondering why i can't set it automatically to display correct local time?
    Thanks for any suggestions....

Ok thanks. Yeah, I ended up using the World Clocks.
Where it gets interested is, iCal. If you're in a foreign country that's, say, 4 hours ahead, and you add iCal entries to your Calendar while you're out there, should those entries reflect the local time or the home time?
Also, if you're set the Alarm to wake you up at 8:00am, and you're away on holiday, surely it will go off at home time, not local time, thus going off at the WRONG time.

  • Cannot stream to iTunes and join wireless internet at the same time

I have a home network with an Airport Extreme base station, and Airport Express connected to my home stereo and to my existing wireless network in client mode. I receive internet via a wireless signal throughout my apartment building. My laptop receives the signal via the built-in airport express card. Neither the Airport Extreme or Air Express are connected directly to the internet, since I only have a wireless signal in the building (no ethernet).
With Airport turned on the wireless internet signal appears as a list of networks alongside my own network.
I can't seem to get the settings right such that I can join my Home network and be connected to the internet at the same time, since I have to join either one or the other from the drop down list. Therefore, I can't sream music wirelessly from my laptop to my airport express and be connected to the internet at the same time.
Is there any way around this?

Leosia, Welcome to the discussion area!
Your Mac only has a single radio receiver therefore it can only join one wireless network at a time.
