No internet IP from Hotel Telefonica Wifi (Spain)

Hello,
I'm in Spain (Zaragoza) for work, in a nice hotel where they offer (sorry, sell expensive) wireless "wifi" connection, served from Telefonica.
When I connect to the network in the Airport menu, no pw window appear as is usually the case. The network preference pane tells me I have a private IP.
The computer guys from the Hotel just disdain my mac :
"The wi-fi system for apple computer is different from our system that we use normally. Our internet access is contracted by the spanish telephone company "Telefonica" and the configuration system is only for PC" (big help!)
Any idea someone?
Thanks,
Powerbook 17" G4 1GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   2 Mb RAM

And what exactly is your problem now?
Your next step is to open a browser and type in whatever URL. You'll be redirected automatically to the RADIUS server Telefonica has installed in the hotel. It'll ask you for a username and password (which you might have payed for already at the reception) or it'll offer you to pay online via credit card.

  • Problem in Internet Sharing from Ethernet to wifi

Whenever i go to Preferences > Sharing >  Click Internet Sharing > From Ethernet > to wifi and hit start. It actually creates my wifi access point but the problem is that i lose my internet connection from both, my mac from which the connection is being shared and my cellphone which is connected to it. I can not identify what is the problem, but i have tried it many times with or without the WPA2 personal key. Even after stopping the internet sharing, i have to plug out and then in my ethernet cable in order to connect to internet.
This problem was also on OS X mavericks with me last year, but it resolved automatically, i don't know how. But since when i have upgraded to yosemite, i can't make my hotspot connection working . Suggest any quick and effective way please.

    Same problem over here...
Additionally: if I unplug Gigabit-Ethernet-Adapter and plug it in again while Internet Sharing is still activated, the internet via ethernet works, but breaks down again about a minute later...

  • Internet sharing from Wifi to Ethernet is not working after Mountain Lion upgrade

First I was having trouble just connecting these two, now I can't get the Internet sharing to work. Here's what I am trying to do: I want to share my Macbook Pro's internet connection from it's Wifi to another laptop I have connected via ethernet cable. They will ping each other now. The problem now is that the laptop won't pick up the Internet connection from the Macbook Pro, even though I have it configured exactly as I had in Snow Leopard. Nothing has changed on the laptop from before when it worked fine with Snow Leopard. But now that I updated to Mountain Lion, Internet sharing no longer works no matter what I try. I've been trying to find a solution by to no avail. Could anyone here offering some advice or a solution that will fix my problem? I've been over the basic steps over and over again, so please don't ask me to do something stupid like reboot or check the Sharing settings. They're exactly how they are meant to be, but the thing just won't work.

Ran a TCPdump on my Macbook Pro. It is recieving the ping requests, but the laptop still isn't getting replies to its pings. So something is wrong in the Macbook's configuration somewhere. I don't know where, though.

  • Internet Sharing from Macbook Pro to iPad???

Trying to get my wife's iPad to connect to the internet in a hotel that has wired high speed internet but no wifi.
My MacBook Pro connects just fine. So I turned on Internet Sharing for both Bluetooth and wifi (with WEP password for wifi).
The iPad connects to the Mac by wifi but says it has no internet connection.
With Bluetooth, it pairs OK. The Mac sets it up as serial port sharing (no other choice offered, but within that there is a choice of modem or RS232 protocol). But when I try to connect it connects momentarily then disconnects right away.
Any suggestions on how to let the iPad get at the internet in this situation?

    I am still not succeeding.
I just upgraded to a new Macbook Pro with Mountain Lion. Testing at home, where there are no issues around hotel ISP limitations and I feel pretty safe originating an open wifi network for a few minutes.
Set up Internet Sharing from Ethernet to Wifi. Used the Create Network option for wifi in the menu bar to set up an open unprotected wifi network whose name is the name of my Mac. I can choose any wifi channel from 1 to 11; it makes no difference.
I can see that network from my wife's iPad, and can connect to it no problem. But as in all similar tests since Snow Leopard came out, Safari in the iPad can't open any web sites; it says it is not connected to the internet. I can also connect to the MBP wifi from my iPhone, but if I select it, the 3G symbol still shows at the top of the screen because the phone cannot find an internet connection over that wifi.
Clearly some other people are managing to do what I cannot. Quite possibly some piece of third party software on my Mac is interfering. Little Snitch, for example, though it is currently turned off.

  • How to internet browsing from the wifi.....not from my service provider.

i want to know how to internet browsing from the wifi connection not from the "DATA SERVICE" when i off my data service from mobile network option then i can't able to surf.........my wifi connection is on and connected.
    Thanks guys....

Do not turn off the Data Services. Just turn off your mobile network connection in the Manage Connections screen.
Go to Options > Advanced > Browser and set your browser to Hotspot, and save. Now, use the browser with the Wifi connection for surfing the internet.

It depends upon how the other machines are connecting to your MBA:
If the the other machines are also using wi-fi, they can connect directly to the wireless access point (router) without going through your MBA
If the other machines are connecting to the MBA using ethernet you can share your wi-fi connection to them

  • I HAVE AN IPAD 2 WITH WIFI ONLY, CAN I GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM ANY SMARTPHONE, OR DO I NEED A SPECIFIC PHONE FOR THIS?

i ave an ipad 2 with wifi only, can i get internet access from any cell phone, or do i need a specific phone or type of phone

I received an iPad 2 for Christmas (the 1st Apple item I've ever owned!) and own a Nokia N95 8GB mobile (that's pretty much on its last legs/ready to die any day).
On the Nokia I've got 2 apps (downloaded from/via Nokia's 'Ovi' app store): JoikuSpot & HandyWi. Both are the free versions.
I've not used HandyWi much - if at all - but JoikuSpot has been great. Basically, it creates a wifi hotspot (as pjl123 mentioned) in a couple of straightforward steps, and allows a few devices to be connected. It displays who/what is connected at a given time - so you can check if the guy having coffee behind you is piggybacking your hotspot or not! - data packets sent received etc.
The paid version has the benefit of allowing you to secure the hotspot and other security features.  Their website is www.joiku.com, FYI.
Given how slow behind the 8 ball Nokia has been, their phones are getting cheaper and cheaper - given Joiku's meant to work with Nokia S60, Symbian ^3, Maemo, Meego & Sony Ericsson S60, this might be a cost effective option.
Ps. Ah! One more thing - Joiku's website specifies that 3G must be used; that WAP will not work. Good luck, enjoy!

My mail account from icloud will work if I only disconnect my wifi in my iphone and only use internet plan from my carrier. Anybody else with this problem??

I've been having the same problem since iCloud appeared and complicated an otherwise trouble-free system. Doubling frustrating is that iCloud duplicates my .Mac account so I get two of everything in my Inbox. I turned off iCloud and now mail at least goes out but I can't delete the duplicate account.

  • I want to connect my Mac Book Pro to the internet in France without any wifi connection available? Mi Fi? Sim card?

I want to connect my Mac Book Pro to the internet in France without any wifi connection available? Mi Fi? Sim card? All we have is a phone signal in this rural French location. I want to be able to Skype to states from there. We have a friend with a 3G ipad who uses an Orange sim card to do it. I would rather not have to buy an Ipad.
    thanks

I found out that the data package for one month useage with MiFi is 1G. How many minutes of online time does that correspond to?

  • My iPad Mini with retina display suddenly will not connect to the Internet. It shows full wifi bars, yet no web pages will load. My Internet is working with all other apple devices in my house. The iPad also no longer works with celluar data.

My iPad Mini with retina display suddenly will not connect to the Internet. It shows full wifi bars, yet no web pages will load. My Internet is working with all other apple devices in my house. The iPad also no longer works with celluar data. I'm not sure what has happened. It was working fine a few hours ago. I have tried resetting it, ive restarted my browser etc. I tried to erase all data from my Ipad but I can't do that because it needs to sign into my Apple ID and use the Internet!

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Having problems sharing internet Connection from Macbook to Vonage Adapter

    Hello,
I just got my Vonage adaptor and I am trying to share the Internet connection from my Macbook Pro (10.7.3) to the Adaptor to use the Vonage service bc my router is downstairs.
I turned off my Firewall, hooked my Vonage adapter to the Macbook with the ethernet cable and then went to Sys Preferences > Sharing > Selected Internet Sharing > Share Connection from Wifi to computers using Ethernet, and it looks like everything is ok but when i try to use the phone which is connected to to Vonage Adapter, it says "Your Vonage device cannot connect to the internet, check to see if your high speed internet is down".
I went and looked at my Network preferences and it shows Ethernet connected which is the Vonage Adapter and gives the following:
    IP Address: 169.254.163.167
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Is there something Im doing wrong? Ive seen on several forums that its possible to do but having bad luck. Any help is appreciated.

All I know is that I got Ubuntu to share internet and offer IPs through DHCP by using Firestarter. I am very new to Solaris, however, and am looking forward to learning about it. I've just made it my regular desktop environment. Long as you can get Solaris to configure its network interface with DHCP after your Ubuntu is configured, you should be able to share to as many clients as you'd like. Fedora also works well for that, and in my opinion, it's a better Linux than Ubuntu, though Solaris remains a better Linux than Linux, right? Har.

  • How do i get an internet connection from my Mac to my iPad using a usb cable?

I have a Mac connected to the internet through a modem. However, i also want my iPad to share this connection through the usb cable. Is this possible? If not, is there any other way i can get my iPad to share the internet connection from my Mac?

It look like you can turn your mac into a hotspot and connect your ipad to it via wifi.

  • Internet sharing from MBP to iPod Touch?

I have a MacBook Pro connected to the Internet through my company's ethernet network. Since there is no WiFi connection available here, I am attempting to use "Internet sharing" between my ethernet / Internet connection on the MBP to my iPod Touch. There is no proxy server or special settings I have on my MBP to access the Internet through the ethernet connection so I thought it would be as simply as turning the "Internet Sharing" on, creating an "ad-hoc" wireless network, and connecting to it with my iPod Touch.
I can see and connect to the wireless connection that my MBP has created for Internet Sharing, but I can't access any Internet content from the iPod Touch. I changed the settings on the iPod Touch WiFi connection from DHCP assigned, static IP, and I've even tried using my MBP's wireless IP as well as ethernet IP addresses as the router on the iPod Touch with no luck. I also tried setting the subnet mask on the iPod Touch to 255.255.0.0 and using the MBP's ethernet gateway IP address as the router IP on the iPod Touch (still no luck).
    Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

If new events added to your Mac do not appear on your calendar on icloud.com when you check from your computer, make sure you are adding the events to calendars that belong to your "iCloud" account and not an "On My Mac" or another non-iCloud account.  You can check by clicking Calendars on the top left of the Calendars application.
If you are and they still don't appear on icloud.com, add any missing events from your Mac calendar to your calendar on icloud.com, then go to System Preferences>iCloud, uncheck Calendars, choose Delete from Mac when prompted (they will still be in iCloud), restart your Mac, then go back and check Calendars again.  Then add a new event on your Mac calendar and see if it appears on icloud.com and your iPod now.

After a week's worth of debugging, I found the issue.
The Java type returned from the call was defined as ArrayList.  Changing it to List resolved the problem.
I'm not sure why ArrayList isn't a valid return type, I've been looking at the Adobe docs, and still can't see why this isn't valid.  And, why it works in Debug mode and not in Release build is even stranger.  Maybe someone can shed some light on the logic here to me.

  • Trouble connecting my MacBook air to Internet in a hotel - but my iPad works fine???

Help please - aim in a hotel in Austria. I can connect to the Internet using the hotel wireless with my iPad, but my MacBook Air keeps showing a connection, but not accessing the Internet. I've tried fiddling with system preferences, and got onto the Internet once, but when I came back from a walk the connection was gone and won't come back?

I'm unsure what encryption, but I am getting a DHCP address, I can ping the gateway and have tried making a new connection.
Since I last posted, I kept trying network preference - diagnosis...... It would usually show all green against the wireless connection status, except when I turned off airport. But after about 90 minutes of fiddling, and for no logical reason I could see, the Internet connection came up.
I have just been for supper, and on re- opening the MacBook, the connection won't let me onto the Internet again, even though everything lookls ok???
Any ideas for a tyro gratefully received!
